Summary:

A day in the life of Katsuki Bakugo: top student of Class 1A, Izuku Midoriya's partner, and his pack's prime omega.

Notes:

Hi, again! Just another story for my Life as a Pack of Pro Heroes series.
I don't have a beta, so all mistakes are my own. I hope you enjoy.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Kaaaaachaaan! My cooking is nowhere near as good as yours! Please!”

Bakugo rolled his eyes, sighing.  “Fine. But you are going to have to clean up.”

Kaminari grinned, barreling over to wrap his arms around his friend and packmate.  “Thaaank you!  I’m sure everyone else will be pleased that you’re cooking this morning and not me.”

“Can it, Dunce Face.  Pull out the shit from the fridge.  Where’s Icy Hot?  He should be down here already.  God only knows he needs as many cooking lessons he can get.”

“That’s rude.” Shoto walked into the kitchen, mumbling.  “I’m not that bad.”

“Yeah and that’s only because you’ve picked up on the basics.  You’re welcome by the way.” Bakugo turned to eye the other omega. The blonde’s eyes narrowed and looked up at the calendar hanging up on the wall.  “Get over here, shithead.”

Todoroki shuffled towards Katsuki, confused.  “Wha-“

“You’re about to start your heat?  You’re early.”

“I don’t – “ Shoto blushed slightly.  “I guess now that you mention it, I do feel a bit feverish.”

“You need to take better care of yourself, Half N Half.  The only reason you’d be going into an early heat is due to stress!  You’re not due for another week.”

“I – “ Todoroki sighed, “I guess I’ve been a bit overwhelmed lately.”

Bakugo growled before grabbing Todoroki’s collar and brining his neck in close.  Shoto moved his head to the side and sighed as he let his friend scent him.  The tension in his shoulders eased almost instantly.

“Take a fucking seat, dumbass.  I’ll make you breakfast and then you need to get to bed.  I’ll let Aizawa know you’re out for the day.”

“I can sti-“

“Don’t even think about it.” Bakugo barked.  Shoto sighed as he took a seat at the counter, watching as Katsuki began taking ingredients that Kaminari passed to him and whisking around the kitchen.  “Pikachu, get Todoroki a water bottle and then start boiling the fucker some water.”

Todoroki smiled as Bakugo began grumbling about useless omegas not being able to take care of themselves.

“Where’s Todoroki?” Kirishima asked as the two made their way into class.  Katsuki sighed at his best friend.

“He’s sick.”

“Sick?” Kirishima’s eyes widened.  “Is he okay? Does he need anything?”

“What the fuck are you gonna do, Shitty Hair?  Take him up a soup and then awkwardly stutter your way through a useless conversation for thirty minutes?”

“Come on, man.  You know I get nervous around him.” The alpha blushed as red as his hair.  “I – I’ve been trying.”

“Kacchan – “ Katsuki looked over and sighed as his boyfriend sat beside him, giving him a pleading look.  “I know you’re worried about him.  But Kirishima might be able to help.”

“Help how, Deku?!  They’ve been skirting around each other for months!  This idiot hasn’t even asked to court him properly!” Bakugo growled.  While he typically didn’t like to get into his friends’ affairs, Bakugo had begun, begrudgingly, to admit to himself that he’s started to grow a soft spot for Todoroki.

“It’s just a stress induced heat, nothing even has to happen, right?”

“Todoroki is in heat?” The bickering couple looked up to the red head.

“Stress heat.  Nothing major.  He’s working himself too hard and needs rest.” Bakugo responded through gritted teeth.

“And?” Izuku prompted as Katsuki glared at the green haired teen. “And an alpha packmate’s scent might sooth him.  I was able to help a bit earlier, but they both insisted I came to class.  Kirishima is pack and with their given – uh – situation, it could help!”

Kirishima perked up at this.  “I can totally help!  I promise I’ll make sure he’s ok.  I’ll wait on him hand and foot.  I’ll even text you with updates!”  The alpha grinned sheepishly, “Come on, man! Let me prove myself! I can h-“

“Ugh! Fine!” The two alphas both smiled as Katsuki sighed, running his hand down his face in exasperation.   “But, if you do anything OTHER than scent him  -“

“Bakubro, you know I would nev-“

Katsuki gnawed on the inside of his cheek.  Kirishima was his best friend.  He knew the other wouldn’t even think of hurting or taking advantage of Shoto.  But the omega in him couldn’t help but worry.

“Get out of my sight.  Just make sure he drinks plenty of water.  Take his temperature in four hours.  Make sure he eats.  Hold him or whatever sappy shit like that he needs.  But if I even suspect you did ANYTHING else, I’ll murder you.”

Kirishima grinned.  “You got it, bro.  I’ll text soon,” he called out as rushed out class, brushing past Aizawa.

The older omega lifted a brow.  “Todoroki is in stress heat, Kirishima is going to handle it.” Bakugo commented, finally settling in his seat.

Aizawa nodded before turning towards the board.

Katsuki sat on the other side of Mina at lunch, the girl in a deep discussion with Kaminari and Jiro.  “Come on, Mina.  There has to be someone you’re interested in?” Kaminari asked.

Ashido sighed, picking at her plate.  “No, no one’s caught my eye.”

“I wouldn’t stress over it, Mina.  Most people don't find their mate in high school.  You still have years,” Jiro encouraged, Kaminari nodding in agreement beside her.
“I know,” she pouted.  “I just  - I feel weird.  Shouldn’t I feel attracted to someone by now?  Shouldn’t I be wanting some type of relationship? I just feel so off. The rest of you guys are either with someone or crushing on someone and I don’t have any interest in it whatsoever.”

“So?” Bakugo asked. “So, you aren’t attracted to anyone.  Who cares?  You don’t need a boyfriend or girlfriend to be happy.”

“But you’re so much happier now that you’re with Midoriya.”

Katsuki blushed.  “I – “ he paused, truly sensing his friends distress over the matter.  Bakugo sighed before containing his anger.  “Deku and I are different.  It’s difficult to explain, and I don’t expect you dumbasses to get it.  But you don’t need someone else.  Not when you have packmates.  Not when you’re doing fine on your own.  There are plenty of people out there who never end up mating that live perfectly fulfilling lives.  Look at All Might for instance.  So, what if you don’t find anyone, you’ll have your pack.  And if you do find someone later in life, you’ll make a damn good mate.  Either way, you’ll be fucking fine, Pinky.  So stop fucking stinking up my lunch area with all your sad ass pheromones.”

Ashido, Denki, and Kyoka stared at the omega in disbelief.  Mina’s eyes softened before wrapping her arms around Bakugo’s waist, resting her head on his shoulder.  “Thank you, Blasty.  That means a lot.”

“Yea, yea.  Get the fuck off me.  Have you guys even gotten lunch?” He looked around at the empty table before growling.  “Is everyone fucking useless?  Get the fuck up and go get lunch! We’re training today, you have to fucking eat!” He pointed his fork at the two omegas across the table.  “I know you two know better.  Denki, your heat is starting this weekend, you need all the fucking substance you can get since you insist on starving yourself during your heats!”

“Fine, we’re going! We’re going!” Kaminari grumbled, dragging up Jiro with him.  Mina gave him one last squeeze before the beta ran off with her friends to the lunch line.

“Goddamnit!”  Bakugo pushed passed Momo and Iida to get a closer few of Hitoshi sprawled out on his stomach, Ojiro and Deku hovering over him.  “Why can’t anyone take care of themselves today!?”

“It’s not his fault, Bakugo.  My attack caught him by surprise.  I didn’t mean to hit him that ha-“

“Zip it, freak! No one fucking asked you.” Katsuki pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to reign in his anger.  Hitoshi and Deku vs Iida and Ojiro had been the last practice round of the day.  Shinso had gotten so much better at combat over the last year and a half.  Him and Deku worked tremendously together.  Against Iida and Ojiro, the exercise should have been a piece of cake.

“Shinso, “ Aizawa’s tired voice sounded behind him.  “Are you okay?”

Hitoshi groaned as he rolled himself over onto his back and propped himself on his elbow.  Bakugo’s eyes narrowed at the sight of Shinso’s condition.  The alpha had a gash across his forehead from the hit to the ground, but other than that, he just looked scuffed up.  “I’m fine.”

“Dumbass, blood is literally dripping into your eyeballs.” Bakugo barked.  Shinso looked up to the angry omega before wincing.  “Jesus, give me your hand.”

“In front of your alpha?” Hitoshi fake gasped.  Bakugo growled, lifting the other boy up.

“I’ll fucking kill you.  Move it, extras.” Katsuki pushed passed everyone, leading the alpha towards the locker room.

Hitoshi sat on the bench as Bakugo rummaged through the cabinets next to the bathroom stalls.  “It’s not that bad, Bakugo.”

“Fucking can it.  And keep that towel on your forehead.”

Hitoshi smiled to himself as he heard the blonde walking back towards him.  “You’re such a dotting omega, Katsuki.  You sure I can’t snatch you up for myself?”

“Don’t even joke like that, prick.”  Katsuki sat in front of the other.  “Deku would kill you.”

“True.” Hitoshi winced as the medicated gauze touched his forehead.  “Can’t believe I let Ojiro sneak up on me like that.”

“You were distracted, weren’t you?”

“No,” Bakugo glared at the other who sighed. “I’m just feeling stagnant, I guess.  I don’t know.  I’m in my head.”

“Ironic.”

Hitoshi laughed and then hissed as Bakugo continued to clean his forehead.  “I just can’t help but feel so far behind.  Especially with the – uh –  the other alphas around.  I’m trying my best but it’s like my alpha doesn’t feel good enough.  I don’t feel good enough.”

Bakugo rolled his eyes.  He wanted to stay quiet and just let the other boy vent, but his omega was gnawing at him to comfort his friend.  “Stop comparing yourself to others, dumbass.  You’re different than everyone in this class.  You stand out.  We all had a head start and you had to play catch up.  But you’re – you’re getting good.  You are good.  One of the strongest alphas in this stupid class.”

“You’re just saying th-“

“Why the fuck would I just say anything?  I don’t have anything to lie about, stupid.”

Hitoshi smiled and closed his eyes as Bakugo began applying a band aid.  “I just don’t feel worthy of the pack sometimes.” Hitoshi whispered.

Bakugo hesitated before speaking. “You’re not the only one.”

“Pft, shut up.” Hitoshi looked away.  “You’re fucking amazing, Bakugo.  You already know that.”

“I’m –“ his eyebrows knitted together as he tried to find the words.  “Fine.  I know I’m strong and great, whatever.  But I know - I know I’m an asshole.  I’m not a people person.  It takes everything in me not to lose my shit all hours of the day.  And yet, Deku still - You all still -  God, you know what I’m trying to say.”

Hitoshi nodded as Bakugo tried to continue.  “So yea, I’m powerful and I can fight and save lives, but that’s not what I’m supposed to be. I’m an omega, no matter how much I hate it.  I need to protect and be nurturing.  Care for my pack or whatever.  I’m fucking trying.  But I get it, sometimes it just doesn’t feel like enough for my omega or for me. So yeah, you’re not the only one.”

“Bakugo, I – “

“But you’re a good alpha, Ambien.  Don’t get used to this shit, this is the last compliment you’re getting from me for awhile.” Bakugo closed the first aid kit.  “And if you really need to talk to someone about, you know, feeling behind, ask Deku.  He had a late start to, ya know.  He might be able to like, give emotional advice or whatever.  He’s good at that shit, much better than I am.”

Hitoshi contemplated pressing the issue of Katsuki’s feelings but decided to let it go for now.  Bakugo scooted back, readying himself to get up.

“Bakugo, can I see your wrist real quick?”

“Huh?” Hitoshi grabbed at the omega’s arm and lifted it towards his neck, scenting lightly.

“I appreciate it, thanks for the pep talk.  I didn’t know you could be such a good friend.”

“You’re pushing it, shithead.” Bakugo rolled his eyes and continued to sit there until Shinso let his hand drop.  “Get back out there, don’t over do it.  Doesn’t look like you’ll need to see Recovery Girl for stitches or anything.”

“Yes, mother!”

“Don’t call me that!”

Bakugo sat in his empty classroom, copying his notes into a separate notebook to take to Todoroki later.  Most of the class had taken off towards the dorms after training, but he decided to stay and take advantage of a quiet area.  “I should probably check on Shitty Hair and stupid Icy Hot,” he mumbled to himself.

“I was just there, they’re doing fine.” Bakugo looked up to see his teacher leaning against the doorframe.  “Noticed you weren’t there and came back to check on you.”

“’m fine.” Katsuki mumbled, starting to gather his stuff.  “You didn’t have to come back.”

“I wanted to talk.” Bakugo glared at his teacher.  “Let’s go back to the dorms, humor me.”

They walked back to the dorms in mostly silence.  It wasn’t until the crossed past the gates before Aizawa began to speak.  “I heard you in the locker room earlier.”

“Tsk.  It’s not like you to eavesdrop.”

“I was planning on checking on Hitoshi.  I know he’s been struggling lately.  He looked better after class.”

“Good.”

Aizawa sighed before continuing.  “I’m the only omega in my pack.  Granted, we’re about 1/3 of your size.  But unless Eri presents as an omega as well, it’s just me.   I'm automatically the prime. It’s hard.  The drive to feel the need to cater to everyone, it is overwhelming at times.  I can only imagine how difficult it can be for you.”

“I suck as an omega, I fucking get it.”

“No, quite the opposite.  You’re an amazing omega.  I know you feel like your personality doesn’t match the gender, but we’re in modern times, Bakugo.  You don’t have to be a dainty housewife with a million dollar smile to be a good omega.  You take care of your pack, I’ve seen it countless of times. You may be brash, but you’re just what these knuckleheads needs.  You’re fine just the way you are.  Take that from an omega who knows what it’s like to have to save strangers lives for a living and go home and make sure my pack is fine too.  I understand.”

Bakugo walked in silence for awhile, turning over the praise in his head.  “Will I be able to do them both?”

“Absolutely.  But you can’t take care of anyone or save anyone if you continue to overwhelm yourself with worry.  Have trust in your instincts and your pack.  Trust they have made the right choice to stick with you. It’ll take more than my words to get to this point, but you’ll get to the point where you’ll be my age, giving some hardheaded omega the exact same speech.  Who knows, It might even be your own pup?”

Bakugo blushed at the thought of him having a pup – “Shut up!”

Aizawa looked away, hiding a chuckle.  “Make sure Todoroki is okay,” the older man ruffled his hair.  “Let me know if you need anything.  Advice or whatever.” Katsuki waited until his teacher turned around and walked away before letting himself smirk softly.

Katsuki walked into the dorms, his brain already churning.  If he goes and checks on Todoroki, gives him a run down on what he missed, kicks Kirishima out, and makes sure his packmates eat a proper dinner before their all day training regimen tomorrow, he can probably shower and get at least a 20 minute cuddle session in with his dumbass boyfriend before having to go to sl-

“Kacchan! You’re back!” Deku’s head peaked from the doorway leading into the kitchen.

“Yea, was copying my notes for that dumbass, Todoroki.  I’m just gonna take them up to his useless ass and I’ll be back down to start din-“

“Actually, can you come in here for a second first?  It’ll only take a minute.”

Katsuki’s eyebrows knitted together as he walked towards his boyfriend.  This better not be something dum-

Bakugo’s eyes widened as he walked into the kitchen.  Hitoshi and Kaminari were at the stove, plating bowls of what smelled like spicy curry.  Todoroki and Kirishima were taking said plates to their packmates who were already sitting down at the table in the joint dining room.

Deku smiled, pulling at Katsuki’s hand.  “You’ve been running yourself into the ground today, everyone wanted to do something nice for you.”

Katsuki felt his face heat up as his boyfriend pulled him closer to the table where everyone greeted him.  Deku sat him next to Todoroki who smiled.

“Kirishima asked to court me today,” the other omega whispered.  “I also feel much better. Thank you, Bakugo.”

“Yea, yea.” Bakugo said, looking away. “Congrats, I guess. Someone other than me has to take care of you, idiot.”

“You’re good at that, Bakugo!” Katsuki looked up to see Hitoshi and Mina smiling at him from across the table.  “Thanks for always taking care of us.”

The blonde let his shoulders relax.  “Stop being so fucking sappy.  Of course I’ll take care of you fuckers.  Now let’s eat.  I’m not touching a fucking dish tonight by the way!  If this is some sort of thanks, I ain’t putting in any work!”

Deku laughed, sitting next to his boyfriend and placing a bowl in front of him.  “Don’t worry about it, Kacchan.  We got it.”

Being prime omega wasn't so bad.
