“I love you~~~”
“Do you really mean that Shinji or are you just hoping that I’ll forget about the fact that it’s your turn to do the laundry this week?”
Sakito scoffs, he didn’t have the time to deal with Shinji’s antics this morning. It’s not the first time Shinji has done something like this to get out of chores and it’s definitely not the last. Handing the full basket of dirty laundry to Shinji, he heads out the door making a dash for the bus. Why he thought being roommates with Shinji was a good idea after highschool graduation will always be a mystery to him. Sure he was desperate but as a broke highschool graduate who wouldn’t be? He couldn’t rely on his parents forever and it didn’t help that his university of choice was a lot further away than he wanted it to be. He had a part time job to cover the basic expenses and it gave him a bit of spending money but having a roommate helped his budget by a great deal. The fact that Shinji could make almost anything taste good and was edible was a major deciding factor in allowing him to share a small flat. The only downside was the fact that his roommate, though a fantastic cook, would always look for ways to skip on doing chores whether it be cleaning or otherwise.
Sakito sighs as he ambles into the lecture hall wanting nothing more than to forget the whole morning. He pulls out a notepad and a blue ballpoint pen as he slides out the table right beside his seat. He lets out a tired yawn as his professor rambles on about derivatives and logarithmic functions seeming distracted from the material.
'I love you? What was Shinji thinking? Did he seriously think I'd fall for something like that? Pfft. As if I'd let him get away with that stupid excuse.'
Snapping out of his thoughts, he looks around only to find that his classmates have already begun to leave the room. Hurriedly, Sakito shoves his notes into his bag and heads out the double doors, careful not to get in the way of the new people entering for their next class. Heading to the other side of campus he camps out at the library in the 45 minute break between his first and second classes of the day. Pulling out his textbook he proceeds to highlight and mark up the pages with his lecture notes for future reference when he needs them for the midterm that’s approaching all too soon. Sakito looks up from his notes only to find the notification light on his phone flashing at him. He presses the on button only to be greeted by a new message from Shinji.
‘What does he want now?’
Sakito opens up the chat only to find a picture of bubbles captioned with the message “HELP I THINK I PUT TOO MUCH SOAP”
There were no words to describe the amount of dread and disappointment he felt when he thought about going home for the day. He groans in annoyance and bangs his head on the table accumulating concerned looks from the people around him. Out of things why did this have to happen. How did he even manage to live in the dorm at Inashiro without knowing how to properly wash clothes and how much soap to add? What did he do to deserve such a himbo for a roommate? Textbook shoved into his bag, he makes plans for skipping his next lecture. He shoots off a quick text to a classmate to grab notes for him and prepares to catch the next available bus home. Exiting the rotating doors of the campus library he narrowly misses bumping straight into someone all too familiar in his panicked state of mind.
“Shinji? What are you doing here?”
Sakito frowns. He isn’t sure how he feels about the whole mess but is relatively relieved to see that his roommate is dry.
“Well I can’t go back to the flat. It’s swamped there. Oh, and I called the landlord. Apparently there was a leak in the washing machine and it flooded the place after I added too much laundry and soap haha. So until then we’ll have to find somewhere else to stay for the time being.”
Shinji laughs nervously ruffling his hand through his hair unsure of what else to say.
“Oh….I thought you had flooded the flat with your stupidity but I guess I was wrong this time."
"Wha- Ruuuude. Maybe I should stop cooking for you since you think you can survive without me. You love me~ You just haven't figured it out yet~"
He shakes his head in disbelief at the amount of sass his roommate possesed. To think that he had oh so nicely invited Sakito to live with him.
"I have. I regret falling for a dumbass like you but I've come to terms with it. I love you too dumdum. Now let's find somewhere else to stay before we get stranded on campus and end up sleeping in the common areas."
