Essence of Triple Crush

Summary:

What if Majima visited Hogushi Kaikan during Cabaret Club Grand Prix instead? Of course, what he finds there might also turn out a little differently…

It's 2006 and Sotenbori awaits.

Notes:

This is the result of the KazuMaji and MajiMako sides of my heart teaming up. Not to mention how much the Kiryu & Makoto scenes in Y0 left an Impression.

We're pretending the main story in Kiwami 2 either already happened, or isn’t going to happen, and the Cabaret Club Grand Prix is the biggest thing going on.

Rating might go up if I'm feeling spicy (but probably not).

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1

Summary:

Multitasking, formal wear, evening plans.

Chapter Text

> Majima, Four Shine

Majima Goro considers himself great at multitasking.

He’s had enough practice.

Watching over both patrons and staff while flitting from conversation to conversation at the Grand. Taking on entire swarms of small-time yakuza brats as he strolls around Shofukucho, the Champion District, Sotenbori Ave, Nakamichi Alley… you name it. Honing in on countless opponents one after another, coordinating elbow strikes with swishes of his tanto, maybe kneeing someone in the balls just to spice it up. Y’know how it is.

Not to mention his whole construction operation. He could go on.

This is why Majima knows he’s doing an impeccable job of commentating Four Shine play by play, all the while surreptitiously ogling Kiryu Kazuma as he drifts around the room in a tux that fits him like a second skin.

The Dragon of Dojima. In a tux.

Something feels incongruous about that, seeing the man he loves to rough up in Kamurocho’s grimy back alleys carry himself with an unexpected, almost mythological grace, seeing him bow his head to someone outside of the yakuza world.

…Mythological, eh?

Then, befitting a dragon, maybe. Majima can’t get enough of it.

He’s surprisingly good at it, too. After all, Kiryu Kazuma is not someone known for his polished decorum and social graces. His strengths lie elsewhere, thinks Majima, darting his eye up and down Kiryu’s powerful back as he walks past, watching thick arms pour delicate glasses of gold champagne. Majima wasn’t here for the start of this venture, but Kiryu seems to have settled into the role perfectly. Perhaps he should come in as a customer someday. Request Kiryu-chan.

As much as Majima detests Sotenbori, he’s glad he decided to come back for the Grand Prix — and not just because of Kiryu’s sexy customer service smile, though that helps. There’s also Yuki, Youda, and now Koyuki, and all the other hostesses he’s gotten to know. There’s old timers from the original Club Sunshine that come around to say hello from time to time. Really, it feels just like before, just like that first time around the block, and for once, this is a bit of Sotenbori nostalgia that Majima doesn’t mind, though it’s hard to keep the rest from flooding back along with it.

But, he has to admit, having Kiryu-chan here changes things.

At least, a little bit. Kiryu brings a hint of Kamurocho—a taste of Majima’s current reality—to all this heavy, threatening sentimentality hanging over his head in Sotenbori.

Like an anchor.

Majima wonders how much Kiryu will let him get away with today. This evening the Four Shine crew is abuzz with plans to celebrate Shoko’s birthday, which, as the manager, Kiryu has taken upon himself to organize. It’s cute. Majima can’t wait to see where the night will lead, or more specifically, if Kiryu would allow himself to be dragged along for an after-hours date. Probably would, he smirks.

They’re not together. No, not in that sense — though Majima wouldn’t mind, if he were being entirely honest.

They have fun though.

Back when Kiryu first got out of prison, their relationship turned real physical real quick. In all sorts of ways. One minute they’re beating the daylights out of each other behind the Smile Burger, and the next, they’re attached at the lips (and hands, and…) without any intention of letting go. Also behind the Smile Burger, but that’s beside the point.

Majima doesn’t envy Kiryu’s current situation one bit — though he has to admit, the kid he’s picked up is adorable. A lot has happened to him over the past year or so; Majima can sympathize, and he’s tried to do what he could to make things easier on him. Well, in his own way. Whether Kiryu-chan can appreciate it or not.

At this point, Kiryu’s doing what he needs to be doing—or at least, what Kiryu thinks he needs to be doing—and Majima is not about to get in the way. He’ll be there for him, and he knows if worst came to worst, Kiryu would do the same. They’re great together like that, Majima thinks with a grin on his face. In the meantime, he will get his fill of Kiryu-chan whenever he can, and offer a well-timed distraction or a word of advice whenever he needs one. Whatever’s between them is genuine and strong and unbreakable, which is the important thing.

As for the rest? Well, Majima knows better than to look a gift horse in the mouth. It’s probably the best he’s ever been, really. Now he’s got Majima Construction and Nishida and the rest of his crew and he’s moved on from Tojo. It’s a good deal.

“Majima-no-niisan?”

The sparkle in Kiryu’s rich brown eyes catches him off guard, and not for the first time.

“Kiryu-chan… everyone ready?” asks Majima. The club has closed up just a little while ago and the girls are still in the dressing room.

Kiryu nods. “I’m going on ahead to the restaurant. Want to come keep me company?”

“Anything for you, Kiryu-chan!” croons Majima, as he grabs him by the elbow and leads him out the door.

It’s going to be a good night.

He can tell.
