With you forever

Summary:

What would you do if you got stuck in a closet at school with your Ex?

Yoongi had never thought about that, but maybe it's the right place to talk about all the things left unsaid when neither of him nor Hoseok can just leave. Maybe it's the right time for Closure or for a new start.

Work Text:

When the teacher suddenly told Yoongi to get some books for the class from a closet, Yoongi regretted ever taking this class. You see, usually he'd be fine with getting materials, he could leave the classroom for a few minutes and didn't have to focus on whatever the teacher was writing on the board.

Getting Class Material with Jung Hoseok though, was an entirely different story. Yoongi hated how his heart still started beating faster when he was just thinking about the other boy. Not long ago he would've been more than happy with that task, always seeking to spend time with the younger boy.

But that had been before Hoseok had suddenly broken up with him and left Yoongi hurt and alone. He still didn't know what he did wrong or why Hoseok suddenly ended their Relationship and whenever the two were close to each other now, there was always an awkward atmosphere.

That's what Yoongi hated most. They used to be so comfortable around each other and now there was so much awkward tension and so many things left unsaid. Yoongi didn't like confrontation, so he mostly just avoided Hoseok now to make sure the other wouldn't talk to him, which would probably result in him either starting to cry or asking Hoseok why he left him.

Yoongi just wanted to know why Hoseok suddenly didn't want to be with him anymorem but at the same time he was also extremely anxious to hear the answer. He also didn't want to hear anything like "It's not you, it's me", because that still wouldn't help him understand Hoseok's abrupt decision.

So now the two boys were on their way to the closet on the third floor where old books and other study materials were stored. There was a distance between them and Yoongi felt nervous. The hallway was quiet, sometimes when passing classrooms they could hear someone talking from inside and where a window was open screams and laughter could be heard from the football field.

But between the two of them it was quiet. Yoongi didn't even like playing football, but he suddenly wished to be outside on the field with other kids. Anything to get away from Hoseok quickly. He just couldn't bear the uncomfortable atmosphere any longer.

Just when he was about to speak up to break the silence, Hoseok stopped in front of a door. Yoongi recognized it as the door to the closet and just then realized that he'd been so deep in thoughts that he didn't even really notice that they'd already walked up the stairs.

Yoongi, who had the keys, unlocked the door and entered first. He heard some rustling with the keys, so he assumed Hoseok took them. The door fell shut behind them and Yoongi tried to get used to the dim light in the Closet.

There was only a small window that barely let in any light. Dust was all over the messy shelves and Yoongi coughed once. He tried to find the books in the chaos, but with the darkness added to it, it was nearly impossible.

Hoseok scoffed after watching him search for a few minutes and took his phone out. The Flashlight lit the room and Yoongi squeezed his eyes shut when Hoseok pointed it right at his face. "Using a Flashlight is so much easier, what are you doing?", he questioned Yoongi's attempts at searching through the books.

Yoongi frowned and retorted:"Not all of us have their phones on them all the time. Mine's in my bag." The younger boy ignored him and in silence they started looking through all the stuff on the shelves.

Finally Yoongi spotted some books and exclaimed:"Found them!" Hoseok just dryly commented:"Then let's finally get out of here and go back to class." Yoongi tried carrying all the books, but there were about 15 and they were too heavy. He didn't want to ask Hoseok for help, but in the end he still had to. After all that's why the teacher sent two students in the first place.

Hoseok stared at Yoongi while the latter waited for him to open the door. Hoseok looked at him weirdly and asked:"Why are you just standing there? Move already." Yoongi hated how cold Hoseok sounded and wished he could do the same, but it was hard to hide his hurt at the harsh remarks when he replied:"You have the keys, you have to open the door."

"I don't have the keys, I left them in the lock."

Yoongi paled. He knew the door had been defect for a few weeks now and only opened with a key once it closed. "What do you mean we need the keys to open it?", Hoseok pressed and Yoongi explained:"The door's been broken for a while now and the Johnitor hasn't repaired it yet."

Hoseok groaned at the mention of their Janitor. John, or Johnitor how all students called him, always took months to fix anything. Yoongi wasn't sure how he managed to keep his job, because even when there were so many things to fix at the school, John spent most of his time smoking in front of the building.

He was pulled out of his thoughts by Hoseok hissing angrily:"If you knew we needed the key, why didn't you take it directly?" Yoongi rolled his eyes and felt himself getting defensive. "I was planning to, but i heard you rustling with the key and thought you took it. How was i supposed to know you weren't aware of the defect door?"

"Dude, you could've just asked me if I had the key, then we wouldn't be stuck here. You're not that dumb, you could've used your brain." Yoongi pouted and turned around. He didn't like this mean version of Hoseok at all. He wished he could turn back time and have his sweet boyfriend back who still loved him.

Yoongi sat down in a corner and stared at the ground, conteplating why he had such bad luck. After a while Hoseok sat down as well and started doing something on his phone. They didn't speak another word, it was completely silent between them. It wasn't a comfortable silence though.

Finally Yoongi got bored and quietly asked:"Why is it like this whenever we see each other now? How did it get so uncomfortable for us to spend time together?" Hoseok sighed and already seemed annoyed. "Well, it's usually like that with your Ex."

Yoongi figured when they were already locked in together he could use this chance to ask Hoseok why he broke up with him. At least here Hoseok couldn't just leave and if Yoongi started crying Hoseok wouldn't be able to see it in the darkness.

"You never really told me why you ended our relationship though. I don't know why, I thought everything was going well and suddenly you broke up with me. I've been second guessing what i did wrong and not having any closure hurt me a lot.", Yoongi tried to put his feelings into words.

Hoseok was quiet for a few seconds and Yoongi already wondered if he was ignoring him, when Hoseok replied:"You didn't do anything wrong. It's just that we'll graduate soon and once we go to College we might not see each other as much anymore. So I thought ending it now would hurt less than if we'd do it in a few months."

Yoongi frowned. "Why did you make such a big decision without ever talking to me about your worries? I'm sure we could've found a solution, if nothing else was possible then we'd have to decide if we wanted a long distance relationship or not, but you just suddenly breaking up just really hurt me. Didn't you feel like you could talk to me?"

The younger boy finally looked up from his phone and locked eyes with Yoongi. For the first time in weeks he didn't look angry or annoyed. As far as Yoongi could  tell in the dim light coming from the phone screen, he looked rather apologetic.

"I'm sorry for not talking to you beforehand, Yoon. I guess I just felt overwhelmed while applying to all these Colleges and I didn't take the time to consider how you would feel. I'm sorry that I didn't think about the possibility of you blaming yourself for the break up and I know I should've talked to you. I realized that as well, but then i felt too ashamed to approach you and talk to you. I'm really really sorry."

Yoongi hesistated. He really wanted to forgive Hoseok, after all he still loved him, but he wasn't sure if he could do so quickly. He was hurting a lot these past few weeks, always doubting himself and maybe he wasn't ready to forgive Hoseok for causing this pain yet.

Hoseok understood him without words. He always did. "It's fine if you don't say anything right away. I'd like to fix us, I want to talk to you normally again and I hope we'll be able to at least become friends again."

There was a last question on Yoongi's mind he still needed an answer to. "Why were you so mean to me after our break-up?" Hoseok looked embarrassed and admitted:"Mostly because i felt lost without you by my side and i know that sounds dumb because I was the one to end the relationship, but I think I just let out all my fruststrations on myself on you. I'm sorry for that as well, you were already hurting and I just made it worse."

Yoongi knew he couldn't give an answer to the Question of repairing their friendship as much as possible, he still had to consider if he could forgive Hoseok for how he treated him and he'd have to gain trust in the younger boy again. Because of his own insecurities it was sometimes hard for Yoongi to forgive people in fear they'd use him and then leave him hurting once again.

He figured if he even wanted to consider a new start with Hoseok, he'd have to be honest. So he told Hoseok exactly what he was thinking, his worries and why he'd have to consider everything to give Hoseok a final answer. Of course Hoseok was fine with that, he knew Yoongi well after all and he knew that was usually his way of handling most things. Sitting alone in his room, considering all the outcomes and what he really wanted and then givingan answer.

That's just how Yoongi had always been.

Luckily they heard the key turning in the lock and then sunlight was streaming into the closet. Their friend Seokjin was standing in the door, raising an eyebrow when he saw the two boys sitting on the floor in opposite corners, but he didn't say anything. He knew about their situation well enough to let them handle it on their own.

After the Apology, Yoongi spent a few afternoons cooped up in his room and couldn't stop thinking about Hoseok's words. He really wanted to have the old Hoseok back, the one who always managed to make him happy, who always protected and loved him, no matter what.

And maybe at the end of the week he still wasn't exactly sure where he wanted to go with the new relationship, if he wanted to stay friends only or try at dating again after a while, but he knew he could forgive Hoseok.

The latter's apology had seemed honest and Yoongi didn't want to miss Hoseok in his life. Maybe he'd gotten so used to him, that he can't imagine his life without the sun in form of Hoseok in it.

In the end it took a while, Hoseok worked hard to gain Yoongi's trust back, they often met up as friends and over time they got closer again. Yoongi had fully forgiven Hoseok by now and his worries about being dumped again were pretty much completely gone.

So when Hoseok asked him on a real Date after a few months, of course he agreed. And perhaps this new start of their Relationship made everything even better than before. They shared more about their worries now and made sure to always be on the same page in order to avoid misunderstandings.

They even got into the same College and decided to move in together in a small apartment not far from their College. Yoongi was more than happy that he'd let Hoseok into his heart again, why knew where he'd be if he'd let the insecurities take over back then. In the end everything fell into place and neither of them had ever been happier than when they fell asleep next to each other in their new apartment for the first time and Hoseok whispered:"This is all ours, Yoon. I never want you to leave my side, I love you so much." and Yoongi quietly replied:"I love you too, Hobi-ah."

Notes:

I hope you liked my first week for the Sope Bingo :)
For my Bingo these are the Prompts "Stuck together" and "Getting back together"

Also the Janitor being called Johnitor is based on my work, bc everyone there calls the Janitor "Klausmeister" (Klaus=his name) + Hausmeister (=Janitor in German). And he also doesn't do shit, when the toilets flooded the whole floor he just stood outside and smoked and didn't do anything for 2 hours
