Chapter Text
It’s just what it sounds like - invisible girl Toru and invisible baby Shizuka are the same person! For this fic, I decided to age up Toru so that she is closer to the age of Josuke and Okuyasu instead of being 15 years younger, and Joseph continued practicing Hamon so he looks more like part 3 Joseph than part 4. Also Caesar is still alive because he is Babey and I don’t know how Joseph survived this long without him. Toru was adopted by Joseph after her family was killed by Yoshikage. Her first name is Shizuka but she goes by Toru, and her last name is hyphenated (although that isn’t in official documentation like school records) so that she could keep her birth parents’ name.
**Secondary Note: Quirks and stands are mutually exclusive - anyone who has a stand cannot develop a quirk, and vise versa
Characters:
Shizuka Toru Hagakure-Joestar
Age: 15 Stand/Quirk: Achtung Baby
*Stand/quirk note: In BNHA, Toru’s quirk is simply called “invisibility” and while it’s not specifically verified, I believe that quirks are named by the doctors (pediatricians?) who diagnose or analyse children’s quirks. Stands, unlike quirks, are named by their users or by other stand users, like how Avdol named Star Platinum after the tarot card. This means that in this fic, Tooru’s “quirk” will be named invisibility while still technically being Achtung Baby.
**Stand note: I haven't decided on the stats for Achtung Baby yet. In JJBA, they're severely skewed and not very flexible for combat, but as she grows older there would be evolution in the stand's ability (like the appearance of ZA WARUDO in Star Platinum).
*Naming note: The name “Shizuka” can also be read as “Jo”, so when paired with her adopted last name, she could be called Jo Joestar. Haven’t decided if I want to make her called Jojo or not.
Josuke Higashikata
Age: 18
Stand: Crazy Diamond
Okuyasu Nijimura
Age: 18
Stand: The Hand
Joseph Joestar
Age: 80; Looks age 60
Stand: Hermit Purple
Other Abilities: Hamon, American Clackers
Caesar Zeppeli Age: 82; Looks age 60
Stand: None (should I make one for him?)
Other Abilities: Hamon, can see stands by channeling Hamon to his eyes (I chose to do this partially so that Caesar can actually see stands, but also because Hamon has the same qualities as sunlight. Light through the lens of the eye causes sight, so he uses Hamon to essentially boost his vision to make stands visible.)
Notes:
This isn't an actual chapter, sorry for the disappointment! I'm just a few days away from finals, so I don't have time to write anything decent right now.
On a different note, I was considering Tooru's quirk (I had to do a little research because I'm not caught up on season 4) and I learned that she's gained some abilities in light refraction. This makes me think that somehow Toru's quirk could be related to gold nanoparticles, which can be used in different solutions to either scatter or focus beams of light. If she is scattering or "bending" the light, she would appear invisible. This is just my nerd brain being nerdy and its unlikely this will have any part in this story.
Chapter 2: Diamond Is Unbreakable, Quirk Isn't Invisible

Chapter 1: Diamond is Unbreakable, Quirk Isn't Invisible
Toru was sitting in the cafeteria laughing with Mina and Ochako about Kaminari who had just been gesturing widely. So widely, in fact, that he had flung a good portion of rice into Bakugou’s face. Most people would’ve been concerned for Kaminari’s life with the ensuing explosions from Bakugou’s palms, but this was a fairly normal occurrence for Class 1-A. Toru had leaned over to brush some of the rice off of the table when her phone buzzed on the table.
She picked it up, ignoring Bakugo’s continued yelling and assorted curses, and stared at the message she had just received:
Josuke: Toru!! Me and Okuyasu are going to pick u up from school today
A huge grin spread across her face (not that anyone could tell) as she typed back quickly.
Toru: Does this mean that padre is going to let me stop training Achtung Baby’s invisibility?? I don’t even think my classmates know I can become visible lol
Josuke: I dont know, I can ask Caesar if you want?
Toru: Dont worry about it, I’ll just ask him myself
With that, she closed the chat with Josuke and opened the one labeled Padre and relayed the question. The loud ringing of the school bell yanked Toru out of her thoughts and she realised that it was time for classes again. With a final glance at her half-finished lunch, she got up and threw it away before jogging to catch up with Mina and Ochako again.
“So,” Mina chirped, “you girls got any plans for the weekend? I saw these super cute crop tops at GU last time we visited the mall.”
“Well I’m free to go on Saturday,” Ochako offered. “Although, I’m not really sure if I’ll buy anything.” Her sentence trailed off slightly, an embarrassed blush tinting her cheeks. Toru gazed at her sympathetically; Ochako always worked so hard for her family and she deserved to catch a break once and a while.
“No worries! I’ll just be happy to hang out with you guys!” Toru replied, trying to ease her friend’s embarrassment. “But some of my family is coming to visit and I’ll be spending time with them too.”
By this point, they had reached the classroom and met up with the rest of their class.
“Oi, Toru-bro!” Kirishima had called out with a grin, “Your family is coming to visit? I don’t think we’ve ever met them before.” Kaminari, Sero, and Bakugou were with him and the former two nodded in agreement.
“Yeah! Now that I think about it, we’ve met a lot of each others’ families but I don’t think you’ve ever talked about what your family is like. What’s up with that? They weird or something?” Sero asked jokingly.
Toru tilted her head and a small smile grew on her face, ‘Oh, you have no idea,’ thinking back to how her family had battled fitness gods, vampires, and a serial killer with a hand fetish. She never got the chance to voice these thoughts before Aizawa-sensei got their attention from the front of the room, yellow sleeping bag in hand.
“Enough chit-chat,” he spoke in his usual, tired drawl. “Sit down and quit wasting time."
Class had gone on as usual, nothing out of the ordinary, no unwelcome villain attacks or claims of All Might’s destruction. Fortunately, Aizawa was too tired to assign them homework for the weekend (at least, that was what he said) and the bell had just signaled that school was over for the day.
Even though everyone had fully moved into the on-campus dorms, most of Class 1-A was leaving school grounds to hang out in Musutafu. It was a Friday after all, and they couldn’t let Aizawa-sensei’s lack of homework go to waste.
“Oi,” Kaminari spoke, his confused tone cutting through the ongoing conversation. “Who the hell are those two thugs standing by the gate?”
The group turned as one to look at ‘those two thugs’ and Toru almost had to stuff her fist in her mouth to stifle her laughter. It was Okuyasu and Josuke in all of their pompadour glory. They hadn’t noticed her walking toward them and seemed to be in deep in a serious conversation.
Momo looked worried and began walking slower to keep distance between the group and the two boys. “Do you guys think they’re here to cause trouble?”
This comment caused Iida to make aggressive chopping motions with his hands. “I, as class president, shall let them know that they need to leave the premises if they are planning to cause trouble. We should also notify the teachers so that they do not cause problems in the future!.”
“Whoa, whoa!” Toru exclaimed. “It’s okay everyone! They’re my family.”
This was clearly not what her friends had expected her to say. She could see the clear surprise on everyone’s faces at this admission. She stepped in front of the group and called out to them.
“Josuke! Okuyasu! Over here!”
Two heads turned in the direction of the group, looking for the person who called their names. Twin overjoyed grins spread across their faces, totally shattering their thuggish first impression. As they ran up to her, she could almost see them as two excitable puppies that were ecstatic to see their owner at the end of the day.
Josuke reached her first and her brother scooped her up and hugged her. Toru’s feet were almost a whole foot off the ground as she hugged him back. Okuyasu reached them and instead of waiting his turn for a hug, just wrapped his arms around brother and sister, squashing them into an even tighter hug. Normally, this type of hug would be too tight for most people. Fortunately, when most of your family has a musculature rivaling the best professional bodybuilders, you get used to it.
When the hug had ended and Toru’s feet had a chance to meet up with the floor again, she turned back to her friends. Their completely baffled expressions made her have to hold in another laugh.
“Oh, yeah,” Josuke spoke up from behind her, “we asked your padre about training your abilities and he said you were allowed to cancel your invisibility after we picked you up.” Whoops, she had completely forgotten to check if padre had sent any text messages after lunch.
“WHAT??!?!?”
If Class 1-A wasn’t surprised before, they certainly were now. Tsuyu was eyeing her thoughtfully, while Mina and Ochako’s eyes were huge in surprise. She could see Midoriya reaching into his backpack for his notebook and he was muttering indiscernibly. Iida may have been saying something about how not telling teachers about the entirety of your quirk is irresponsible, but she couldn’t hear that well over Bakugou’s explosions. He seemed extremely angry . . . for some reason.
Notes:
Finals are over, yay!!
I'm not super sure what direction I want to lead this story yet. What I do know is that I want to give Toru a JoBro and if you have any suggestions for who you want that to be, put them in the comments. Just remember that depending on who is picked, they may not have a stand because of the having a quirk = no stand rule I made. Note: I'm working my way through BNHA season 4 now, and I'm part way through JJBA SBR. I (for obvious reasons) won't write about any characters that are ahead of my point in the series.
Thanks for reading!

Chapter 2: Family Dinner
“WHAT??!?!?”
If Class 1-A wasn’t surprised before, they certainly were now. Tsuyu was eyeing her thoughtfully, while Mina and Ochako’s eyes were huge in surprise. She could see Midoriya reaching into his backpack for his notebook and he was muttering indiscernibly. Iida may have been saying something about how not telling teachers about the entirety of your quirk is irresponsible, but she couldn’t hear that well over Bakugou’s explosions. He seemed extremely angry . . . for some reason.
“These guys are your family?” Kaminari asked, breaking the awkward surprise.
“Yeah, this is my brother, Josuke.” She made sure to gesture so that the sleeve of her uniform pointed to the correct boy. “And this,” she began, moving to gesture toward the other boy, “is Okuyasu and he might as well be my brother with how close he is to our family.”
“His hair -”
Oh no. Bakugou, please don’t.
“- Looks freaking amazing!” Kirishima interrupted just in time, oblivious to the crisis that he had just prevented. Thank god. World War III averted. “Dude, it looks so manly!”
“Oh!” Josuke turned his attention to the redhead, a huge smile growing to match the one on Kirishima’s face. “Yours looks cool, too! Does it spike like that naturally? What kind of product do you use?”
‘Okay. Well I wasn’t expecting them to become such fast friends, but then again, their personalities are just too wholesome to not go well together.’ Toru thought as the two struck up a conversation about different hair products.
“So you’ve got some explaining to do,” Mina began. “You can turn your quirk off?” She looked a little hurt.
This question caught the class’s attention immediately. “Umm, yeah I can. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you!” Toru began, giving her audience an apologetic bow. “My padre had me doing endurance training to keep my full invisibility over long periods of time. I didn’t tell you all because I didn’t want you to make you all curious and then be unable to show you what I look like.”
Aoyama, surprisingly, was the first one to speak up. “Toru, mon amie, it is admirable of you to be training for so long ☆” He paused to flip his hair before continuing, “And if I may confirm that ‘padre’ is italian for ‘father’?”
Toru hummed an affirmation at his question. “My padre is italian, which is why I call him that.”
“Wait, so you’ve been doing training for the entire time we’ve been at UA?” Apparently the conversation had recaptured Kirishima’s attention. “That’s like super manly, bro! Your. . . umm . . . padre? seems like a cool guy! Do you think we could train with you guys sometime?”
Toru blinked in surprise. Although, looking back on it, she shouldn’t have been as surprised as she was. All of her classmates were aspiring heroes after all, and variation in training styles never hurts. Dad and padre both knew this, despite never being a part of the hero profession. And her friends should probably learn about stand users since Toru is one herself.
“Yeah,” she replied after a moment. “Yeah, I think we could manage that. How about I ask about it when I see them and I’ll text you guys later?”
“That sounds great!” Ochako replied with a smile. “I guess we’ll hear from you later, then. It was nice to meet you, Josuke, Okuyasu.”
She gave them a wave and the rest of the class followed suit, offering some “nice to meet you”s as they went their separate ways.
The three of them had broken away from the group to walk to Josuke’s car when Okuyasu settled an arm on her left shoulder.
“Your friends seem like cool people, imouto.”
“Yeah.” Toru smiled, “They are cool people. Although,” her smile turned mischievous, “I don’t think they know what they’re signing up for by asking to train with padre and dad.”
Josuke looped his arm around her shoulders with a chuckle. “Our family is pretty bizarre, isn’t it?”
“Wait,” Mina stopped, squinting her eyes at the car that had just driven away. The group of students turned to her as her expression turned to a disappointed pout. “She didn’t turn visible for us.”
“No shit, racoon eyes. Shitty hair over here wouldn’t shut up about that weirdo’s stupid haircut.”
“Aw come on, Bakubro,” Kirishima exclaimed, dropping a hand on his shoulder. He received a glower in return. “That Josuke’s hair was epic! Did you see the height he got with that pomp?”
“You’re getting distracted again.” Mina deadpanned, her pout still firmly in place.
Midoriya was the one to speak up. “W-we’ll get to see her again, though? Either at school or if we get to train with them, anyways.”
“Hey yeah, you’re right!” His explanation had clearly reignited her excitement and she tugged him into a hug. Quiet stuttering could be heard from the now-blushing boy (and complaints from Mineta before being punted in the shin by Ochako). “Alright! Now let’s go get food because I’m starving.”
Two men sat together in a bustling restaurant.
The first was a blond man wearing a pristine white suit with a checkerboard patterned tie. The only spot of color on his otherwise monochromatic attire was an unusual pink and purple belt that had a tessellated triangle motif. His attire perfectly reflected his cool, charismatic presence which shone through green eyes that could pierce your soul easier than any knife. He was Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli.
The man next to him was contrastingly different, and not only in his attire. This man has untamed brown hair and beard with more than a few grey streaks through it. He was wearing a black turtleneck with a bolo tie that was clasped with a large red gem. The khaki pants and white gloves he wore were nice enough to keep him from looking out of place next to his companion. Unlike his companion, he had a huge grin and a loud, boisterous personality to go with it. He was Joseph Joestar.
They both had distinctly European features, along with their towering, muscular figures, that made them stand out from the crowd. They didn’t look very old - maybe in their 50s or 60s - but they bickered like a couple that had been married for a very long time.
“How dare you, JoJo. How dare you disgrace my heritage and culture.” Caesar was making a disgusted face at the brunette sitting next to him.
“I‘ll have you know that pineapple pizza is a delicious creation,” Joseph sniffed pompously, like a lady who was just insulted at her own cocktail party.
The action caused Caesar to huff a breath - a sound somewhere between a laugh and playful annoyance. “Why do I put up with you?”
“Because you are clearly infatuated with my good looks.”
“You’re right -”
“Of course I am!”
“- because you don’t have enough intelligence for me to be attracted to that, polpetto.”
Joseph laid a gloved hand across his chest with a gasp, “You wound me! How could you be so abusive to your dear husband?” He draped himself over his husband’s side, fingers hooked into the blond’s belt loops to drag his chair closer.
Caesar rolled his eyes at the exaggerated dramatics, but placed a hand over the ones at his hip anyway. Joseph leaned in and pressed a scratchy kiss to the one of the purple birthmarks on Caesar’s cheekbone, silently resolving their mock argument. Instead of returning the kiss, Caesar stroked over his husband’s knuckles with the pad of his thumb.
The moment was broken when four teenagers made their appearance at the table, including a now-visible Toru.
“Oi, old man! You’re paying for our food, right? I’m starving!”
Koichi, embarrassed at Josuke’s rash behavior, immediately added, “You don’t have to pay, Mr. Joestar, we can pay for ourselves.”
Joseph grinned at them, the expression strikingly similar to Josuke’s, and released Caesar from his embrace. “Nonsense! What kind of cool dad wouldn’t pay for his kids’ dinners?!” he exclaimed, waving a gloved hand in the air, “C’mon, sit down and order already.”
Toru walked around the table to give both of her fathers a quick hug before sitting down next to Caesar as the three boys sat down across from them. Josuke and Okuyasu’s loud voices drew some attention as they bickered over which of the dishes were the best, and Koichi was stuck trying to placate them. Joseph easily joined into the argument, which only drew more eyes to their table.
Caesar took the distraction to lean toward his adopted daughter. “It’s good to see you, stellina.” He spoke warmly, taking a moment to press a kiss to her temple. “You’ll have to tell us about school, okay?”
“Yeah,” she smiled cheerfully, “I told my friends about our training, too. They wanted to know if they could join in sometime.”
“I-” he paused, surprise evident on his face, “We’ll have to talk about that first. Training with us would mean revealing our stands, and I’m not sure that’s the smartest move for us to make.”
Toru nodded. It was a fair response, revealing the existence of stands would be a risky move because of publicity and media attention. It could be like putting a target on their backs for other stand users to find them.
For now, though, she was going to enjoy the company of her family and friends. Dinner was just as rowdy as expected with the Joestar family.
Notes:
Hehe I love me some Caesar/Joseph fluff. The two nicknames that Caesar used mean meatball (I thought this one was hilarious, and its also a genuine pet name in Italian) and star respectively. I actually wasn’t planning on writing it that fluffy but I was listening to Jet Lag by NCT 127 (10/10 song btw) while writing this and it just kinda happened ya know? Anyway, I really want to keep these characters within their canonical personalities, so if you guys feel that any character’s dialogue/actions/interactions don’t fit, let me know!
On a different note, I have classes beginning soon so updates will probably become sporadic and farther apart. I really want to continue this story and I don’t plan on abandoning it; stay tuned!
Chapter 4: **Author's Note, Not an Update**
Chapter Text
I’m so grateful for everyone who has taken the time to read my fic thus far! I’ve run into a variety of issues that have kept me from working on this story; the largest is simply the fact that I had no idea where I wanted this plot to go, combined with me not being caught up on the MHA storyline.
I’m very slowly working on a rewrite of what I already had conceptualized plus what hasn’t been posted yet. I’m also working on some character art. Currently, it’s looking like a long time before I post anything but please remain hopeful! When I do finally get around to posting things, I will delete these chapters posted and replace them with the new ones.
Again, thank you everyone who has interacted!
