Our Celestial Bonds

Summary:

Takes place years after SF3; Geo and Luna have been dating for a few years now and things seemed to have been going well. However, Luna recently has begun to worry that her relationship isn't as genuine as she might think. Luckily a heart to heart with her boyfriend might be just what the former Prez needs. GeoxLuna Fluff.

Notes:

Heh, I think this might be my first legitimate fluff story in many moons. Gotta say, it feels nice writing it after a long time, especially for my favorite Megaman series.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Man, it’s hard to believe it’s been 4 years since we came here,” Geo said, having a small tender smile on his face as he stared out into the dark ocean sea, “It almost seems like a lifetime ago with everything that had happened.”

Late night in the beautiful country of Alohaha, two teenage figures could be seen standing out at the far edge of the docks. Staring out in the distant waters while the evening night illuminated the environment, given out a beautifully glorious ambiance. Geo smiled, stretching his arms above his head, taking in the serene sight before he turned his gaze over to his girlfriend. Who, on the other hand, didn’t seem to be paying the environment much mind. In fact, it didn’t seem as though she didn’t register him speaking just now. Her mind and gaze far off into the distance.

“Luna...? Hey. Luna!” Geo called out, surprising the blonde as he snapped his fingers in front of her, “You okay? You’ve been quiet ever since we got here.”

“I… just... I’m sorry,” Luna gripped her arm and walked forward. Stopping just shy from the very edge and staring down at her reflection in the lantern-lit area, “I’ve just had a lot of things on my mind recently.”

Geo folded his arms with a slight head tilt, “Would that have anything to do with why you brought us all the way out here?”

Luna didn’t respond immediately, as if she had been trying to find the right words to speak. Ultimately, she took a deep breath, turning and facing Geo, “Geo wanted to ask you something; something that’s been on my mind for a long time now. Do you… regret being with me?”

It took Geo a few seconds to register what Luna had just said. Blinking as he unfolded his arms and let them fall to the side slowly, “I- excuse me…?” He uttered softly yet incredulously.

“I said, do you regret being with me?” Luna repeated, her voice a lot louder and clearer to the brown-haired boy. Extending a bit of a harsh glare to her boyfriend, though it quickly died when she noticed the startled expression on his face, “I… I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to- I was just…” The blonde let out a sound of frustration as she gripped her head in an attempt to calm herself.

Now while Geo had been expecting Luna to reply to him with a lot of things. Hearing that certainly wasn’t one of them, “Of course not!” He said instantly, almost sounding more than a little hurt by the insinuation that he didn’t care about her. But in reality, he was more confused if anything, “Luna, where is all of this come from?”

Luna once again, looked away from Geo, turning around to face the sea, “I… I’ve been… thinking about our relationship. All the way back to when we were kids and how we first met,” She hugged her arms, “And I realized how for the majority of that time, I had been infatuated with you mostly due to you being Megaman.”

Geo was stunned at the revelation and Luna, seeing that he wasn’t saying anything, took this as a chance to continue on.

“Y-You know how I used to be when I was younger. I used to place Megaman on a pedestal; absolutely refusing to see him as anything less than a God in my eyes,” She laughed a bit despite herself, “Looking back at it, I always thought of Megaman as my personal Knight in Shining Armor. Especially when you had saved me during that train incident that fateful day. I must’ve looked like a total idiot back then, acting all lovey-dovey, drooling like a moron at the mere sight of him- you, every time I saw you come in to save the day. Granted I was a little kid, sure. But with the way I normally am around others, it was completely unacceptable in acting the way I did.”

“Well… I can’t really say you’re completely wrong there.” He muttered, rubbing the back of his head. As he recalled back to all of the times Luna had acted the way she claimed she did. It was almost hard to believe that the girl who could chew out and make a grown adult cry if she wanted to, was also the same one who got all weak-kneed the moment the two bumped into each other. Puppy love really did know how to change a person.

Luna shook her head, “Even after I learned the truth, I still couldn’t bring myself to fully accept it. That you had been the same person I idolized and adored.” She looked at her hands, balling them up into fists, “I lied to myself, made excuses, did everything I could to justify believe that you and Megaman were somehow still two different people altogether. Anything to help reject the notion that the hero I loved was the same boy I had struggled to get back into school. But I had to face the facts, you were both one and the same.” She relaxed and unfurled her hands as she smiled faintly at Geo.

“Ironically, it was me coming to terms with my feelings for you as well.”

“What?”

“I think part of the reason I kept refusing to accept you as Megaman was mainly because of the conflicted feelings I had for you,” She started. “Up until I learned the truth, I was certain that my heart only belonged to Megaman and no one else. And I truly believed nothing would change that; then you came along, and my feelings started getting all kerfluffled. . . Yes, I said kerfuffle, what of it?” She huffed at the amused look on Geo’s face.

“Anyways, as time passed and I got to know you more personally, my thoughts on you began to change. And before I even knew it, I started to gain a crush on you as well.” Luna revealed, folding her arms and looking away with a blush, “At first I didn’t want to think anything of it, mainly because of my feeling for Megaman. Megaman was Megaman, while you… well, I don’t want to say you’re plain but compared to your alternate self, you really couldn’t hold a candle to him even if you tried.”

Geo didn’t say anything, but the smile on his face told him that he didn’t mind the unintended jab in the least from Luna.

“Call it denial, call it stubbornness, heck, you could even call it pettiness. It still didn’t change the fact that I was being childish in my stance on the matter,” Luna then smiled, “But when I finally managed to get my head out my butt. I realized that it hadn’t been Megaman that made you special, rather, it was the other way around.”

“I see…” Geo started, processing everything that Luna said, in the end managing a smile by the time Luna had reached her conclusion. Still, that didn’t stop him from asking his next question, “So then, I don’t really understand; if you managed to reach this conclusion by yourself. What seems to be the problem?”

“Aren’t you bothered?” Luna replied, trying her best not to tear up as rubbed her eye, “Bothered by the fact that I’ve more or less been using and deceiving you just to figure out my own feelings? I mean, for God’s sakes, for all we know, I could still be using you just to satisfy my own selfish need.”

As Luna began to openly cry, she didn’t notice Geo walking up and pulling her into an embrace. Stunning her as she felt his hand rubbing the back of her head in a comforting manner.

“Huh?”

“I swear, you tend to worry too much, you know that?” Geo spoke softly into her ear, “I’m not bothered by that, I never was. If I’m being honest, you were never really the most… discrete when it came to your feelings and emotions. In fact, I… kinda had an idea of what was going through your head for quite a while now.”

Luna had a deep blush on her face, and had a look of relief on her face hearing Geo tell her that he didn’t mind how she had been feeling. Only for that relief to turn into shock and horror when he revealed that he had known about her plight. “Y-You… You knew?!” She nearly shrieked in embarrassment.

“S-Somewhat, i-it’s not like I was trying to hide it from you or anything,” He assured quickly while waving his hands. “I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable or anything if I brother it up, so I figured maybe it would be better if I let you come to me about it whenever you felt ready.”

“Mou…” Luna puffed out her cheeks, glaring cutely up at her boyfriend. But even despite that, the frown melted into a smile as she leaned into him, “You may be an idiot sometimes, but you’re my idiot.” She finished with a soft murmur.

Geo smiled as he held Luna in a warm embrace. The couple enjoying the other in a peaceful silence, “. . . Hey Luna, I want you to promise me something.”

Luna looked up at Geo, “What is it?”

“I want you to promise me that the next time you feel this way. Don’t keep it to yourself,” He lifted her chin up to have her stare into his eyes. “We’re supposed to be in this together right? I can’t help you if you don’t let me. You helped me whenever I had been down all those years ago. Now, I want it to be my turn.”

Luna had a deep blush on her face as her eyes became misty with tears, wiping them she smiled and nodded happily, “Deal!”

Without another word, Luna pulled Geo in for a deep and passionate kiss. This one holding a lot more meaning unlike every other one they’ve had until now. Feeling her boyfriend’s arms wrap around her, there was only single one thing running through the Student Council President’s mind at that very moment.

“You really are my Knight in Shining Armor, Geo.”
