Work Text:

Goddammit .”

Chuuya burned the first side of the pancake he was currently working on.

Again.

But Fyodor isn’t so worried about that right now, no .

And what really has his attention wasn’t the fact that the redhead was trying to cook when he’s notorious for being the shittier cook between the two.

It was the fact that he was doing this while wearing nothing but Fyodor’s shirt (or at least the illusion it’s giving off, the shirt is so big on him that it covers any potential underwear or shorts that could be hiding underneath.)

And for his sanity, as well as Chuuya’s, Fyodor hopes there’s something underneath.

But any and all thoughts of ravishing the redhead that morning quickly disperse as he watches the sheer determination on his lover’s face as he tries for yet another attempt at salvaging breakfast.

Today was Christmas Eve and while they had nothing special planned, settling to just stay in for the day, Chuuya still had the sentiment to get up and do something.

(he’s always been like that during the course of their relationship, going out f his way, it never failed to endear the raven head)

And if that wasn’t enough to get his heart moving, Fyodor was even more entranced by the cute surprised yelp he lets out once strong arms wrap around thin waist. “God, you scared me. How long have you been standing there?”

He yawns. “About 20 minutes.”

Great .

Which means he’s probably been eyeing him in his deficiencies for a while now.

As if he could sense the oncoming danger, Fyodor quickly pulls him into a gentle kiss that leaves Chuuya nothing short of practically melting . “Good morning, love.”

He smiles, completely relaxing into it. “Good morning.”

“You’re cooking?”

They both eye the liquid on the pan that resembles more like milk rather than a pancake right now with concern. “There was an attempt.”

“More like a few .”

He lets out a frustrated groan. “You ass , you could have helped me you know!”

“Are you sure? I don’t think your pride would have allowed for that darling.”

He’s right, but Chuuya is not admitting to that.

“We’re ordering out for breakfast.” The redhead declares just as he turns off the stove and moves to start cleaning up.

“We are?”

“And you’re paying.”

Fyodor dejects just a little but moves to help clean up all the same. “ Right .”

Chuuya steals a quick kiss, making sure to stand on the tips of his toes just because he knows the raven head goes absolutely crazy for it. “Thanks love.”

The food eventually arrives, a large breakfast from one of Chuuya’s favorite cafes in Yokohama, and they eat in bliss and that’s pretty much how the rest of the day goes.

Honestly, the most strenuous thing they did that day was a karaoke competition to see who could make even the catchiest Christmas song a strain for the ears.

It didn’t start out that way, however. Fyodor was actually genuinely trying his best at first and the other just misinterpreted. Feelings may have been hurt but hey, mistakes happen.

Now it was the beginning of their night and they were curled up under the fuzziest, red blanket Chuuya could find in his penthouse, watching a cliche Hallmark Christmas movie, per Fyodor’s request. The pair each had their own cup of hot chocolate as well (Chuuya’s cup had a shot of alcohol but Fyodor knows better than to question or stop it at this point.)

It was a perfect way to spend the remaining hours until Christmas day.

Except that it was obvious Fyodor was distracted by something and Chuuya was getting fed up by it.

Fedya .” The redhead not-so-gently nudges him with his foot, quickly snapping the other to attention. “What are you doing?”

He's quick to grab the other’s hand to give it a quick kiss, seemingly effortless. “Watching the movie, what else would I be doing dear?”

“Then tell me what’s going on.” He crosses his arms. “And don’t give me that generic career woman who’s too busy meets the man that teaches her the true meaning of Christmas bullshit.”

Fyodor stares blankly. “Isn’t that the plot for every one of these movies?”

Babe ,” he sighs. “What are you thinking about?”

He pauses the film, turning all the attention onto his partner. “Well, I know we agreed on no presents this year but…”

And they did. They didn’t want to make it a big deal, and on top of their work with their respective organizations, it just seemed like an extra inconsequential thing to have to worry about.

But it seems Fyodor had his own plans as he takes out a small box, wrapped in black and held together by a red ribbon. “I got you this.”

It was simple but elegant, and undoubtedly stunning. Chuuya didn’t know what his lover had in mind but he was already getting excited.

“That’s fine.” Chuuya looks almost sheepish as he takes out his own box from its hiding spot from under the covers, a smaller ring sized box that was black with a small silver ribbon on top. “I actually kind of had the same idea.”

They each held their respective gifts out to each other but Fyodor insists that Chuuya open his first. “You know, I’m a little worried it’s going to be way better than mines-”

He lifts the top of the black velvet box slowly at first and-

Yep.

He doesn’t think he can compete with this .

Inside was a radiant three-layered choker with an arrangement of diamonds dangling at its center. It was exactly what Chuuya would have picked out for himself, and not to mention it was breathtakingly beautiful.

“I love it.” He was beaming at it. “I really love it.”

Fyodor nods, seemingly pleased with himself at his approval as he moves to open his own gift. “ Wait .”

The raven head ceases all movement at that. “Don’t open it, give it back to me.”

Chuuya reaches out his hand but the other doesn’t move. “How come?”

“It’s not as good, ” Chuuya admits a bit hesitantly. “I’ll get you something better so just, hand it over.”

“No.”

Chuuya looks baffled by his refusal but he quickly shakes it off. “Excuse me?”

No .” He repeats defiantly, not wavering what-so-ever. “I want to see it.”

He resumes trying to open the box but Chuuya is quick to put a stop to it. “H-hey!”

One thing leads to another, and after a bit of tussling and blanket tossing, they end up with Chuuya firmly straddling Fyodor’s lap, the two crimson and out of breath. They each had a solid hold on the gift, neither of them looking to back down any time soon. “Give it up.”

Chuuya .” He sounds serious but there’s a gentleness to his words, “Why don’t you want me to see what’s inside love?”

Chuuya looks reluctant but he caves . “ Fine, you can have it. I was planning to give it to you anyways but I’m still getting you something even better okay? No buts.”

He nods his head, the action being enough to make the redhead releasing his death grip on the box completely.

Inside was a key.

A house key.

“Is this?”

Look .” He’s red but he never breaks eye contact. “I just thought that since you’re here so often that.. It wouldn’t be so bad if you were around a lot more.”

Any nerves the redhead was feeling after that confession are gone in an instant once the other starts rubbing light circles on his hips. “I’d love that.”

Chuuya looks over the moon right then. “Really?”

“I would .”

“Then you are forgiven.”

Fyodor is thoroughly confused . “What for darling?”

“You basically got me a collar , you think I’m some kind of dog?!” While these words might be lethal coming from an executive of the Port Mafia to anyone else, his tone held no bite. “I’m kidding. But seriously, thank you. It’s beautiful.”

No, you’re beautiful.

Is what he’d like to reply but he’s cut off by Chuuya pulling him in. The kiss was lingering, soft, and gentle and so Fyodor decided to convey everything he wanted to say through it.

Thank you.

Please stay with me.

I love you.

They pull apart, foreheads resting against each other and there’s so much affection to be found in both of their expressions.

“Merry Christmas, Chuuya.”
