Work Text:

Everyone gathered around as Johann lit the candles.

Nono and Finger, having had their fill of alcohol, started singing some weird version of “Happy Birthday” as Luminous tried his best to keep them upright. Caesar paid them no mind as he watched the light of the flame flicker in Johann’s golden eyes. The site was alluring, and when Johann finally looked at him, Caesar found he couldn’t breathe right. The blond clutched his chest and shakily took a deep breath to steady himself before blowing out the candles. He might have secretly used his EX to blow out the candles, but only Johann really noticed as the other three were distracted by the tier cake before them.

“Are you okay?” Johann asked, a small frown on his face as he reached out and stole Caesar’s hand away from his suit jacket, holding it between his gloveless hands.

“I’m okay.” Caesar coughed, bringing up his other arm to try and hide his flared up cheeks.

“Have you caught a cold?”

Caesar shook his head, “No, you're just too cute for your own good.”

“Cute?” The brunet huffed. Caesar didn’t know if it was in retaliation for what he said or just Johann’s antics but the Lionheart president brought Caesar’s hand up to his lips and kissed the blond’s knuckles still keeping eye contact with Caesar, which was not good for the blond’s heart which was already skipping beats and filled with butterflies.

“Okay… I get it not cute.” Caesar hummed, using his other hand to cup the brunet’s cheek, slowly stroking Johann’s cheek with his thumb, “Cute is too... vague, but I can’t think of another word right now. You’re too distracting darling.”

The blond closed his eyes before he leaned in and captured his boyfriend’s lips in a short kiss before placing his forehead on the brunet’s. The party, if it hadn’t already, became non-existent as they stood in their own little world, devoid of worries and distractions. Johann pulled Caesar’s other arm over his shoulder before he snaked his arms around the blond’s lower back, tugging him impossibly closer.

“I have one last gift for you. If you are ready.” Johann whispered, as Caesar slowly opened his eyes once again to see clear and focused gold.

“The gift can wait. I just want to enjoy this moment with you. No distractions.”

“Thought you said I was a distraction?” Johann smirked as Caesar gave him an annoyed look, but didn’t let go. Instead, he brought Johann in for another kiss.

‘Guess it’ll just have to wait.’ The brunet thought to himself, thinking back to the black velvet box that sat in his pocket,

‘There is always tomorrow.’
