Chapter 1: ʙʟᴜᴇ

Chapter Text

Crash!

The sudden noise rouses Seokjin from what was an extremely peaceful slumber. It doesn't bother him at first, since his boyfriend is naturally clumsy, but the soft sobs that follow cause him to jolt upright. He quickly gets out of the bed and makes his way to the kitchen, and who should he find but the latter, standing by the coffee machine with tears streaming down his cheeks and a smattering of glass shards at his feet.

"What happened, baby?"

"J-Joonie wan'ed make Daddy coffee, s-so picked up th-the pot thingy to get water, and den Joonie dwopped it a-an' it bweaked!"

"Are you hurt?"

Joon shakes his head, sniffling.

"C'mon," the elder extends a hand, giving him a warm smile. "Come sit with me."

"D-Daddy..." mumbles the other, hanging his head. "W-When dwopped it, Joonie h-hab a accident..."

"Aw, sweetheart..." Jin smiles sadly. "It really frightened you, huh? C'mon, let's get you into the bath and see if we can find you some clean clothes, shall we?"

"Nuh wan' bath... Too sad..."

The shorter male pouts jokingly. "But if you don't take a bath, then your duckies will be sad. We can't have sad duckies, can we?"

"No..."

After much persuasion, the blue-haired agrees, shuffling after his caregiver as he continues moping and staring at the floor. Even in his headspace, he knows when he's done something wrong, and since he's already done it twice today, he can't help but feel like an absolute failure. All he does is cause problems and make messes, so he doesn't see why Seokjin acts the way he does. Always so kind, understanding. Yeah, he's firm sometimes, but never angry or unreasonable.

Before he knows it, his eyes are filling with tears again, and a few manage to escape, dripping into the water that surrounds him and creating little ripples as they do.

"Namjoonie? Baby, look at me."

Knowing that Seokjin only calls him 'Namjoonie' when he's worried about him, he reluctantly complies, and the eye contact just causes him to break down.

"Aw, butterfly, it's okay." Jin whispers, completely disregarding the fact that the younger is soaking wet as he hugs him tightly. "You're really not having a good day, are you? I've got you, don't worry. Can you tell me what you're feeling, Joonie?"

"S-Sad, an' angwy."

"Why are you sad?"

"C-Cause Joonie a bad boy... Bweakin' t'ings, makin' mess, dunno why Daddy even cares 'bout me..."

"And why are you angry?"

"Nuh can do anyfin' right!" he pouts. "Just make mess an' make Daddy sad..."

"You don't make me sad." the brunet kisses his forehead. "And you don't just break things and make messes. Yeah, you're a little clumsy, but that's okay. These things happen sometimes, Joonie-ah. Taking care of you makes me all kinds of happy. I'd never want anything different."

"B-But-"

"Shh, don't say anything. Just listen. You're the reason I'm always so happy. You're smart, you're funny, you're adorable, and you always know what to do or say to make me smile."

"H-Hyung, y-you don't mean that..."

"I do, Joonie," Seokjin pecks his lips, using his thumb to wipe away his lover's tears. "Tell you what - you finish up in here, then come meet me in our room and I'll show you how much I love you."

"No, I-I don't wanna have sex..."

"No sex, I promise. I'm just going to show you how much you mean to me."

He pulls back and gives a gentle smile, before standing and leaving the room. It's about 10 or 15 minutes before the younger joins him, clothes folded over his arm and a towel hanging loosely around his hips.

"Didn't feel like getting dressed?"

"No..." Joon mumbles, staring at the ground as he puts the clothes away. "I'm wearing underwear, I just didn't want to get fully dressed."

"Fair enough. I've cleaned up the kitchen, and I don't want you to feel guilty about what happened. Come sit with me and let's talk about it, hm?"

"Actually, could we... lie down and cuddle instead I-It makes me feel safer..."

"Of course, whatever makes you most comfortable."

Once he's finished, he makes his way over to their bed and lies on his side, letting his boyfriend's arms wrap around his waist.

"I guess I just... I feel like there's this massive weight on my chest, and it won't go away. Like it-it gets worse when I break things, and even in my headspace, I'm just so afraid..." he pauses, tangling his fingers in his hair as he exhales shakily and tries to keep himself from bursting into tears again. "Fuck, I'm sorry..."

"It's okay," consoles the brown-haired, pressing a gentle kiss to his bare shoulder. "Take your time."

"I'm so afraid of fucking everything up, losing everything... I like my life. I don't want it all to disappear..." Namjoon looks back, meeting his lover's eyes. "I'm so scared of losing you, hyung. I really don't want that, 'cause you... you make me so happy, and you make me feel special."

"What makes you think I'm gonna leave you?"

"'Cause I'm a failure. Hell, I can't even do something nice for my boyfriend without screwing up."

Seokjin can't help but pull him closer, wanting nothing more than to hold and protect him forever. "You're not a failure, Namjoonie. I've said this before, and I'll say it again - you are the single best thing that has ever happened to me. I love you."

"I-" a sniffle, and the taller's left eye starts to twitch slightly, signalling that he's slipping back into his headspace. "Joonie lubs Daddy too."

"That's it, good boy." the elder praises, stroking his hair. "I'm always gonna be here, doll, you don't have to worry about that."

"A'ways an' fo'eva'?"

"Always and forever."
