Chapter Text
Izuku
Izuku always hated this part. Going to a new school and having to basically start a whole new life with a whole new set of people and social hierarchy sucked, but this part was the worst. Sitting in the uncomfortable councilors office as they drawled on and on about the same stuff from every school that he already knew.
But this time was different.
He knew that it would be different when he walked into Miss. Kayama’s office and recognized the woman from the author photo printed on the back of his mother's smutty romance novels.
Nemuri Kayama was not only his school councilor but also the author of the “After Midnight” book series that he had seen his mother reading while trying to hide the fact that she read those types of books from him and his step-dad.
How was a smut romance author allowed to work in a high school anyways?
“So Izuku Midoriya was it? You’re Toshinori Yagi’s kid right?” she asked as she looked up from her laptop where she was no doubt writing another one of her racy books she was so proud of if them being on display in the office was anything to go off of.
“He’s my step-dad yeah...he’s the reason we move around so much I-”
“Army Brat. Been to nine schools in ten years, yeah. I read your file. Looks like you were originally from here. Good to have you back.” she said seemingly genuine in the introduction which was not what he had been expecting at all.
“UA is just like any other school. So, you should be able to find your way around the social hierarchy full of shit-for-brains ass wipes that you are so used to no problem.” Izuku’s eyes where the size of globes at hearing a school official speak so openly like that.
“I- am I in the right place?” he could not believe that this was actually happening. She shook her head and he almost breathed a sigh of relief until she kept talking. “Not any more. I have a delinquent to see and a novel to write. Mr. Iida should be waiting out there to show you around.” she practically shooed him out.
When he turned to leave he came face to face with the scariest looking blonde he had ever seen in his entire life. But before he could look away he noticed something and he almost didn’t believe it until the bored look on the boys face turned to a vicious sneer when he saw the boy with the green hair before him.
“Kacchan?”
“Deku!?”
So, god hated him, wonderful.
“Oh, so you two are friends?” Kayama asked looking back up from her laptop.
“We were friends as kids-”
“WE ARE NOT FUCKING FRIENDS-”
“If you two are going to kill each other please do it outside.” the woman warned as she eyed up the two teenage boys. Izuku didn’t need to be told twice as he saw the chance for escape and took it.
He hadn’t seen Katsuki Bakugou since they were children. The blonde had hated him then, and apparently, hated him now. He can’t even remember what he did to make the other boy hate him as children, so the animosity always seemed rather unfair.
On one hand, he already knew someone he went to school with.
On the other that one person would probably rip him in half given the chance.
If he had been anymore worried about not getting his ass beat on his first day and any less aware of his surroundings he would have walked directly into a tall guy with glasses. “Oh my apologize I didn’t see you there!” he said as he stepped out of the way. He was huge. He looked like he could kick Izuku’s ass without even trying.
Jesus what are they feeding these people out here?
Izuku shook his head. “No you are okay I don’t know my way around, I was bound to run into someone eventually.” he said still glancing back at the way he had came and being relieved to see that Katsuki hadn’t followed him out to kick his ass.
“Oh! You wouldn’t happen to be the new student Izuku Midoriya would you?” he asked enthusiastically. Izuku looked over to the goddamn giant standing in front of him. “Uh...Guilty?” he said awkwardly. He internally cringed at himself. He felt like he was asking to get his ass kicked. And this dude was clearly more than capable of doing just that. Then guy in front of him did something more than unexpected.
He bowed. What world was he in? “My name is Tenya Iida and I was instructed by Miss. Kayama to show you around.” he said before straitening up again. “Oh uh...hi?” he felt completely unaware of what to do or say in this situation. Its not like he could go ‘Hey sorry I am acting weird. I just saw my old childhood best friend in there and I was convinced he was going to snap me in half and then I came out and then I saw you and kind of thought you were going to do the same thing since you are twice my size.’ People don’t do that.
Luckily, Tenya saved him from having to say anything that would embarrass him. “Did you get a copy of your schedule yet? That way I can show you where to go and a little about all of our wonderful teachers here at UA high school.”
Izuku handed the other boy the sheet of paper and they were off in direction of the west end of the building heading towards a Mr. Kan’s class. “We have many diverse social groups here on campus so I'm sure you will find somewhere to fit in.” Tenya said as he broke into a brisk walk that Izuku almost had to jog to keep up with.
“We have the traditional band kids.” he said and motioned to a girl with big eyes and long green hair carrying a tuba. “And...unconventional band kids.” he said and cast his eyes to a group of boys standing around a girl with short dark hair who looked like she was going to hit the blonde guy next to her with her guitar. He picked up that Tenya meant they were a band band due to all of their instruments and intimidating aura.
“We have the student body.” he pointed to a group of kids all wearing the same jacket with their school logo on it. “I’m Senior class Vice President. Momo Yaoyorozu is out sick today but she is the Senior class President.” he turned and started walking towards the group sat around a table talking. “Hello everyone.” he said and got some unenthusiastic ‘hello’s in return, and also a few sneers. “Get lost Iida.” a smug looking blonde said. “Neito could we please be civi-”
“I said get lost.” The blonde cut in again. Tenya huffed before turning back to Izuku and continuing on with the objective at hand. “Don’t mind our Treasurer Neito Monoma, he isn’t on the best of terms with anyone.”
Izuku nodded in pretend understanding. He turned his attention back down the quad and could feel his breath get caught in his throat when he saw her. She was unlike anyone he had ever seen. Curly pink hair, golden eyes, rosy skin. He could see the tightly corded muscle of her biceps and he could feel his face grow hot. She was radiant. “What group is she in?” he asked as she watched the girl pass right by him. They locked eyes briefly and she gave him a soft innocent smile and it made his brain feel like mush as he smiled back at her. She was in shorts and a halter top that absolutely should have gotten her dress coded but she didn’t seem to care. He could hear Tenya give and exasperated sigh. “The ‘Don’t even think about it’ group. That is Mina Ashido. She's a sophomore.”
Mina Ashido, a perfect name for a perfect girl. Izuku had seen plenty of beautiful girls in his life. But something about her took his breath away from just one look. He could look at her for hours. “I burn, I pine, I perish.” Izuku said as he looked at the girl longingly. He didn’t need to look at Tenya to know he was rolling his eyes. “You and almost every other guy at this school.” he said before urging Izuku back on the path to his next class.
“Mina is a sweet girl, but the Aizawa sisters aren’t allowed to date.” Izuku hadn’t heard him as all he could think about was that pink mop of curls.
