There Sun, sun
Only when I see you
even the uncertain future
becomes a little closer

One year has passed since Mafuyu finally broke out of the glass cage that had locked her up, and she has started to see her true self when she stood in front of the mirror. When she stepped out of the cage, onto the scattered pieces of glass with her bare feet, stained with blood, she was able to see Kanade standing in front of her, holding out her hand. She could not figure out whether it was a helping hand to save her, or a hand that will lead her to another despair. But Mafuyu could not shake off the offer.

When Kanade opened her eyes to the sunlight seeping through the window, she lifted her numb arm to organize her messy hair. She remembers - she has cut her hair recently, but it was already covering her whole back. Still half-asleep, while she was holding her silver hair with one of her hands and staring at the wall in front of her, she was caught in someone else's arm that suddenly popped out and put her back on the bed.
"! Ugh..."
"... Stay a little longer."
When Kanade saw the purple eyes shining more than usual under the morning sun, hidden under the messy purple hair, she gave out a slight smile, and fell back to sleep again. When Kanade woke up and opened her eyes, the sun was hanging on top of the sky - it was already lunchtime. Mafuyu was still asleep, hiding herself under cover, and Kanade was only able to see unkempt purple hair poking out of the cover. When they decided to live together, they both expected that it would not be easy for the two who have lived such different lives to adjust to one another's lifestyle. Yet, even after a year, they were living peacefully together… on an unorganized daily schedule. Kanade laughed a little louder than before at the sight of them living as they wanted not being restrained by others. By all means, it was happiness, blessings, and salvation given to the two for the rest of their lives together.
Kanade still remembered the day - well, she could not forget it. She could not forget when Mafuyu finally broke out of the glass cage where Mafuyu had locked herself up, only displaying the beautifully decorated self to others. That day Mafuyu believed her, cut off the threads that had been tied to her, while holding the hands that Kanade used to drag her out, and saved her.
Mafuyu also could not forget that day; when Kanade, who could not save herself as she reached out for others, finally reached out for herself. She could not forget the day when Kanade, who could not move forward with the thought of having to save others, finally saved herself and managed to move on for herself, for her future.

Kanade remembered the last sentence of a picture book she once read. 'So, they lived happily ever after together.' Are Kanade and Mafuyu happy now? Well, she did not care anymore. Knowing that they can be together no matter if they are happy or not, she was fine.
Mafuyu was happy now. It was not the happiness that she created, but the true "happiness" that she felt for the first time in her life, happiness from the bottom of her heart. Well, in fact, even Mafuyu could not define what 'happiness' was; however, she thought if the emotion she is feeling right now is 'happiness,' she wishes to keep it for the rest of her life. She deeply wished to keep the emotions she is sharing with Kanade.
What would their future be like together? If it is darkness, they will become each other's light, while if it is light, they could become darkness to one another. Although they were facing an uncertain future, they would not let go of their hands they were holding. Walking together will lead them to the finale of their lives. They will walk together towards the cold and splendid finale where the music leads the, and yes, they are not going back.
