Work Text:

Izuku, from here on out, you’ll be living with us,” Auntie’s sweet voice echoes through the quiet house. Her warm hand wraps around Izuku’s smaller one, introducing him to his new home.

Emerald eyes scan the living space, wondering where a certain small blonde was. In the corner of the living room, his doe-eyes spot the familiar red eyes that match Auntie’s and chased after them.

Kacchan !” the freckled boy called. Instead, the small blonde ran away, Izuku chased after him, calling out his nickname. Darkness encompasses them, the only source of light is the shining hair of his best friend.

“I don’t want to be brothers with Izuku!” were the last words he heard before the darkness consumed him.

The sound of an alarm buzzed through the ears of a fluffy, curly head boy. He quickly reached for the alarm and turned it off. Groggily getting up, he rubs his eyes to wake himself up. He thinks to himself about the dream he had, it had been a while since he had dreamt something like that.

The thoughts of his close friend rejecting him continue to haunt him after many years. He grew used to the void in his heart from it, but the dreams still persist. Izuku opens the door to exit his room to head down to breakfast. He takes a moment to stare at the door in front of him, the door of his best friend who has chosen to ignore him. No, he hates him. He made that apparent when he first moved in.

Izuku has since learned to keep his head down and avoid anything, spending his school life as an invisible character. Even as his third year of high school begins, he still has no friends. Katsuki was his first and last friend. His fear of being rejected still haunts him, so he became that plain person no one ever speaks to.

The green-haired student prepares to get ready for the new term, putting on his uniform and heading down the stairs where he can smell some fried eggs and toast. It seems that Auntie Mitsuki is making breakfast this time around.

“Good morning, Auntie,” Izuku says with a smile.

The familiar blonde woman looks up from plating the remaining food and smile, “Ah, Izu- Kun , ‘morning, I hope you slept well.” Izuku happily nodded, giving her a reassuring smile, trying to forget his dream.

He takes a seat and begins eating his breakfast like normal before the chaos starts. Just right on time, Auntie walks towards the stairs and sighs, “KATSUKI GET YER ASS DOWN HERE FOR BREAKFAST, YOU HAVE SCHOOL!”

After years of living with the Bakugo's, Izuku had learned to handle the constant bursts of screams and yells, quite frankly he enjoyed the odd behavior. It makes the house less lonely than  it  feels.

“I’M COMING, HAG!” a voice calls out from the top of the stairs followed by stomping. Making his way down was the one person that Izuku doesn’t know where he stands in their broken relationship. A pure carbon-copy of his mother, the blonde got taller over the years and bulkier, with his shoulder broader and his waist trim. He still wears baggy clothing, but Izuku has seen him in his workout outfit and he has a body fit for a model.

Unlike himself, the blonde has made himself quite attractive and Izuku can’t help but look at him in awe. He was the shining jewel that made everyone fall for him. He knew that because he was always watching him from a distance. How bright he smiled with confidence, it was like he is high up in the sky, flying away while Izuku stayed behind on the ground.

The abrupt creak of the chair beside him startled Izuku back from his thoughts as he watched the blonde male take a seat right next to him. He growled at his mother who continued to yell at him for always being late then glares right at the green-haired boy next to him. Instinctively, the forest-green eyes immediately looked away.

No matter how close they were, physically, the space between them is very large.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

With a sigh, Izuku gathers his giant yellow bag and heads downstairs towards the foyer where his bright red shoes lay waiting for him. Quickly slipping them on, the freckled boy says his farewells to Auntie Mitsuki and makes his way out. He leaves much earlier than Katsuki as he does not want to embarrass the blonde for walking with him to school. Someone like him shouldn’t be beside the explosive male, he is a nobody, after all.

Arriving at the, practically, empty class, Izuku settled down towards the edge of the class, just at the back, closer to the windows, where he can view the outside. The outside was always lovely, it always took him to places when he did not want to be in the physical world. He wanted to be the petals that float in the wind, landing in random directions, no destination.

He may have gotten distracted for a bit too long because the next thing he knew, his desk was getting kicked abruptly.

“Well, well, well, if it isn’t shrimpy!” a familiar malevolent voice reaches his ears. When the mossy curls turn to face the voice and immediately, his face dropped. Monoma Neito, the worst person that Izuku had ever come into contact with. He’s like a leech who continues to torment the boy’s livelihood. His condescending smirk makes Izuku’s stomach churn instantly.

“Looks like we’ll be in the same class, once more, huh?” the brighter blonde’s arm wraps around Izuku’s slender neck, purposely gripping him tight and whispered in his ear, “Another chance to make your life a living hell,” he chuckled.

Izuku felt sick, his breakfast had reached his throat, the bile burning his esophagus. He couldn’t speak back, only nod obediently. He couldn’t go against someone like Monoma, someone who was also surrounded by people who would always back him up. His friend, Tsubara Kosei, assisted him in the constant bullying.

He’s cursed to live as a push-over.

Monoma laughs, ordering the freckled student to get them something to eat and taking his seat right in front of Izuku, sneering at him. When everyone was settled, Monoma and  Tsubara  boxing Izuku in the corner, the two ruffians decided to order the green-haired boy to get some snacks before classes start. As Izuku headed out, right on the other side of the door was the number one person he did not want to see in this situation, Katsuki.

The blonde looked at him in surprise, but before he could say anything, the shorter boy quickly pushed him aside and ran to the nearest vending machine. Panic courses through him as he wonders why he wasn’t told that he was in the same class as the blonde.

He could only hope that Katsuki doesn’t open his mouth about anything to Auntie. This was the first time in years since they were placed in the same class. Izuku had always avoided his estranged friend at school as to not throw suspicion on him. He was too popular to have someone like himself as a friend. It was also the reason why Izuku also did average in his classes, to let Katsuki take the spotlight, for him to move on.

But he forgot that third-years don’t have a special program because they were already graduating and now, he might see how Izuku’s school life is. Monoma and  Tsubara  must not know of his connection to the blonde enigma.

When he returned with the pile of snacks, the blonde and orange-haired bullies were chatting up a storm with Katsuki, possibly trying to get on his good side. Izuku also noted the other group that was surrounding him, a girl with pink hair, a black-haired boy, a red-haired male, and another darker blonde with a black streak on his bangs. They all gave annoyed looks at the two intruders while Katsuki scowled.

“Shut the fuck up,” he growled, kicking the desk causing the other two boys to flinch, “I don’t give a shit of who you are, get out of the way,” his glare was enough to have the two bullies scamper with a tail between their legs. The fact that Katsuki had grown enough to tower over them was proof enough of his dominance.

Others that flooded into the class watched on with wonder and amazement. Meanwhile, Izuku returned to his seat, avoiding eye contact with the blonde who continued to watch  him.  Monoma and Tsubasa returned to their seats snatching the snacks from the other male’s clutches and scowls, “That person is crazy,” Monoma mutters, “We were just being friendly.”

Izuku doesn’t say anything, instead of keeping his focus outside of the window, ignoring the familiar red eyes burning holes in the back of his head. He was lucky enough to have homeroom start soon after and those eyes turned away.

The rest of the day was spent avoiding all of Katsuki’s advances to talk while at the same time dodging his pursuers that stick to him like leeches. They left him alone for the most part as they were more interested in getting the other blonde on their side, but failed many times.

The freckled boy managed to not have any interactions and rushed home without saying anything. His next obstacle is dealing with Katsuki at home but thankfully he won’t be home until later as he witnessed him being dragged by his friends somewhere else.

With a heavy sigh, Izuku stood tall and began his evening chores, ignoring the oncoming storm that is the Bakugou interrogation. He could only hope he wouldn’t say a thing and act like everything was normal.

The thing is, it had been a while since the boy had spoken with Katsuki, only keeping small talk. The blonde was far more persistent than he imagined and it is how he found himself cornered in his room, sliding down the wall as ruby eyes burn into his weakening green ones.

“Tell me,” his face was close, his breath looming over his lips, “Are those fools bullying you?” the pure intimidation in his words were causing the boy to falter, but he shook his head anyway.

“N-No!” he refused to be any more of a burden to this family than he already is. Unfortunately, it was the wrong thing to say as he felt the wind of a punch right beside his head. Katsuki was becoming violent, “N-Nothing is wrong, Katsuki, it’s okay!” Izuku tries to calm him down.

The other boy doesn’t buy it even for a second but he sighs and leaves it alone. Without saying anything, he backed away and slammed his door shut. Izuku was left alone, curling himself into a ball, and began to cry.

He needed to move out, soon.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

“How was your first day?” the old hag walks in still in her work clothes and her arms crossed. She didn’t raise her voice, fearing Deku might hear  her .

Katsuki didn’t even look at her, instead just continued to do his homework, “...Normal,” he answered, “You didn’t say anything about us being in the same class.”

The female blonde sighed, “Of course not, you know Izuku’s personality, he would’ve asked to transfer classes.”

Katsuki was still ticked off from today’s events and what he witnessed. Deku’s reaction to the situation was the same as a victim and it pissed him off. Everything about Deku pissed him off, he always wondered what happened to them.

He knew that the other boy had always felt like he was a pain but he never was. Katsuki wanted to show his appreciation for him being there but he never understood the actions and continued to return the gifts and toys. The idiot was nothing but airheaded.

“He was fine...” Katsuki finally responded, “Why are you worrying so much?”

“Izuku plans on moving out after you both graduate,” this hag didn’t bother to tell him that until now.

“What?!” Katsuki asks, incredulously.

“I just told you how his personality is,” she sighs, “He told me his intentions before the start of the semester and he’s convinced he’s overstayed his welcome.”

Katsuki growls, he has to stop him. He promised him, promised that he wouldn’t leave him. The gears began to turn in his head, his first steps would use the fact that they are together in class. A smirk appears on his face, clearing up all the muddled thoughts in his head as he realized that this was his only chance to clear things up with his childhood friend.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The next day, Izuku woke up with a headache and swollen red eyes. He woke up earlier than everyone and decided to make breakfast and some  Bentos  for them.

Auntie Mitsuki came in once the green-haired boy was finishing up plating the last of breakfast with all the lunch boxes filled to the brim with leftovers.

“Oh, Izuku! You shouldn’t have!” the older female giggles as Izuku blushed, realizing he may have overstepped some boundaries.

“I-It’s okay, I woke up early anyway,” he quickly said.

The two  sit  in silence with Auntie standing up to yell from the staircase. Oddly enough, the blonde male was already making his way downstairs, surprising Izuku and Auntie.

“W-Well, at least we didn’t have to scream for you,” she clears her throat while Katsuki takes his seat beside Izuku.

The shorter male avoided eye contact, refusing to meet with the blonde’s eyes as he remembered last night’s events. The air was awkward between them, but the sudden raspy voice caught the other two’s attention.

“What was that, Katsuki?” Auntie quickly asks.

“Me and Deku will be going to school together, so wait for me nerd,” he looks at the freckled boy who looks shocked.

This was the first time the blonde had ever initiated something like this. It was completely out of the ordinary and it was most likely because of yesterday’s events that he was acting like this. Because he didn’t want Auntie to find out, he had no choice but to comply.

On the way to school, Izuku made sure to stay behind the broad back, at a distance, as to not attract attention. Unfortunately, the blonde stopped and asked if he was going too fast.

“N-No, I-I just-” he was instantly cut off.

“Then stand beside me,” he smirked, it was rare for him to smile like that. He looked extremely handsome and Izuku felt something flutter inside of him. He didn’t know what was going inside the blonde’s head but he could only think of the worst scenarios happening.

When the duo arrived at the class, everyone was shocked, especially Monoma and Tsubara. Izuku wanted to curl up and hide somewhere before he gets hunted down. When they took their seats, both of them were being bombarded with questions, Katsuki immediately silenced his group of friends but Izuku was not so lucky.

“So, you’re Bakugou’s new lackey, huh?” the two bullies jeered and teased.

“It probably obvious to him that you are weak and can only be pushed around,” Monoma said.

Apparently, Katsuki was listening in and immediately stomped his way to the group and his fist met with Monoma’s cheek. Immediately, Izuku reacts and instinctively screams, “Kacchan!”

The next thing he knew, they were sitting in the principal’s office getting an earful from the counselor while the principal listens.

“Bakugou, did you really incite violence on two students because they were bullying Midoriya?” the short, stout man asked, turning his attention to the blonde.

Katsuki refused to look at the short man’s eyes, supposedly fearing what he is about to experience, “They were annoying Deku, I was just helping...” he muttered off with Izuku looking back at his pouty face.

Before he could respond, the door slammed open and Auntie Mitsuki hastily entered, “Sorry, I came as fast as I could,” turning quickly to give a greeting to Izuku and then a threatening face to her son, “KATSUKI, WHAT THE FUCK?!” she slapped the back of his head, a usual occurrence.

The blonde male barked back while everyone else in the room looked on. The principal was aware of Izuku and Katsuki’s condition being that he had their forms right in front of them, but the mother and guardian was quite outgoing with her tactics of discipline.

Once everything calmed down, all three members of the Bakugou household sat down with two of them seething in their seats. Izuku just looked down on his lap, waiting for the oncoming punishment and lecture.

“Now, Bakugou- Kun ,” the principal clears his throat, “Explain your reasoning behind your act of violence.” The old man was well aware that Izuku is a victim and wouldn’t speak up, he also knew that Katsuki is an ace and very honest.

“Deku, no, Izuku was clearly being bullied, I stepped in,” he looked over, once more, to the silent boy on the other side of his mother.

Bakugou-san immediately looked over to the freckled boy who curled into himself even more as their intense gazes were all on him.

“Is this true, Izuku?” the woman asked to which Izuku didn’t respond, instead of focusing on something else. Based on the student’s reaction, it supplied her with exactly why she felt a crack in her son’s and his relationship. Taking a deep inhale, Mitsuki stepped in as the adult for her boys, “Principal, I will be taking these two home ,” she bowed, “I apologize for the inconvenience but please hold off on their punishment until I settle some things,” she declared before grabbing the two boys and walking out.

The older man and the counselor watched on as the family left, “They’re quite the family, huh?” the principal commented before asking for a cup of tea and moving onward to Monoma’s punishment.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

When the three arrived home, they all sat down at the dining table with an intense air. Mitsuki glared at the two boys, while they avoid her eyes. She sighs, “Izuku...why didn’t you mention the bullying?” she finally asked.

Izuku didn’t want to answer, too frightened that Auntie would step in once more and he would be more of a burden. He settled to staying silent, silent tears falling on his face.

The older blonde just watched, confirming her fears. She turns to Katsuki who looks at her with his own menacing glare, “Katsuki, why did you punch the boy, you idiot?” she questioned in a chillingly, calm voice.

“...I told you, hag,” he responded.

“Punching someone just because they looked like they were bullying doesn’t count,” she deadpanned, crossing one leg over the other.

Her child continued to give her a look before speaking, “If he’s not  gonna  say it, I will, then.”

Immediately, Izuku shot up and covered the boy’s mouth, “NO! DON’T!” His tears were streaming down his face.

“So, it’s been happening for a while, then...” Mitsuki confirmed, causing the freckled boy to give up his fight and nodding. She promptly turns to Katsuki, “You should’ve punched them harder and made them regret ever hurting Izuku.”

The green-haired boy looked right at his guardian, his eyes glassy, “W-What?” He quietly asked.

Mitsuki stands up and walks over to the boy, as tears begin to fall on his freckled cheeks, and brings him into a hug, consoling him. She admits to herself that she is not very good with things like this, growing up in an environment where it was all about discipline and showing no fear, but Izuku was raised differently and was sweeter than anything. She looks to Katsuki, as she tries to hush the boy in her arms, the blonde gives her a nod and gets up to head upstairs. She wonders what he has planned to help the situation.

Izuku begins to sniffle and calm down as he apologizes to Auntie about breaking down like that.

“You don’t have to apologize, Izuku,” she smiles, pulling back to see his swollen, red face, “You endured a lot but that doesn’t mean you were in the wrong.”

By then, her son returned with an envelope and approaches the freckled boy who was wiping away his tears. Izuku turns around before he could say anything, “Thank you,  Kacchan ,” he quickly says, giving his brightest smile that hasn’t been seen in a long time.

The other boy gave a bewildered look before smirking and offering the envelope to Izuku which he gladly takes from his hands, “For you, I’ll most likely be suspended, but afterward...” he scratches the back of his head and blushed, “Let’s go out, just like old times...”

His red eyes look at the forest-haired boy who was trembling, causing Katsuki to panic but he was immediately met with a large hug, “ Kacchan ! Yes!” Izuku happily exclaims, “I’ve wanted to watch this movie for a while! Thank you!” he tightly hugs his childhood friend.

The taller blonde was a blushing mess when he returned the hug. Mitsuki looked on in wonderment thinking about her son’s reaction. She grinned, devilishly as her red eyes met with Katsuki’s and  he  gave a warning look.

She brought her index finger to her lips, promising to keep silent.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

In the end, Katsuki was suspended for the rest of the week while Monoma and  Tsubara  had two weeks. Izuku and Katsuki somewhat made up that night and they discussed things other than the harassment.

“So, why did you return all the toys and gifts I gave you when we were younger?” Katsuki asked that same night when they returned to Izuku’s room.

“Eh? I thought you were being forced to share, so...” Izuku became a blushing mess when he recalled the events.

The blonde gave a puzzled look, “What are you talking about?” he asks.

“W-Well, I was there when y-you told Auntie that...” he trailed off before glancing at his friend’s face and quickly completed the sentence, “Youdidn’twanttobemybrother...”

Of course, Katsuki caught that entire part and began laughing hard squeezing his middle, “W-Wait,” he wheezed causing the freckled boy to turn into a complete strawberry. It took a bit before he settled once more, wiping away any stray tears while Izuku is mortified, “Oh my gods,” he said, catching his breath, “I didn’t mean it like that...” he gave a solemn look, “I wanted to be more than that, Deku.”

“E-Eh?” the flustered boy gave a confused sound, not understanding the blonde’s statement. His face became dark and serious while Izuku can only look on confused.

After a few moments, the blonde sighed, “...Forget it,” he got up and left.

Thinking back at it, Izuku may have complicated things by not understanding what Katsuki was talking about. He walks along the road, wondering about what might happen at school as dread fills him.

The events and news might have already reached the entire school body. By the time he arrived at the gates, all eyes were on him as he listens in on the whispers of pity and anger. It made Izuku not want to be in the area, regretting his choices.

He endured the stares all the way to the class where Katsuki’s group of friends had already occupied his desk area. They all immediately face him and gave a smile, rather than a sorry look.

“Yo,” the red-head greets as Izuku approaches his desk. He gets up from the seat and allows the boy to settle down before a rush of questions is thrown at him. Becoming a nervous wreck, the freckled student freaked out and ran out of the class, trying to get a breath of fresh air away from the pressure of handling the situation.

His entire day was filled with long stares and curious glances. Katsuki’s group of friends were also giving him pressure by constantly looking at him. He ate his lunch behind the gymnasium as there were too many people in the cafeteria. He had to keep himself hidden since people were looking for him. He always knew the blonde was popular but he never knew the extent of his popularity.

Just as the dismissal bell rang, Izuku was huddled up by the “ Bakusquad ” as he had come to  learn was  what they called each other.

“Hey, man,” the same redhead that has been trying to converse with him greeted with a smile, “We were just wondering if you’re alright,” he clarified his intentions.

Out of habit, the green-haired student would tense up in the presence of those who crowd him and would give awkward looks, but then he was told their intentions, he relaxed.

“U-Um, I’m fine...” he gave a weak smile as he observed the four group of friends smile brightly, realizing they are approaching him calmly.

“That’s great!” the pink-haired girl excitedly cheered, “We were heading to Bakugou’s home to give him his missing assignments,  wanna  come with us?” she offered.

Of course, this group didn’t know that Izuku lived with the blonde, no one did. He wondered what they would say if they found out that their friend lives with the weirdo of the school. He made the decision to leave quickly once they arrived nearby the home as to not ruin Katsuki’s reputation any more than he has already.

On their way to Katsuki’s house, Izuku got to learn the names of his friends. The friendly redhead is Kirishima Eijirou , the pink-haired girl is Mina Ashido, the darker blonde is Kaminari Denki, and finally, the black-haired student is Sero Hanta . All of them have claimed themselves as the leeches who refuse to get off the blonde’s back and consider him their best friend.

It was surprising to see how close they were to Katsuki. A painful throb made Izuku feel as he listened to everyone’s stories about what annoys him and how they all got together. He really missed out on so much of the blonde’s moments. It physically hurt Izuku to think about his broken relationship with Katsuki and all his moments that he could have witnessed but he didn’t want to be a bother about it.

The dread of reaching home only for everyone to find out the blonde’s secret seeps straight into Izuku’s gut. It was slowly making him sick and he did not want this group to know something that they both maintained over the years.

As they got closer to the building, Izuku finally stopped, “Hey, guys, I just remembered something I needed to do, so...” he awkwardly said, scratching the back of his head.

“Hey, everything alright?” Sero- Kun  asked.

“A-Ah, yeah,” the freckled boy tried to smile it off, “I just have to go, see you all tomorrow,” he waved them good-bye before heading in the direction of the library. He did not see the concerned glances the group gave each other, nor did he want to.

He spent a good chunk of his evening in the library up to the time it was close to closing hours. He was ushered out and he apologized profusely for staying too long. He only hoped he stayed away long enough for the  Bakusquad  to leave just before dinner.

Izuku’s stomach grumbled as he  remembers  he had nothing to eat since lunch and hoped dinner was ready when he arrived.

Unfortunately, a familiar set of red eyes stopped him before he could even enter the house as he lazily opened the gate. Izuku froze on the spot while he measures just how upset his blonde friend is.

“Where were you?” he growled, low and deep.

“L-Library!” Izuku quickly answered, trying to make his way into the house without causing a scene. It wasn’t the best idea as his arm was immediately grabbed and he was dragged up the stairs and pushed into the blonde’s room, “K-Kacchan! Wha-”

His words were cut off with a hug, “I was worried, you idiot! You didn’t even send a text to tell me,” the warmth of the blonde’s body was like a heater and it made Izuku relax from his tensed form.

“S-Sorry, I thought you would be busy with your friends and I didn’t want them to find out...about us,” the smaller boy explained as he returns the embrace.

The blonde pulled back and looked at Izuku with confusion, “Why didn’t you want them to find out?”

His face was really close and he smelled really good, Izuku unconsciously became flustered at the proximity, “W-Well... because you’re so popular and good-looking and I’m pretty plain so I-I thought that y-your image will be ruined w-with people finding out...and-”

“Enough! I get it,” Katsuki sighed, “You’re an idiot,” he commented before flicking the green-haired boy’s forehead.

“Ow!” Izuku cradled his head that was stinging in pain from the flick, “What’d you do that for?!” he whined.

The blonde didn’t answer the question, instead, he huffed and turned around, “Go settle down, dinner is getting prepared by me, today.” He promptly left, stomping his way down the stairs, leaving a confused Izuku on his own.

Kacchan  is making dinner?” he mutters with an exasperated expression.

The day just kept on getting weirder as it went on, but he could only hope it settles down once the blonde returns back to school.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

Unfortunately, even with the return of the blonde, all attention was still towards Izuku who was now being dragged along by Katsuki everywhere he went. Even when he was on suspension, he would constantly be right at the freckled student’s side, helping out in assignments and working alongside him for dinner preparations.

Even Auntie Mitsuki has been less harsh on Katsuki, instead secretly encouraging him with small words and yelling at him less. Izuku was left out of the circle, but he was glad that they were getting along more.

The weekend was spent at the theater where Izuku and Katsuki got to watch the new All Might movie, it used to be their favorite show when they were younger and it was announced that there would be a new series starting soon.

Of course, being someone with nothing better to do and having no friends, Izuku had sought peace with the All Might series and he had stashed a collection of figurines and limited-edition stuff he could find with his allowance. Apparently, he was not so secretive as the blonde found it right away, hence his reason for dragging Izuku long for the movies.

The reason why they were being looked at weirdly was that someone from school had caught them together and it seems to have spread throughout the school. Katsuki, the ever cool and chill person, did nothing about it while Izuku was weary about being around the blonde when such rumors were around.

Every time he would try to be alone to avoid being an embarrassment, he would be dragged back into the  Bakusquad  and forced to sit with them. Of course, the blonde was ecstatic to have his childhood friend beside him, but Izuku was still a little jumpy with the forceful action.

Bakubro , you seem happy!” Kirishima commented while Izuku and Katsuki have a staredown.

The blonde ignored him, instead of focusing all his attention on the green-haired boy who was awkwardly trying to fit in but had no skills to help him. He was amused at how hard he was trying; it was the reason he had forced him to join the group. Everyone was pretty accepting of the nerd as they also worried about him and how nervous he is.

The words from the other night were still fresh on his mind as he wondered why Deku was so frightened to ruin his image. Sure, he was popular, but he didn’t care about what the extras think. It was hard for him to understand because he was always surrounded by people that respected him.

The freckled boy was different. He was quiet and invisible, always standing within the crowd, trying to keep himself within these boundaries that Katsuki just wanted to drag him out of. And he was certain he would do it because he wanted to reunite with his childhood friend in their fragile relationship.

Izuku had no idea why a sudden chill ran up his spine as he took another bite from his bento. He also didn’t see the red-eyed blonde looking right at him as he was more concerned about the others looking at him with weird expressions.

“I feel bad for him. Bakugou-Kun is just trying to help him, right?” he listened on to all the people that didn’t know the connection he has with the blonde, nor did he want anyone to know. He was not enough to be beside someone like Bakugou Katsuki, after all.

∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞

The next few weeks had Izuku’s head spinning in circles. Not only had Katsuki been adamant about spending his time with the freckled boy, but he was getting closer every time. No matter how much he ran or made excuses, the blonde would catch him and drag him somewhere.

The issues with Monoma and  Tsubara  had calmed down as their seats were moved and they refused to look at Izuku, fearing Katsuki would come after them again. This made it easier for the boy to breathe a little easier without the tension of people being after him.

He had also noted the soft touches and constant lingering stares, but he didn’t understand why. Every time Izuku would build up the courage to ask, the content smirk and obvious satisfaction always blew everything away. He hates himself for finding it all so attractive and didn’t want anything to do with it. But this was Katsuki he was talking about; he was as stubborn as a bull if he wanted to be.

Kacchan , where are we going?” Izuku whines wondering why he was being dragged somewhere during summer break. He just wanted to spend his time sleeping and watching the new All Might series until the blonde barged in and told him to get ready. The summer heat was beating down on them as they walked to a local café. Izuku gives a puzzled look while Katsuki huffed and continued forward, not batting an eye at the other.

When they sat down in the booth that was when he was given an explanation, “You idiot, we’re here to celebrate your eighteenth birthday, did you forget?” he asked, with a scowl.

It was then where Izuku realized he knew he was missing something the entire time, “Oh!” is all he said as they ordered some drinks and Katsuki bought him a slice of cake.

“You’re so dumb, sometimes,” he sighed as he drank his macchiato with barely any sugar. The boy always hated sweet things.

“Sorry, I was looking forward to the new All Might series being released today, I totally forgot!” Izuku laughed it off, scratching the back of his head.

The blonde hums in acknowledgment, “We can watch it tonight, we’ll be home alone tonight,” he smirks making Izuku flustered.

“O-Okay...” he agrees.

That night was the most fun he had in a while. He got to argue with the blonde about the theories of the new series and talk about their favorite parts. They fell asleep later than usual, especially Katsuki who has a set time to go to bed.

Slowly, but surely, their broken relationship was getting mended, much to Izuku’s surprise. Weeks turned to months and the winter semester began. The green-haired student was settling down with the blonde’s group of friends, realizing that they were not bad people, rather a group who wants to have fun.

As the months travel by, the two childhood friends get even closer, much like when they were younger. Auntie Mitsuki had noticed how much time they spend together now and  they found  solace in each other’s proximity.

Katsuki constantly gives longing glances, however, which confused Izuku. This especially began to occur more often when the blonde accidentally left his wallet at him and messaged the freckled boy not to look in it.

Of course, the green-haired male knew not to look into things but his curiosity beckoned him to wonder about the contents. He chose to leave it and opted to ask Katsuki when he returned from his errand with his friends. As he suspected, however, the blonde was not the type to open too easily to things like that.

This is how Izuku found himself observing the taller youth with more interest. He couldn’t quite explain the blooming feeling in his chest every time he looked at the blonde, but he could not help but enjoy the pull that drew them closer.

By the time the season of love, Valentine’s Day, rolled around, Izuku was too occupied on an upcoming exam to realize that Katsuki was hinting at his interest in possible chocolates. He didn’t say much, but the green-haired student did note the number of chocolate recipes lying around.

Auntie Mitsuki seemed to have had enough of it and dragged Izuku down to help her with chocolate making.

“Auntie, why are we doing this?” Izuku asked, still not understanding why everyone was acting weird, trying to come up with dates that he may have missed.

“We’re making something for a certain someone and I expect you to give it to them,” she gets closer and points a finger at him, then winks. He was genuinely confused as to what she was saying but helped her with the ingredients, noting the lack of sweetness, and was more on the spicier side with some chili powder. The night ended with some special truffles that are milder in sugar and more intense in heat. Mitsuki secretly wrapped it in an orange and black gift box and snuck it in Izuku’s bag before he left the next morning.

By the time the two boys arrived in school, Izuku was ashamed to not realize Valentine’s day had hit and it was no wonder why he had been feeling like something was missing.

“Not only did you forget your fucking birthday, but you’re forgetting events, too?” Katsuki flicked his forehead. He was carrying an extra bag ready for all the chocolates he was going to receive for the day.

It seems the blonde’s popularity had no end for, by the end of the day, Katsuki had two bags filled to the brim with chocolates and confession letters.

“Did you accept any of the confessions?” Izuku asked jokingly, ignoring the throbbing pain in his chest. He had peeked into his bag and noticed the box of chocolates, remembering that he made some with Auntie.

Katsuki shot him a glare before looking away, “...Not interested,” he responded with a pout.

“Eh? But there are so many people who seemed to genuinely like you, why don’t you at least try?” the freckled boy was shocked, “All those broken hearts.”

The blonde didn’t say anything, he just looked away and clicked his tongue. Izuku had felt this sudden distance between them since the morning and he couldn’t figure out why. Suddenly, he was reminded of the chocolates burning a hole in his pants. He remembered Auntie’s words from last night and he realized why his friend had been acting up. So, he ran up to the speeding blonde who was rushing for the gates.

Kacchan ! Wait!” he calls for him. The blonde halts, causing Izuku to bump into his broad back, “Ow...”

Whaddaya  want, nerd?” the raspy voice was slightly shaking, but he didn’t turn around.

Taking a deep breath and reaching for the box in his pocket, the freckled nerd exclaimed, “Here!” and bowed his head while holding out a box of chili truffles. With his eyes facing the ground, he couldn’t quite tell what was going on, but the slight footsteps and the graze of calloused fingers were enough to tell him that he could stand. His emerald eyes peered up and saw the blonde with puffy eyes take the chocolates and scowl.

The thing he knew, the smell of sweet caramel and burning wood enveloped him and he was brought into an embrace. “Fucking finally got the hint, nerd?” he whispered.

Izuku was still dazed from the warmth of rare affection from the blonde that he didn’t quite register what he said. All the events were catching up to him, from the lingering touches to the heated stares. Katsuki was not a person known to speak his feelings, rather he uses actions. So, his close proximity was his way of showing his interest.

“You need to make it more obvious, Kacchan,” Izuku pouted, scolding his friend.

The blonde hums, smirking assuredly, “So, what do you say nerd?”

“Why me?” Izuku asks, slightly hesitant.

“Because you promised to marry me,” he replies, getting closer to the freckled face.

“How do you remember these  Kacchan ...?” Izuku’s face was heated, large hands cup his face, lifting it before he feels the other’s breath on his.

“Because it’s you,” the answer was sealed with a kiss.

With whoops and cheers, the  Bakusquad  celebrate the two childhood friends getting together.

“Finally!” Kaminari exclaims, “It took you forever to get it, Midoriya!” he laughs, bringing am around the  smaller’s  shoulders.

Izuku only laughed awkwardly, realizing he was the only one who didn’t know. Auntie Mitsuki was also quite satisfied to have pushed the younger in the right direction. She gave quite a satisfied smile.

Katsuki growled, “Dunce face, off of him, now,” he orders.

“Oh, come on, Midoriya your boyfriend is a jealous type, be careful!” Kaminari jokingly warns.

“I got it, I got it,” the freckled boy struggles to breathe.

It was just after the university exams and everyone got together to celebrate completing them. Izuku and Katsuki decided to go to university together after the blonde found out that Izuku was holding off on his grades and brilliance. After a long lecture, they both worked hard to get into the best university in Tokyo.

The others were going to be around, they promised to hand out more.

“Good, I was getting tired of you all,” Katsuki commented.

The others groaned and whined, beginning to cry, “ Bakubro !! We’re  gonna  miss you guys!” Kirishima cried, embracing the boys in his larger chest. Everyone began to huddle much to Katsuki’s dislike, but he allowed it.

In the end, Izuku and Katsuki began dating and continued through college. They planned to move out and live together in an apartment close to their university. Of course, Izuku was ecstatic to accept.

By the time graduation hit, Izuku and Katsuki were happily in love and close together. They were happy to be together and comfortable enough to communicate their problems. Katsuki still struggles to speak his mind, but after some coaxing, he’s willing to talk.

It took a bit, but the blonde was finally willing to show what he had saved in his wallet, causing the green-haired boy to blush furiously. That day, they spent alone in each other’s arms as they began to clear out all their emotions piled on over the years.

Kacchan , I love you,” Izuku said, giving him a kiss on the cheek as they make their way home from the graduation ceremony.

The blonde turns his head, turning pink, “L-Love you, too, Nerd,” he said, nervous.

The green-haired boy giggled and grabbed the blonde’s warm hand, intertwining their fingers together. Emerald eyes watch the cherry blossom petals flow through the wind, one catches on his face and was picked off by the blonde.

Izuku found himself thinking back. He was no longer lost in the wind, he was caught and put in the right place.

With Katsuki, his childhood friend and only ever love.
