Work Text:

Kaminari sighed as he plopped onto the sofa, his head spinning slightly and body tingling. Whether the tingling was actual electricity or just the buzz from the shit load of alcohol he’d consumed, he didn’t know. It was very likely it was both the former and the latter.

Kaminari had been dancing and playing games with his friends and decided to take a break and sit on the couch for a while, getting too tired to stand on his own. He looked around the room slowly, seeing what his friends were doing. Sero and Kirishima were dancing and trying to convince Bakugou to join them on the dance floor, while a bunch of other people danced to the music. Others were sitting on the other couch playing a game, laughing and slurring their words.

Coming to the Christmas party was a good decision, he had a lot of fun dancing and doing stupid things with his friends, some stupid things may have included pranks involcing mistletoe. Kaminari chuckled at the chaos him and his friends had caused. He had come to the party planning on hanging out with his friends and taking a break from heroing, maybe drinking a little. But then one drink turned into two and then to three.

Kaminari looked around the room once more, noticing something was off even with his slower than usual brain. The girls weren’t anywhere in sight. Which was strange because Kaminari had just been dancing with Mina and he had just seen Uraraka and Tsu playing Truth or Dare with the rest of the so-called ‘Dekusquad.’

And suddenly, as if thinking about them had summoned the girls, Jirou walked into the room, grabbed something and then left.

Kaminari stood up on impulse and followed her in the direction she went. He was led to a door that was propped open just the tiniest bit, he wasn’t sure if that was where Jirou went, but Kaminari figured it was his best bet. He walked down the stairs behind the door, figuring it led to the basement, and opened the door at the bottom of the staircase. He poked his head inside the room, seeing a large area with a big couch against one wall, directly opposite the couch, was a huge TV, the rest of the room was fairly empty other than shelves on the walls and a few plants scattered around the room.

After seeing all of the girls sitting in a circle, talking amongst themselves as Jirou and Momo stood before the TV. Kaminari congratulated himself on finding them and stepped inside the room, closing the door quietly behind him.

Kaminari made his way to where Jirou was standing and engulfed her in a hug, he didn’t know what made him do it, probably the alcohol.

“Jamming-Whey, what are you doing?” Jirou asked, her voice muffled by his shoulder.

“Isn’t it obvious?” Kaminari asked back, “I’m hugging you.”

“No, I know that. I’m meaning why?”

Kaminari shrugged, “Do I need a reason to hug my friend?”

Jirou sighed and patted him on the shoulder.

“How did you know we were here?” He heard someone else ask.

Kaminari looked up, releasing Jirou, and saw Momo was looking at him questioningly.

“I followed her, well, I saw her go in this direction and got lucky.” Kaminari gestured to Jirou, who had gone back to doing what she was doing before he had interrupted her.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

“Setting a game up.”

“Can I help?”

“No you can not. You’d cause a power outage with the state you’re in right now.”

“Oh come on Kyo, I promise I’ll be careful.”

Kaminari heard Jirou sigh and take a step back, gesturing forward to let him take her place.  He grinned and grabbed the wire she was holding, immediately feeling a shock run through his hand.

Kaminari chuckled, finding it funny for some reason, and lifted his other hand up, generating some electricity in it. He was about to touch the wire to his palm when something grabbed his wrist.

“See, this is what I meant. Give me the wire,” Jirou said, her grip strong on his wrists.

“But it feels funny, you should try it,” he held up the wire higher and tried to touch it to his palm again.

“Ah ah ah,” Jirou said, as if chiding a dog, and wrapped her ear jacks around his wrists as well, “give it back Pikachu.”

Kaminari sighed and handed the wire to her, slumping his shoulders.

“Good, now sit and don’t move.”

Kaminari sighed once again and sat down directly next to Jirou’s feet, resting his head against her leg as he played with the bottom of her pants.

“Hey, Kaminari, sorry to break it to you, but this is an all girls thing, so you’re not allowed to be here,” came Tsu’s voice.

“She’s right, you should go back upstairs and hang out with your friends,” Jirou chimed in.

Kaminari wrapped his legs around her feet, “I’d rather hang out with you though.”

“He’s fine, he can stay,” Mina said cheerily. “Right Hagakure?” He saw Mina nudge her friend with her elbow and furrowed his eyebrows, confused.

“Oh yeah, totally!” Hagakure agreed.

Kaminari grinned at the two, his confusion already forgotten.

“Yeah, what’s the big deal? He’s drunk anyways,” Uraraka said, her mouth full of food. Momo nodded her head in agreement.

He saw Tsu open her mouth to say something, but then Uraraka leaned over and whispered something in her ear. Tsu nodded and whispered something back.

“I agree with them, ribbit.”

“That is exactly why he shouldn’t be here, he’ll get in our way,” Kaminari heard Jirou say.

“Hey!” He protested, looking up at Jirou and resting his head on her thigh while giving her the best puppy dog eyes he could muster.

“Don’t even try it.” Jirou held up a finger.

“It’s…” Kaminari paused and looked to the side to count the girls, “five, wait six against one. We win,” he grinned.

Jirou sighed, “Fine.”

With that settled, everyone got ready to play whatever they were about to play, Kaminari had asked multiple times but no one would answer him. He didn’t mind anyways, he wasn’t paying attention to what they were doing, he was busy having fun playing with Jirou’s hair.

After a few minutes, Kaminari’s eyes started to droop, his energy spent. He yawned and laid his head on Jirou’s lap, who started stroking his hair, and wrapped his arms around her waist.

“Hey, wake up we’re leaving.” Kaminari heard from far away, feeling someone shake his shoulders.

“Chargedolt, come on,” Jirou’s voice came again.

Kaminari forced his eyes open, rolling onto his back and looking up into his friend’s eyes. He reached his hand up, twirling her hair around his finger.

“Hi,” he said.

Kaminari saw something flit through Jirou’s eyes, but it was gone as fast as it had come, he might have been imagining it.

Jirou cleared her throat, “Hi, get up, we’re leaving.”

“Oh cool, where are we going?” Kaminari asked, not moving an inch.

“I’m going to my apartment, and you’re going to yours.”

“Then I’m not moving.” Kaminari rolled over and hugged Jirou tightly.

Jirou sighed deeply, “Kaminari please, I want to go home.”

Kaminari shook his head.

“Do you not want to go home alone?”

Kaminari nodded.

“Then go with one of the guys, they should be leaving soon as well.”

“No,” he said, his voice muffled.

Jirou sighed again, “Do you want to come with me?”

Kaminari nodded.

“Fine, let’s go. Someone has to make sure you don’t do something stupid anyways.”

“Yay!” Kaminari exclaimed and sprung up to his feet, losing his balance and stumbling backwards.

He felt a hand on his back and looked over to see Jirou stabilizing him and shaking her head, a small smile on her lips. He grinned at her and gave her a thumbs up.

The group made their way up the stairs and towards the front door. Kaminari however got distracted and saw something cool. So of course he had to go check it out.

A minute or two later, he heard his name being called and saw Jirou looking for him. Kaminari waved at her and jogged, well, more like stumbled his way to her.

“You’re ridiculous,” Jirou shook her head when he came up to her.

Kaminari only grinned at her and put his arm around her shoulders as Jirou led him outside after putting his jacket on.

“Where is everyone?” he asked, the cold air stinging his skin.

“They left while I was looking for you.”

Kaminari hummed and they continued to Jirou’s apartment.

They walked in comfortable silence for a while, Kaminari starting to play with her hair again.

“How much did you drink exactly?” Jirou asked.

Kaminari paused, “Uh… not too much. Maybe three or four cups. Or maybe it was five.”

Jirou shook her head and smiled.

Kaminari noticed a row of benches next to them and jumped on top of it, walking across it and then jumping onto the next bench.

“You’re going to hurt yourself,” Jirou chided him as she kept walking.

Kaminari jumped on the bench a few more times and hopped down, catching up to his friend. He continued walking on the sides of things whenever they came up next to them and chuckling when he tripped over something, all while singing Christmas songs. He even caught Jirou laughing and singing along with him a few times.

“Oh, that was a bad idea,” Kaminari said as he held his stomach. Jumping onto a streetlight and spinning around it wasn’t the best thing to do when you’re drunk.

Jirou scoffed, “Told you so.”

Kaminari looked up at her to shoot a comeback at her, but froze. Jirou was glowing under the light, but she was also radiating… something. Kaminari couldn’t quite place it. Maybe it was just one of the rare times he’d seen her without a guard up or maybe it was her laugh and how it shook him to the core. Maybe it was both.

“Cat got your tongue?” Jirou snickered.

“You’re beautiful.”

Then it was Jirou’s turn to freeze. Kaminari didn’t know why he said it so suddenly, he had been thinking about it for a long time, ever since they first met, but he never had the guts to actually say it.

“I’m being serious, you’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever met. Both on the inside and out. When I first saw you, I was stunned at how pretty you were. And then after we became friends I fell even more in love with you, you’re just as amazing on the inside as you are on the outside,” Kaminari blurted without being able to stop himself. Wait, had he just said he was in love with her?

“You’re drunk, let’s go.” Jirou turned away and started walking again.

“Wait,” Kaminari grabbed her wrist, “I may be drunk, but I’m telling the truth. I’ve been thinking all of these things for a really long time but I never knew how to say them. Maybe that’s why I’m saying it now, because if you say you don’t feel the same I can just blame it on the alcohol.”

“Pikachu… how could I not feel the same about you? You’re the nicest person I’ve ever met, and you’re willing to do anything for your friends. How could I not love you for that and everything else you are?”

Kaminari gaped at her. “So… you feel the same?”

“No, I just said that I loved you but no I don’t feel the same,” Jirou laughed.

Kaminari laughed and rubbed his neck, embarrassed.

“Can I kiss you?” he asked.

Jirou was quiet for a second, “Just once, and if you don’t remember any of this tomorrow, I’ll kill you.”

Kaminari grinned and pulled her towards him, leaning down and placing his lips over hers.
