“What is it?”
Hwa Pyung’s been staring at that one spot for a while and it’s beginning to worry Choi Yoon.
“Hm?”
Hwa Pyung blinks and looks away from the spot and at his boyfriend.
“What’s there? You’ve been staring for too long.”
Hwa Pyung shakes his head and smiles.
“It’s nothing scary, I promise. I was thinking about whether I should change the colour of our walls.”
“What’s wrong with its current colour?”
“Don’t you think it’s worn out?”
Choi Yoon gets up from the chair he’d been sitting in and joins his boyfriend on the floor.
“I think it’s perfectly fine the way it is. Why do you want to change it?”
“We won’t then.”
“No, no, tell me why you want it changed.”
“It’s embarrassing to say.”
“Come on, I won’t make fun of you. You know this.”
Hwa Pyung slides closer to Choi Yoon and buries his face in his chest. Choi Yoon wraps his arms around his boyfriend’s smaller frame and runs his fingers through his messy hair.
“You know you can tell me anything.”
“I know.”
“So?”
Choi Yoon feels Hwa Pyung’s exhale before he quietly says.
“The whiteness reminds me of my right eye. Whenever I look in the mirror, all I see is that. I grew my hair out to cover it but it doesn’t do much but get in the way.”
“I see.”
Choi Yoon cups Hwa Pyung’s face and lifts it to stare at him. He can see how anxious Hwa Pyung is at having his eye stared at openly and he wishes he could make him feel better. No matter how many times Choi Yoon’s kissed his eyes and told him he doesn’t mind, Hwa Pyung still feels ashamed of what he looks like now. Not the pretty-faced taxi driver anymore, right? He had said the first time they’d had sex. Choi Yoon had stopped to admire Hwa Pyung’s flushed face when the other had said those words, and Choi Yoon’s momentary silence had only made Hwa Pyung feel worse.
Of course Choi Yoon loved every part of his boyfriend and would always love every part. He had made sure to tell Hwa Pyung that and made sure he never hated himself despite the scars he endured fighting Park II Do.
“Will it make you happy repainting the walls?”
“I honestly don’t know.”
“If it makes you feel better, then we’ll repaint. If you’re doing this unconsciously because you think it bothers me, then we’re not repainting.”
Choi Yoon leans forward and kisses Hwa Pyung’s eyes, his nose then his lips.
“I love everything about you, even the things you don’t like. Please, please tell me what I can do to make you understand that.”
Choi Yoon kisses him again and this time Hwa Pyung chases after his lips when he tries to pull away.
“Promise me you’ll stop hating yourself.”
“...”
“Yoon Hwa Pyung, promise me.”
“I promise.”
“And you mean it?”
Hwa Pyung huffs and grabs Choi Yoon’s face.
“Yes I mean it.”
“Good. Now give me a kiss and I’ll make us something to eat.”
Choi Yoon can tell he’s going to do this more than once but he’s well aware of the struggles Hwa Pyung has had to deal with. Choi Yoon is more than prepared to tell Hwa Pyung how much he loves him and will continue to love him, even if he has to do it for the rest of his life.
