Full Moon

Summary:

While spending the night in Garoh, Sheba and Jenna engage in a small conversation.

Notes:

This is a little something I have written. A short scene of Jenna and Sheba talking.
I intend on writing a full novelization of The Lost Age sometime in the future, and I want to write more scenes like this. I am just testing the waters here.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Sheba looked out of the window, staring at the full moon. To her it was somewhat comforting, although she couldn't quite understand why. Perhaps the moon was looking out for her, like a loving parent or a deity of sorts...

Sheba thought a lot about the journey so far. Air's Rock, the werewolves...had she gotten one step closer to figuring out who she was? A feeling of confusion ailed her.

"Sheba, are you still awake?" Jenna asked softly from the other bed with the covers over her head.

"Uhhh... Yeah... I'm just..." Sheba stammered, slightly startled.

"Couldn't sleep?" Jenna asked as she sat up

"Sort of... I was thinking about...things"

"I couldn't sleep either"

"Why?" Sheba asked as she sat on her bed

"Isaac hasn't left my thoughts for a while now." Jenna shrugged "I'm wondering where he is...if he's doing alright...if he's thinking of me as well. I also wonder how everyone in Vale is doing. It's been so long since I was-"

"You know what? You are very lucky" Sheba sighed, turning her attention back to the moon for a second. "You had a normal life. You know who you are, and you weren't a prisoner to the circumstances of your birth."

"I'm sorry" Jenna replied "I'm just feeling very homesick right now"

"It's okay" Sheba murmured

The two of them sat in silence for a moment

"This journey...have you found it enjoyable at all?" Sheba asked quietly.

"Kinda..." Jenna replied "I don't know if I'm okay with the idea of continuing to ignite the lighthouse beacons...but if it means I'll get to be with my parents again-."

Sheba looked down sadly

"Oh! I'm so sorry" Jenna quickly apologized "I'd somehow forgotten that you...umm... never met your parents"

"It's okay, Jenna"

"At least we don't have to travel with Saturos anymore, right?" Jenna smiled slightly.

"Yeah..."

"By the way, I really like your pyjamas"

Sheba briefly looked up and down her nightwear. They were robe-like and made with expensive Xian silk.

"Thanks" Sheba shrugged "It was one of the many gifts I was given because I'm the so-called child of the gods... But anyways, I think it's time we get some sleep. Goodnight Jenna"

"Goodnight Sheba. I'm sure you will find out who you are at some point" Jenna whispered as she layed back down"

"Thank you, Jenna" Sheba replied tucking herself in.

Notes:

I know, it's not very long. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
