Chapter Text

How did this happen? You watched with heavy-lidded eyes as your boyfriend stumbled up the stairs of your shared townhouse. A close friend aided Jimin by holding their arm around his waist, securing Jimin’s arm around his neck. You trailed closely behind, part of you wanting to laugh and the other wanting to scold your boyfriend.

“Thank you,” you said to your friend, for the ride home and for carefully getting Jimin onto your bed. Jimin laughed, slurring a goodbye before he left. After brushing his teeth, you encouraged him to lay down, pressing his shoulder gently. He grabbed your hand on the way down, pulling you with him. “Jimin-” you huffed, he looked at you through glassy, lust-filled eyes.

“No,” you pecked his cheek before pulling yourself back up, removing his clothes, and helping him under the covers. He groaned, his drunkenness losing the fight against sleep. You shook your head, smiling as you looked down at him, brushing your hand through his hair.

After a quick wash, removing your make up and putting on your pajamas, your bed welcomed you warmly. As the quiet settled over the two of you, you chuckled thinking back on the night at the bar. The plan for a quiet night out took a turn and you weren’t exactly sure when that happened. Jimin had an especially stressful week and you hoped to simply enjoy the night with him and your friends, it was nice to see him unravel for a night.

“Baby,” his tired voice surprised you, “do you know how cute you are when you’re annoyed with me?”

You bit your lip, feeling a little bit bad that you were giving him the cold shoulder at one point in the evening.

“It only makes me love you more, you know,” he smirked, his whisper made you weak at the knees. You felt him shuffle as close to you as possible until his lips were nearly touching your ear, sighing deeply. He brought his hand up, patting your hair.

You turned to face him with your noses touching. A drunken haze was still present on his face as he smiled.

“I think you’re cute even when you’re drunk,” you spoke softly.

A grin spread across his lips showing his laugh lines, he touched your cheek, enjoying the feeling of your skin under his fingers.

“Thank you for taking care of me,” his soft voice made your stomach do flips, electricity coursing through your veins, “I feel so safe.”

“Tell me more,” you teased, making him laugh. He yawned, pressing his head deeper into the pillow. You watched as he smiled, his eyelids becoming heavy as he thought about more ways he could compliment you despite that being a joke.

“When I’ve had a stressful time like last week was, coming home to you makes it all worth it,” he opened his eyes again to look at you, “you welcome me home with a tight hug as soon as I walk in the door, and it reassures me I’ll be okay.”

“You know you will be okay, right? The mountains you have to overcome, I’ll always be waiting at the top.”

He chuckled, his cheeks turning red. He covered his face with the sheet, feeling embarrassed, “you see,” his voice muffled by the blanket, “this is what you do to me.”

You pulled the blanket away so he was forced to look at you, he was always so much more bashful when drunk, losing the streak of confidence he often loved to tease you with, “it’s my turn to make you cringe,” you laughed. He watched your eyes crinkle as you laughed, admiring the way you looked.

You sighed, relaxing into the quiet once more.

“I love you,” his tone was soft, enough to put you to sleep. It was easy to become lost in his dark eyes, slightly red from the night of drinking. The way his expression straightened but the slightest smile on his lips let you know he was feeling the same way. You smiled, cuddling into his warmth with a sweet kiss. His giggles filled you up as you rested your head in the crook of his neck.

It didn’t take long for his deep breaths to fill the air, making you smile all the more. He kept his hand around your head. You wrapped your hand around his wrist, rubbing it soothingly with your thumb.

“I love you too, Jimin.”
