Tis the Baking Season

Summary:

Happily in love Yoongi, Seokjin, and Taehyung spend some time baking Christmas goodies and just being in love!

Notes:

Hello! I'm here with my favorite ot3- YoonTaeJin! I'm so happy I can write this au.

Hopefully it's as sweet as the sugar cookies and Russian Teacakes they baked!

Also, the teacakes are just rolled dough with chopped walnuts and then after they've been baked, they're rolled in powdered sugar. They're delicious.

And the butter thing with the glass is very much true. Look it up and try it if you need to soften butter in a pinch (or 15 mins at least)!

Prompt:

Work Text:

Seokjin huffs as he places a couple extremely heavy grocery bags on the kitchen counter. He’s starting to sweat under his winter coat and scarf, and his lovers are doing nothing to help him carry any of the bags.

“What’s with the…” Taehyung wanders into the kitchen and takes a peek into a bag, “flour?”

Seokjin shoves off his coat, folding it along with his scarf on a chair, and smiles brightly, cheeks a pleasant pink. “Baking!” comes his gleeful answer.

Yoongi shuffles into the kitchen and also takes a peek. “Are we baking for an army?”

“No, but you know Kookie,” Seokjin replies while Yoongi nods along. “I have six more bags in the car, now both of you get them while I start unpacking,” the eldest explains as he shoos the other two men out of the kitchen.

“But hyung,” Taehyung whines, “it’s warm inside and you haven’t given me a hello kiss.” Taehyung pouts and puckers his mouth, silently asking for a kiss.

“Aigoo,” Seokjin coos as he frames the younger’s cheeks with his cold hands, eliciting a shriek from the younger. Seokjin laughs and leans forward to peck the eager Taehyung’s pouty mouth before letting him go and pushing him towards the entryway, where Yoongi is putting his shoes on. “Bags. Now. The stores were hell today with Christmas so close.”

Taehyung grumbles and follows suit, slipping his shoes on and whining into Yoongi’s shoulder.

As the two men leave, Seokjin starts rearranging their small pantry, looking to fit several bags of flour, sugar, brown sugar, and assortments of mix-ins and decorations for cookies. He’s in the process of rearranging the fridge, pulling out left-overs for space and supper, as Taehyung and Yoongi re-enter the flat, the youngest complaining about the cold.

“Hyung! We have the goods!” Taehyung’s attitude changing as he enters the warm kitchen, smiling widely. “What’re we making this year hyung?”

“Here hyung,” Yoongi grunt as he heaves the heaviest bags onto the counter.

“Thank you baby; you could’ve left the bags on the floor. I appreciate it thought,” Seokjin says as he gives Yoongi a soft kiss on the shorter man’s plush cheek. Seokjin turns back to the counter and starts emptying the bags as he replies to Taehyung. “We have ginger bread and sugar cookies planned among others my Taehyungie. Leave the walnuts out Tae-tae; I’ll have you chop them up tonight for the Russian Teacakes,” Seokjin explains as he starts arranging the eggs and butter neatly in the fridge.

“Pretzels?” Yoongi asks as he pulls out two large bags.

Seokjin turns around with a bright smile. “Yes! Chocolate and white chocolate covered pretzels with sprinkles. Though I think the bark I got is peppermint. Oh well, Hoseokie still likes them,” Seokjin explains with a shrug.

“Hyung are we also doing Chex-Mix?” Taehyung asks excitedly as he stacks frosting canisters on the counter. Seokjin smiles brightly as he sees the younger man start to search. “Yes, because I know it’s your favorite to snack on during the holidays.”

Taehyung laughs joyously as he pulls out a three pack box of Chex cereals. “And rye chips!” The man whoops as he keeps the like ingredients together in a bag.

The three men keep unloading bags as Seokjin directs them on where to put things. It takes no time at all for everything to be put away and the three lovers relax in the living room before reheating food for supper.

“Food, Taehyung chops up the walnuts, shower, then bed!” Seokjin lists off and Yoongi grunts in response.

“Cuddles too?” Yoongi asks as his hand grabs Seokjin’s.

“You bet,” Seokjin replies softly and kisses the man on the cheek. “Me too hyung!” Taehyung grouses from the other side and Seokjin laughs before turning and kissing the younger man on the cheek as well.

“All right loves, up we go!”

Yoongi and Taehyung summarily hold onto Seokjin’s arms as he tries to get up, and snuggle closer.

“Just a few minutes more hyung,” Taehyung mutters into the eldest’s arm.

Seokjin lays his head back on the couch and smiles to the ceiling as he takes in the impromptu cuddling session.

“Just a few more minutes.”

Next Afternoon

“Hyung the butter’s not softened yet,” Taehyung pouts as he begins mixing the ingredients for sugar cookies.

Seokjin looks over from where he’s been measuring for ginger bread with Yoongi. “Oh shit! I forgot to set them out last night.”

“Hyung don’t worry,” Yoongi interrupts, leaving their workspace to grab the sticks of butter and glass cups.

“What’re you doing Yoongichi?” Seokjin asks.

“Just wait.” Yoongi fills the glasses with water and quickly heats them up in the microwaves. Afterwards, he dumps the water, places the butter standing up on the counter and then places the hot glass cups over them, effectively covering it. “Let’s finish up measuring,” Yoongi says and moves back over to Seokjin.

It takes about 15 minutes, but when done, Yoongi hands his loves perfectly softened butter that earns him numerous kisses from both Seokjin and Taehyung.

“Yah, genius Min Yoongi at it again!” Taehyung exclaims with hearts in his eyes.

“I wish Tae-ah but we can thank the internet for that,” Yoongi replies with a laugh and fond shake of his head. “Oh,” Taehyung pouts before shrugging and weighing the correct amount of butter needed for the dough. “We’re gonna pretend it was hyung,” the younger man whispers into the mixing bowl.

Seokjin and Yoongi snort a laugh into their own mixing bowl and go back to work.

“Hyungs, you’ll help with cutting them out right?” Taehyung asks a bit later as Seokjin rolls and covers the ginger bread dough to be put in the fridge for a while. “Of course we will Tae-ah,” Yoongi responds from the small pantry, searching for said cookie cutters, while Seokjin grunts his affirmation.

“Roll out the dough Taehyungie,” Seokjin calls out as he stores away the ginger bread dough.

“Yeah, it’s time to use your brand new muscles Tae-ah,” Yoongi jokes as he hands Taehyung the rolling pin.

Seokjin snorts as he turns back to the counter. “We’ll use those when we need to roll out the ginger dough.”

“Well since we don’t want me over exerting, help me out Seokie-hyung,” Taehyung turns to Seokjin with a cute look. The older man grimaces and swats the younger man on his butt. “Warm dough makes for easier rolling out, do it yourself.”

Taehyung’s lower lip comes out in a pout and makes puppy eyes at his hyung. When that doesn’t work, he turns to Yoongi who merely holds his hands up and looks away. “Oh pick up your lower lip Taehyungie or it’ll get dirty,” Seokjin tsks as he throws a small bit of dough at the younger man.

Taehyung giggles before finally sprinkling some flour on the counter and begins rolling out the dough. Yoongi preheats the oven and prepares the trays before standing next to Taehyung, wrapping an arm around the younger’s waist.

“That should be good love,” Yoongi comments, resting his chin on Taehyung’s shoulder and giving the other a light kiss. “Let’s cut some cookies hyung!” Taehyung shouts, hurriedly reaching for the Christmas themed cookie cutters.

Seokjin slides over to the duo and grabs a tree and presses in. “Huh, when did we get holiday ones?” Seokjin asks, looking at the tree after pulling the tree shape out.

“Last week. I went looking for them but we only had Halloween shaped ones,” Yoongi replies, pressing in a star.

Taehyung hovers a hand over the cookie cutter collection before selecting a reindeer and a bell. The three cut out a few cookies before Taehyung collects the leftover pieces and re-rolls out the dough. It takes them some time, considering the recipe makes well over 4 dozen cookies.

“So many cookies to decorate,” Taehyung complains as Seokjin pulls out another done batch from the oven.

“Maybe Jungkook can help decorate some tomorrow when he comes to stay?” Yoongi suggests as he leans on the counter.

“Good idea,” Taehyung agrees, “He better decorate all the ones he’ll take with him.”

Seokjin snorts, “That’ll probably be half of them.” He sets in the final batch of sugar cookies and wipes his hands on his apron. “All righty, next is…” Seokjin pauses as he looks over his list of goodies to make. “Russian Teacakes.”

Taehyung and Yoongi go over to the sink to wash and dry the bowls and utensils Seokjin will be using, chattering about their friends coming to visit and stay with them tomorrow. Seokjin uses the time to take a quick picture of the duo, managing to capture Taehyung flicking soap bubbles at Yoongi. The elder man snickers as he posts it on Instagram, loving the way Yoongi looks with his scrunched nose. He truly does look like a disgruntled kitty, Seokjin snickers mentally.

He tucks his phone away to pull out his ingredients and gets to measuring. Seokjin has Taehyung help him roll the dough, the younger occasionally feeding him loose walnuts.

“Be careful rolling them in the powdered sugar love,” Seokjin gently warns Yoongi as the first batch comes out. “I know hyung,” Yoongi murmurs, carefully grabbing and dropping the hot teacakes into a pan of powdered sugar; the shorter man occasionally blowing on his fingers when the heat gets a little too much.

By the time they’re all done with the teacakes, Yoongi’s fingertips are red from the heat and both Taehyung and Seokjin takes some time to gently kiss the digits before pulling the shorter man to the sink to run them through cool water.

“I’m sorry baby,” Seokjin apologizes, frown on his face. “I should’ve done it.”

“It’s okay hyung,” Yoongi replies, a light smile on his face. “I know how much you and Jiminie love the teacakes and I’m happy to help where I can. It’s kind of a tradition for us no?” Yoongi wraps his arms around Seokjin’s tiny waist and gently kisses the elder man’s pout away. Another pair of arms circle around Seokjin’s waist, and the man leans back against the warmth behind him.

“He’s right hyung. You plan all of these delicious treats to really get us in the festive mood and we love helping in any way we can,” Taehyung explains before places a couple of kisses on his hyung’s neck.

Seokjin offers a small smile and basks in the warmth of his lovers’ arms. “Thank you two. I love you both.”

Taehyung softly sighs as he noses the elder’s hair and neck. “I love you both too…. Can we take a short break?” Taehyung asks in an innocent tone, which isn’t really all the innocent.

Yoongi snorts from in front of Seokjin and rests his head on Seokjin’s chest.

“Let’s finish all the baking and then you can have all the fun you want Taehyungie.”

The younger man pulls away from the two men and shouts excitedly.

“What’re we baking next?!”
