Chapter Text
"I can't help it, you look adorable when you rant about like there's no tomorrow. Asking all these questions about me, yourself, how I work, how you work, and so on!"
Izuku could feel his quirk's large hand roam through his tangled curls once again, he started to get agitated again. This was getting him nowhere, no matter how many questions he asks they always get turned down or even get an answer so incoherent that he has to ask even more questions. It was like Izuku was walking in circles, he's trying to reach a destination but he was completely lost.
Izuku raised his hands again, ready to sign another question before he was brought into a hug. It wasn't like the suffocating grasp his quirk had forced onto him like many times before, it was like a comforting embrace that felt like it was coming from someone he trusted. Someone he knew to go to when he felt like he was at a loss, the kind of loss that made him so empty that the comfort of someone or something he loved could only fill that void.
Izuku didn't know what to do, the sudden action gave him such a shock that the only thing that got him out of it was the rumble of his quirk's chest. Izuku looked up at the darkening mist that covered his quirk's face, it fluttered about like it was hair floating on water. Its smile did not falter, its teeth were barely shown as it let out a soft sigh.
"You don't know how long I've waited to meet you, Izuku."
His quirk said with a soft voice.
"I've been hidden away for so long, waiting for you to finally break away the seal that has been keeping me at bay. I was just stuck here, all alone; the only thing I knew was your name and nothing more. It nearly drove me mad to have to know nothing but your name from within this dreamscape, it was like this place was my own personal Hell."
Izuku felt his quirk pull him closer, not in a suffocating way like before, but just gently put his head on its chest. Strangely enough, Izuku could hear a heartbeat far off into his quirks chest; it beat faster than it should have. Irregular beats pumping in and out in an upbeat rhythm that somehow worried Izuku about his quirk's wellbeing.
Strange that he could feel this worry about the quirk that haunted him so with confusing answers and ominous remarks about people's quirks.
His quirk gave another sigh, prompting itself to sit down and brought Izuku down with him. The teenager hastily struggled in the sudden fall before he was laid across his quirk, strong arms wrapped around him in a tense hold. Izuku didn't have any other choice but to lay on his quirk like a blanket, curling up to make himself comfortable before his time would end in this dreamscape.
"But now you're here, with me, and with time ticking away it feels like a cruel joke was placed on me in the form of a sick and twisted punishment."
He felt his quirk's large hand go through his curls again, this time Izuku didn't move them or tell his quirk to stop. Instead, Izuku let the hand graze through his green locks and let himself relax, at least for the time being that is.
"I never want to let you go, Izuku, but this world is cruel. It feeds on the pain and suffering that both you and I experience in our lives and revels in it like how you and I revel in getting a new quirk."
The air started to shift, Izuku paid no mind as he buried his face into his quirk's chest. He could hear the heartbeat from within his quirk shift in pace, it was rapid now, it sounded like a beating drum against its chest.
Was his quirk scared or angry that its time was up?
The arms around Izuku tightened their hold, Izuku braced himself as the wind started to blow everything away like sand. His quirk was being blown away by the second, however, it did not stop its crushing hold on the teenager. It kept its hold as long as it could, Izuku only beginning to lose his sense of touch when only the top half of his quirk was available for him to see.
It said something else before its entire form was blown away into the abyss, something that Izuku couldn't understand until he woke up. It took him a few minutes, racking his brain and excessively writing down on his notebook to guess what his quirk had finally said to him.
Until it finally hit him.
'But I'll find a way to make sure this world is fair only to you and me but now we must wait.’
Izuku didn't rush like he usually did to get ready for school, he took his time getting himself together as well as eating his breakfast as politely as he could. His mother simply kissed him on his cheek, telling him like she always did that she loved him and she wished him the best of luck in school today.
Izuku took that to heart and went to school where Oshiro Michio and Chiba lwao each stood by his side and led him to his classroom.
