Chapter Text
It's not uncommon for kids to have heroes, or someone they really looked up to.
The majority of kids looked up at All Might, as one example. Some kids looked up at Endeavor. Some looked up at Hawks or Miruko. And there were many other more heroes kids looked up. Of course some kids looked up to an adult figure, maybe their grandparents, parents, or an older sister or brother. Some may even look up to some fictional character.
However, for 6-year old, foster-child, Yun, the person she looked up to wasn't a hero, an adult figure close to her life, or someone fictional.
The one she looked up to was the furthest thing you could call a hero, he was barely a teen let alone an adult, and Yun was more than confident to say that he was more than just some fictional character dreamt up by someone. After all, despite how scary the whole ordeal had been, he had saved her at her time in need and had never let her go until it was truly safe.
She could still remember the fast-beat of his heart that jumped in terror or in spiked adrenaline, the rare stillness of peace, the warmth of his body as he pressed her close to her in an effort to protect her from that scary rock monster that had stolen her out of the ferris wheel she took refuge in.
Her all-time favorite hero, was a teen named Izuku Midoriya.
Yun had to clamp her hands over her mouth in an effort not to make a sound as she ducked under the bush as soon as her hero's head whipped towards her direction. His bright green eyes full of confusion and wariness as his lips tilted into a worried frown.
"What's wrong?" A tall male with pale golden eyes and feathery brown hair asked, turning to his smaller companion. He then set his eyes to where the greennette was staring at. "Is there something there?"
[Hirota Yamaoka ; Quirk - Persuasion. Allows Hirota to have a certain amount of influence over his victims when they are in the right mindset. When stressed, Hirota can turn his Persuasion into Command, which in turn allows him to fully control another person]
"I... No, I think." The curly-haired greenette with vivid emerald eyes and freckles murmured, turning towards his companion with a smile. "It's probably just my imagination. Come on, we should hurry to classes before we're late!"
[Izuku Midoriya ; Quirk - Quirkless .]
Though Yun wanted so badly to follow after them, more specifically Izuku, she had to restrict herself. The last thing she wanted was to get in trouble with her idol, and so for today she would have to stop her stalking for today. Though she couldn't stop the small huff of disappointment as she watched her hero move further and further away until he was just a small speck. With another sigh, Yun pressed her fingers together and teleport nearby her Elementary School.

Compared to her more colorful and unique looking classmates, Yun was happy to stay inconspicuous with her mud-brown hair and dark brown eyes and small and skinny body. Even if it meant being friendless for being so plain and boring, she didn't mind so much as it meant keeping to herself... Though there had been a strange new change ever since the amusement park incident, and suddenly the class outcast, Kana Teshima, seemed to be paying more attention to her... Or more specifically, was staying near her, most likely because out of everyone in the school, she was the only one Kana could tolerate. Yun had been the closest thing to a friend Kana could call as a friend. And she was also the closest thing she could call a friend when it had been revealed she had a very powerful, and very rare quirk.
Especially with the shift of her suddenly becoming the most unwanted person in the school to the most popular, all because of her god-given quirk that could heal anything as their teacher had slipped out once she started praising Kana on the day she returned to school.
Yun had been sure that Kana would enjoy positive attention, but said positive attention just served to make the scary Kana angrier to the point that she lashed out at her teacher and classmates now clamoring for her attention and favor.
"Now that I actually have a quirk, a quirk you see as a gift from God or whatever, now you think I'm worth something?! After all this time?!" Kana's face was red with angry exertion, huffing and panting at her outburst as she glared at everyone with an evil, burning eye. "Oh why don't you all go to Hell!"
Usually an outburst like that would result with the teacher sending Kana to the principal's office. But that was before, and with Kana's new status of having a better quirk than all of them, the teacher could only look sheepish away. Kana gritted her teeth.
Then with no one having the guts to stop the enraged girl, Kana left for home and never returned for the day.
Her outburst had certainly scared a few off, but there were those that were stubborn enough trying to get to know the new Kana.
[Kana Teshima ; Quirk - Phoenix Tears. Allows Kana to miraculously bring someone grievously injured back to full recovery]
"Hey Yun, we're going to be partners for this project." Kana grumbled, leaving no room for protest. Then realizing her tone, Kana whispered an apology. "I-If you don't mind... Please."
Yun didn't mind it at all, actually. Since she was technically friendless and didn't know any of her classmates as well as she liked to. So she was in no position to argue. She smiled at Kana in agreement. The other returned the smile as well, if a little small and weak.
"Then we'll meet at my place right after school then."
"...Eh?"
Apparently Kana had been serious about her threat of bringing her to her house right after school. Before she even had the chance to, Kana had grabbed her wrist, warned her silently not to just teleport out on her, and tugged her along home. Yun just gulped, shrinking at all the stares directed at them as Kana tugged her home.
"Just ignore them," Kana huffed, glaring at all of the others with an evil eye, making them shrink back. Now that Kana had found some new confidence in herself and her quirk, it made her a lot more intimidating when she had just been the quirkless, smart girl with an evil eye but no voice. This new Kana... Was a lot more vocal than Yun ever remembered her being. A lot more foul-mouthed too. "Since I'm a celebrity, I can do whatever I want I guess. And I want to ignore them."
While Yun wasn't the most up-to-date girl there was, she knew that Kana's ascension to practical Godhood by everyone around her due to her miraculous healing quirk instantly made her better than anyone else in the school... But trying to earn her favor was like trying to fish gold out of the sea... It was possible, but the chance of it ever happening was almost next to nothing. And now that Kana was well aware of her peers and her teacher's intention, gaining her favor was just impossible. Kana didn't strike her as someone forgiving.
Still, being stared at made Yun uncomfortable. Even with Kana's rough reassurance.
Arriving to her home made Yun feel even more nerve wrecking, even more so when she first arrived to her first foster home a few years ago.
Kana's home was two-stories. Though very plain and had a few weeds sprouting from here and there, it was a pretty big place. Bigger than the home she was staying in with it's three rooms and a much bigger yard and no doubt bigger backyard. Kana strutted through the yard with Yun following meekly behind, peering around curiously.
The inside of the home was silent, almost scarily quiet. Already Yun was beginning to notice the vast difference between she and Kana.
Whereas Kana would toe off her shoes and place it almost messily in the center, Yun would always carefully slide hers off and stash it in the corner, almost hiding it in order to avoid her only pair of shoes from being trampled. Whereas Yun's home was always filled with noise, Kana's home was so silent that you could no doubt hear a needle drop from the second floor. Then there was the fact that Yun's home had a lot of clutter but was still clean, while Kana's home looked almost empty with a little bit of smudges of dirt here and there that Yun's sharp eyes caught.
"The kitchen's this way," Kana called, catching Yun's attention.
Together the two journeyed to the empty kitchen where there were several dirty plates stacked up by the side. Yun itched to just wash them up and store them away before bothersome ants came. Kana caught her look.
"As you can see, I live here mostly alone." The pinkette explained, placing her bag on top of the kitchen table. Yun placed her bag on her lap as she sat across from her. "I know my house isn't as clean as you want, but just make yourself comfortable. We're going to be working together after all, unless you want to work on it at your home."
"N-No, this is fine." She protested softly, then placed her bag by her side. "My- My home is a little more smaller than yours, and it's loud there too. S-So... W-What are we doing first?"
You don't watch your hero long enough without learning a few things about them, or about their friends. Despite how well she hid, Yun was pretty sure that the red-head that sometimes accompanied Izuku to the convenient stores knew that she was there. It was most likely a quirk of his and Yun was wary of him. At any moment the red-head could warn her hero that she had been stalking them.
Little did she know, said red-head just found her attempts funny and even a little adorable, especially since he could feel her intentions.
[Hiro Tokande ; Quirk - Detection. Hiro has the ability to sense any sentient beings around them in a certain radius. Hiro also has the ability to perceive a person's emotions within in radius, especially strong emotions. He can also have a slight fuzzy view of their person.]
"Hiro?" Izuku questioned, looking at the red-head who just grinned at him.
"Nah, just saw something cute." Hiro chuckled, glancing behind them real quickly before returning to his previous conversation with Izuku. Not at all worried about the little fan girl that Izuku acquired.
Despite Izuku's change in Class 1-C, growing more confident in himself and growing more confident in their friendship, it wouldn't be a bad thing to have even more to bolster Izuku's confidence. And what better way to boost confidence than through an adorable little fangirl?
Sure having a little girl following them was weird and the amount of stalking she did was more than a little worrying. While Hiro couldn't hang out with Izuku every day, the time he did spent with him ever since the amusement park incident he never failed to notice the little girl following them, even if just for a few minutes before suddenly disappearing right out of his radar.
A teleportation quirk, hm? As useful as it was, she should be careful otherwise she would get in trouble with the police. Hiro doubted he had enough influence to bully them around now, he had mostly exhausted it using it to keep the media away and making sure the police didn't bring his more able-bodied and healthy classmates down to the police station. Just because they looked healthy didn't mean they were traumatized by what they had witnessed during that god-forsaken bloody moment. Hiro himself had trouble shaking off that disturbing moment.
Quickly he pushed those thoughts away when he sensed the little girl disappearing to somewhere. He gave a small smile in amusement.
Though he had to wonder why exactly the little girl felt familiar to him.
"For a small girl, you sure do eat a lot." Kana grinned at her tentative new friend, Yun, who gave her a shy, small smile. Smudges of fudge ice cream decorating the corner of her lips, which she quickly licked away. "Do you have to fight over desserts with the other kids in your home?"
"Usually they make sure we get equal amounts so we don't fight, but sometimes when there are more then they planned for, it's like an all out war. We even use our quirks if we're desperate enough."
The times they do use their quirks were hilarious, even when they were punished with no dessert for abusing their quirks for a week. Despite how careful Yun was with her things and herself, always keeping out of the way to make sure she wasn't a burden, the amount of times she used her quirk often had her being punished with no desserts for weeks on end. So when Kana had announced that they were going to build a replica of the golden gate bridge out of popsicle sticks for their history project, Yun had been all in for it.
Anything with something sweet was usually enough for her to get her motivated.
As the girls finished eating their popsicles, they made sure they were thoroughly washed before painting them a bright fire-hydrant red.
"It sounds like you have a pretty busy home," Kana prodded, eager to hear more about Yun's exciting home life.
Yun shrugged. "Yeah, it can get pretty busy. And very loud. The little kids are always fighting or getting into trouble if you don't keep a close eye on them, and one of the bigger kids like to sneak out whenever they can, especially during the night. He comes home smelling like alcohol sometimes, but the adults never really mind."
"Alcohol? He doesn't do... Anything weird, does he?"
"He just gets very huggy. I remember this one time when he came back home late at night through the window, he just hugged me very tight and told me I was the best little sister ever for never telling on him before falling asleep on my bed. I remember because he snored so loud that I couldn't go to sleep, and his snoring woke up all the other girls and the baby. That was also the very first time I saw our foster Mom get so mad."
"I'd probably get mad too." Kana huffed.
The week they were working together away from the eyes of the public had smoothed and strengthened their tentative relationship to where they could confidently call each other friends. Their new dynamic was easily noted by most of the school now to the point that putting Kana right next to Yun was the only way to get the pinkette to even comply and listen to anything to the teacher would ask. Kana was also much more approachable with Yun next to her, but it was still like trying to approach a rabid dog.
And just like vice versa, Yun was becoming more confident. Not quite the aggressive confidence Kana exuded, but confident enough to not just be pushed around. Especially by the kids who were now clamoring towards her attention to get closer to Kana. She was more comfortable saying no now than before at least.
"Kana? Are you home? "A familiar voice asked as the front door clicked with a soft shut. Then a ravenette with a red streak poked her head into the kitchen, and she smiled at the sight of the two working girls. "Hello Yun."
[Kotone Uno ; Quirk - Live Lyrics ; Kotone has the ability to bring songs to life and use them in offensive and defensive strategies. Requires full lyrics and massive amounts of energy]
"Hey Kotone!" "H-Hello!"
"I hope you girls aren't too busy for an early dinner today?"
"It's almost dinner?" Kana questioned, looking up the clock to see it was now almost 5. Kana pursed her lips. "Are your parents going somewhere?"
"Both of them have a business trip and they need to get on the plan by 8. They wanted to have dinner before they leave. So are you two up for it?"
"U-Um... T-That's okay-"
"You're coming." Kana said stubbornly.
Yun pouted, already knowing the outcome even if she had refused. This was hardly the first time Kana had dragged her to have dinner with her pseudo-family/neighbors, and she doubted this would be the last.
But she couldn't help but be happy to be included anyway.
"Hi hi!"
"Um... Hi?" Yun squeaked, staring at the excitable ravenette grinning widely behind her. Yun had no doubt that behind her oversized sunglasses, her eyes were shining happily at her.
[Hanae Ichirou - Quirk ; Memory Drive - Allows Hanae to dive into a person's memory through eye contact. When Hanae stares into a person's eye for more than 5 minutes, she can hypnotize someone to do her bidding]
"Yun, this is Hanae Ichirou. A... Friend of mine, I guess." Kana said, almost shyly as she introduced the bouncy ravenette to Yun. "She's Kotone's classmate's little sister. We met during a party. And this is Shuji Tashiro, another of Kotone's classmate's little brother. We also met at the same party."
The willowy boy with very short hair looked up to her and nodded silently, to which Yun returned with the same shy energy.
[Shuji Tashiro - Quirk ; Sense Change - Allows Shuji to change a person's temperature, sensitivity, hearing, smell, taste, and sight. However, Shuji can at most affect 6 people at a time with different senses each, or one person with all of their senses affected. He can not affect two people with the same sense change]
"Anyway, what are you two even doing here. And how did you even find my home?"
"I ask Nao-nii, and he asked Kotone-nee, and that's how I got here!" Hanae chirped, her smile widening. "That's how I also found Shuji! And since he was closer, I decided to drag him over here! Now we can all play together!"
Kana huffed. "We have to practice for our presentation, we don't have time to play!"
Instead of being put out by that, Hanae brightened up as she raised her hand high.
"Oh! Oh! Shuji and I can be your audience! Then we can have fun after that!"
"I don't want to play!"
"Then can I just go home...?"
Yun had thought that Kana was pushy, but Hanae somehow got her way in the end. An hour of presenting the history and importance of the Golden Gate Bridge and fixing parts of their presentation underneath Shuji's helpful suggestions, and soon the four of them were running around the house playing a rather exciting game of hide-n-seek. Not even Kana couldn't stop her shriek of laughter when Shuji had been able to find her hiding underneath a pile of blankets in the closet.
At the end of the day, Yun was happy to say that she found two more people she would happily call a friend.
U.A was a very big school, much bigger than Yun had thought it would be when she worked up enough courage to follow her hero to the school he attended. The giant walls that surrounded the largest hero school in the world intimidated Yun, as it was suppose to do for any other. But for someone who was 6-years old, and very small at her age, the walls practically dwarfed her tiny person.
Though her size and very silent presence was working in her favor when she realized that there wasn't exactly much foliage or any other large obstacle for her to hide behind. The best she could do was hide behind a large, beastly looking student who had yet to notice her using his larger body to hide.
She nearly squeaked when a blond-haired boy approached the one she was shadowing, but fortunately he didn't seem to notice her presence. The teen was busy staring at Izuku and his friends who were hanging just outside of the gate before entering the school grounds.
"Hmp, Class 1-C huh? For a bunch of failures who couldn't pass the entrance exam, they sure are gaining attention." Though Yun couldn't see, she couldn't help but sweatdrop as the weird blond started laughing rather maniacally, and she inched away from the wierdo. "Well, they may not be in the hero class, as long as they're taking the attention away from 1-A then I suppose they're okay in my books! Hahahaha!"
"...But aren't they taking the attention away from us too?"
Whether the weird blond heard it or not, no one was sure as he continued laughing, earning strange looks from everyone around them.
"Aww! What a cute kid!" Came a cooing voice, and Yun tensed.
Whipping her head she saw a pretty orange-haired girl running towards their way, her eyes trained on her with a smile curling up on her lips.
With a quiet squeak she pressed her fingers together and disappeared without another word.
"Kid? What kid?" The blond asked, frowning as he turned his head in search of the kid. "What are you taking about Kendo?"
"But..." Kendo stared intensely at the spot where she swore she saw the pretty cute little girl that was sticking close behind Shishida. "I could've sworn... Shishida, do you have a little sister?"
"Yes, I do," The large student nodded, then frowned thoughtfully. "But I can assure you, Miss Kendo, that my little sisters should be in school by now. They have no reason to follow me all the way out here."
A frown still decorated Kendo's lips as she wondered if her tired ind just imagined a little girl being there. Soon it was all forgotten when Monoma started his tirade as soon as his eyes landed on one of Class 1-A's exhausted students and started berating at how sloppily dressed he look.
"I should be heading home now," Shuji interjected, picking up his school bag. "I still have homework to do, and Ayumi-nee-chan needs my help." With a smile, he puffed up his chest. "Ayumi-nee-chan says that I'm a better cook than all of my siblings!"
Yes, one time over at the Tashiro household and it became very clear to the non-Tashiro members that no one but Ayumi was allowed near anything flammable and sharp. Or the kitchen in general. Yun still wasn't sure how the eldest Tashiro did it, but she had somehow melted the oven. That had certainly been a field day for everyone and the local fire department involved, who was still wondering what exactly you had to do to melt an oven without a fire quirk or a flamethrower being used. It was also a one time deal breaker for Kana who never wanted to come by Shuji's home again, who had apparently banked on one of his siblings to do something stupid that would prevent his friends to ever come over to his home with the way he grinned in success at Kana's loud proclamation.
So for Shuji to say that he had the ability to cook and was allowed to use the kitchen and gain Ayumi's endorsement was truly a miracle within the Tashiro family.
"Aww, but it's not even dark yet!" Hanae whined, pouting as she crossed her arms petulantly. "Can't we play one more game?"
"Don't you also need to go home too?" Kana pointed out. "I remember you saying that you're behind on some of your homework."
"W-Well... I don't need to do them right now..."
"Just go home, we have homework to do too."
Hanae pouted, though with some persuasion and pushing they eventually left with one boisterously waving goodbye and the other already leaving with a more normal farewell. This left Yun and Kana alone.
The pinkette gave a heavy sigh, and though Yun knew Kana wouldn't admit it, she could tell the other had a fun day today.
Today was supposed tob e just another, slightly crazy day whenever Hanae was involved. They had expected for her usual shenanigans, and then head on home to finish their own work, then Yun would teleport near her home to finish the day off.
Never had they expected to bump into a white-haired little girl with fearful red eyes, wearing what looked like a hospital gown, and long strips of bandages wrapped around her arms and her legs. She stared at them, shaking like a leaf.
"P-Please..." The terrified girl whimpered, tears pooling in her wide eyes. "H-Help me."
