Work Text:
The sheets all crumpled up and the blanket was kicked off the bed, lying on the floor. Three figures lying on the large bed on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Haru wakes up later than Shinnosuke did from their sleep. As soon as he’s awake, he’s greeted by the sight of his lover, Daisuke still sleeping. Before Haru can think of it, his hand reaches up to brush away the hair on Daisuke’s forehead. He runs his finger from Daisuke’s eyelids, to his nose and stops at his lips. Holding himself back from kissing him awake because he likes it better when Daisuke responds to his touch.
Then, Daisuke shifts a little and Haru whimpers—scared if he disturbs Daisuke’s sleep. Softly running his hand on Daisuke’s arms to stop him from being awake but his heart falls when Daisuke squints at him. “Ah! Sorry!” Haru murmurs when the frown on his lover’s face deepens, he holds out his hand in a rush to smooth out the frown. “No! Dai-chan, don’t frown!”
Shinnosuke, intrigued when he heard Haru’s panicking, peers over Daisuke’s body to look at them. He lays back on the bed when he’s not amused, groaning loudly about being bored to death.
Shinnosuke sits up from his lying position to poke Daisuke’s cheek. The older one makes an attempt to bite off his fingers which Shinnosuke is fast enough to pull his hand back. “Are you kids even listening to me?” he said, glaring at them.
Shinnosuke, a person who cannot be ignored and demands his friend’s attention, decided that he’s going to have it his way. He pulls Daisuke’s body and seals him in an embrace. Seeing Haru’s annoyed face amuses him and he decides it was worth it.
Daisuke melts in Shinnosuke’s embrace and his body shakes with the force of laughter that came because Haru’s comical face was priceless.
“Ah, Kamei!” Haru whines miserably at Shinnosuke.
“You can’t be horny while I am present,” Shinnosuke chides and Haru glares at him like he’s grown a longer neck. When Daisuke laughs at his boyfriend, Shinnosuke pulls his ears. “That goes to you too, Dai-chan.”
“We’re not horny all the time.” Daisuke rolls his eyes and crosses his arms.
Then, out of nowhere, Ryo—standing at the entrance of the door, looking at Haru in a menacing manner. “Especially you, you horny beast. So, please, no sex on my bed. Keep it in your pants.”
Before Haru can even begin to complain against his words, a pillow lands on Ryo’s face. A pleasant gift from Daisuke.
“Shut up, Ryo,” Daisuke said. Knowing that Ryo and Shinnosuke are worse than them when it comes to keeping their hands to themselves.
Ryo glares at him and walks away screaming he’ll pay for what he did.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever,” Daisuke said in return.
“I am not horny all the time! Right, Dai-chan?” Haru asks his boyfriend with a pitiful look on his face.
Daisuke—who seems to have really good control over his facial expression and finding great amusement from this whole thing—smiles sweetly at Haru. “Unfortunately, you are.”
Haru’s eyes widened at the reply he got. Feeling an immense amount of betrayal when his boyfriend doesn’t take his side. “Oh, fuck you.”
Daisuke smirks. “Mhm, you did.”
“Daisuke, do not continue your—”
“You did it real good .”
Haru sighs in defeat. “That I did.”
Shinnosuke—who’s obviously enjoying Haru’s misery—laughs and tells them they should help the others prepare the table because the food will be ready soon and Shinnosuke absolutely doesn’t want to deal with a grumpy Araki.
The house was soundless when Daisuke walked in. He shrugs thinking that since the others are probably asleep and not home. He doesn’t notice the shoes belonging to his boyfriend are scattered on the floor beside his shoes though. There’s only a dire need to get to bed and he couldn’t care enough about keeping the stupid shoes in their place.
He also can’t be bothered enough to check if the members are in their room or not. He just wants to sleep. And his blanket. That is enough. He also wants a particular someone to sleep with but Daisuke knows his boyfriend is busy so he shall settle with what he has for the night. Dragging his heavy feet across the hall, walking to his room.
But what he saw the moment he walked in his room, genuinely surprises him. A soft smile plastered on his face when he saw Haru sleeping on his bed, hugging his blanket. He pouts at the idea of having to pull the blanket away from him.
He doesn’t really care if Haru is the one hogging his blanket to sleep but he’s just tired and he had a plan in mind. The plan is to sleep with the blanket. He doesn’t know his boyfriend would just randomly decide to sleep on his bed today let alone, being home.
Daisuke, almost half-asleep, decides it was the best idea to pull the blanket from the grasp of Haru’s hands. Before Daisuke could see it coming, Haru’s strong hand pulled him down. He huffs and tries to move away but it catches him off guard once more when Haru pulls his body closer to him.
“Sleep,” Haru said with a gravelly voice. Deeper than how his voice normally sounds like.
They’re only a breath away now. As much as Daisuke knows it is nice to sleep with his blanket and his boyfriend, his position isn’t exactly comfortable at the moment. Daisuke sighs. “Haru— I need to— my hand—” Daisuke said disgruntledly as he tries to make an attempt to make himself comfortable in his boyfriend’s embrace.
Haru groggily loosens his embrace a bit and stares at his boyfriend with his brows furrowed, his eyes barely open. “Babe.”
Daisuke’s voice turns whiny. “My hand— you’re—”
Haru bodily moves Daisuke into a more comfortable position and pulls an extra blanket over them both but the moment he settles down before he manages to tuck Daisuke to sleep, Daisuke moves his weary body and settles himself on Haru’s chest. Haru huffs out a laugh and smiles fondly at him as his hand ruffles the soft locks of his boyfriend.
“Mhm… you’re warm.” Daisuke sighs. The plan to sleep with his blanket is obviously forgotten but his boyfriend is a good substitute. He sneaks his arm over Haru’s body as he feels him rubbing his back. “I’m so tired,” he murmurs as he snuggles in the sternum of his boyfriend. Letting the sound of Haru’s heartbeat lulls him to sleep.
“I missed you , Dai-chan,” Haru mumbles as he leaves a kiss on the crown of Daisuke’s head. “Sleep. I’m here.”
When Haru decides to come home, it’s already late. Wishing Daisuke to be home. He’s been missing the latter all day despite just meeting two days ago. He walks to Daisuke’s room to check if the latter is asleep or not since Haru comes later than he intends to. He promises to be home by 10 PM but now it’s 12 AM.
He’s a bit disappointed when Daisuke’s room lacks the presence of the owner.
But all the exhaustion has left his body seeing Daisuke in his room, sleeping on Ryo’s lap.
His heart clenches, witnessing Daisuke asleep, clutching onto his blanket. Seeing Daisuke asleep and his face relaxed, Haru briefly wondered if it’s possible for a living heart to actually melt in one’s body.
Ryo has probably been brushing his fingers through Daisuke’s hair as the younger one lets it stay there. He’s too immersed on his phone to notice Haru walking closer to them. But when he does notice Haru, Ryo immediately puts a finger on his lips as a signal for Haru to not make any noise as to not wake the sleeping Daisuke.
It all went downhill when Haru trips over a shirt he left on the floor two days ago. Daisuke is roused from his sleep at the loud thud of something heavy falling. Sitting on the bed, he stares at him with his brows furrowed and Haru desperately wants to kiss the frown away from his face. He apologetically smiles at Daisuke.
Haru answers with much amusement when his boyfriend groggily asks him what he’s doing on the floor. “It’s my room and you,” he walks closer to Daisuke, “my Dai-chan, is sleeping on the wrong lap.” He gives his half-awake boyfriend a playful glare. Daisuke only grumbles a ‘whatever’ in return.
Ryo, with a scandalous look on his face, said, “I took care of your boyfriend, you rotten milk, be grateful.”
Haru laughs at him and says ‘thank you, my lord’ with a bow as the finishing touch to which the younger laughed at.
Then, Daisuke got himself off the bed—hugging his blanket to his chest—and yanks Haru’s hand to lead him to his bedroom. Daisuke cannot stop the blush creeping up his cheeks when Haru kisses the tip of his nose as soon as they’re in his room.
Haru pulls Daisuke to his bed. “We should go to sleep. Practice starts at eight tomorrow,” he said as they both settled down.
20 minutes after lying down, Daisuke is still wide awake. Thanks to Haru for waking him up. He rolls over to see if he’s awake. He pokes Haru’s chest, “Haru, you awake?”
Haru sighed. “No.”
“I, uh, I have a question.” Daisuke stares at Haru's face. “What… No… I was saying…” he trails off from his thoughts. Forgetting what to say and sensing his boyfriend now looking at him sluggishly. “Uh, if a guinea pig… and a normal pig had a baby, would the baby be called… you know... a piggy-er guinea pig?”
Haru raises his eyebrows in amusement at his question. “Well, if you and I had a baby,” he pulls Daisuke closer to his chest so they’re only a breath away, “would it get my charm and your late-night thoughts, or your sexy body and my murder thoughts?”
Daisuke blushes. “I… don’t know how to feel about this… male can’t get pregnant—”
Haru brushes the hair from his temple and leaves a kiss. “Go to sleep, baby.” He grins when Daisuke’s heart skipped a beat.
That only manages to make Daisuke blushes harder as he stutters an ‘okay’ and snuggles closer to Haru.
They were in the waiting room, recently done with their performance. Haru is sitting in the corner of the waiting room, facetiming his parents. When his mom switched the screen so his cat, Leona could be shown, Haru almost burst into tears. He missed his cat so much and she looks so happy.
Daisuke, who just had his makeup removed, looked for a particular someone in the room. When he finds the person he’s been looking for, he walks over to him and takes a seat beside him. Smiling when he noticed Leona on the screen. He doesn’t want to bother his boyfriend talking to his family so he leans his head on the wall.
Haru, noticing the presence of his boyfriend, switches the phone to his other hand so he could run his fingers through Daisuke’s hair. Then Haru shows the screen to Daisuke. Leona meows when she notices Daisuke. The latter leans his head on Haru’s shoulder and gives the cat a dopey smile.
It’s pretty obvious how Leona loves Daisuke as if he’s family too. Even though he has a serious allergy, Daisuke’s is still stubborn enough to play with Leona. As long as they don’t have to make a trip to the hospital like that one time, it’s fine.
Then his father's face was showing on the screen.
“ When are you kids coming home? We miss you. You too, Daisuke.”
“We’ll visit during the, uh, weekend? We’re free, right?” he turned to Daisuke and the latter gave him a nod.
“Great! I’ll cook all your favourite foods then! You better come home!”
Daisuke and Haru couldn’t help but laugh when Mrs Kato said that. They bid their goodbyes.
As they’re walking to the car, Haru couldn’t help but smile to himself. He bumps their shoulders and sneakily gives his boyfriend a peck on the cheek just to see that blush creeping up his pale cheeks.
Daisuke gawks at his boyfriend. “What?" When Haru gives him a questioning look, he groans. "You have this look on your face."
“It's just… you make me so happy.” Haru’s face beaming. Literally beaming.
“No shit, detective," Daisuke rolls his eyes as he smiles at Haru's sudden confession.
“I’ll always love you,” Haru said without missing a beat. When Daisuke’s ears got all red and he failed to come up with a snarky comment, Haru couldn’t stop himself from giving him another peck on his cheek. He’s so in love with the love of his life and he doesn't know how he can be more and more in love with him every day.
Haru had been on a tour for almost half of the year. A tour around Europe and he couldn’t be any happier to get the chance to meet his fans. One of the reasons why he does music was them. But the only reason he wishes to be home right now is because of Daisuke.
Daisuke called him on the last week of his tour, drunkenly mumbling ‘I’m sorry… I miss you’ with a hiccup. He sounded so distraught and Haru's heart felt like it was ripped apart. It caught him off guard because Daisuke usually deals well with him being away for a long time because of work. He’s been away for half of the year and things have been pretty stressful for them both. Meeting for a short time and trying to make things work.
Things were fine and of course, they both have things they disagreed on. They always make it work though. But that one night, Haru told him that he wanted to take a break from their relationship. Daisuke wanted to put up a fight but the latter knows that Haru wants some space for himself and for them. So, he agreed on taking a break. It was okay after a short while.
But a conversation he had with an elderly lady when he was in Europe, made him realize something. He was at fault for doubting Daisuke's love.
They had a conversation about his work and she told him she’s planning on travelling to go to see her son’s wedding — a cute story involving her son and his highschool sweetheart finding each other after a long time being broken up.
He told her that he’s taking a break from his relationship and mumbled something like, “I wish I could find a love like that someday.” He said that with Daisuke in mind.
The elderly lady smiled fondly at him, shook her head and said, “Chico, love like that isn’t just found. It’s built. How many perfect, decorated temples do you think my ancestors stumbled across in Tikal or Tenochtitlan? None. They found a good, level spot, maybe some water nearby, and said, ‘Here. We can build something here.’” She then held his hand, “Look for a clearing in the forest, young man. Not a hidden city.”
Haru gave her a weak smile and mumbled, “Yeah, I can see that now.”
The elderly lady had a knowing smile on her face, “When you get home later, go to your lover and talk to him. He loves you just as much.”
Here he is, standing in front of the door to Daisuke’s house. Holding back from pressing the doorbell but there’s nothing more he wanted than to have Daisuke back. To have his love back.
There’s nothing he wished for than to just have his lover back in his arms. He took a deep breath and pressed the doorbell.
After a few minutes of waiting that felt like hours, the door opened. There Daisuke stood—wearing Haru’s oversized shirt and his legs clad only in a boxer—with obvious fear in his eyes though he tries to appear with a tough facade.
“Hey,” Daisuke said.
“Hi,” Haru said breathlessly. “Can I, uh, can I come in?” When he noticed the hopeful look in Daisuke’s eyes, he added, “can I please talk to you?”
Daisuke only nods and walks inside. “Do you want anything to drink?” When his question wasn’t answered, he turned to look at Haru.
“Daisuke, I’m… I’m sorry,” Haru said as he walked closer and when Daisuke took a step backwards, he stopped walking closer. “I… I know I asked for a break but these past few months without you… it’s killing me. I realized that I was too selfish… I didn’t think… Dai, I’m sorry for thinking you don’t love me more than I do love you and… I’m sorry that I let it get to my head.”
Daisuke—with bloodshot eyes and trembling lips, looked at Haru with so much love that he wishes that could be conveyed through words—said, “Oh, Haru.” He wet his lips. A habit he does when he’s scared.
Daisuke crosses his arms and brings a hand to his mouth, to stop the tears he knows that’s coming. “There are no such things as who loved the other more in relationships. That’s… it’s bullshit.” He kept his gaze levelled and added, “I love… I love you and I will always love you. It’s not just— it’s not just a feeling and it shouldn’t be just that. It’s what I choose to do every day— every day when I wake up and look at your face and say that I still do. I still do.” He whimpered. “I still choose you. Over and over again. You’re it for me. I’ll choose you.”
“So, uh, can I do anything to, uh-”
Daisuke looked at him as his tears were between his eyelashes and made it hard to see clearly. “You’ve always had me, silly. You will always have me,” he manages with a cracked voice as he smiles.
Haru leans closer and kisses his forehead. “Always.”
Daisuke cries, even more, when Haru hands sneak up behind his waist to pull him closer to his body. Afraid of letting go now more than ever.
“You’re wearing my shirt,” Haru said as he smiles at his weeping lover. He wipes the tears from Daisuke’s cheeks delicately.
Daisuke tries to brush it off with a wave of a hand. “There wasn’t any shirt left for me to wear—” His words were cut off when Haru pulled him into a kiss.
“I miss you too, Dai-chan. I long for you every day, more than I should,” Haru said as he grabs Daisuke’s face gently, tracing his thumb over Daisuke’s lips.
“I thought I lost you forever,” Haru mutters, eyes still on those soft lips. Thumb still tracing over Daisuke’s lips. “I almost forgot how soft your lips were. I could… kiss them all day.” He smirks, noticing the rosy cheeks of his lover, from both crying and the embarrassment. Kissing him felt like home. So, he did what he knows best. He pulls Daisuke in for another kiss.
The practice room was cold but now it’s just hot. Of course, it’s hot, there’s sweating grown men everywhere. And it's the summer for the love of God. They’re all just lazing around after an intense practice. Their next comeback will be in just another few weeks.
The other members have no clue that Haru and Daisuke have rekindled their relationship. Well, they want to but there’s just no right time for them to talk about it. As they get busier preparing for the comeback, they both just kinda forget to tell their friends. Oh well, it happens.
Ryo, Shinnosuke and Daisuke are wreaking havoc and doing god-knows-what. Haru smiles as he looks at them from the bench he’s sitting on. He decides to take a nap for a short time as they wait for their lunch to arrive.
After what felt like not more than 10 minutes, Haru noticed the commotion had quietened down. He felt a poke on the side of his cheek. He looks around the room and there’s only him and Daisuke left. Glaring at the culprit with one eye. “What?”
Daisuke—holding a phone to Haru’s face and obviously recording him, with a mischievous glint in his eyes.“I was sitting there, so move your ass.”
Haru looks at the spaces left beside him. “There’s a lot of spaces left.”
Daisuke grumbles. “If you’re gonna be stubborn,” he makes himself comfortable as he sits on Haru and bodily turns himself around so he’s facing Haru, “fine then.”
“You could’ve just asked if you want to cuddle, Dai-chan.” Haru quips as he pulls Daisuke closer to him. With a teasing smile—he looks into Daisuke’s eyes and squeezes his butt. “So what do we have here?”
Daisuke—not even the slightest bit aroused by his boyfriend’s action, taps his chin with one hand as the other is still recording his boyfriend—smirks. “Hm, what do you have here?”
Haru schools his face to a serious look. “I’m not sure of it myself. I should give it a check.” He ignores the phone recording him and leans closer to Daisuke’s face. “But I have to get something off my chest first.” He tried to look apologetic.
Daisuke faked a gasp and crossed his fingers, “Is it your ugly shirt? I hope it’s your ugly shirt. Please say it’s your ugly shirt.” He closes his eyes and repeats, "I hope it's your ugly shirt. Please say it's your ugly shirt," over and over again.
Haru holds back a smile and aggressively starts kissing all over Daisuke’s face and when Daisuke—surprised out of his mind and laughing his heart out—tries to squirm away, he tightens his grip on Honbin’s small waist. When Haru starts kissing down his neck, Daisuke holds back a moan. Haru grins and starts kissing all over his face again.
Daisuke screams, “Haru, no!”
Daisuke manages to scramble his way out of the tight grip of his boyfriend and his ridiculous amount of kissing. “Ugh, when I’m sweating— and you’re sweating too!” Daisuke exclaimed as his eyes widened like saucers.
Haru, this time being the one with a wicked grin, chased after him. “I need to check you!” he said ridiculously. Daisuke laughs out loud and runs away from him but a laughing bean isn’t very much quick-witted as he usually is. Haru caught him in his arms in a blink of an eye. “Got you,” he said breathlessly.
“I am sweating and you’re sweating, so no kissing,” Daisuke said. He places his small hands on Haru’s firm chest. Haru has definitely buffed up, that’s a fact he can’t deny. He’s buffier than Daisuke is now. “Later when I am all fresh, you can hog me all you want—”
Haru manages to silence Daisuke as he squishes his face and before Daisuke manages to get a word out, Haru grins—filled with an overwhelming irritation of love and affection for Daisuke. “You are so cute, I love you so much!” and gives Daisuke the biggest smooch the latter had ever received in his whole life. When he pulls away—his heart fills with so much warmth he feels like he could walk out during winter without any clothes—he beams. Haru is literally vibrant seeing the dazed look on his lover’s face.
They both were a little too caught up in their world to notice the others had walked in the practice room. Ryo and Shinnosuke were laughing their ass off seeing Daisuke's comical face. Daisuke is still in a daze because he really didn’t see that coming. Shinnosuke though was genuinely surprised to see what had just taken place.
“Why don’t I have a clue about you two getting back together?” Araki questions the couple. Looking at them with much amusement as he crossed his arms.
“Araki-kun, these two weren’t exactly as discreet as they think they were.” Ryo snorts.
Daisuke only now manages to get out of the daze—with a blush creeping up from his neck all the way to his ears and face—and with a pout evident on his face turns away from Haru. “I really didn’t see that coming.”
“Alright, now let’s get back to practice!” Shinnosuke orders.
When Daisuke walked away from Haru, he felt the other tug at his shirt. He raises an eyebrow. “What?”
“This shirt is Versace, Dai, Versace,” Haru exclaimed.
It was Daisuke’s turn to put on a smug grin, dimples showing on his cheeks. “Versace or not, still an ugly shirt. Branded clothes don’t justify good fashion, sweetcheeks.” He taps on Haru’s cheeks.
“I— Rude!”
“Your pretty face makes up for it though.” Daisuke giggled.
A thought crossed his mind. Still tugging at Daisuke’s shirt, he pondered for a few seconds. “Is that why you never want to go shopping with us or buy anything whenever any of us ask you out?”
“You guys said it yourself, I have no earthly greed.” Daisuke rolled his eyes and fled away from Haru’s grabby hands.
After practising for another 3 hours to perfect the dance moves, Shinnosuke was satisfied. He decides to cut the time for practice today since the kids did well. They’re all sprawled on the floor trying to regain their breath.
Daisuke decides it’s a good time to cause mischief though.
“Haru,” he calls for the other as Haru was lying down on the floor beside him. Haru hums. Daisuke rolled over so his body was facing the floor. “Do you know that in Norwegian, you don’t refer to your significant other as a ‘boyfriend’ or ‘girlfriend’?” he says as he places one hand on top of the other and rests his chin on it, staring at his boyfriend. This time he was the one with a wicked grin plastered on his face.
Haru, being the good boyfriend he is, trying his best to indulge his boyfriend. “Oh, really? Then what do they call them?”
“In Norwegian, you say ‘kjaereste’ which is gender-neutral and it literally translates to ‘the dearest’! Isn’t that cute?” Daisuke beams at him.
Haru rolls on his side so he could have a better focus on his lover. He smiles back and couldn’t help but admire the sweats running down from his hair, forehead and down his neck. Even disgustingly covered in sweats, Daisuke is still a sight to behold. “Yes.”
Haru didn’t know if that was the answer to Daisuke’s question or his thoughts. But his answer was ‘yes’ to both. He decides it’s his turn to question Daisuke. “Do you know in Swedish you refer to your boyfriend or girlfriend by saying ‘alskling’?”
Daisuke smiles sweetly—so sickeningly sweet like honey—and said, “No idea. Tell me.”
Haru moves closer and breathes. “My beloved one or another translation is the one who holds my love.” When he notices the rosy cheeks of his boyfriend deepened in colour, he chuckles triumphantly.
“And in Finnish they say ‘mulkvisti’ which translates to ‘one I don’t hate as much as the others’,” Daisuke added smartly.
Haru squints at him. “You’re lying. I saw that twitch on your eyes.”
“Mulkvisti translates to dickhead, baby.”
Haru was left gaping at what Daisuke just said. That dimples protruding his soft cheeks must be the reason why Daisuke gets away easily from being held responsible for all the mischief he caused. Even Araki, when they just debuted, tolerated only Daisuke’s antics.
But he’d do anything to make that smile stay on Daisuke’s face. Would do anything to protect the childlike innocence he still has left in him. He would do anything to protect Daisuke. Just like how Daisuke would come for blood for anyone who dares to come Haru’s way. Well, metaphorically.
Haru was awakened by the need to relieve his bladder. He notices the lack of warmth on his chest and looks beside him as he notices his lover isn’t snuggling up to his chest. He bit his lips and wondered where the latter went. When he checks the time, he can only heave a sigh as it says 3 AM.
“Bladder first, then Daisuke.”
As soon as he is done in the bathroom, he walks straight ahead to the kitchen and is only greeted with the lack of Daisuke. He peeks at the living room. It was dark. But there Daisuke was, sitting crossed-legged on the sofa. Making him look awfully smaller than he is. The living room’s source of lights is the desk lamp Daisuke switched on to read the book he’s holding.
His heart swells with love when he sees Daisuke. It’s ridiculous how he can just sit there and still have Haru wrapped around his small little finger. He clears his throat and Daisuke jumps when he notices him. “Mi amor,” Haru gave the latter a smile as he advanced closer to his lover, “It’s three, what are you doing up?”
Daisuke doesn’t say anything as he yawns and closes the book. “Can’t sleep,” Daisuke mumbles after a while as he places the book on the coffee table. “Tried reading though but it didn't work.”
Haru knows Daisuke has difficulty falling asleep sometime at night. He smiles from where he stands. “Do you wanna talk about it?”
Daisuke shakes his head. “It’s… nothing. This… I just...”. He yawns and pinches the bridge between his nose. “Just lots of thoughts… normal stuff, you know.” He rubs his eye. Feeling exhausted but not having the want to head back to bed.
Haru scratches his naked chest. Clad only in his boxers while Daisuke is fully clothed in his large shirt and shorts. He tries thinking of a way to get Daisuke off of his mind even for a little while. He bit his lips as he took a seat beside him.
Daisuke glances at Haru. Watching him fidgets with his hands, not knowing what to do. His heart softens knowing the fact that his lover is probably racking his brain trying to come up with a way to comfort him. Daisuke gently pulls his fidgeting hands in his, “Hey,” he gives him a little smile when he looks at him. “Everything is okay.”
“Don’t say that,” Haru said softly. “I… It sucks when I see you, like this and I… I want to help… but—”
“You know, sometimes you don’t have to do anything to make people feel okay.” Daisuke fixed him a smile.
“But you’re not people and I want you to be okay.” Haru pouts as his eyes linger on their hands. He intertwines their fingers together. “I understand that you’re used to keeping things to yourself but like— I want to, I want to help you— so that you know you’ll always have me no matter what.”
“Okay,” Daisuke uttered. He gives Haru a heartfelt smile.
When Haru saw the dimples pop up on his lover’s cheeks, his heart was at ease again. He despises it when the dimples don’t appear on Daisuke’s cheeks every time he smiles. It sets an unsettling feeling deep down in his heart. Making him feel at a loss of what to do just for the heaviness to leave Daisuke’s chest.
An idea came to mind after a short while. He reached for the remote control and switched to Youtube. Searching for that one song he always sings for Daisuke. He grins like a Chesire cat when he finds what he's looking for. He put the song on a loop.
Daisuke smiles when he realizes it was Frank Sinatra’s The Way You Look Tonight. But it was a cover and a soothing one too. Haru always sings this song in so many ways but this was the song that always lulls Daisuke to sleep.
Haru turns to Daisuke when the latter raises an eyebrow at him. Haru gets off the sofa and holds out a palm to Daisuke.
“C’mon,” he pleads. “Get off your cute little butt for me.” He gives his lover a reassuring smile, waiting for him to take his hand. Haru encourages him and when Daisuke takes the invitation and gets off the couch, Haru can feel his face breaking from smiling too much.
“I don’t know how to dance to slow songs. I mean… my sister forced me to learn the dance with them but I don’t really—”
“Shhh, it’s okay.” Haru squeezes his hand. When he saw the uncertainty in Daisuke’s eyes, he pulled him gently towards him. “I don’t want it to be perfect. I just want to make you feel better—”
“Haru—”
“I know it won’t wash away all your worries but… dance with me?” When Daisuke nods, Haru guides his hands over his own shoulder. “Put your hand here— yes, do whatever you please to, grab my hair, play with my neck, just anything.”
Daisuke chuckles and begins to play with Haru’s nape as he starts to feel lighter with the song playing in the background. He lets Haru grab his waist and pulls him closer to his body, even more, closer than they were before. Then, his breath almost comes to a stop when Haru looks at him. Like nothing else matters more than him.
Daisuke holds his breath. He looks at Haru in the eye, holding his gaze. The song is still playing in the background. With trembling hands, he holds Haru’s face as gently as if he might break. He caresses his cheeks with his thumb and in one breath, Daisuke leans in to kiss him. Hoping that the kiss conveyed everything he couldn’t put into words.
When they finally pull away, Daisuke leans his head on the firm shoulder of his lover. Letting Haru rocking them both to the song playing. He closes his eyes, relaxed now more than ever.
