Notes:

Okay! So this fic has been in the works for... 6 months, now? I wrote most of it (theandroidsentbycyberlife8592, that is), but part of the beginning and some snippets that I put in between that was originally part of the planning doc was written by royalblade! And Nazorin76 helped plan this fic out, so I'm giving them credit where credit is due and putting them as my cowriters.

Other people I want to thank are NK, my beloved beta reader, and Dima, an amazing friend who came up with the idea of the daiharyo city playlist! Don't be shy, listen to this playlist when reading, and join the yearning.

We all discussed this over at the Balance: Unlimited simp club, so if you wanna pop on over, say hi, join us!

That is all! We'll update this every two-three days until it's done, so be sure to stay tuned!

Chapter Text

“Your job is to protect Prime Minister Matsumoto,” Sakamoto tells them.

Haru and Daisuke have been called for a meeting after lunch one day, and are pretty surprised to see that it’s with Sakamoto, not Kiyomizu. Even more surprising is the presence of Ryo.

But having to protect the Prime Minister? Nothing’s more surprising than that.

“Why us of all people? We’re from the Task Force,” Haru says, “Wouldn’t the First Division use some of their own to do something as hectic as this?”

Sakamoto says, “The Prime Minister specifically requested for Kambe-san.”

Of course it’s not surprising; as the resident rich person, Daisuke would know the Prime Minister, and as such would be trustworthy.

“Then why is Hoshino-san here?” Daisuke says, “Kato-san and I can handle this on our own.”

Ryo still hasn’t taken his eyes off from Haru, and it seems like he isn’t paying attention. Neither is Haru, who’s been looking at Daisuke the whole time. From an outsider’s perspective, it would look like only Daisuke’s paying attention.

“That’s the thing,” Sakamoto says, “Since you two do not have the authority to do such an important job, Hoshino-kun here will be leading you. I picked him since he is the most familiar with you, and because Takei-san held him in high regard. I expect you to get along. Understood?”

“Yes, sir,” Haru, Daisuke, and Ryo say at the same time.

“Now, as you know, Prime Minister Matsumoto had an attempt on his life last night. You will first investigate his office, and then protect him as you see fit. Any questions?”

No one’s got any questions, for the instructions were very clear.

“Very well, I see there are no questions. You are dismissed.”

And as everyone walks out of the meeting, all three people wonder the same thing.

What had they gotten themselves into?

I am sorry for the small sliver. There will be more. I promise.
