Work Text:
It was around 7 am. Tracy was just starting to wake up. She shifted in her half-awake state, trying to adjust to her new element. With a little extra effort, she opened her eyes completely, greeted with orange sunlight peeking through the windows, and onto the wall next to her. Placing her hand on the bed next to her, she felt the absence of someone whom she thought would be present. The lack of warmth alarmed her, though it was to be expected. Emma had a much earlier schedule than herself. Tracy sat up. She still felt a bit headless from just waking. Letting her legs hang off the bed, she stared at the rug below her before finally standing to her feet. She brushed her hair from her face lazily.
Tracy stretched, now fully standing up, and began to work her way out of the room. She walked through the door frame, grazing her hand on the side for balance. The hallway was dimmer than it was in their room, not that she was complaining, it helped her eyes. However, the light came again when she stepped into the living room. The faint scent of earl grey lingered in the room. She looked around for a moment, before spotting her. Emma was sat in the kitchen, still standing by the kettle, she didn't seem to notice her yet.
A small smile coated her face, and she softly walked towards her. Emma, as occupied as she was, still hadn't detected her until her arms wrapped her waist. Emma jumped slightly, giggling warmly when she realized it was only the mechanic. Holding Tracy's hands with her own, her thumb stroked over the back of her hand. "Good morning..." Tracy groaned in response, not yet awake enough to form words. Not that the gardener minded. Her presence was enough.
Subsequently, the kettle started to whistle. Removing her hands, Emma picked it up with an oven mitt. Tracy backed up for a moment, not wanting to get in the way of her "rOoMmAtE"
Two cups were already set out in front of them, she must've been waiting. Emma poured the water, the tea bags lifted slightly, before bobbing back down again once it was filled. She gently placed the kettle back down. "Sit down, I'll join you in a moment." The other woman idly walked over to the loveseat. Dropping onto it instantly, the soft cushions made her want to fall back asleep. The gardener dropped two spoonfuls of sugar into both the cups, the water melted it almost instantly.
Picking up both their drinks, she walked over to join her better half.
She laid them on the coffee table and sat next to her. Tracy openly invited the new come warmth. Emma threw her arm around her, resting her other hand on her knee. Neither of them bothered to say anything. Maybe silence was enough.
Still. The touch of another was comforting.
