It's The Ending That Counts

Summary:

Jo Yi Seo is having a very bad day.

Until, she really, really isn't.

Work Text:

Jo Yi-Seo was having a bad day.

This morning when she had woken up she had realised she had no coffee, and she needed coffee to make her a functioning adult, which meant that she had to reach the office before she could have her regular coffee intake.

Then when she started her car to leave for the office, it didn't start. She didn't know why it did not start and she could not, for the life of her, figure out why it wouldn't. Which meant that she had to hail a taxi that early in the morning, when there were never any taxis.

After that, as soon as she stepped into the IC Inc. building, her heel stuck in the grill and broke off, destroying what were her second favourite pair of pumps.

As if this all wasn't enough, her secretary had started her maternal leave and the new one, while competent, was still slow on the uptake. Which meant no coffee and no new heels were going to be available immediately.

Then in the afternoon, when the day was almost back on track, she came to realise that a meeting scheduled for today was with a sexist, male-chauvinist pig and a contract of Two Billion US Dollars depended upon her ability to tolerate that guy. At least she had Seung-Kwon Oppa with her to put the fear of god into the guy.

As if this wasn't all enough to torment her for one day, she came to know that one of the first locations to combine Jangga Pub and DanBam was sealed away along with the whole street due to illegal drug peddling in the area, leading to a temporary halt in construction.

Fucking hell.

This day could not have been any worse.

Finally, at the end of the workday, she relaxed, confident that no more problems were to be faced immediately, as the day was over. She sighed and made to grab her purse, tired and overworked as she was, she just wanted to go home and relax.

She was so out of it, that she didn't even think of what today was. She was so exhausted, that she had completely forgotten that today was the day her Daepyo-Nim was returning from his business trip to Tokyo.

It had completely skipped her mind.

And she wasn’t someone who forgot things like these.

So it was a surprise when she reached home and instead of darkness that usually greeted her, her doorway was lit with candles all the way.

She was so out of it that she didn't even think it was romantic, instead working up a headache on the thought of cleaning it.

Having not yet realised that her Daepyo-Nim was home and waiting for her, she stepped into her living room, taking her broken shoes off her feet and slumped down on the couch in a way that was both wild and unladylike. Then she proceeded to lean her head back, unable to think of how her house looked like what it looked like.

It was a real surprise when she felt someone pick her stocking clad feet up and resting it at their lap. She looked up and was surprised to see her Daepyo-Nim cradling her feet and about to start what felt surprisingly a foot massage.

She looked up at him and started speaking when she was shushed into silence. He gently looked at her feet, her swollen, sweaty and smelly feet and began massaging it. Really soft and slow and with just the right kind of pressure. He was so effortless with it that she couldn't help but keep looking at him.

He was the best person in the world. She could not help but fall in love with him.

When he looked up at her, he gave her that charming smile he always had on his face.

After a few minutes, or a few hours, she couldn't guess, he put her feet back down and brought out various containers of food in the living room. He started talking. About all sorts of things. About his trip, about the business, about their people, about various restaurants, about life. He kept on talking and for once she listened and listened and listened.

It was nice. He hand fed her sometimes. He poured wine for her. He kept on stacking food in her plate.

It was the best evening she could ever hope for.

After that, he picked her up from the sofa and carried her to her bedroom, gently placing her on the bed, under the covers and fluffed her up till she was covered, shoulder to toe.

And then he did what she hadn't ever expected him to do. He rounded around the bed and sat on the other side, over the covers and leaned over her, petting her head with his fingertips, unfocused but aware at the same time.

He met her gaze and said, “You’ve had a hard time today. Sleep. I’m right here.” And then he smiled again. That soft, charming smile.

She looked at him, and hummed slowly, groaning and moaning, tossing and turning, until her head rested on his lap. Much like that time at the Detective’s house. She looked up at his face to see his face beaming, and unbelieving at her actions. He pinched her nose.

She placed her hand on his arm and slowly slid up to the nape of his neck, and when it reached there, she bent him forward and pushed herself up a little, kissing him gently on the lips.

When she pulled back, it was to his dazed face. Not giving him time to understand or stop her, she quickly said, “I Love You! Good Night!”

And then she cuddled right into his abs, falling asleep comfortably, his chuckle being the last thing she heard.

And all she thought was that she could get used to her bad days ending like this.

She could get used to her Daepyo-Nim being like this.

She could get used to them like this.
