Chapter Text
Varuna smoothed their silvery hair behind their horns and back into a bun. They looked in the mirror and breathed a short sigh. Duty to the empire left much to be desired when it came to fashion. A stiff grey uniform, hastily thrown on and tucked into tall boots. A multicolored pin, denoting a rank Varuna didn’t care enough to know, was affixed to their chest.
Everything carefully set aside and designed to blend in.
Varuna’s com buzzed, [Message from Kaeda], and was quickly ignored as they strapped a discreet black lightsaber hilt to their belt, and pushed through the door.
The hallway of the Imperial was quiet. Varuna had had to learn new troop rotations for everywhere they stayed, and it always paid off eventually. There was nothing to be seen or heard of, save for a gonk droid bumbling around in the distance. It was a quick walk to the elevator. Varuna pressed for the main hangar and waited.
The quiet morning was interrupted a few floors down, when two officers entered, crowding the elevator. Varuna nodded in greeting, giving an effort not to be too out of place.
It wasn’t long before their com buzzed again. [Message from Kaeda]. And again [Call from Kaeda] echoing slightly off the metal walls. One officer turned to look, then the other. Varuna’s mind wandered impulsively- how much would the empire really miss two low ranking no names?
“Uh, it’s classified” mumbled Varuna hoping not to cause trouble.
An officer shrugged awkwardly, and the com continued to buzz… all the way down to the hangar bay.
After waiting for the officers to clear out, Varuna stepped around a corner and took the call- and was immediately met with a screech of feedback.
Kaeda. Varuna had just stumbled into their less than subtle partner in crime. The sound blaring from both coms sent them recoiling back. Kaeda grimaced and cursed to herself before straightening up again.
“Glad to see you’re finally here.” She said through bared teeth. People were beginning to take notice. Kaeda’s eyes gleamed. “Let’s get off base before we have to cause trouble, huh?”
“Oh because you would just hate that, wouldn’t you?”
