The first thing Miyuki notices when he wakes up is that his neck is killing him. Dozing off on the floor, trying to keep up with Kuramochi’s gaming was not a good idea. He groans as he sits up, bones creaking with disuse. He turns his neck from side to side, trying to get rid of the sharp pains that were plaguing him. Something feels off, but he can’t tell exactly what. It clicks as he raises his hand to the bridge of his nose to push up his glasses and meets air. His glasses are missing. All at once, he realises his vision is blurry, and he grumbles, irritation blooming in his mind.
He reaches a hand out for the TV stand as he begins to get up and misses terribly, falling flat on his ass with a resounding thud. Letting out a huff of annoyance, he scrubs a hand over his face, trying, at the very least, to remove the last remnants of sleep from it. He puts one hand out again, slower this time, standing up only when he’s sure he does have a hold on the table. He moves around the room at a snail’s pace, one hand feeling over the flat surfaces, searching for the ever familiar feeling of his spectacles in his hand. He tries, in vain, for about five minutes, before giving up, brows furrowing.
His frown deepens when he realises that Room 5 is unusually quiet, considering the energy and noise levels of the people who occupy it. As the fog of sleep finally clears, he registers that he is alone in the room. Those idiots, he shakes his head, couldn’t even wake me up before heading out for dinner.
Miyuki’s eyesight is bad without glasses, but he is not completely dysfunctional without them, so he eventually (though with a lot of cursing when he bumped into walls) makes it to the dining area. He is immediately bombarded with sound as he walks in, laughter and yelling the norm with this team, even after a long day of practice. Hunger does not help his horrid mood, so he makes quick work of getting food and locating Eijun, who is, radiant as always, the centre of attention at his table. He seems to be excited about something, hands in motion as he narrates his story, nearly knocking a bowl of rice off the table. Miyuki stops for a second, letting himself admire Eijun’s presence, which feels like someone figured out how to store sunshine in a human body. It’s too bright for him sometimes, but that doesn't stop him from always seeking the other out. His heart feels like someone is squeezing it in a vice grip, so he stops and starts walking towards the table.
“Miyuki Kazuya!!! I see you’ve finally woken up from your deep slumber,” Eijun yells as he spots Miyuki, startling the other boy.
Miyuki sets his tray down, his blurry vision making him nearly drop it. He glances in Eijun’s direction, whose eyes are sparkling with mirth, as though he is in on some joke that nobody else knows. Well, at least that’s what he thinks it looks like from what he can make out through his worse than average vision.
“Hello Baka, yes I have,” He goes to pick up his chopsticks, then hesitates, not trusting himself to eat properly without his glasses. “Have you seen my glasses, Sawamura?” he asks.
“Your glasses? Oh you mean, this silly little thing?” The boy pulls out what Miyuki thinks are his glasses, and waves them in front of his face. He looks like he has just played the funniest joke in the world, shoulders shaking with the effort of holding in his laughter. The last of Miyuki’s irritation vanishes as Eijun finally lets himself laugh freely, the sound bubbling out of him. The laughter is like balm to his frayed nerves, and he looks on fondly as Eijun puts the glasses on, expression morphing into a poor but endearing imitation of Miyuki’s usual smirk.
“Hi, my name is Miyuki Kazuya, and I’m the catcher and captain of Seido with a twisted personality,” Eijun says, barely getting through the entire line without laughing. God I love this idiot, Miyuki thinks, heart skipping several beats, as Eijun's laughter fills the room again.
He leans forward, gripping Eijun’s face in one hand as he swipes the glasses with the other, returning them to their rightful place on his nose. As his vision clears, he registers how close their faces are and Eijun is surprisingly quiet, his eyes wide and his cheeks squished by Miyuki’s hand.
I really want to kiss him, he thinks, I really want to kiss him in this dining area that’s full of people because I love him way too much and I don't know what to do with it except kiss him. So he does exactly that. Miyuki leans in and kisses the other boy, not caring that the others are looking at him, because even if such a public gesture was never the norm with Miyuki, nothing about the boy in front of him is normal - not his pitching and not his heart, which always gives and never asks for anything back, and so he must do his best to keep up.
The world rushes in as he pulls back, cheeks heating once he realises everyone is, in fact, staring at them. Eijun is still looking at him in awe, those wide eyes threatening to swallow Miyuki whole.
What breaks the silence is Kuramochi’s shrill laugh. “So when Bakamura steals your glasses, he gets a big fat smooch, but when it’s me you steal my gaming console for a week?” Miyuki lets go of Eijun’s face as everyone laughs, embarrassed at his sudden lapse in control. “Well, Kuramochi, are you jealous?”, he asks, letting his mouth run on auto-pilot, mind still reeling from the kiss.
He doesn’t pay attention to Kuramochi’s indignant squawking, opting instead to steal a glance at Eijun. The boy finally seems to realise that Miyuki had kissed him, oh man, I actually did it, one hand raised to his lips. He looks confused, to say the least, and he also looks like he wants to open his mouth and start a full blown confrontation about WHAT IN THE HELL WAS THAT MIYUKI KAZUYA!!!!!
So, Miyuki shakes his head slightly, a signal, to let the other boy know that they will talk about it, just not while the others are still around, mostly so that he can avoid the embarrassment of letting more than one person know that he has Feelings™. The two boys turn back to their food, devoting their attention to the people around them, and if the others caught them stealing glances at each other the entire time, well, that’s none of their business, is it?

Miyuki straightens as the team starts filtering out of the dining area. Ah shit, guess I have to talk about my “feelings” now. The things I do for this idiot, honestly. He sighs and shifts in his seat, and for all his bravado, he almost loses his nerve when he sees Eijun looking at him like that. Like he doesn’t know exactly what was happening, but it’s alright because Miyuki is here. He doesn’t know what he’s done to earn the other boy’s trust like this but he is absolutely certain he doesn’t deserve it.I hope I don’t fuck this up.
“So,” he begins, hoping Eijun would cut in, with his bulldozer of a personality, breaking down the walls of awkwardness that usually make Miyuki feel like he’s suffocating, but to no avail. Eijun seems to have decided to let his catcher do the heavy lifting, for once. Alright then, he mentally shakes himself, time to go for it.
“It would seem that I lo-, I mean, like you.”
“Like, romantically?”
Miyuki scoffs at that. “Yeah, idiot, romantically.”
Eijun scratches his chin, “I don’t believe you.”
“I understand if this comes as a surprise- wait what?!”
“I said, I don’t believe you, Miyuki Kazuya!”
Miyuki is confused. He doesn’t have much experience with confessing his feelings, but he’s pretty sure “I don’t believe you” is not the usual response. He thought it would be something like “I’m sorry, Miyuki-senpai, but I do not return your feelings,” said with a kind, pitying expression or a punch to his stomach but definitely not this.
“Well,” he pauses, flustered and unsure, “I don’t know how to make you believe me, Baka, but-”
“Maybe you should kiss me again,” Eijun cuts in, his expression morphing into a mischievous grin. “One kiss and a half-hearted confession is hardly enough to convince me, you know?”
Oh, that little shit. His heart was still going at a mile a minute because of that little exchange. “I see you’re having fun at my expense,” he laughs, body filling with warmth because of the other boy. Trust Eijun to turn something that should have been nerve-wracking into something that has Miyuki shaking with laughter. “Alright, Eijun,” he says, taking note of the way the other boy freezes on hearing his first name, huh, I guess he likes that, “Guess I’ll just have to prove myself to you.”
Eijun giggles as Miyuki finally kisses him again, and Miyuki smiles too, not entirely convinced that this isn’t a dream, one where he gets to kiss the boy who feels like the brief patch of sunlight shining down on a cold, winter’s day, like birdsong and flowers blooming in the spring, tiny drops of dew dripping from their dainty petals and every other simile there is for warmth and happiness which he would list out if he wasn’t otherwise occupied
“So,” Miyuki pulls away from Eijun, even though he really, really does not want to. “Does this mean you like me too, or something?”
“Yes, Miyuki Kazuya,” Eijun smiles at him, eyes bright and cheeks warm, “This Sawamura Eijun likes you very, very much!”
His heart soars at that. God this idiot is so adorable. “Okay, that’s good, because as much as I’d like to keep kissing you to prove my point, we need to get out of here before people start getting any ideas. And my neck hurts because you thought it would be funny to let me sleep on the floor,” he says with a smirk.
“Goddamnit, Miyuki Kazuya, I thought we were having a moment!” Eijun yells, but his eyes are fond and Miyuki thinks he could spend a lifetime and more staring into those eyes, the world be damned.

“So, the idiots are dating right?”
“Oh, yeah they are Mochi-senpai,” Haruichi whispers from where he’s crouching behind the door of the dining area.
“Good, I was getting sick of Miyuki going all starry-eyed at Bakamura all the time,” Kuramochi huffs out.
“I don’t think them dating is going to change that Mochi-senpai. In fact, this should only make it worse,” Haruichi laughs.
“Shit, I don’t think I can handle anymore of it.”
“Don’t worry senpai, we’re all here for you.”
“Thanks Haruichi, I’ll need the support.”
