Kids Should Be Allowed To Enjoy Their Youth

Summary:

“From now on, I’ll call you Meiko, and you’ll call me Satoru.” He declares with resolution.

“Huh? Why?” She asks, wondering what mischief he’s up to this time.

“Well...We’re clan kids who are sick of our clans right? So why keep calling each other by our families’ names? We should just stop using them and stick it to the man!” Gojo flips his middle finger as if to further demonstrate his act of rebellion.

The spring of her youth began with that declaration.

Notes:

Hi guys! Before reading, please keep in mind that this story will contain spoilers for both the anime and manga. I plan to divide this fic into 2 parts, part 1 will be set when Meiko and the others were students and part 2 will be in the present.
Lastly, this is actually my first fic ever. All comments are welcome but please be kind! Thank you for reading and enjoy!

Chapter Text

Meiko looks around at her surroundings and back again at the crumpled piece of paper. Anxiety bubbles in her stomach as she comes to accept the reality of her situation. She’s hopelessly lost in one of the world’s largest train stations.

“Heey, isn’t that the new girl?” a loud, almost obnoxious voice rang out among the crowd.

Before she knew it, a strange boy clad in all black clothing was standing before her. Even though he doesn’t seem much older than her, his tall frame towers over her. He wears a wide smirk as he looks her up and down from behind a pair of shades, the sudden intense scrutiny causing Meiko to freeze.

“Hey Suguru, did sensei forget to mention something? She’s not responding to me at all!”

Another boy emerges from the crowd to swiftly jab his friend in the ribs.

“That’s because you’re harassing her in the middle of the station you idiot.” He snaps. However, the feigned annoyance in his voice clearly indicates it’s all part of friendly teasing.

“Please ignore those clowns. You must be Chibana Meiko, correct?” another person squeezes through the bickering teens, this time, a girl stands before Meiko. Her gentle smile chases away Meiko’s trepidation, albeit only a little.

“Um...Yes. And you are?”

“I’m Ieiri Shouko.” The girl’s smile widens. She turns to the boys behind her, who have finally stopped arguing. “And these two are…”

“Hey, I’m Getou Suguru.” The boy with the bun steps forward, wearing a friendly smile that further put Meiko at ease. “Sorry about this guy, he ditched kindergarten when they were teaching manners.” He points to the tall boy in shades.

“Excuse you!” Shades retorts “Sheesh, they’re all bullies.” He gripes to Meiko as if he never intruded on her personal space earlier. Despite his claims however, he quickly recovers and gives Meiko a smirk of his own. “I’m the great Gojo Satoru! And we’re here to greet the newest fellow first year at Tokyo Jujutsu High!”
