Chapter 1: A flower is found.

Chapter Text

"Cressida!" A lady's voice echoed, in the noble house of the Adalias. "Cressida Adalia! Where are you?!" The voice called out, once again. As the voice echoed, a faint giggle was heard, but still very loudly due to failing to muting it down.

A young girl, messy, but yet slightly softly curled, hair, dark coloured eyes, was hiding in the corner of a room, covering her mouth to hide her laughter. Foot steps made their way to where the child was, making her gasp, in surprise. She looks up, after noticing a shadow that finally came over her.

"There you are, Cressida." The same voice says, getting to her level. "Ah, you made such a commotion! Running off without telling any of us, including me! Your own mother..." She said, her olive, green eyes making contact with the girl's magenta eyes. The girl giggled, once again, uncovering her mouth.

"Sorry, Mama! I- uhm... I thought it would be funny to suddenly run off and have..a game of hide any seek!" She said, standing up, with the help of her mother, holding her hand. Her mother dusted her down, before patting her, ruffling her already messy hair.

Cressida Adalia, aged 7.
Nicknamed "Golden flower" by her mother, due to her hair, was the only daughter of Olivia Adalia. Though they did not look that much alike, Olivia loved her very much. The young child has golden, blonde hair and magenta eyes, while Olivia had olive green eyes and light, brown hair. They lived, happily, in a noble, grand house in Siodonna.

Yes, the same Siodonna where the famous Diana Rowena was from, the mother of the neighbouring empire's rumoured crowned princess, Athanasia De Alger Obelia, next in line to the throne. She was a nice lady, as Olivia would say, due to encountering her a few times, since they did live in the same city.

The two walked down the Adalia Estate's longest corridor, that was decorated in paintings and portraits of previous family members, mainly of Olivia with her parents. She was an only child, she was treasured dearly, although she was said to be "talentless" by her educators and tutors.

"Mama, I heard we're gonna see grandpa in a few days! Is that true?" Cressida asks, looking up at her mother, who looked down at her. "Yes, my sweet. We have to discuss about some family things. Your grandfather wanted to find me a husband! Funny, really. I'm already contempt with you." She chuckled, reaching the end of the corridor and wondering into the next room, which was into the main room, where the staircase was and the main entrance was located.

As they As they wondered up the stairs, a servant was placing a new portrait up; it was of Olivia Adalia and her precious daughter, Cressida Adalia, her golden flower, at the centre. The others were holding an older looking painting, it was of Olivia and her parents when she was very young. They made their way to Cressida's bedroom, wondering in.

"Let's get you changed. You look quite messy and your dress is creased. I wonder how that happened, huh?" "Hehe."

A few days finally went by..
Cressida was reading in her bedroom, in a language that almost looked like ancient relic. As she read, her mother came in, holding a small dress as she wore a simple, yet stylish, outfit. "My golden flower, I have a surprise for you!" She says, wondering over and laying out a dress, yellow with dark blue ribbons and a pink flowers. She placed down a matching bonnet, which made Cressida gasp, in glee. She picked up the bonnet.

"A bonnet! It's so pretty...how come you got me a bonnet? Oh, and such a wired looking dress?" The child question, to which her mother took the bonnet and place it on her daughter's head, smiling. "Oh, you know, to show how pretty you are, my child. Oh, and to show everyone we have power and to get the sun out of your eyes. It is very sunny in Obelia. It's also very uncommon to wear Siodonnan clothing there."

"...Obelia?" Cressida questioned, before gasping. Her clasped her face, covering her mouth. "Obelia! Isn't that the famous kingdom Miss Rowena went to  preform?" She asked, Olivia nodded. "Yup~ and we're going to visit your grandfather, rather then him coming over. I wanted to give you the full Obelia experience! So I looked for some clothing and found those two. I sure hope you enjoy them."

"Oh, Mama! This makes me so excited!" She says, hugging her mother, happily. "I mean, I do like the Siodonnan style but this is way too exciting! We're going to a proper kingdom! Well..empire! I wonder what it'll be like there." She says, letting got and looking up. Her mother laughed, patting her. "My child, how adorable..but we must get packing, since we are leaving in a few days."

"Alright!" Cressida squealed.

Finally, the day of travelling arrived. It was the first time Cressida was travelling in a carriage. It took a while to get to Obelia, but they did take a few rest stops, on the way. She happily hopped, in her seat, which was across from her mother's, who was trying her best to read, but got distracted by her daughter's excitement.

"My golden flower, please calm yourself. You'll be out of energy by the time we get to Obelia." "But I'm so excited, Mama! We're going to Obelia! Oh, Oh! And we'll be seeing grandpa! I'm sooooo excited!" She squealed, beaming. Her mother chuckled, placing her book down. "Cressida.."

The girl continued squealing, before looking at her mother. "What will we do there, Mama? Also, why does he live there and not width us?" "Well.." Olivia started, thinking. "He mentioned, in a letter I got a week or two ago, of him inviting us to his house for the summer, oh and to discuss some adult things." She said, looking at Cressida. "And why he lives there? Well, I've moved there for better health, he said that the health care in Siodonna was terrible."

"That's wired! And..I don't understand." Cressida responded, her hands to her mouth as she looked at her mother, eyes shining in wonder. Her mother responded with a sigh, looking at her. "Of course, you're only a young child.." she said, chuckling.

After a few hours, and a few rest stops, the pair finally got to Obelia, mainly the capital to buy a few things for Viscount Adalia, Olivia's father. They paused at an inn, getting some rest before adventuring into the city. Olivia wore a green and black dress, with a small hat while Cressida wore her yellow dress, including her bonnet. The pair walked out, hand in hand, looking around for a shop to buy at.

Olivia was looking at some books, as Cressida was looking around the shop, looking for anything interesting. They went to a jewellery shops, which caused Olivia to buy a few trinkets, for her and Cressida. As they continued, they were making their way to a ribbon shop, which was where Cressida wanted to go to, before they were suddenly stopped, with a hand being placed on lady Adalia's shoulder, which caused her to pause. Cressida looked up.

"Mama?" She questioned, before turning to look at who stopped her mother. Olivia's eyes widened, as she met with the grey eyes of the infamous...
Crimson blood knight.

"Olivia Adalia? With a child similar to Siodonnan Performer, Lady Diana?"
"Sir...Felix Robane? What are you...doing here?" She questioned, as Cressida looked at the knight, their eyes met.

"..I should be the one asking you that. Come on, lets talk at a nearby cafe?"

Who was this man? How did he know Olivia? We're they friends?
...Why did he look so fancy..?

“Felix Robane..?” Olivia questioned, breaking away from his grasp, on her shoulder, surprised. She crouched down, holding Cressida close. The knight looked from the child and to the noble.

“And I thought she was only baring a single child..” He said. He then looked around, noticing the audience they have created. He sighs, looking back at the noble. “Lets go somewhere to discuss this in private, alright?”
Olivia nodded, standing back up, holding Cressida’s hand.

“Mama, where are we going?”
“Somewhere...well, where ever that man brings us, alright? Be on your best behaviour, Cressida.”

They stopped by a café, where the two adults sat across one another, as the child sat in the middle, nearer the Adalia noble. She was playing with her dress, as the two adults remains quiet, until Olivia cleared her throat.
“You...wanted to discuss about...Cressida?”

The knight nodded, peering around to see some people looking over, but looking away. “Didn’t lady Diana bare one child? Princess Athanasia, right? Then why does this child..almost resemble the lady, but with the hair of his majesty.” Olivia sighed.
“..On the 16th of August, when the lady went into labour, she birthed two children. I don’t know how, even when she was told that one of them would be able to kill her.”

Cressida looked at the two of them, tilting her head. She looked at Olivia, who looked terrified, then at Felix, who was closely listening. As they continued talking, a thought came into her head.

‘...Mama isn’t my Mama?’

“I’ll arrange a meeting with his majesty,” Felix began, looking back at Olivia and Cressida, walking out of the café. “I’m sure he’ll have mercy on you. You did raise her to be a lovely girl.” He said, looking down at the small child, getting to her level. “It was lovely meeting you, Cressida. But I must get going. I did promise that I would come out for a short stroll.”

“Alright. Please send the time to the Adalia house here in Obelia. I’ll be waiting.” Olivia did a curtsy, as Felix stood back up, waving, then walked off. She female noble signed, in relief. She looked at Cressida. “Alright, Golden Flower, let’s get going.” She said, as they made it back to the inn.

After a night there, they finally made it to the Adalia estate. Olivia’s father, Duke Adalia, was delighted to see his daughter and granddaughter. With open arms, he gave his child a big hug. “Welcome, I’m so happy you made it safely” “I’m happy I make it safely, too. I missed seeing you, father.”

“Grandfather!” Cressida says, hopping off the carriage and going up to him. He let go of Olivia, looking at the young child. “Cressida, my darling grandchild!” He said, giving her a big hug, as well. “You must’ve had so much fun, travelling. It’s your first time out the country, no?” He asked, she nodded. He let for of up, ruffling her hair. “You must be wired. I’ll
Ask the servants to bring in your luggage.” He said, walking Olivia and Cressida into the estate.

When they made it inside, Cressida ran off to explore. “Don’t hurt yourself, Cressida!”
“I should ask a maid to keep an eye on her, shouldn’t I-“ “Father,” Olivia said, turning to him. “I need to tell you- something.” She said. He turned to her, curious. “What is it, Olivia?” “We might need a tea room for this, you’ll definitely collapse in shock.” “Olivia, I’m sure it isn’t that shocking.”

If indeed was shocking. Duke Adalia almost choked on tea, when Olivia told him.
“You’re telling me, the crimson knight found you and Cressida wondering around? Why would he be interested in her and you-“

“Father, did you forget? Cressida isn’t my child. She’s Lady Diana and his majesty’s child. I took her to save her, I heard they were planning to murder everyone at the Ruby palace.” Olivia says, frowning. She looked down to her hands, fiddling, then to her tea, seeing her reflection of sadness. “And- Knight Felix is planning a meeting with me and Cressida soon, so we can visit the Emperor.”

“What?! Olivia, you mustn’t go. It’s dangerous, seriously! Get back to Siodonna, please. I can’t risk loosing you and Cressid-“
“Father, the Emperor deserves to meet his daughter. I promise I’ll be okay, I did raise Cressida to be a lovely child, right?”

As soon as she said that, a knock came upon the tea room’s door. The door opened up, revealing a servant.
“Duke Adalia, a letter has arrived from the imperial palace addressed to your daughter.” He said, wondering in and presenting a letter on a silver plate, sealed with the Obelian royal seal. Olivia took it, sighing. The servant then left, the daughter opened it up, skimmed through it.

“He- He wants to meet me and...Cressida tomorrow...”

——————

It was a lovely day at the emerald palace. Athanasia was getting ready to meet with her father when Felix finally came back.
“Felix! You were gone for a while...we had to postpone his majesty and the princess’ lunch because she wouldn’t be able to make it.” Lillian York, known as Lily, said. Wondering to him. Be apologised, with a bow.

“I’m sorry, while I was out I stumbled across an old friend. Do you remember Olivia Adalia?”
“Lady Adalia? Didn’t she mysteriously leave the palace a while ago?” She asked. “..7 years ago, to be exact..”

“Well, yes,” Felix began, the crown princess wondered over, but hid. She wanted to hear what was happening.

“She was wondering around town. I saw her with a child.” “A child?”
“Yes, a child with golden hair and..pink eyes. She exactly looked like the princess. I’m assuming that the princess is..”

“A twin?” Athanasia said out loud, looking at both the adults. ‘I never read about Athanasia having a twin. What’s is this?’ She mentally said, as the two adults turn to her. “Princess! What are you-“

“Athy wants to meet her!” She said, running over and looking at Felix. “When can Athy see her?” She asked. The knight looked at her, having a slight smile.

“You can see her soon, though I need to inform your father about the meeting I just had. Let’s get going, your father must be waiting for us.”

Notes:

Hihi, I'm Amphie! I just wanted to do a quick note:
Diana doesn't have a last name, so I gave her the last name "Rowena" which means "joyful spirit"!
I tried to look for a last name that meant "freeful spirit" (to match her personality) but I couldn't find any I liked- so I stuck with Rowena.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy! <3

Also, gosh, I'm so sorry if this chapter didn't make sense. I'm still new to the wmmap fanfiction fandom but I sure hope you enjoyed this!
And yeah, I decided to cut to the chase and make Felix find Olivia and Cressida.

I hope you look forward to this work!!
Amphie out~~
