Chapter Text
Clip, clop
Tia was all too aware of the sound of her heels tapping on the wooden floor as she walked over to her desk. The children were being especially quiet today; much less chaotic than usual. She knew that it was probably more or less due to the fact it was a Friday afternoon, and despite their seemingly unending energy, kids did get tired; and the soft lullaby of the rain on the dirty window was only adding to the sleepy atmosphere.
As Tia took out a new piece of chalk, quietly blowing off the excess powder off her fingers, she stood there for a moment. Almost getting roped in by the gentle beat of the drops. Alas, she shook her head out of her trance. She was on the job- she'd have plenty of time to nap this weekend. Unlike most of the other teachers at the small rural school, she actually did take her job somewhat seriously, and hardly ever went out. It never had been her thing.
The sound of the white chalk scraping at the dark green board disrupted the mood a bit, a few of the seated students jolting their heads up at the sound. Tia offered them a small smile before continuing writing the rest of the lesson. They only had an hour or so until dismissal, and it was clear that the students were getting antsy. However, the relaxing air the weather gave off was comforting, for Tia at the very least.
"A-alright class... we only have a few more lessons to go through...if the weather lets up, we can maybe go out early next week.. how does that sound-?"
The greenette had always spoken rather quietly; so the children had gotten accustomed to having to quiet themselves before she spoke if they wished to have the faintest idea of what they were doing. However, a slight buzz arose in the classroom, as the youngsters whispered to their mates. Tia frowned. She understood the hurry of a Friday, but couldn't they try and focus for her a bit longer? As she opened her mouth to speak again, something else rose amidst the noise.
The creak of the old, rusty door that served as the entrance to the classroom. A long time ago, it would've been a bright red, warm and inviting to all those who entered; but those days of glory were obviously long past, as the paint was chipped and peeling, and the door barely hanging on to its hinges. It was always rather loud, and sneaking in or out of the classroom would prove to be basically impossible. Frown deepening, the woman quickly turned on the spot toward the door, ready to catch whatever troublemaker was trying to get themselves an early weekend.
Rather than the apologetic or ashamed face of a child, Tia was faced with a pair of bright red and yellow eyes, gazing into her own.
"Ehehe~ hey sunshine, orrr.. Miss Safalin, wasn't it-?" With no further context, a woman with overly styled, long brown hair and a bright red pantsuit also clip-clopped over to the teacher's desk, before swinging her legs over in an incredibly unladylike manner to sit on top of the table. Tia could hardly do anything more than stare, mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water.
"U-umm...caaan I help you, Miss..?" If it was even possible, her voice came out even more drawn out than usual. Tia was pretty much blanking, and the whispers of the kids didn't quite help.
"Woah, she's one foxy mama~"
"Haha, right on..but what's got Miss Safalin all buggin out?"
"You think she's-"
Safalin stopped listening to their not so quiet voices right then and there, not wishing to know how that sentence ended. She waited somewhat impatiently for the woman to quit tapping that pencil and answer her question; yet she didn't act on said impatience, as despite them only having met now, the brunette gave off... dangerous vibes.
The lady giggled again before daintily sliding off the desk again, and Tia was made much too painfully aware of the limited space between them.
"Aww~ darling, chillax, would you? I'm just Sue Miley, from the board." She picked up the pencil she had been tapping earlier, using it to vaguely point at nowhere in particular to emphasis her words. Miley then gently pushed a loose strand of green hair behind Safalin's ear, placing the pencil there, much to her surprise. The greenette decided that the cracks in the dusty oak wood beneath her feet looked rather captivating, at the moment. The silence was there- and boy, was it awkward. She could feel the stranger's jewel like eyes gazing into her skull. Maybe they'd have to stay like this forever-
The blaring noise of the school bell rang through the room, and suddenly Safalin remembered where she was.
"Heyyy- uh- Miss Safalin, you seem pretty busy with Miss Miley and all but uh- the bell kinda just rang, if you catch my drift-?"
Safalin's face burned, and to avoid acknowledging the existence of the one standing beside her, she was suddenly all business.
"Yeeesss...of course. You all can go...I'll see you on Monday- don't forget the homework.." She immediately set to work wiping the blackboard, much quicker than she would've usually done it. So naturally, as things would seem, of course she managed to poof a large amount of dust into her face- causing her already pale complexion to go a ghostly white, and her nose to itch. Before she could react, Tia let out a series of small sneezes- it didn't seem like it would ever stop.
When it finally did, the green eyed woman turned, only to forcibly remember what she had been ignoring during the whole incident. Miley tilted her head a bit, looking amusedly at Safalin in the now emptied classroom.
"You're a bit of a spaz, aren't you? But don't worry~ I mean that in an...endearing way."
Safalin folded her hands rather awkwardly, unsure how to respond to the brunette's words. In all honesty, she wasn't sure of anything- the whole past hour had made her brain short circut. So she wasn't quite sure how to handle Miley's whole... flirting type thing. While she was sure she was reading too much into things, like usual, the mood had obviously been altered enough to make even the children notice. She gulped. Not fitting the norm in this small town would be...quite a problem. And besides- Miley probably just flirted with anything that she laid eyes on. She seemed the type- right?
Internal speech over, Safalin cleared her throat, deciding that ultimately, ignoring these pointless advances would be the safest bet. And besides, she just couldn't find it in herself to fully believe the woman. She was pretty, sure, a fact that Safalin was only too aware of- but in... an unnatural way. It was almost doll like, the way her long lashed eyes blinked and the way her full lips curled into insincere smiles.
"So. Ummm...now that the kids are gone, why are you here anyways, Miss Miley?"
The corners of her mouth perked up into a sadistic grin. Long nails painted red lifted Safalin's chin up, forcing her green eyes to make contact with the red and yellow.
"Oh, darling. Didn't I make it obvious? I'm here for you."
