Chapter Text
You sat on the bed quietly and watched as he lifted his shirt off of his back. Time seemed to slow down as each inch of his skin was revealed to you.
The silver scales were a soft contrast to the streaks of red. The longer you stared the more the eyes of the beast seemed to move towards you meeting your own glare.
“Y/n”
You jumped slightly and met his eyes in the mirror that was in front of him.
“This isn’t the first time you’ve seen it.”
“I know, but it just fascinates me.”
He gave you a look between disbelief and amusement but it was mostly his same flat look. He changed into his pajama pants and grabbed his sweatshirt. He slipped his arms into the sleeves and moved to lift it over his head when you stopped him.
“Wait.”
He froze and lowered his arms to turn his head and look at you.
“Come here.” You patted the sheets next to you softly with a smile
He raised his eyebrows in question but obeyed and came to the bed. He sat down and was about to finish putting on the sweatshirt when you stopped him again by gently pulling the sleeves off of his arms.
“No silly, keep it off.”
He looked at you with his usual upset look that intimidated so many but you knew he was just pouting.
“Please Y/n, I’m just ready to go to bed.”
He hadn’t had a good day and you knew it. Between getting roughed up and roughing other people up and then running around on foot all day, he had come home grumpy after discovering the pocket circuit track had been closed temporarily for renovation. He had just gotten those new tires too.
“Just trust me Kazuma. Lay down on your stomach.”
He gave you a fierce glare for a moment and you stared right back at him.
When you gave him another smile, his features softened. You went in for the kill and gave him a soft kiss. When you felt him return the gentle kiss you knew you had him. He sighed and then grumbled only to lay down after throwing his sweatshirt to the side.
“Fine”
He never could be upset with you long.
You turned off the room lights and turned on the small lamp on the nightstand so the room was only filled by a soft yellow light. It was a chilly night.
You returned to the bed and placed the covers over him but left his back exposed. You sat beside him and let your legs warm his side, and you could feel how cold his skin was as you ran your fingers along the outline of the dragon. He was tense. You put both palms flat on his back and watched his movements waiting until he finally relaxed under your warm hands.
He had his chin on a pillow and his arms underneath while you quietly moved, kneading out the knots from the base of his neck to his lower back. Once you lifted your hands off of him he almost seemed to radiate heat but he was asleep. At least judging by the soft puffs he would occasionally give. Almost like a dragon in deep sleep.
You leaned down and softly kissed the base of his neck and then covered him with the comforter. Turning off the lamp, you got under the covers yourself and settled into the warmth of his body next to yours. Just before you fell into your dream he moved to his side and gently brought you closer to him. His body seemed to guard yours.
Protecting something precious.
