Meeting Wei Ying was like meeting the sun.
It felt warm, his heartbeat was faster than ever and his mind was in chaos for the first time in many years after his mother death. Wei Ying's smile was like an incandescent, dazzling sunshine. He couldn’t bring himself to look apart from the view.
He tried to make those feelings disappear, but they didn’t go, no matter how hard he tried, they stayed and accompanied him during long and tiring years, when he could only watch how his sunshine was losing his brightness until he left him alone with a kid and the horrible feeling of being dead alive, not warm anymore. He knew he could have saved him, protected him and shown that he was loved, that he had someone to trust and lean on. He knew that nothing was his fault, but he could have done more.
However, meeting again with Wei Ying was like touching the sun.
The memories and the feelings felt like a burn. Those thirteen years without him quickly burned away, as if they had never existed. Tears in his eyes, a heartbeat as fast as the first time and the warm feeling welcomed Lan Wangji.
He was back. Lan Wangji’s life was printed with so many colors that he couldn’t believe how was possible living without him. Being able to travel with him was one of the most valuable experiences to him. He knew he couldn’t mess up this time. Life gave him another opportunity to be happy and even if Wei Ying hadn’t returned his feelings, Lan Wangji would have been very happy just helping him to clear his past. Even though he had said those words to Wei Ying himself, hearing from those pink and beautiful lips that he, the expressionless Lan Wangji, was loved by someone as bright as his Wei Ying was the best joy of his life.
The day of his wedding he had been so nervous that, for the first time in his entire life, he thought he could throw up his whole stomach. His hands were trembling when they reached Wei Ying’s. When Lan Wangji removed the covering veil and saw Wei Ying’s blooming smile, heat rose to his lobes and he couldn’t bring himself to suppress the smile that was blooming in his face too. He kissed those lips and he knew that the future could only bring him happiness.
Days passed and their lives became a routine that, although it was repetitive, always brought something new to their days. However, if someone asked Lan Wangji which moment of the day was his favorite, he would answer just a word “morning”, no explanation because no one had the need to know why mornings were so perfect, why Lan Wangji always looked happy after leaving de Jinshi in the morning.
Why were Lan Wangji's mornings so specials? The answer was simple.
His husband’s head moved from his arm to his chest, distracting him from his own thoughts. He kissed it softly, smiling at the view of Wei Ying yawning after waking up. Lan Wangji couldn’t understand how was possible to be this happy. He had his Wei Ying, his son, his bunnies, and everything he had dared to desire.
“Lan Zhan?” Wei Ying looked up to him, his hair falling down to his face making him look more beautiful than ever.
“Mn, sleep, Wei Ying” Lan Wangji started to rub Wei Ying’s back, humming softly and waiting for his husband to fall asleep again.
“You won’t leave, right? I want to wake up again with you.”
“Never leaving Wei Ying.”
Years passed and his promised was never broken, he stayed.
