A Crime of Fashion

Summary:

Taehyung and Jimin’s best friends, Seokjin and Hoseok, are getting married. This matrimonious event produces conflicting feelings in Taehyung. On one hand, all the love in the air means he can’t stop pining and daydreaming about marrying his boyfriend, Jimin.

On the other hand, Taehyung and Jimin are in the wedding party and the grooms’ fashion sense is, at best, questionable— and Taehyung is afraid that his outfit is so awful, he may be arrested just for wearing it.

Notes:

please note that there is a lot of focus on some of bts’... unconventional... outfits in this fic, but i as a person myself am in no way using this as a means of communicating my own judgement on their looks or their stylists! honestly i think they look fantastic in all the outfits they wear, but to be fair, i don’t think anyone else besides bts could ever pull some of them off i mean let’s be honest!! they could make anything look like a million bucks!!!!! but, i picked some of my favorite wacky fits of theirs, if you want visual references you can find them here!

disclaimer: this contains a brief mention of alcohol, suggestive jokes, and fictional portrayals of members of bts.

Work Text:

“This is, objectively, the worst outfit I’ve ever seen in my life.”

“I know,” Jimin says, clapping his hand onto Taehyung’s shoulder with understanding. “Now put it on.”

Taehyung shoots Jimin the most dramatic expression he can possibly muster in a silent cry for help, but it’s only met with his boyfriend’s laughter. His lips screw up into a pout as he stares at the sunflower-patterned shirt hanging on the closet door, and he starts to pull the plastic dry cleaning bag off its hanger.

“You should be thanking me, to be honest,” Jimin announces from the bathroom of their hotel room. Taehyung looks up in time to see Jimin’s head pop out from around the doorway, toothbrush hanging between his lips as he points at him with determination. “I got you the best outfit, by far. I don’t wanna hear it, Mr. Unusually-Specific-Pants-Measurements.”

Deep down, Taehyung knows that Jimin is right. He’s done the best he can— these are just the tragic, tragic cards they have been dealt. It’s still somewhat of a mystery why the unofficial duty of stylist befell upon Jimin of all people; but despite that, Jimin has tried his hardest to wield that power benevolently.

Taehyung loves Seokjin and Hoseok to death. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it— he would confidently do anything for his best friends. However, in spite of that, the outfit in front of Taehyung makes him question that loyalty for the very first time.

The worst part is that it doesn’t even come as a surprise. It’s Seokjin and Hoseok who are getting married after all, which means that Seokjin and Hoseok got to design an entire event using their own personal fashion sense as a guide. Everything from the color scheme to the venue, from the music to even the napkins, was curated with Seokjin and Hoseok’s exact aesthetic preferences in mind. Their influence was especially apparent in the wedding party’s outfits.

“Are you sure I can’t spill something on it by accident?” Taehyung grumbles as he returns to his suitcase and starts digging through it for a pair of underwear. Jimin gasps scandalously in the bathroom, and there’s the rushed sound of him finishing brushing his teeth before he replies.

“Absolutely not! They may be ugly, but they’re expensive!”

A resolute sigh leaves Taehyung’s lips as he sits on the edge of his and Jimin’s hotel bed to begin unbuttoning his pajama shirt. He knows Jimin knows that he’s joking, because he is joking, but… he isn’t sure whether or not he actually wants to be joking.

Jimin, fresh and clean from the shower, comes out of the bathroom in his glasses and a hot pink robe that has ‘Right Hand Bitch’ bejeweled across the back. He’s not the maid of honor (in fact, he’s not even the best man— at least as far as they know) but he has worn the robe with unironic pride ever since Taehyung brought it back as a gag gift from the wedding supply store. Whenever he’s asked about it, Jimin just says that it’s silky and comfortable, but Taehyung is pretty sure that he wears it because it makes him feel like a, quote, 'boss bitch’.

“You look pretty, Jimin-ah.” Taehyung hums as he watches Jimin click on the television. They don’t normally watch television in the morning, but whenever they stay at a hotel, they always have the weird instinct to keep it on in the background.

The right-hand bitch blinks before flashing a smile at his boyfriend, and coming up to kiss his cheek as the Forensic Files theme song plays quietly. For a brief second, it makes Taehyung wonder which channel it could possibly be, playing true crime at 5:47am— but then he remembers he’s never been to Ilsan before. Maybe evaluating the local television options would help him better understand Hoseok’s friend, Namjoon.

“So do you,” Jimin chimes as he bends over in front of the mini-fridge complimentary with their hotel room, and Taehyung takes a long opportunity to stare at his ass. After a moment Jimin retrieves a large energy drink and cracks it open, sipping at it and screwing up his nose at the flavor. It makes Taehyung laugh, and he cocks his head to the side.

“Do I? Well, let’s see if your opinion changes once I get dressed.” He muses, shrugging his pajama shirt off of his shoulders. Jimin giggles as he messes with the television channels before ending up back on true crime, and going to his own suitcase. Meanwhile Taehyung stands and slips out of his bottoms before pulling on a pair of underwear. They're ones that Jimin picked out for him because apparently the fit of his pants is somewhat tight, and these were seamless or something like that, and it meant that there wouldn’t be boxer-lines. Apparently.

“You need some help with that?” Jimin teases as he watches Taehyung make a parade of odd faces while he gets comfortable in them. Finally he is situated and he scoffs, arching up a brow.

“If I didn’t know better I would think you were trying to flirt with me, Jiminie.”

“Good thing you know better then, huh?”

“Ooh… ouch.” Taehyung clutches his heart dramatically, and Jimin rolls on their bed in laughter. Somewhere in the back of his mind, Taehyung questions why exactly Jimin made him get up so early if he is always the one that takes less time to get ready, and Jimin was going to lounge. But he holds his tongue, and figures that maybe it's because Jimin is nervous, and doesn't want to be anxiously fretting alone. Or maybe they're just waiting for Jimin's caffeine to hit.

And oh boy, does it hit.

About an hour later, Taehyung finds himself standing behind Jimin in front of the bathroom mirror, doing his best to use the flat iron on the back of his hair. His own was half-done, held back in clips and pins that apparently were preserving his hairstyle until showtime. Jimin however got too frustrated with his own hair, and Taehyung was called in for reinforcements.

“Okay, okay— it’s flat now, I promise.” Taehyung says, very carefully setting down the iron. He watches Jimin turn side to side, trying to see it in the mirror, before his hand reaches up to touch it and Taehyung promptly bats it away.

“Hey!”

“Yah, it keeps sticking up again because you’re touching it!” Taehyung points out, and Jimin just grumbles something. His shoulders are tense, and the way that he’s been letting out little exasperated breaths has not been lost on Taehyung. Once he uses a clip to pin down the pack of Jimin’s hair, (he’s not sure if he actually needs to do that, but it makes him feel like a professional) Taehyung slides his arms around Jimin’s waist and leans in until his chin can rest on his pink silk-covered shoulder.

“Hey, baby, is something wrong?” He whispers quietly, and watches Jimin let out another huff in the mirror. He shakes his head at first, before stopping, and Taehyung can’t quite tell what motion he was trying to make. Squeezing him gently in his arms, Taehyung presses a kiss to Jimin’s temple before continuing. “Just take deep breaths, yeah? In, and out… In, and out…”

Jimin inhales and exhales as Taehyung guides him to, and in a show of solidarity, Taehyung does it too. His chest presses up against Jimin’s back with each breath, and he can feel Jimin breathing deeply in his arms. After a few moments, Taehyung kisses his cheek, and smooths his hands up and down his sides. “Are you just anxious about it?”

A brief nod from Jimin is all it takes for Taehyung to lean around on the other side and kiss his opposite cheek. He starts to dig his fingertips into Jimin’s sides as he does so, tickling him and making him squirm. His laughter is quiet, but any type of Jimin’s laughter is Taehyung’s favorite song.

“Yah, I just— I’m trying my best… I really hope that they like everything.” Jimin confesses, and Taehyung relents on his tickle-attack. Nodding in understanding, he reaches up to hold Jimin’s cheeks in either of his hands from behind. They both watch in the mirror as Taehyung squishes his cheeks together and makes Jimin’s lips pucker out like a fish.

“Look, you’re one of the fish at the aquarium. The most talented fishie I've ever seen.” Taehyung giggles.

When Jimin sighs a little forlornly, he lets go quickly and takes Jimin’s hands when he turns around to face Taehyung. “You’re doing an amazing job, Jiminie. I mean it. And you know they’re gonna love it— I mean, look at the venue. An aquarium? The outfits, with all these colors and patterns? Yes, they’re committing a crime of fashion, but they’re having a hell of a time doing it.”

As Taehyung speaks, Jimin starts to giggle more, and the tension leaves his shoulders.

“You’ve done so, so great at picking out all the outfits with them and making sure everyone is set. I mean, look at my hair right now— it’s fantastic, I’ve never looked better.” Taehyung announces, and shushes Jimin when he tries to point out that they haven’t even finished his hair yet. “And I know the venue looks fantastic too. That wasn’t even your task, it was Namjoon-ssi’s, but I don’t blame him for needing some help. I wouldn’t know how to decorate an aquarium for a wedding either. Especially for Seokjin-hyung and Hoseok-hyung, who have… an eclectic taste, to say the least. And that’s me saying it’s eclectic. Me, Jimin.”

Taehyung is saying all the right things, managing to praise any insecurities and anxieties Jimin has before he can falter on them. By now Jimin is laughing in agreement, and his teeth are showing while his eyes vanish thanks to the grin on his face. It makes Taehyung smile too, and he dives in to press a kiss on those happy lips.

“I know I keep complaining about the clothes, and quite frankly, I will— But that’s on them, not you.”

“Hey! Listen, I actually do kind of like the outfit you got…” Jimin admits, and Taehyung raises his brows. It had been an hour since Taehyung started putting it on, but the farthest he got were his underwear and socks thanks to a mixture of procrastination and demand for emergency-hair-styling-backup.

“Really?”

“Look, all I’m saying is that if it is a crime— then you’re the sexiest criminal I’ve ever seen.” Jimin purrs.

“Oh my god, Seokjin-hyung is wearing off on you. You’ve spent too much time with him—” Taehyung gasps, and watching Jimin dissolve into laughter makes him feel like maybe this is all worth it. Maybe Taehyung is ready to abandon the last shred of fashionable dignity he has, if it makes the love of his life laugh like this.

After some grumbling back and forth, they finally leave their bathroom to realize that the sun is rising and they need to be at the aquarium within the next two hours to prepare. Taehyung points out that their hotel is literally across the street, but Jimin insists that they can’t be late to arriving early.

(Even though Taehyung is fairly certain they’re arriving earlier-than-early, to help set up. That Jimin wants them to be there early, to prepare, and arrive early to arriving being early… Or something like that. He knows better than to try to mess with Jimin Time.)

They end up splitting the energy drink before starting to actually get dressed, and Taehyung wolf whistles as Jimin slips out of his Right Hand Bitch robe. The sultry look Jimin tosses his way lets him know that the robe might be off, but the right-hand bitch attitude stays, and Taehyung is kind of really into it.

But they don’t have time for nonsense or tomfoolery. They absolutely cannot be late to arriving early at what they were already sure would be a celebration of nonsense and tomfoolery, with a dash of matrimonial gayness sprinkled on top.

“Hey— Wait, yours is so cute! What the fuck?” Taehyung whines when he sees Jimin pull out his own outfit and tug the jeans off the hanger. He has this jacket that, to be fair does look like it’s from a store for eldery women, but it’s cute. There’s pinks and cream tone colors, maybe even a dash of green, that all comes together in a pretty plaid.

Jimin stops and stares at Taehyung before blinking, and looking back to his own clothes. His pretty brows furrow together before he turns to Taehyung again in confusion. “...What?”

“Your outfit is cute! And you get to wear jeans!”

“They're bell-bottom jeans! And they’re patchwork, Taehyung!” Jimin yells, as if he can’t believe what he’s hearing.

“My pants are bell-bottoms too! And they’re tight! And bright purple!” Taehyung points out, holding up the offending garment and waving it. Jimin rolls his eyes and it leaves Taehyung slack-jawed, only able to click his tongue in disbelief.

“You’re gonna look better than me, this is so unfair… Every day I already have to be staged up by you, Park Jimin, but now I have to do it in this…” Taehyung begins to lament, shaking his head as he tosses his pants back on the bed. Jimin laughs from besides the closet, where he’s pulling on his undershirt.

“Are you kidding me? You’re going to look like a 70’s daydream, I don’t wanna hear it, Kim Taehyung.” He rebukes, but makes no motion to disagree that Taehyung is right about how good he looks. Not like Jimin has never been one to shy away from praise, after all.

“Are you challenging me, huh?” Taehyung taunts as he pulls on his sunflower-print shirt and does the buttons. For a second he falters, trying to decide whether or not to do the top button, but leaves it open after Jimin makes a disappointed noise when he closes it.

Jimin puffs up his chest and rolls back his shoulders as he shakes out his jeans, and his voice deepens slightly in that way it always does when he gets playful. God, does Taehyung love it.

“Maybe I am! Because there’s certainly no way that mine is better than yours.”

“Fine, then let’s see about it once you get it on!” Taehyung points dramatically, and Jimin laughs so hard that for a second Taehyung is worried he fell down. Whether or not he planned to do it, Jimin plays it off by turning it into a maneuver to step into his jeans.

“Okay, deal! Whoever looks better is the loser.” Jimin announces, standing back up and jumping a little to pull his jeans over his ass. For a moment as he watches, Taehyung forgets what they’re talking about. It takes Jimin boasting about how Taehyung’s pants are better than his to remind him.

Hurriedly, Taehyung finishes righting his shirt and starts to pull on his pants. As much as he adores Gucci, he never thought that he would find himself in this situation. The pants are, just as he remembered, tight— not necessarily painfully so, but self-consciously so. It takes longer for him to arrange everything comfortably than it did with the underwear, but Jimin was right. Not a boxer line in sight.

“Ah, baby, can you help me?” Jimin asks after a few moments, and Taehyung figures out how to do the inside button on his pants just in time to be useful. The way the bottoms of his bell-bottoms move around his ankles when he dashes over is a unique feeling to say the least, and one he can’t tell if he likes or not. Regardless, he helps Jimin with the clasp on his necklace, and presses a kiss over the nape of his neck for good measure.

When Jimin turns back around, he looks Taehyung over and his eyes go wide. Following his line of sight, he can tell Jimin is staring at his crotch, and he sighs as he turns to the tall mirror on the wall. “Is it really that noticeable, how tight it is…?”

“Well— No! Just… Be mindful, I suppose…” Jimin starts, and it makes Taehyung laugh, but he isn’t sure exactly what that is meant to mean in the first place. He reaches out and tugs on Jimin’s wrist, pulling him into view of the reflection too.

They stand there and look at each other, adjusting things on one another’s outfits as needed. Jimin fixes the collar of Taehyung’s shirt, and Taehyung helps tuck in Jimin’s undershirt at the back of his waistband. Soon, they run out of things to fix, and end up staring at each other in person rather than the mirror. There’s a beat of silence, before they both speak at once.

“—Your pants are so sexy, dear lord they’re tight—”

“—That jacket is so pretty and cute on you, it makes your eyes sparkle—”

“—Oh—"

“—Oh.”

Laughter shakes Taehyung’s shoulders and Jimin hides his pink face behind his hands, giggles and chuckles abound. Taehyung ends up reaching out and hugging him while Jimin snickers into his shoulder. He really can’t place what exactly it is— it’s like something is in the air. Love, nervousness, anticipation— Taehyung doesn’t know. But he knows that Jimin can sense it too, and maybe it’s the spirit of matrimony that has them both so shy and flirtatious this morning, despite dating and living together for nearly seven years.

From shy glances while they get changed to puppy-love stares through the bathroom mirror while they do their makeup, Taehyung and Jimin spend the entire morning in a warm, excited bubble. Taehyung figures that it probably is the fact that they both have the wedding on the forefront of their minds, and inwardly, he hopes that he isn’t the only one who has been having dreams of their own someday-wedding throughout this whole experience. Though he can’t shake the worry that he is the only one, especially because they haven’t discussed getting married before beyond agreement when they first met that someday they would like to.

It’s as Jimin is listing off his checklist of things to bring and Taehyung is triple-checking all their bags before they leave that he really can’t keep the thought back any longer. It’s as he’s carrying all of those bags down to the hotel lobby and watching Jimin fix his hair in the mirrored walls of the elevator, that he can’t help but picture him in a wedding tuxedo of his own. It’s as they finally arrive at the aquarium, and Taehyung sees the rows of chairs and rope-lined aisle for the grooms to walk down, that he can’t help but picture what his and Jimin's own ceremony may be like.

It’s as Taehyung watches Jimin take the bouquet from the florist dropping it off, that his heart clenches and he can’t keep it to himself anymore.

“Hey, Jimin-ah.” Taehyung calls softly from the entryway, where he’s been arranging the guestbook and laying out the programs that proudly displayed Seokjin and Hoseok’s names. He can see his boyfriend perk up across the room, and he looks so beautiful beneath the blue lights of the fish tank overhead.

Honestly, the venue looks gorgeous. Taehyung had his doubts at first when Hoseok told him they were getting married at an aquarium, all thanks to his marine biologist friend pulling some strings. Taehyung had never been to Ilsan Aquarium either, so he didn’t know what to expect; but without a doubt it is the most beautiful and unique location he had seen. He’s even starting to see the appeal that Seokjin and Hoseok must have seen in kissing beneath a shark tunnel.

“Yeah, Taehyungie? Is something the matter?” Jimin asks as he bounces up, looking across the table and eyeing the seating chart Jiwoo made on a nearby display. The bouquet is in a fancy box tied with a ribbon, but the cover is clear, and Jimin cradles it in his arm for safekeeping.

“Oh, hi,” Taehyung sputters, once again momentarily forgetting what he was going to say. Really, there must be something in the air today, because every time he looks at Jimin, it’s like he forgets everything else going on around them.

“Hi,” Jimin’s giggles capture his attention and Taehyung shifts. He can tell he’s blushing, but he hopes that it’s not too obvious in the cool lighting. “Is something the matter? Did you hear from Hyung?”

“Huh? Oh, no, I just wanted to say that—” Taehyung starts, finally mustering up the courage, only to be cut off by a familiar voice.

“Jimin-ssi! Taehyung-hyung!”

They both turn in time to see none other than Jeongguk come bursting into the ceremony hall, cheeks puffing up as he gasps for breath. Taehyung and Jimin look to each other, before Jimin waves his arm and calls out. Jeongguk promptly runs up, and once Taehyung has an up-close-and-personal look at his pumpkin colored blazer, he starts to believe that Jimin did right by his own sunflower shirt.

“Guys, I can’t find my fucking notes,” Jeongguk pants, placing one hand on his hip as he slumps his other side against the wall. A wave of fondness and disbelief washes over Taehyung, but immediately, both he and Jimin are searching through their own pockets.

“We figured, we both brought back-ups for you,” Jimin mutters, trying to balance the bouquet box. Taehyung ends up reaching out and grabbing it so that Jimin can yank out his own copy of Jeongguk’s best man speech and hand it over. The (probable) best man himself lets out a dramatic sigh of relief as he takes it, flipping through the cards with wide, sparkling eyes as he realizes it’s really all there.

“Woah, really? Thank you guys—" Jeongguk says as he shoves the card into his inner breast pocket, and Taehyung answers the question on his face before he can ask it.

“We made back-ups since we… Don’t actually know who the best man is.”

“Yeah, did Seokjin-hyung ever… Expand on that, Jeongguk-ah? I thought you were gonna ask him again?” Jimin asks, blonde hair falling prettily as his head cocks to the side. It takes deliberate effort for Taehyung not to reach up and brush it out of his face for him.

Jeongguk meanwhile is running his hands through his long hair and working his lower lip between his teeth, pacing side to side as he laughs nervously. “Heh, nope! I mean, I did ask, but— His answer was even less clear than before. I really can’t tell if him saying I would be his best man was a joke or not!” He sighs exasperatedly, and Taehyung can feel his pain.

The three of them had spent a considerable amount of time writing Jeongguk’s speech, and even longer trying to figure out which one of them exactly Seokjin had meant to be his best man. They all know that Yoongi is Hoseok’s best man, but… whenever Seokjin brought up his best man, he always made some kind of joke about it being Jeongguk and it was left on that incredibly vague note.

So, the three of them decided to split up the duties and do their best to tackle them all. Yoongi had been in charge of arranging the music, forming guest lists, sending invitations, and getting all of the wedding supplies to the venue— from there, Namjoon took over with setting the place up. Seokjin and Hoseok’s families helped too, but it left Jimin in charge of outfits and styling, Taehyung in charge of catering, and Jeongguk— who was apparently the best man— in charge of best-manning. And after being saddled with the duty of arranging Seokjin's bachelor party, it was the least Taehyung and Jimin could do to pick up some slack when it came to the wedding.

Maybe the way they divided up tasks (or rather, messily scrambled to just do whatever they could) was unconventional. But it seems like everything about this wedding is unconventional— and it's all worked out so far.

"Don't worry, Jeongguk-ah— You've got this, you know the speech by heart. And if you aren't sure what to do at some point, just… Fall back on your wedding instincts." Taehyung encourages, reaching out to pat Jeongguk's shoulder and stopping him from pacing.

"I've never been to a wedding before, I don't think I have wedding instincts—" Jeongguk points out nervously and Taehyung pales a little bit. Before either of them can say something to make it worse, Jimin tuts and grabs Jeongguk's wrist.

"Aish, your hair— Come on, let me go fix it. Taehyungie, can you take the bouquet to Seokjin-hyung's room-thingy?" Jimin implores, and Taehyung nods and flashes a smile to cover up his disappointment at being interrupted. As he watches Jimin shoo Jeongguk towards the bathroom they've turned into a dressing room and gesture back at Taehyung that he's going to try and calm him down, Taehyung thinks maybe it's for the best. It doesn't seem like the time anyways.

Taehyung's eyes linger on the boutique though, before taking it to one of the two staff rooms that they turned into each groom's private quarters before the wedding.

At first glance, Taehyung has an almost visceral reaction to the baby pink satin suit hanging in Seokjin's room— but the bouquet does match, and looks amazing. Later, when he sees the man himself dressed and holding the flowers, Taehyung's praise of the whole ensemble is truthful. It does look surprisingly good, and not just because Seokjin always looks like a fucking model.

The flowers are the perfect accent when Seokjin walks down the aisle, and Taehyung's chest swells up with pride as he sees the way that he and Hoseok look at each other across the hall. He absolutely does cry while they exchange their vows, but luckily so does Hoseok, and they both tease each other about it afterwards while Taehyung dabs at his lashes with Yoongi's handkerchief. The ceremony is beautiful, and the newlyweds look stunning beneath the rippling blue lights of the aquarium.

Once they exchange their rings, it's time for posed photos, and Taehyung is actually having fun. Seeing everyone else in their outfits— especially Namjoon in a green sweater overtop his weird suit and Yoongi's something-skin-jacket zipped halfway up— makes Taehyung relax and not worry too much about his own. He has Jimin as close as can be in every photo the photographer takes of the wedding party all around the aquarium, and helps whisper encouragement to Jeongguk for his approaching speech.

Next comes mingling before the reception, and many, many conversations about how the guests thought the various patterns and colors mish-mashed together would look questionable, but actually look stunning under the light. It's just enough clashing busyness to look balanced and not like a fabric store threw up on an aquarium. Taehyung weasels out of too many of those conversations though by entertaining himself with coloring books at the kid's table while he gossips with toddlers about the decorations.

Finally, the reception comes around, and it's Jeongguk's time to shine. His speech goes off without a hitch, and the part halfway through where he freezes and then admits he's nervous just makes it more endearing and heartfelt. Then, the moment they've all been waiting for comes, and they actually know— Seokjin stands up and praises all of his wedding party, and calls Jeongguk his best man.

The dinner that follows is delicious and Taehyung receives many pats on the back for his excellent taste and skill at organizing the catering. He's having the time of his life, in the horrible outfit that he's grown to love so much— but something tugs at the back of his mind incessantly.

Jimin.

He keeps looking at Jimin the entire evening; which isn't unusual, but Taehyung can't tear his eyes off of him. He looks beautiful, and there's some kind of special glow radiating from him that Taehyung just finds magical. Jimin is all smiles and laughter and happy tears and squeezes to Taehyung's hand or thigh beneath the table, and he's absolutely radiant. Time and time again, Taehyung starts to try and ask Jimin, to confess to his boyfriend his own feelings— but the time is never right.

Just as Taehyung finishes his glass of champagne, he's about had it with his internal fretting, and is about to blurt it out before the DJ announces it's time for Seokjin and Hoseok's first dance. Taehyung huffs inwardly to himself as everyone stands from their tables to gather around the dance floor, and he hopes Jimin doesn't notice his sour expression when he grabs Taehyung's hand. He smiles as he lets Jimin guide him through the crowd until they can push to the front and stand right on the edge, and Taehyung sees that while they were all eating, the chairs were moved from the ceremony area and the shark tank had turned into a long dance hall.

There's cheers and whooping as Hoseok moonwalks out to the center of the dance floor and Seokjin laughs, following after him, bouquet still in hand. The audience, Taehyung and Jimin included, coo as they share a sweet kiss, and Seokjin turns when they break apart and raises his bouquet high in the air.

"Now, before we can dance— Would anyone care to hold this for me!?" He shouts, and the audience cheers excitedly as they realize that he's going to throw his bouquet. He waves towards the other end of the dance floor as unmarried individuals sprint there, and Hoseok points out Jiwoo and teases until she goes to join.

Taehyung's heart suddenly feels tight in his chest, and he's conflicted. He must have forgotten about this part, but maybe it's his opportunity to make it clear to Jimin how he really feels— Maybe if he goes down there, it'll send the message that he's ready for them to start making plans. He can even feel Jeongguk nudge his side, and he tosses his friend a nervous look, before taking a deep breath and—

"Oh my god, me!" Jimin yells, jumping excitedly. He takes off and dashes across the dance floor, and Hoseok mimics him and starts bouncing and cheering too. The crowd seems endeared, and Jimin plants himself right in the middle of the row of mostly ladies, with a determined pout on his face.

Taehyung has the biggest, happiest, most confused grin on his face as Seokjin and Hoseok turn to him and snicker. Jimin isn't looking at him, but his face is bright red, and now Taehyung's is too. He can hear Jeongguk laughing beside him as his heart races, but in what appears to be the running theme of this event, Taehyung abandons all preservations and just lets himself embrace the risk embarrassing himself for life in front of this entire crowd.

"Catch it, Jimin! Show them who's the right hand bitch!" He hollers, cheering like a mom at a little league's soccer game when Seokjin turns his back to the group, and flings the bouquet behind himself. The room is silent for a split-second as they watch the flowers soar through the air and it feels like slow motion. The people at the other end all dash forwards and try to catch it, but the bouquet goes low, and Jimin dives beneath just in time to secure it in his arms.

"Yes!" Jimin shouts as everyone celebrates, and scrambles to his feet. He waves it in the air and finally locks eyes with Taehyung again, and Taehyung feels over the moon. Jimin wants to get married. Jimin is ready to get married.

Jimin is ready and wants to get married to him.

Taehyung isn't sure when a happy tear slipped down his cheek, but he doesn't care. He just rushes forward to meet Jimin halfway on the side of the dance floor as Jimin runs back, and catches him in his arms. They stand there and bounce up and down happily together, trying to share a kiss, but are both just too excited to keep from bonking their heads together. They stand there, in their perfectly awful outfits, and let everyone see them make fools of themselves.

As they break apart and Jimin tugs Taehyung's sleeve to return to their spot beside Jeongguk, he worries for a second that they just stole Seokjin and Hoseok's thunder. But with one glance their way, he can see them both also laughing and celebrating, and coming forward to intercept them for a big group hug. As they break apart, Taehyung whispers a 'good luck' to Hoseok because he knows the surprise dance he has planned, and catches Seokjin whispering to his boyfriend that he had been aiming for Jimin all along.

Jeongguk wraps them both up in a big hug once they return to the crowd, and Taehyung waves for Namjoon and Yoongi to come join them when he sees them hovering nearby. They whisper excitedly as the music starts, and all watch the happy couple start their slow dance, before the music remixes and it turns into an entire performance of Hoseok dancing to woo his very bewildered, very endeared new husband. The entire time, Taehyung has his arm around Jimin's waist, keeping him close with the bouquet pressed between their chests.

The music is loud, and it would be rude to talk during the show, so Taehyung bites his tongue again. He waits until everyone is invited to the floor to dance, and once he has Jimin in his arms and swaying to some romantic song, he finally asks it.

"You want to get married?" Taehyung whispers, glancing down at the bouquet Jimin still holds with a death-grip.

"Of course I do," Jimin answers immediately, cheeks pink. Or at least Taehyung thinks he's blushing, but it's hard to tell beneath the shadows of sharks overhead. "I told you when we started dating, remember baby?"

"I know, I know, just—" Taehyung reassures, suddenly nervous again. He chews on his lower lip until Jimin moves his hand from the back of Taehyung's neck and to his cheek, tugging his lip out from between his teeth with his thumb.

"I mean, get married soon, yanno? Like… start planning it and stuff. Really thinking about it."

Jimin nods understandingly, and a giggle slips out between his smiling lips. Taehyung sweeps him to the side to avoid them colliding with Namjoon's haphazard dancing.

"Yeah, I do, Taehyungie. Really. This whole time, planning this wedding— I just haven't been able to stop thinking about what ours could be like." Jimin confesses.

"Really?" A gasp leaves Taehyung, and his eyes widen. "I-I've been doing the exact same thing— But I thought maybe you'd be sick and tired of weddings, after all the stress of planning this one." Taehyung explains, and Jimin's head tips to the side as he shyly laughs. It's like music to Taehyung's ears— better than the music that echoes throughout the aquarium.

"No, silly! I— I thought maybe you were unsure about it, is all. You seemed… Sort of uneasy, at times, today. I kept meaning to bring it up, but I thought maybe you were having cold feet or something." Jimin says, and it's Taehyung's turn to make him stop biting the inside of his cheek worriedly.

"Huh? No, no I— I kept on trying to ask you! But this morning you were all stressed out, so I didn't want to add to that. And then it just never seemed like the right time. I was about to say fuck it and run out there for the bouquet myself—" Taehyung starts to ramble, but cuts himself off and laughs as Jimin does.

"—that's why I did it! Babe, I was nervous this morning because I wanted to ask! I knew it would all go well, because I mean, I am a fantastic right-hand bitch, after all."

"Indeed you are," Taehyung nods, and frankly he feels a little dizzy, and not from the swaying. He just really can't believe that they both were struggling with the same thing, and for so long— and it took two ridiculous men in matching pink silk suits to get them to admit it.

"I love you," Taehyung blurts out as the song starts to come to an end, and Jimin looks up at him with all the love in the world. Taehyung's heart hammers in his chest as Jimin leans in, and they share what must be their gazillionth kiss.

"And I love you," Jimin whispers as they sway around, and he presses the bouquet against Taehyung's chest. "Can we get married?"

"Y-Yeah, yes— We absolutely can. We're going to." Taehyung announces happily to only Jimin, and they both grin as the hems of their ugly bell-bottoms brush together.
