The Star-Crossed Lover

I keep dreaming about weird things. The dream felt so familiar though, it’s like a past memory for me. But there’s no way it happened in my past life, right? In my dream I was a traveler from a land far far away, travelling to a place I don’t even know it exist. The land was blessed by the power of 7 Gods of 7 elements. People use sword and magic, and my sole task in that world is to find my lost brother. It feels real yet I know there’s no way that kind of thing exist. My dream continued as I grow up. Until at one point in my dream I met a beautiful man of my age. He had a silverish blond hair, beautiful teal eyes and he is not an average man. He practiced alchemy, a short thing like chemistry, I believe. But in my dream, I also see myself finally fall as the prey of the darkness. My brother did that, but what can I do about it anyway? And in the last battle, the beautiful man in my dream finally stopped me. But why do I feel sad? Why it felt empty when we finally had to say goodbye?

Lumine woke up from her dream, a weird dream she had since she was young. She had gotten used to the dream but now why she kept dreaming about the beautiful teal eyed man? She kept thinking that for a few minutes until she heard a loud knocking on her door.

“Sister wake up! You’ll be late.” Said the voice, the owner is obviously her twin brother. It’s so nice that they can live only by themselves far from their parents now, she thought.

“Yes, Aether I’m awake. There’s no way I’d missed our first day of college.” Lumine answered. She smiled to herself before she got up from her position. She needed to get ready for today after all.

Ever since I was young, I kept dreaming about a continuous dream that does not make sense at all. But no matter how does not make sense it is, I always sense familiarity in my dream. There’s no way I’m dreaming about my past life, right? I know such thing could never be happened. In my dream, I was an alchemist taught by a greater alchemist. Alchemy does not exist, okay? I dreamt about it anyway. And also, one day a female traveler come to the city-state where I lived. She was in interesting person, I supposed. I was curious in that dream, so I decided to study the girl. I can’t remember her name, but she had a beautiful blonde hair and mesmerizing amber eyes. Yes, I admit that she is indeed beautiful. Long story short, her brother turned her evil. I need to stop her though in that dream, I’m the one who asked her to stop me. An irony indeed. At the end I did that, but it cost us our lives. Every time I have a dream about seeing her dying slowly, my heart always ached. How could that happen?

Albedo woke up after his alarm is ringing so hard. He quickly fetched his phone and looking at what time is it now. He was glad that he is not late yet. He quickly got up from his bed and get ready for college. He can’t believe a year had passed already since the first time he entered the college.

“I can’t let myself get distracted by a dream of a girl, am I?” He mused as he got ready. The weird dream he got really made him think though. What if it’s real? What if the girl did exist somewhere since it seems she appeared more and more in his dream?

Will he find her at last?

Lumine at last made it to her campus. She thought that the place is quite beautiful, at least it did have a beautiful small park for the students to enjoy. She did not regret choosing to study there after all. Right after class, Lumine decided to wander around alone without her brother. She wanted to know how big her campus building is. As she walked, enjoying the view, a familiar figure is walking alone. She frowned, the familiar figure had a silverish blond hair though she couldn’t see his eyes at all.

“He looks like the man in her dream.” She thought. But there’s no way he is real, right?

Her curiosity is at the peak now. She wanted to walk away but instead she is taking a detour so she can see him clearly right in front of her. She ran off to another direction that made her possible to see his face.

And at last, she finally walked toward him. And she realized that he is the man in her dream. She can’t believe it, until the man stopped walking and looking at her. The sense of familiarity for each other appeared just like that. The man seemed to feel the same way as her.

But they decided to walk past each other. The closer they get the more tingling sensation they feel inside they hard got them. And as their shoulder brushed each other when they walked passing through one another, the feeling is getting stronger and it did make them remember their dream.

Lumine remembered how the man asked her to be his subject as their first meeting. Lumine remembered how he wanted to know more of her as in that dream she is a traveler come from another world. She remembered the cold snow that fall in that land, she remembered how the man made her feel warm in the cold of the eternal winter.

And Albedo remembered how he took his interest on her after he heard rumors about her. He remembered how he asked his assistant to asked her to meet her. He remembered how their relationship grew from an alchemist and his subject test to something sweeter. He remembered how he helped her to get used to the eternal winter. He remembered every detail of her.

They stopped again at last. They are now looking at each other’s eyes as if they knew each other. They could not help it but keep staring at each other until the blond-haired man decided to break the silence between them. He is curious, did they really know each other before?

“Ahem… excuse me, had we met before miss?” Albedo asked without any hesitation. He just wanted to know.

“Uhm… well, I don’t think so?” Lumine shook her head. It would be weird if she told him that she knew him from her dream.

“Oh really? I’m sorry if it sounded rude but… I just feel like I met you before. Like in a dream, but we can’t dream of a stranger.” He explained. He hoped that the girl won’t feel uncomfortable by his remarks.

“I heard so too, and I feel like I had met you before as well, like in a dream.” She chuckled softly. This man is really cute, she thought.

“Well, my name is Albedo. Since it’s rude to not introduce myself to you. And yours?” The man smiled gently at her that it made the girl felt a little shy now.

“Mine is Lumine… I don’t think I remembered someone named Albedo but I’m glad to meet you.” The girl also introduced herself. Then they looked at each other’s eyes deeply as if they tried to remember every single thing that happened in their dream.

“I—I’m happy to meet you too, Lumine. Uhm… let’s talk to each other again, I had a class to attend.” Albedo smiled at her.

“Sure, see you again later…”

Their meeting is just a start of their other journey. Months past and now they had shared their stories in their dream to each other. Now they knew that they had met before. They knew that they were lovers before the cruel destiny had to separated them apart. But now that they met in a different life and different circumstances, who knows how fate would bring them in the future.

“If we are meant to be together again, now I won’t give up on you since my brother seemed like he is just another ordinary people.” Lumine said half joking half serious while they are staring at the sunset together.

“I wouldn’t do my mistake again. I’ll protect you for sure.” Albedo nodded. He no longer dreamt about his past life after he met her that’s why he can’t lose her now.

“Fate was cruel to us. But here we are, no more war but no more magic.” She sighed. The man beside her then give her a hug.

“I don’t understand how could that kind of world exist somewhere, but now we are reunited again and we should be glad.” Albedo smiled at her. His hand is holding hers tightly.

“Neither do I, but maybe it would be fun if we can go travel this world as well.” Lumine smiled back at him. She moved closer to nuzzled him after that.

“That would be a good idea.” He agreed.

“But one thing…” Lumine is looking at his eyes.

“Yes?”

“Promise me to never leave me again.”

Fin.
