Chapter Text
Tele mindlessly gripped her hands tightly in her lap for the last hour of the plane ride, nerves escalating as the flight came closer to its destination. Her sedative had worn off, and she was terrified of what would happen if she couldn’t control her quirk. If she was honest, she would also admit that she was fearful of starting her new life at UA Highschool. Everyone else had been there for months, but she had been...busy. As the plane landed, she avoided looking out the window, attempting to keep herself calm while flexing her fingers to rid herself of the pain now radiating from them.
As she left her plane and began to look for her suitcase at the baggage pick up, she saw a man she recognized from the virtual calls she had with UA, Mr. Aizawa. He stood back from the luggage carousel, taller than Tele thought he would be, and slightly menacing. She recognized his exhausted appearance and scarf that she had learned he used as a capture tool. He was a part of the reason she was leaving the States and coming to Japan. With his quirk, he would be able to keep Tele from losing control. Tele tentatively approached him with a little wave of her hand. “Hello, Mr. Aizawa, I’m Tele. I think you’re here for me…” He looked down at her with his black eyes, either tired or annoyed, maybe both. Tele cringed as he responded simply, “Yes. Follow me.”
After loading her luggage into the back of the car, Tele was directed to sit in the back seat for the ride to the school. She pulled out her phone in order to try to keep her nerves calm. Mr. Aizawa had not spoken to her since the ride started, and she was sure it was because of her stupid introduction. Seriously Tele, what the hell is the matter with you? Could you be any less hero-like, any more idiot-like? He’s probably already annoyed with me. I am sure he is not excited about introducing a new student to his homeroom. And on a Sunday, of all days. I am such a moron.
Aizawa looked in the rearview mirror, watching the lavender-haired girl closely. He noted that she had long hair, longer than it seemed when he spoke to her over the computer. It was similar in color to her mother’s, but her eyes were like ones he’d never seen before. The irises were light pink, with a thin, dark blue outline. He remembered from their calls that her eyes were often white, but changed color because of her quirk. She had a long flight, and although he was aware that she must have slept through most of it due to the sedatives she had to take, she looked exhausted, maybe more than himself. She wore a simple black shirt and pair of dark-colored jeans, a different look than many of his UA students. It made it obvious she was American, that’s for sure. Her short legs jumped up and down, occasionally bumping the back of his seat, as she watched the scenery pass. She was obviously nervous, which made Aizawa on edge. “Tele,” he said, grabbing her attention.
Tele realized she had just bumped Mr. Aizawa’s seat with her stupid jumpy legs. Her head snapped up when he said her name, realizing her hair had begun floating. “So sorry, Mr. Aizawa,” she replied. He studied her in the rearview mirror again, noting that her eyes had begun changing into a deeper shade of pink, stating, “I am not concerned with that. Are you nervous? Can you handle your quirk currently, or am I needed now?” Tele attempted to control her breathing and assured him that she was okay. “I would prefer that the car not begin floating over the other vehicles,” he responded. Tele nodded in agreement continuing to try to call herself down.
“Maybe it would be a good idea to have you use your quirk when we get to the dorm?” she mumbled as she tried to keep her knees from bouncing all over. “I’d rather not meet my new classmates and start floating…” she trailed off.
Aizawa simply nodded in understanding. He thought, I need to reassure her otherwise this will not start well. If only All Might hadn’t gotten me into this situation. He never seems to be able to say no, though, especially when it is viewed as a chance to save someone. Quietly, as he pulled into UA, he said, “Tele, we will figure this out for you. I promise I will do my best in continuing your training and helping you control your quirk. All of the staff at UA will.” Tele looked down and nodded her head slightly in silence.
