Work Text:
Gojou was above exhausted when he opened the door to the apartment he shared with you. His hair that was usually neat was out of place, his eyes glint with grief instead of tease and by the look on his face, you already know he needs one hell of a pampered night. so you did what you're best at: taking care of him.
First, you greeted him with an open arms and a wide smile, welcoming him back home but he only passed by your overly worried figure without even glancing at you. Then, you told him you would prepare a bath for him to relax, only to be dismissed by his waving hand and he sternly said, "i'm going to sleep." Being the good girlfriend you are, you disagree because he smelled like he just got back from the gym (with a hint of blood and metal), and the smell was not nice at all.
He glared at you, the first warning to leave him alone, but you ignore it and slipped into the bathroom in your shared bedroom. He followed quietly, probably too tired to complain and lay down on the king sized bed. You filled the bath tub with warm water, not forgetting to drop in a vanilla and musky bath bomb you know he loved.
When you walked into the empty bedroom (that only consists a very large bed in the middle, a mirror desk he bought for you, and a drawer of your extra things,) he was already deep in his sleep. Of course, you weren't going to give up the idea of cleaning him up. So you giggled not-so-cutely and nudge the man laying on his bed softly. He frowned, the second warning, but he still stood up, walking to the already made bath waiting for him.
You smiled, glad that he was cooperating although you knew he was tired as fuck. Gojou Satoru was rarely like this. He was strong- heck- even the strongest sorcerer you've ever known and heard of. It was still a wonder how he's still your boyfriend (or how he became your boyfriend), but you were grateful to have him by your side.
Sure, not everyday was he home but the thought of him alone comforts you. He was everything you even wanted and now gotten, so the least you can do is take a good care of him. That doesn't exclude his grumpy side that he never showed anyone else, though. He always win all of the fights he had, but this one was rougher than all of he ever had. Fighting with his ex-bestfriend, Getou, was never easy.
It's not like Getou was overwhelmingly strong- no. It was more to a feeling of pity that would surround him whenever he faces one of his buddy (now ex-buddy of course). You didn't question him, but you know he have his own bad days too, and he hates to show it to anyone else, that includes you. He hates being reminded that he too, is a human like the rest of the humanity and not a curse. That was why he would be fierce whenever something triggered him.
You grew to get used of it now, so you didn't really mind when you walked back in the bathroom, only to hear him mutter some bad things of himself. He was vulnerable, but you were there for him. always.
You took him by surprise when you hold his hand, massaging it a little, a habit you got whenever gojou was tired. He frowned, but didn't say anything to decline your affection. Instead, he looked away, to the wide open window that was placed right next to the bath tub (crazy, you know, but he insists the thrill of someone seeing would be fun). Your hand is now on his shoulder, you pouted at how tense he is.
He moaned, (nothing explicit but it would still be a huge turn on if he was not so stressed out) and let out a heavy sigh. "Bad day?" You asked him softly, mumbling a little when you realise how nervous you are from the thought of annoying him. He didn't answer, but instead look at you sharply, the third warning to not piss him off again.
So you shut the fuck up, and continue massaging your dear boyfriend to loosen him up. You didn't realise how fast the time goes, only to stop when you hear him snoring. You smiled, patting his hair away from his face to watch his beautiful face. You let out a heavy breath, now this is what you needed the most. For him to be at peace, for him to be right by your side and not a cold apartment to greet you every time you come home from work.
The thought of blaming his work crossed your mind, but you know it was selfish of you to ask more from him. After all, how could you be so ungrateful when he was the one who put a roof on top of your head, when he was the one who basically feeds you all of the foods (indirectly) you've eaten for the past two years? How could you, you asked yourself.
You stared at him for another five minutes until his head started to nod on his own, a silly gesture you loved about watching him sleep. You rubbed his hand slowly, trying to wake him up. "Baby," you whispered. He opened one of his eyes, but it was cold, and you know that was the last string he had left.
"Can't you see I'm tired? If I wanna sleep at the toilet I could," he snapped. You rubbed his hand again, a gesture to tell him to go to bed (he understood) before walking out of the bedroom to the kitchen. You took a deep breath slowly, your eyes threatening to cry, but you refused. You couldn't cry- no, you shouldn't. He didn't even yell at you and all you did was over-react about it.
You were rarely the soft ones, but you just couldn't handle it when someone snap at you, even if you know it was unintentional. You would blame yourself for it, you really would but at the moment you were just tired and all you wanted- all you needed was your boyfriend and him alone. It is not his fault for anything but you couldn't help it and blame him. You blame him for his lack of presence at home, you blame him for the affection you haven't gotten in two months, and you're blaming him for just- doing nothing.
It was always fine for you whenever he acts cold, but is it really fine? Were you not craving your love languages from him? The answer is: you know you do. What kind of girlfriend would hate it when their boyfriend showed love, but what kind of girlfriend would you be if you hated how empty you feel without him? To that, you don't know.
Being in a relationship with the most powerful sorcerer alive has its consequences. You were banned from going anywhere without telling him, you were not allowed to meet anyone else except him, nanami and his few students, and you for sure were lonely. Study, work, home. That's all you did for the past years and you thought it was everything you could ask from him, considering he was doing everything to keep you safe, but is it really what you want?
You sighed, tears are definitely flowing like a stream on storm without even looking at the mirror. You were not ready to see him yet, so you hoped he wouldn't search for you in the middle of finally letting it all out. Why are you being so pathetic, you thought to yourself, and wipe all of the liquid you had on your face. Breath in... Breath out. You washed your face at the sink of the kitchen and wiped it off with a tissue that sat neatly on the counter table.
Memories suddenly started to flood in to when you were three months in the relationship. Gojou was sitting opposite of you, staring at your eyes with such admiration. You could feel your cheeks burning hot, but you shrugged it off with a teasing smile, "am i that pretty to look at?" He laughed, throwing his head back dramatically.
"No, you just look so perfect when you're eating." He replied with a smirk, clearly trying to push you to the edge. You played with the food in your plate, suddenly too flustered to process anything. If he noticed, he sure as hell were not quiet about it.
"Oh, did i make my baby shy?" He chuckled. "Look at her, so beautiful for me." You glared at him, not scaring him at all but instead, he teased you about it. "Shut the fuck up, Satoru- or i will shove my chopstick down your ass,"
"Ooh, kinky."
You sighed once again, you already forgot when was the last time both of you ate together- when was the last time he actually sat with you. You wondered if you and him could have another meal together in the future. You shook your head. You had enough- you had enough of worrying about something you were not even sure about.
So then again, you did what you're actually best at: pretending everything was okay. You walked slowly towards your shared bedroom, opening the door ever-so-slowly, because you know he was already asleep as you could hear his snore from the living room. You baby-stepped your steps, approaching the very sensitive love of your life. The white haired man shifts a little, startling you when you were about to lay under the blanket.
"Baby?" He murmured softly, his voice deep and raspy from the sleep he had a little. You froze but smiled nonetheless, patting his head to reassure him that you indeed was there. You were always there for him, and you could never leave. He didn't know that, that's what you thought. Instead, he hold your waist and pulled you closer to him, invading the infinity that exists between the two of you, but he didn't mind.
He just nuzzled into your hair, sighing in relief when he confirmed the fact that you were really there with him. He kissed your hair line, squeezing his grip he had around you before whispering a short but sweet, "love you." Ah, this is what it's about, you sighed, leaning into his chest. This is why you stayed, because after everything he had done to you, after all the cold shoulders he gave you, Gojou Satoru cannot sleep without the love of his life, and you realised you were over-reacting in the first place.
You realised, without you, your boyfriend wouldn't be at peace and sleep was important to him (surprisingly). Therefore, it was no doubt you are as well, even if you had to endure the ache in your heart. You know damn well that even if you had to go through hell to get him, you would still stay. You would always stay and Gojou fucking Satoru knows it too. That you matter to him, and no one else.
