Work Text:
Izuku’s eyes slowly opened as he was roused by the sound of banging on his dorm room door. He could just make out the voice of his friend and classmate, Iida Tenya. While he was beginning to come to his senses he thought, “I just want to go back to sleep’. His bed felt warm, ‘much warmer than normal’, he thought and he had no desire to move from it, even for his good friend.
After a few moments, he heard the sound of the doorknob turning and the slight creak of the door opening. Normally this would have done the trick and gotten him out of bed, but even this was not enough this morning. Into his room walked the aforementioned Iida, along with Uraraka Ocacho and Ashido Mina. The three were together but for slightly different reasons.
Iida knew that Midoriya woke up early, even on off days, and he was greatly concerned that his friend might be hurt or sick. As the president of Class 1-A, he felt a strong obligation to check on all his fellow students and as a good friend he felt a personal responsibility to make sure everything was alright. Ashdio had been looking for Tsuyu, as she was also a fairly earlier riser and no one had seen her this morning. When Mina went to the frog girl’s room to check on her, she found the room was empty and quite cold, which greatly concerned the acid quirk user as Tsuyu could not handle the extreme cold and the arrival of a snowstorm yesterday and the accompanying colder temperatures would definitely cause her issues. Uraraka was concerned for Tusyu as well, but even more for Midoriya. ‘He seemed fine yesterday before the storm but perhaps the cold affected him as well’, she thought.
Tenya was the first one to speak, “Midoriya, are you alright? I was worried as you had not been seen by anyone this morning. Do you feel sick or hurt in anyway?”
Midoriya was now starting to wake up slowly, he stretched his arms above his head, causing the blanket that was covering him to fall back. “I am fine everyone. What time is it? I have my alarm set to go off pretty early so maybe something happened with the power in the dorm last night?”
Tenya began to have a nervous look on his face and seemed a bit more rigged than normal. “I have heard no complaints about the power, nor did I have any issues as my alarm went off like clockwork.”
Ashido and Uraraka also had strange looks on their faces, but their expressions were different from Iida’s. Izuku thought, ‘They look like they are surprised and… happy? I wonder why?’
Ashido now spoke, though Izuku could tell she seemed distracted by something. “I guess you haven’t seen Tsuyu this morning since you have been in bed the whole time, huh.” Izuku now noticed a slight redness to Mina’s cheeks and an even darker shade of red on Uraraka’s face.
Uraraka tried to cover his eyes with her hands and nervously stammered out, “De-De-De-Deku!”. Izuku heard her swallow as it was quite loud. “Wh-Wh-Why are you not wearing a shirt. It’s so c-c-cold, you might get s-s-s-ick.” It appeared that the gravity quirk user might faint and then her words hit Midoriya like a ton of bricks.
Izuku looked down and saw that he was indeed shirtless and suddenly he felt very cold. He was about to pull up the covers back over him when suddenly one arm stretched up in front of his face. Confusion was written clearly on all parties as they could see both of Izuku’s hands and this was an extra one. Now that he looked more closely, he could tell the hand was larger than normal for the size of the arm in question. The situation was made even more puzzling to the three classmates standing in his room when a second arm joined the first one and this was followed by the sound that is made when stretching and it was emanating from just below the line of the blanket.
Midoriya started to lift the blanket when Ashido grabbed it and tossed it back revealing Tsuyu, whom Mina had been looking for all morning. Tsuyu was laying next to Izuku but her head was on his abdomen. Her face had an unmistakable look of contentment on it and her arms now returned down to her and she wrapped them around Midoriya’s waist. Her eyes were closed and her breathing was gentle. Suddenly she spoke very quietly, “So warm, so very warm.” She sighed and then they could hear gentle snores and croaks coming from the frog girl.
The reactions of the three friends were quite different as Iida froze up and tried to speak but only made stammering sounds that sounded like a car engine that would not start. Ashido squealed, finding it both impossible to believe and amazing that her friend would make such a bold move towards the boy she was interested in. Uraraka started floating, unable to believe what she was seeing. She started to feel sick but this time it wasn’t because she was overusing her quirk.
Izuku was completely stunned, “H-H-H-H-ow did Tsuyu end up in my bed?”, he said. He practically shouted out that last statement but as no one else was on the second floor of the dorm at that time no one else heard him. His loud voice forced the frog girl to finally begin waking up. She slowly opened her eyes and looked up towards Izuku and then to the group of three standing in Midoriya’s room. With her eyes half opened, she rubbed her hands against them trying to wipe away the sleep from them.
Ashido looked at Asui and smiled thinking just how adorable she looked with that expression on her face. Even Uraraka could not help but feel a little better after seeing Tsuyu’s sleepy expression, if only just for a moment. Iida was still having difficulty deciphering just what was going on in Izuku’s room.
Tsuyu finally sat up and was now fully aware of where she was, “Why are you all here in Midoriya’s room?”
Finally, the engine turned over and Iida blurted out, “I think it would be more accurate for us to ask you that question Asui.”
Tsuyu slowly blinked, still not completely awake, and responded, “Please, call me Tsu.”
Uraraka, finally back on the ground, moved in front of Tenya to stand next to the bed and while looking Tsuyu in the eyes asked, “Tsu, why are you in Deku’s b-b-bed? Don’t tell me you slept here last night?” Uraraka was visibly shaking due to the uncomfortable feeling that question aroused in her. The thought, ‘They are just friends.’ kept repeating in her mind over and over. Ashido noticed Uraraka’s state and gently placed her hand on her shoulder. While Ashido was definitely aboard the Tsuyu train, ‘I need to come up with a cute nickname for them’ she thought, she did care deeply for Uraraka and did not want to see her get hurt.
Tsuyu now stood up from the bed, “It was extremely cold and I think my survival instincts kicked in. I knew from a previous incident that Midoriya produces a lot of extra body heat so I think that is why I subconsciously came her.” Now that was true, but it was only part of the truth. Even though Tsuyu did not completely understand her feelings for the green haired boy, if she was being honest, she would say she had begun to look at him as more than just a good friend.
Uraraka was now frozen. Ashido looked at her and waved her open palm in front of her face a few times but there was no reaction. She looked over at Iida and shrugged her shoulders to indicate she was not sure why Ochaco was acting this way. Iida also was now looking at Tsuyu with a puzzled look on his face, as if he was trying to recall some information from deep in his mind. He pounded a fist in his other open hand shouting, “A-ha! I have it.”
Ashido tilted her head and with a quizzical look on her face, “Have what?”
Iida, smiling due to his recalled discovery, replied, “I know why Uraraka froze up. Tsuyu is wearing Midoriya’s ‘T-shirt’ shirt”. For a moment, his smile held, basking in his own cleverness. The smile quickly dispersed as he understood the ramifications of the image in front of him. “Midoriya”, the engine quirk user said with a quiet but stern voice,” why is young Asui wearing your shirt?” For a moment he was channeling their teacher and favorite hero, All Might. His choice of words caused even greater confusion in the pink haired girl’s mind until she also began to see more clearly what she thought was happening here.
“Uh-um”, Ashido cleared her throat and leaned forward, staring the frog girl in the eyes, “Care to tell us the meaning behind this choice of attire, young Asui.” Ashido could not hold back her laughter any further, as she practically spat out the last two words in laughter. Iida did not take Mina’s mocking kindly.
Ashido waved him off, “I’m just having a little fun Iida.” The acid quirk user sighed, “In all seriousness, why are you wearing his shirt?”
Tsuyu placed her finger on her chin and thought, finally shrugging her shoulders. “I do not know why, perhaps I was shivering and Midoriya, being a true gentleman, gave me the shirt off his back.” Tsu blushed a little at the thought and then when she turned and looked at Izuku, she blushed even more.
Tsuyu was starting to feel a little chill in the air and though she wanted more than anything to cuddle up next to her warm friend she knew that she should leave to get ready for the day, lest the red blush currently inhabiting Izuku’s cheeks, and her own, become permanent residents.
As Tsuyu walked out the door, the other three stood in silence. Izuku sighed, “I am grateful for everyone’s concern but could you please leave so I can get dressed.”
Iida pushed his glasses up on his face, “We have many questions but they can wait for now, but you will have to answer them eventually.” He turned rather sharply and practically marched out of the room. He was followed by Ashido, who was gently pushing Uraraka in front of her. Ashido turned as she headed out the door, “Way to go stud. I never thought you would have it in you.” She winked at him, showing a mischievous grin and closed the door behind her.
Midoriya sighed again. The bed still felt warm were Tsuyu had been laying. He laid his head back on his pillow trying to gather his thoughts. He could not quite recall the details of the previous night but he knew he would need to as he thought, ‘There is no way any of them are going to let this go without some explanation’.
His final thoughts on the matter drifted to the girl who had occupied his bed this past evening. Asui Tsuyu, a girl he admired due to her strength, will, calm demeanor and dependability. He thought highly of her as a potential hero, a classmate, and a friend but another thought had started creeping into his mind over the past month or so. He noticed his cheeks felt warmer whenever he looked at her or if he noticed she was looking at him. He also knew that he was thinking more about her when she was not around. ‘This is probably just the influence of Ashido’, he thought.
He shook his head to clear out what felt like mental cobwebs and he rose from his bed heading to his bathroom. ‘I need to wake myself up and get ready for the day. There is so much to do and time waits for no one’, he thought as he closed the bathroom door behind him.

Ashido Mina stood outside Midoriya Izuku’s room, giggling to herself. Her friend, Uraraka, had finally gathered her senses and wandered off, muttering about needing a cold shower. Ashido did feel bad for Ochaco, as she knew how the gravity user felt towards Izuku but she also couldn’t help but be happy for her green haired friend. Ashido Mina was many things, outgoing, vivacious, friendly, and stubborn. She was also very nosey, though she would describe it as being curious or inquisitive, and she was definitely going to get involved in making sure that these two get together. ‘The Green Team? Nah, but that might make a good hero team name for them. I will have to keep thinking of a better couple name.’ She wandered down the hall toward the elevator whistling happily thinking of all the ways she could help.
