Work Text:

Hoseok couldn’t believe this was happening. He couldn’t believe that he was getting on a train with two large suitcases full of belongings that made up his entire life. He couldn’t believe he was forced to leave his hometown of Gwangju. He couldn’t believe that he would have to call Daegu his home, and that he would have to call Min Yoongi his husband.

Husband.

That word left a bitter taste in Hoseok’s mouth. He always wanted to get married, but not like this. He was twenty-four years old, so he thought he still had time to find someone and settle down with them before he got married. He thought he had time, but his parents didn’t have time. It was their dying wish that Hoseok accepted the arranged marriage to Yoongi so that their son would be taken care of when they were gone.

He heard that Min Yoongi was a wealthy man that was looking for a companion, but Hoseok had a feeling that wasn’t the case. Yoongi was supposed to be young, which meant he probably had the same mindset as Hoseok. Yoongi probably wasn’t looking to get married at a young age, so someone or something must have forced him into this, into an arranged marriage.

Hoseok didn’t know how his parents found Yoongi, but he trusted them to arrange a marriage with a kind and loving man. Hoseok had heard stories of how arranged marriages never really work because the two people meet, and they don’t feel anything for each other. He prayed with everything that he was that Yoongi was someone who was looking to fall in love with their arranged partner.

He hopped off the train and had to do a double take when he saw a man holding up a sign, Min Hoseok. Hoseok didn’t know how he felt about losing his last name and taking another. He sighed, he would have to get used to it. This was going to be his life now. He was going to be a Min, so he had to let go of his Jung last name. He would have to lose a piece of himself and he would have to learn to be okay with it.

He padded across the way to the man holding the sign. He gave a bright smile as he introduced himself, “Hi, I’m Jung Hoseok… or, well, I was. I’m marrying Min Yoongi. Did he send you to bring me to him?”

“Yes. Right this way, sir.”

Sir. That was so formal. Hoseok didn’t like that very much but there was no time to correct the other male. Hoseok allowed the other male to grab one of his suitcases and then they were on their way through the station. Hoseok stuck close to the other man as they maneuvered their way through the crowds. Hoseok had to do a double take when he realized that he was being led to a black Range Rover. Hoseok had never been this close to a car that nice in his entire life, and now he was going to ride in one.

The ride through Daegu was awkward, to say the least. The other male didn’t turn on the radio, nor did he try to engage Hoseok in small talk. The little brunette shifted his weight so he was resting his head against the window. He looked out the window and admired the new city that he would have to call home. Everything was going to be brand new to him. He was starting to feel overwhelmed, but he pushed those feelings away.

Hoseok was brought out of his thoughts when he car stopped in front of a gated community. The driver unrolled his window and spoke to the gatekeeper before they were allowed in. Hoseok’s jaw dropped as they passed some of the fanciest looking houses he had ever seen. Never once in Hoseok’s life did he think that he would be living in a gated community with all the rich people.

He gasped when he saw the house that they were pulling into. It was a grand white house with two large columns by the front door. There had to be some sort of mix up. Jung Hoseok was not someone who lived in an enormous house like this. Jung Hoseok was someone who lived in a cozy little house surrounded by neighbors who waved at him when he came home. Jung Hoseok was someone who was minimalistic but could appreciate the finer things in life. This might be too fine for him, though.

Hoseok hopped out of the car and was handed his two suitcases. He gulped as he dragged his luggage towards the front door. He felt his palms growing sweaty as he released his bags. He was really doing this. He was really going to ring the doorbell and become a part of a stranger’s life. He was really going to go through with this arranged marriage. He was really going to start over. He took a deep breath and rang the doorbell. He waited a moment before he heard the pitter patter of feet running towards the door, and that’s when he felt like he got tackled by a little football player.

“Mommy’s home!”

Hoseok froze when he felt two small arms wrap around his middle. Mommy’s home. Hoseok looked down and saw a child with luscious black hair. His face was pressed into his stomach, nuzzling the fabric of his shirt. The little boy looked up and shot Hoseok the most adorable boxy smile. Hoseok cooed as he picked up the child and held him in his arms. He knew he was supposed to try to fall in love with Yoongi, but this little guy was stealing his heart and he didn’t even know his name.

“Taehyung, what have I told you-“

Hoseok looked up in time to meet another male’s gaze. The other male had platinum blonde hair and hooded eyes like a cat. His eyes looked distant and cold, but they were  a lovely deep brown shade. He was dressed in a pair of joggers and an oversized sweatshirt, both of which were black. Hoseok wasn’t one to judge, but he didn’t understand how someone who dressed so casual lived in a house like this. Despite the dark choice of clothing, Hoseok thought that this man was absolutely handsome. This must be Min Yoongi.

Meanwhile, Yoongi was at a loss for words. Taehyung normally didn’t take to strangers, but here he was in the arms of the little brunette. The stranger was indeed small. He was an inch or two smaller than Yoongi and he had a tiny waist that begged for someone to wrap their arms around it. The other male had light brown hair that was parted in the middle to reveal more of his honey toned forehead. His eyes were like two pools of melted chocolate and Yoongi had to resist the urge to dive into them. This man was stunning. This must be Jung Hoseok.

“Uh, hey, you must be Hoseok.”

“Yeah, yeah, I’m Hoseok. Are you Yoongi?”

“Yeah, that’s me. Can you come in and sign something?”

“Oh, yeah, sure.”

They were so awkward that even Taehyung cringed in Hoseok’s arms. Yoongi reached behind Hoseok and grabbed his bags, hauling them into the house. Hoseok held Taehyung close to him as he entered the house. The floors were made of beautiful white tile with grey veins in it. He could hear Yoongi’s shoes clicking against the tile as he walked towards the kitchen. Hoseok remained silent as he followed the other male. His eyes widened when he saw that there was paperwork on the large island.

These were for their marriage.

Yoongi reached in his pocket and pulled out a pen. He rolled it across the table for Hoseok. He nodded towards the paperwork as he stated, “Yeah, just sign on the line under my name and I’ll get our… our marriage settled with the court. I’ll get that straightened out on my way to work so don’t worry about it.”

Hoseok simply nodded, not trusting his voice. He sighed as he signed the paperwork like Yoongi instructed. It felt like he was signing his life away. He was signing a piece of paper so that he could be married to the man standing across from him. Once he was done, he slid the paper towards the platinum blonde. Yoongi snatched the paper, not even bothering to look over Hoseok’s signature.

“Cool, well, I see you’ve met my kid,” Yoongi was nearly emotionless, “Taehyung is five years old and you’re going to be his other parent. I heard him call you ‘mommy’ but you can be whatever you want to him. You can be my husband or my wife. Whatever you want. I honestly could care less.”

Hoseok didn’t know what to make of all of this. One minute he thought he was just going to marry Yoongi and now he was going to be married to a stranger while also becoming a parent to his kid. This was a lot to take in. He didn’t know he was signing up to be a parent. He was about to start hyperventilating until he felt Taehyung wrap his arms around his neck to hug him.

“You’re my mommy, aren’t you?”

Those little words brought Hoseok out of his thoughts. He wanted to cry from sheer happiness. He gave a smile as he answered sweetly, “Of course I’m your mommy! I’m sorry I was away from home for so long but I’m here now, Taehyung. Mommy’s here and we’re going to have so much fun together! Why don’t you go to your room and find some games for us to play, yeah?”

Taehyung was beaming as he nodded back. Hoseok placed the little boy on the ground and smiled as he watched him run down the hall. As soon as Taehyung was out of view, Hoseok’s eyes shifted to Yoongi. The other male was currently gathering his belongings in a black backpack, no doubt he was about to leave. Yoongi slung the backpack over a shoulder as he turned to Hoseok.

“So, what are you? My wife or my husband?”

“You’d let me be your wife?”

“I don’t give a fuck.”

“Uh, okay, I’ll be your wife.”

Yoongi gave an unenthusiastic thumbs up as he passed the brunette. Yoongi turned around and called, “Yah, I would’ve called a babysitter, but I knew you were coming today. It’ll give you time to get to know your son. I’ll be back late so if you’re up we can talk about this fuckery. Don’t sleep in my room. I’m not sharing my bed. Have Taehyung show you around and you can pick any of the rooms you want. You probably already know, but I don’t give a fuck.”

Hoseok was about to ask him a question but Yoongi twirled around and was out the door. Hoseok stood there absolutely dumbfounded. First of all, who the fuck leaves their kid with a complete stranger? That screamed bad parenting. Second, how the hell could Yoongi leave him like this? They just met so Hoseok had a lot of questions and it seemed he wouldn’t get them answered until Yoongi came back. If Yoongi came back. Hoseok didn’t know this man or his tendencies.

Hoseok sunk to his knees, feeling overwhelmed by everything. He was about to start crying until he heard Taehyung running towards him. He looked up in time to see the child pouncing on him, knocking him onto the floor. Hoseok couldn’t help but laugh along with the child. It seemed that Taehyung had a lot of energy and a lot of love to give, making him such a good match for Hoseok.

“What did you bring out, Taehyung?”

“Mommy, will you call me Tae?”

“Of course, I will!”

The child nuzzled his face into Hoseok’s chest before he bounced off of him. Taehyung grabbed his stuffed animal lion and smiled, “I couldn’t pick one game, mommy! I want to play them all with you now that you’re back! Oh! But dad told me that I should show you around! Hold my hand, mommy!”

Taehyung was giving Hoseok a cuteness overload with the way he made a grabby hand at his mom. Hoseok smiled as he took the little hand. He giggled as Taehyung pulled him down the hall. The child dragged him into every room in the house, aside from Yoongi’s room. Hoseok thought it was amusing how Taehyung felt the need to tell him what he was supposed to do in each room.

Taehyung looked up at the older male and gave his boxy smile, “This is a bedroom, mommy! This is where you sleep! Oh! And that’s the bathroom! Dad calls it the oval office… whatever that means! Oh, come here! This is the kitchen! This is where you’re going to cook, mommy!”

“Oh? Is that so, Tae?”

“Mommy is the best cook!”

“You wanna bake cookies with mommy?”

“Can we, mommy? Can we?”

“Of course, baby.”

Taehyung wasted no time in rushing around the kitchen to grab all the ingredients and tools needed. Hoseok’s movements were shy and uncertain. He was still new to his house. It didn’t feel right for him to go rummaging around in Yoongi’s home. Taehyung looked at his parent and tilted his head in confusion.

“Don’t you know how to make cookies, mommy?”

Hoseok was pulled out of his thoughts when he heard that soft voice. He smiled down at the child, “Oh, of course, Tae. I was just thinking about how we need some aprons if we’re going to be bakers today! Do you want to be mommy’s little helper? Do you want to be mommy’s good boy?”

“I’m a good boy!”

“The best boy, Tae.”

Hoseok watched as the child ran off towards the pantry to find aprons. If someone had told Hoseok that he was going to be a parent today, he would’ve laughed. But now that he was here in the moment about to bake cookies with a little boy who was going to be his son, he felt whole. He felt like he had a purpose. He felt happiness he had never experienced before. They had spent less than an hour together, but Taehyung held his heart in his tiny hands. Hoseok was smitten for the child. It took less than an hour for Hoseok to fall in love with his son.

When Taehyung returned to him, he hugged him. Hoseok gasped in surprise when he felt something tighten around him. He looked down and saw Taehyung grinning as he tied part of the apron around his waist. Hoseok gave a bright smile as he grabbed the apron and slung it around his neck. He lowered himself and smiled as he helped the little boy into the apron. Once the apron was fastened around Taehyung, the older male picked him up and placed him on the kitchen island.

“Are you going to help me pour the flour, Tae?”

“You’d let me do that, mommy?!”

“Of course! You’re my little helper, aren’t you?”

“I’m mommy’s helper!”

The little brunette smiled as he poured the flour into a measuring cup. He handed the cup to the child and laughed when he got flour on himself in the process of emptying it in the bowl. Taehyung looked up when he heard his parent laughing. He tilted his head in confusion until he looked down to see that he had some flour on his apron. Taehyung had a devious smile on his face as he reached for the bag of flour and threw some at Hoseok’s face. Hoseok closed his eyes and yelped when the flour smacked him in the face. Taehyung gasped, waiting for Hoseok to tell him he was bad for doing that. Taehyung looked up at his parent with wide eyes.

Hoseok smiled.

He snatched some four from the bag and gently threw it at Taehyung’s face. The two of them giggled as they tossed flour back and forth until their faces were splattered with the substance. Hoseok was giggling as he reached forward and brushed some of the flour off of Taehyung’s face. Taehyung grabbed his parent’s hand and squeezed it. He had his precious boxy smile on his face.

“I’m happy you’re home, mommy.”

“I’m happy I’m with you, Tae.”

Hoseok meant those words. He wouldn’t say that he was happy to be home because this house didn’t feel like home just yet. He would say that he’s happy to be with Taehyung because the little boy filled him with joy he never thought he would feel again. After the loss of his parents, he didn’t think he would ever smile this big or this much with another person. But Taehyung entered his life and somehow everything felt okay.

The two of them were surprised when they heard a loud thud outside of the house. Hoseok immediately went into protective parent mode. He grabbed Taehyung and placed him on the ground, “Taehyung, I need you to stay down here and out of sight, okay? I don’t know who’s trying to get in, but I’ll keep you safe. Mommy won’t let anything bad happen to you, okay? Stay here for mommy.”

Taehyung nodded and sat down on the floor, bringing his knees to his chest. Hoseok kissed his head, trying to provide a sense of comfort. He quickly moved to the cabinets until he found his weapon of choice, a frying pan. He slowly approached the door, gasping when he heard someone outside jiggling the door handle like they were trying to get in. Hoseok was starting to freak out. He knew that wasn’t Yoongi because he said he was going to be back late. Yoongi also had a key so there was no reason for him to struggle to get in. The lock to the door clicked and that’s when a tall man with brown hair walked in.

That’s when Hoseok attacked.

He cried out as he swung the frying pan at the man’s stomach, causing him to topple over onto his hands and knees. Hoseok wasn’t done with this intruder just yet. He cranked back and smashed the frying pan on the stranger’s back. The man curled up in a ball to protect himself as Hoseok kept hitting him with the frying pan. Taehyung poked his head around the island and grinned at the sight.

“Get him, mommy! Get him!”

“God, I hate Yoongi!”

As soon as the intruder mentioned Yoongi’s name, Hoseok stopped. He pointed the frying pan at the cowering stranger as he questioned, “You said Yoongi, didn’t you? How do you know him? What’s your relationship to him and why are you breaking into his house?!”

The man rolled onto his back, wincing in pain as he looked up to see Hoseok hovering over him with his deadly frying pan. The stranger gulped and held up his hands, “Please, don’t hit me again. I’m Kim Namjoon and I work with Yoongi! He forgot something back at his house so on my way to work I told him I’d pick it up. He didn’t tell me he’d have a pretty security guard working today, though!”

“Oh… oh my God, I’m so sorry!”

Hoseok quickly placed the frying pan on the island so his hands would be free to help Namjoon back to his feet. He brushed off Namjoon’s clothes as he apologized, “Aish, I’m so sorry! Yoongi didn’t tell me anyone else had keys to the house so I thought you were someone trying to break in! Are you hurt? I can have Tae bring out a first aid kit if you need it!”

“Wait, are you Hoseok? Yoongi’s husband?”

“I prefer wife.”

“Oh, wow, it’s so nice to meet you!”

“I wish your first impression of me was better.”

Taehyung giggled as he raced out from the island and grabbed Hoseok’s right leg. He lifted him into his arms and smiled at him, “You were such a good boy, Tae! Mommy told you to stay put and you did! You’re such a good listener! I heard you cheering for mommy, too! Are you my little helper and my cheerleader?”

Namjoon felt his heart melting at the sight of Taehyung giggling as he nodded in response to the praise. Namjoon smiled as he asked, “How long have you been here for? Taehyung usually doesn’t listen to anyone, isn’t that right?”

Taehyung hid his face in Hoseok’s neck in an effort to avoid Namjoon’s question. Hoseok shook his head and answered, “Actually, I just got here today. I’ve been here for a few hours and Taehyung has just been the sweetest little boy, haven’t you?”

The child nodded against his parent, poking his head out to smile. Namjoon’s jaw nearly dropped when he heard that Hoseok had only been here for a few hours. In the few short years that Namjoon had known Taehyung, he was a rebel child. He didn’t listen to anyone, even Yoongi sometimes. He would protest eating when it was dinner time, and he threw a fit every time he had to take a nap. Going to bed was terrible because Taehyung would scream and cry until he tired himself out. Seeing Taehyung be so sweet and obedient was something Namjoon was not used to.

“Hoseok, you know you two have flour on your faces?”

“Oh! Yeah, we sort of got into a flour fight. I won.”

Namjoon laughed when Taehyung placed his little hands on Hoseok’s face, “Not ah, mommy! Your face is covered in flour! You look like a ghost! Read the room, mommy, ghosts aren’t allowed until Halloween! It’s not spooky season, yet!”

Hoseok laughed as he leaned in and rubbed his cheek against Taehyung’s, forcing the flour on his face to transfer over to the small child. Namjoon watched as the two of them laughed together. They looked like a family. They looked like they had been together since Taehyung’s birth. If anyone else saw them, they could see the love and adoration for each other in their eyes. Hoseok was new to this life, but he welcomed Taehyung into his without a second thought.

“Oh, Namjoon, you said you needed something?”

“Right! Yoongi left some papers in his room.”

“You’re more than welcome to grab them.”

While Namjoon made his way to Yoongi’s room, Hoseok walked with Taehyung to the island. He let Taehyung jump out of his arms so he could sit on the table. Taehyung was jittering with excitement as Hoseok brought out the eggs for them to crack. Hoseok handed an egg to Taehyung to crack. Taehyung was struggling to crack the egg against the bowl, causing him to look up at his parent with tears glistening in his eyes.

“Here, let mommy help you, Tae.”

Namjoon walked into the kitchen just in time to see Hoseok help Taehyung crack the egg. Hoseok allowed the egg to remain in Taehyung’s hands so he could feel like he was still in control. He placed his hands over Taehyung’s smaller ones and helped him to apply the necessary amount of force needed to crack the egg against the bowl. Namjoon couldn’t help but smile as he saw Taehyung’s boxy smile activate. The way Taehyung looked at Hoseok was beautiful. It was like he was complete now that he had Hoseok there to support and love him.

The little brunette looked up to see Namjoon smiling from the hall. Hoseok grabbed a long wooden spoon and instructed Taehyung to mix the eggs into the flour as he walked Namjoon out. Hoseok and Namjoon stood together by the front door, smiling back at one another.

“You’re good with him, Hoseok.”

“Thank you. You know, you can call me Hobi.”

“Hobi? Okay, then call me Joon.”

“I guess we’re not strangers anymore, then.”

Namjoon and Hoseok smiled as they shook each other’s hands. It felt like they were truly meeting each other now. The taller male nodded to Hoseok as he left the house with the paper in hand. Hoseok watched from the doorway as Namjoon made his way to his car. He closed the door and retuned to Taehyung, not noticing how his newfound friend was texting Yoongi in the car.

Namjoon

How could you not tell me your wife came today?!

I didn’t know so I didn’t knock, and then…

HE HIT ME WITH A FRYING PAN

MANY TIMES

Yoongi

My wife came today

Knock before you enter

He’s armed with a frying pan

He will hit you with it many times

Namjoon

You’re the worst, hyung

Yoongi

lol

My wife beat your ass

Namjoon

God, I hate you

Yoongi

Pussy

Yoongi didn’t plan on coming home at a reasonable hour, but Namjoon made him leave so he could talk to Hoseok about everything. Yoongi stepped into the house and furrowed his brow when he saw a plate sitting out on the kitchen island. He walked towards it and his eyes widened. It was a plate of cookies with a note. He picked up the note and immediately recognized Taehyung’s messy handwriting.

Mommy and I made cookies for you, dad!

<3 Taehyung

He smiled fondly at the note and tucked it into his pocket. He stuffed a cookie into his mouth and nearly moaned at the delicious taste. He grabbed another cookie and started to walk down the hall to see if Hoseok was struggling to get Taehyung ready for bed. Yoongi knew how much of a little terror his son could be when it was bedtime. Yoongi found it odd that he didn’t hear any screeching or crying coming from Taehyung’s room.

Yoongi shoveled the cookie into his mouth as he leaned against the door frame. He could fight the smile etching itself on his face at the sight before him. Hoseok was holding a sleepy Taehyung in his arms, swaying back and forth with him. Taehyung was struggling to keep his eyes open. He looked like he wanted to stay awake but the need for sleep was overpowering him. The little brunette turned and pressed a kiss to Taehyung’s head, which the child leaned into and smiled.

Hoseok continued to look at the little boy in his arms. He nuzzled his face into his hair and then pulled away to sing him a lullaby, Goodnight, goodnight, it’s time now to sleep. The moon’s watching over you and your dreams. Goodnight, goodnight, my sweet little one. Tomorrow your eyes, they will light up the sun.”

The way Hoseok held Taehyung was so loving and delicate. It was like he was holding a child made of glass. Yoongi watched as Hoseok walked over to Taehyung’s bed and placed the child under the covers. He was humming a tune Yoongi was unfamiliar with as he tucked Taehyung in. Yoongi watched as Taehyung reached for Hoseok’s face, whispering something to him. Hoseok smiled as he nodded back to the child, murmuring a response.

Hoseok was running his hands through those raven locks as he lulled the child to sleep, “Goodnight, goodnight, sweet dreams for now. Drift off to sleep on your pillow of clouds. Goodnight, goodnight, my sweet little friend. Tomorrow’s adventures, they will soon begin. Tomorrow’s adventures will soon begin…”

The platinum haired male’s eyes softened when he saw Hoseok lean down and place a chaste kiss to Taehyung’s forehead. He reached for the lamp beside Taehyung’s bed and turned the light off. Hoseok tip toed out of the room, giving one last longing look to the little boy who had become his whole heart. He closed the door and nearly screamed when he saw Yoongi behind him.

Yoongi placed a hand over Hoseok’s mouth to prevent him from screaming in fear. Yoongi leaned in and whispered harshly, “You didn’t just do all that to ruin it by screaming so keep quiet! Keep it together and calm the fuck down, okay?”

Hoseok vigorously nodded, gasping when Yoongi finally removed his hand. The platinum blonde made a motion with his hand, signaling for Hoseok to follow him. Hoseok was starting to feel himself growing shy as he trailed after the other male. They sat down on the couch in the living room, but neither of them looked at each other. Yoongi rummaged around in his pants pocket and then pulled out a silver band. He held the ring out for Hoseok to take, but the little brunette was hesitant. Yoongi cocked an eyebrow.

“What are you waiting for?”

“Oh, uh, I just thought you’d propose, I guess.”

“We’re already married so just take the ring.”

“Do you have one, too?”

Hoseok felt a spark when his hand touched Yoongi’s, but he ignored it. Yoongi pulled his left hand out from his hoodie’s pocket to reveal a matching silver band, “Yeah, we’re married so naturally I have a ring, too. That’s sort of how marriage works. I’m not proposing to you in some romantic way. That’s not my style.”

The little brunette felt tears stinging at his eyes as he slipped the ring onto his finger. It fit like a glove, but it didn’t feel right. Hoseok thought that he would meet someone who would propose in some grand romantic gesture, not some moody little platinum blonde handing him a ring and basically saying “deal with it.” Hoseok blinked back the tears. He didn’t want to cry in front of Yoongi, fearing that it would make the other male mad.

“You know,” Yoongi was staring at his feet, “I didn’t want this, either. I was fine the way I was. My parents can’t seem to mind their own fucking business. Every time they think I’m missing something in my life… boom, here’s an adopted kid. Boom, here’s an arranged marriage. I’m not lonely. I’m just antisocial as fuck because 90% of the people out there are fucking stupid so I prefer to spend my time alone.”

Hoseok slowly nodded back. He could tell Yoongi needed to talk about this, so he let him, “Don’t get me wrong, I love Taehyung, but I wasn’t ready for him. I made it work, though. I had to. He kept asking why he only had me… why he only had a dad. I kept telling him that his mother was away, but she would come back to him. I didn’t think he’d call you his mom.”

“It’s okay. I like it.”

“Good. It’s too late to change it now.”

He bit his lip to prevent himself from laughing at Yoongi’s words. The platinum blonde turned to Hoseok as he groaned, “We’re stuck together now so just try not to annoy me too much. I’ll take care of you and you take care of Taehyung while I’m working. Don’t expect to get close to me. I don’t do love. You might be my wife, but I don’t love you.”

Hoseok nodded and stood up, trying to leave the room so Yoongi wouldn’t see him crying. Hoseok covered his mouth with his hand as he squeaked, “Understood. I’ll only talk to you when it’s absolutely necessary. No getting to know each other to make this easier on one another. Got it. I’ll try not to bother you. I’m sorry me coming into your life is such an inconvenience to you.”

“Hoseok, wait-“

“Goodnight, Yoongi.”

The little brunette scurried down the hall and into his new room. He sunk to the floor and brought his knees to his chest. He tried to sob as quietly as possible, as to not wake up Taehyung or bother Yoongi. Hoseok didn’t know what he was expecting when he got roped into this arranged marriage, but he wasn’t expecting this. He wasn’t expecting to be tied down to a coldhearted man with an adopted son who made him feel like life was worth living.

He felt conflicted.

On one side there was Yoongi, who made him feel like he was nothing more than an unavoidable irritation. On the other side, there was Taehyung, who made him feel like he had a greater purpose in life. His heart ached as that little conversation with Taehyung before he fell asleep played over and over in his head.

“You’ll still be here when I wake up, right, mommy?”

“I’m not going anywhere, Tae.”

He had to try to make this work. His parents wanted him to be taken care of by another, so Hoseok had to try to be grateful and kind to Yoongi, even though he wanted nothing to do with him. Hoseok didn’t think Yoongi was going to ever be his husband. Maybe one day they could be roommates or friends, but not husbands. If Yoongi couldn’t find it in him to love another then there was no hope of their marriage being anything like Hoseok thought it would be.

He could hear Yoongi walking past his door. It sounded like he stopped for a moment, almost like he was debating on whether or not he wanted to knock. It seemed Yoongi decided against knocking on the door to try to comfort Hoseok. The smaller male sighed as he heard the door to Yoongi’s room close. If Yoongi cared about him at all or wanted to care about him, then he would’ve knocked. He would’ve slipped a note under the door or something, but Yoongi did nothing.

Hoseok would have to get used to that.

Yoongi woke up the next morning to the smell of breakfast foods wafting through the air. That was an unusual smell in his home. Yoongi didn’t think he called the chef to come over to prepare breakfast. He sighed, he would have to check it out. He threw on a pair of black sweatpants and, surprise, an oversized black shirt. He didn’t bother to fix his hair as he sleepily walked out of his room.

He squinted in confusion when he heard music playing down the hall. He yawned and continued on his way to the kitchen. He paused in the doorway and blinked a few times, trying to take in the scene playing out in front of him. The radio in the kitchen, that had always been left untouched, was finally being utilized by a happy-go-lucky little brunette. Hoseok was in front of the stove cooking breakfast. He had his trusty frying pan on one burner making bacon while the other burner was occupied by scrambled eggs in another pan. Yoongi noticed that there was a soft smile on his face as he danced along to the music playing. Yoongi’s eyes softened when he realized Hoseok was unknowingly dancing along to one of the songs he had produced.

She got no chill, no chill,

Always chasing after thrills.

Hoseok remained oblivious to Yoongi watching him dance as he cooked breakfast. Yoongi felt a small creeping its way on his face as he watched the little brunette. He was wearing a pair of sweatpants and a white tank top that showed off more of his golden honey skin. He was a petite male with a tiny waist, and Yoongi liked it. The platinum haired male shook his head. He didn’t know where that thought came from, but it was not welcome in his mind.

Yoongi was about to make his presence known until he felt someone latch onto his leg. He smiled and looked down to see Taehyung hugging his right leg. Yoongi ruffled the boy’s hair and watched as he removed himself so he could move on to his other parent. Hoseok’s heart shaped smile activated the moment he saw Taehyung. Yoongi had never seen a smile so beautiful before in his life. It was like when Hoseok smiled the sun came out and illuminated everything and everyone in the room.

It was such a heart-warming sight to see Hoseok lift Taehyung with one arm while the other arm was cooking the food. Taehyung would giggle as he was swayed back and forth due to his parent’s dancing. The more Yoongi looked at the two of them together, the more he thought that Hoseok snuck his way into their family seamlessly. It had only been a day, but Yoongi couldn’t deny that Hoseok was the perfect mommy for Taehyung.

“Will you set the table for mommy, Tae?”

“Anything for mommy!”

Hoseok gently put Taehyung on his feet so he could stroll around the kitchen gathering plates and silverware for breakfast. Yoongi walked towards the fridge and grabbed the orange juice. He smiled when Taehyung came rushing towards him to take the beverage so he could continue to set the table. It made Yoongi happy to see Taehyung so willing to help around the house. A week ago, Taehyung would’ve never thought to do any of this.

The platinum blonde crossed his arms and leaned against the kitchen counter. Hoseok was plating all the food when he heard Yoongi speak to him, “You didn’t have to make breakfast, you know. I would’ve just made cereal or something.”

Hoseok didn’t turn to face him. He just turned the stove off and grabbed the plates. He picked up the plates and stated, “I didn’t do this for you. I did this for Tae. He deserves to have breakfast with his parents. Also, your lunch is packed in the fridge for when you go to work so don’t forget to grab that.”

“You didn’t have to-"

“I’m doing this for Tae.”

Hoseok left no room for discussion as he walked towards the table. As Yoongi sat down at the table, he noticed how Taehyung was looking back and forth from his parents and smiling. It was strange for Yoongi to be staring back at someone at the other end of the table, but somehow it felt right. This was different, but Yoongi felt like he could get used to this. He could get used to this for Taehyung. Yoongi placed some bacon on his plate and smiled to his son.

“Did you have fun with mommy yesterday?”

“Mommy and I had the best time, dad!”

“Maybe mommy will take you to the park today.”

“Can we, mommy? Can we?”

Yoongi watched as the other male’s beautiful heart shaped smile activated. Hoseok was grinning as he answered, “Of course we can, Tae! You’ve been so helpful, and I think you should be rewarded for it! How about after breakfast you go get ready and by the time you’re all set you can give daddy his lunch and we’ll go to the park? Does that sound good, Tae?”

“Yes! Thank you, mommy!”

Yoongi nearly dropped his fork when he heard Hoseok refer to him as daddy. Yoongi shook his head with a smile. He would have to get used to that, too. The family ate their breakfast in a comfortable silence. Taehyung would hum and dance around in his chair as he ate, which was a clear sign that he was happy with the food and his parents eating breakfast with him. Once everyone was done eating, Hoseok made his move to grab all the plates to wash them.

He was about to reach for Taehyung’s plate, but the child shook his head. He beamed at his parent, “No, mommy, I can do it! You’re carrying a lot, so I want to help! Can I help you with the dishes, mommy?”

“Tae, you really are mommy’s little helper!”

“I’m mommy and daddy’s good boy!”

“You sure are, baby.”

Yoongi smiled at the sight of Taehyung helping Hoseok bring the plates and silverware to the sink. Hoseok dragged a chair over to the sink so that Taehyung could sit on it while they washed everything. Yoongi took their combined giggles as his cue to leave to get ready for work. As Yoongi prepared himself for the day, he couldn’t help but think of Hoseok. The little brunette acted almost cold to him in the brief moment they spoke. He sighed, it couldn’t be helped. Hoseok interpreted their relationship as strictly business all because of Yoongi’s poor word choice.

Yet, maybe it was better this way.

Maybe it was better to have a more roommate type of relationship with Hoseok at first. He didn’t know if there would be any romantic feelings for Hoseok, but the more he thought about it the more he wouldn’t mind if that happened later. He did feel a bit pressured to get along with Hoseok since he was already getting along with Taehyung like he was always a part of the picture. He felt pressured to treat Hoseok well because Taehyung adored him. The least he could do for Taehyung and Hoseok was to try to get along with the little brunette.

Yoongi was dressed in his usual all black attire. He slung his backpack over a shoulder as he walked out of his room. As soon as he made it to the kitchen, he saw Taehyung running to the fridge to grab the brown paper bag with his lunch. The little boy held the bag up to his father, grinning from ear to ear. Yoongi gave a gummy smile, which unknowingly made Hoseok’s heart skip a beat because it was so precious.

“Thank you, Taehyung. Daddy can’t wait to eat it!”

“Don’t forget to kiss mommy goodbye!”

Hoseok and Yoongi blushed at those innocent words. They hadn’t talked about shows of affection like that. Yoongi gave an awkward smile to his son before he walked over to Hoseok. He wanted to ask Hoseok if something like that would be okay, seeing as how they weren’t on the best terms at the moment. Yoongi froze when Hoseok rolled his eyes and delicately cupped his face, planting a gentle kiss to his cheek.

Hoseok’s lips had to be the softest things Yoongi had ever felt in his life, but the little brunette would’ve said the same about the other male’s skin. When they pulled away, they just stared into each other’s eyes. They were both blushing, like they were two high school kids admitting they liked each other. Taehyung cooed at how cute his parents were being. Most little kids would think kisses are gross, but he thought it was sweet.

“I, uh, thanks for that.”

“Yeah, well, you’re welcome.”

“Oh, here, before I go, take this.”

The platinum haired male grabbed a slip of paper from his pants pocket and placed it into Hoseok’s hand. Yoongi had a faint smile on his face as he elaborated, “These are all my friends and numbers you can use to reach them. You can call them to hang out with you and Taehyung whenever you want. Jungkook would probably be free right now if you want to have him meet you at the park.”

Hoseok nodded, giving a small smile at Yoongi. The platinum haired male nodded at him and then waved goodbye to his son. He was about to walk out the door when he turned around to look at Hoseok. There was a mischievous smile on his face.

“Maybe don’t hit Jungkook with a frying pan, yeah?”

“Aish, don’t you have to go to work?”

Yoongi’s gummy smile returned as he laughed at his wife’s words. Yoongi waved at Taehyung one last time before he left the house. Hoseok let out a deep sigh. He didn’t understand why it felt nice to give Yoongi a kiss, even if it was just on the cheek. Their conversation didn’t seem very forced just now, but then again it was probably just an act for Taehyung. They had to give off the impression that they were a team and that they cared for each other, despite that being far from the truth.

Hoseok looked at the piece of paper in his hand, debating on whether or not he should call Jungkook. There were other names and phone numbers on the paper, but only Namjoon’s name was familiar. He was wondering if he should call Namjoon. Hoseok shook his head. He remembered how Namjoon said that he worked with Yoongi, so he was probably working right now. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone. He dialed the number and waited a few seconds until someone picked up.

“If this is spam, I’ll find you and I’ll kill you.”

“Uh, no, this is Yoongi’s wife, Hoseok.”

“Yoongi’s wife? You said you’re Hoseok?”

“Yeah, I’m… I’m Min Hoseok.”

The man on the other end of the phone made a long “OH,” as if everything made sense now. Hoseok smiled as the other male spoke, “Oh, okay, okay, I remember Yoongi hyung told us he was doing an arranged marriage! Wow, I’m so sorry for your loss. Yoongi hyung is a real sour puss! Well, I’m Jungkook and if there’s anything I can do to make your life a little easier, let me know!”

Hoseok giggled at Jungkook’s comments, causing the other male to laugh along with him. The little brunette smiled, “Actually, I was wondering if you were free to come to the park with Tae and I. I’d really love to get to know you since you seem to be close to Yoongi. If you’re not free, I totally understand and-“

“I’ll be there in ten!”

“Oh, okay! See you soon!”

Hoseok didn’t know how this encounter would go. He was nervous that he would meet Jungkook and the other male wouldn’t like him. He was scared that they might not get along, which would then annoy Yoongi. He wanted to get along with all of Yoongi’s friends. He was brought out of his thoughts when Taehyung ran up to him. The little boy looked up at him and beamed. That was all Hoseok needed to see to know he could do this.

Hoseok was counting on Taehyung to know where the park was, because he had absolutely no idea where it was. Taehyung held his parent’s hand as he chattered and guided them to the park nearby. As soon as they made it to the park, Taehyung was bursting with energy. He was jumping up and down as he asked his parent if he could play with the other kids on the playground. Once he had his parent’s permission, he took off like a rocket to play with the other children.

The little brunette walked over to a bench and sat down, smiling as he watched Taehyung talking to the other kids. He jumped when he heard someone’s voice from behind, “You must be Hoseok! Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you!”

Hoseok turned around to see a tall and muscular young man walking around the bench to sit beside him. He held out his hand for Hoseok to shake, “I’m Jeon Jungkook. I work with Yoongi but there’s nothing for me to do today so here I am. It’s really nice to meet you, Hoseok.”

“Please, call me Hobi.”

“Hobi? That’s so cute!”

The two of them laughed as they shook hands. When they removed their hands from each other, Jungkook questioned, “Can I ask you how old you are, Hobi? Everyone’s always my hyung so I want to see if this is my chance to be someone’s hyung!”

“I’m twenty-four.”

“Damn it!”

“I’m your hyung, aren’t I?”

“Yeah, I’m only twenty-two.”

Jungkook had the most precious bunny smile on his face as he looked at Hoseok and pouted, “Honestly, I wish I met you before Yoongi did! We could’ve been married, and I would treat you so much better than Yoongi hyung!”

“Don’t get me wrong,” Jungkook shook his head, “I love Yoongi hyung, but I have a feeling you’re more outgoing than he is. You and I would’ve been perfect together! But, I feel like it would be frowned upon to steal your hyung’s wife. We could be friends, no, best friends!”

Hoseok couldn’t help but feel like Jungkook was right. If by some chance Jungkook had wanted to do an arranged marriage and he got Hoseok, they would’ve been a great match. Jungkook seemed like the kind of person who was more openly affectionate and kind. He also showed he had a good sense of humor, not to mention Jungkook was handsome. Overall, Jungkook seemed to be a more compatible partner, but that could never happen. Hoseok was bound to Yoongi.

“I’d love to be your friend, Jungkookie.”

The two of them talked about anything and everything. Hoseok found out that Jungkook had met Yoongi in college. Jungkook was a shy freshman and he had happened to bump into Yoongi, spilling his coffee on the older male on accident. Obviously, Yoongi screamed every curse word known to man while Jungkook tried to apologize. Eventually, Namjoon heard the commotion and settled everything. Jungkook had offered to do Yoongi’s work for his photography class as way to make up for burning him with coffee and they had been friends ever since.

Hoseok was a little hesitant to share information about himself, which was something Jungkook noticed right away. Hoseok wouldn’t share information too personal. He told Jungkook that he liked to dance, which sparked Jungkook telling him about how one of their friends taught dance classes at the studio in Daegu. Just as Jungkook was going to give Hoseok his friend’s number, Taehyung came running towards them with tears falling down his cheeks.

The little brunette dropped to his knees and opened his arms for Taehyung to run into. Hoseok shushed the child, allowing him to cry into him. He felt Taehyung’s small hands holding onto his shirt like a vice grip. Taehyung was sobbing but after a few minutes Hoseok managed to calm him down enough so that he was just sniffling and hiccupping.

“Tae, can you tell mommy what’s wrong?”

“I wanna go home!”

Hoseok gently pulled Taehyung out of their embrace so they could look at each other. The older male had a gentle smile on his face, “Tae, I don’t want you to avoid these feelings, okay? It’s okay for you to be upset. Mommy just wants to talk to you about what made you feel this way. Will you let mommy help you?”

Taehyung nodded as he moved to wipe his own tears away. He sniffled before he answered, “Mommy, I just wanted to play with the other kids, but they told me I was weird. I just said that witches have black cats because if they had white cats then they would have white cat hair all over their clothes, and they told me I was weird. Mommy, am I weird?”

“No, Tae, you’re not weird. You’re unique.”

“What does that mean?”

“Well, Tae,” Hoseok thought for a moment and then gave a heart shaped smile, “it means that you see the world in a way that no one else can, and that’s really special. Those kids can’t see the world like you can so they’re jealous. Don’t let those mean kids get you down. One day, you’ll have friends who appreciate you for the way you view the world. One day, you’ll have friends who love you for how unique you are.”

Jungkook smiled as he watched the sight before him. Hoseok leaned in and pressed kisses all over Taehyung’s face, causing the small child to giggle. Jungkook admired Hoseok for the way he handled Taehyung’s meltdown. Other parents would’ve just indulged their child in their effort to escape the situation by going home, but not Hoseok. He wanted Taehyung to acknowledge these feelings and to understand that it was okay for him to be upset. He also made the extra effort to tell Taehyung that he was unique and that there was nothing wrong with that. The way Hoseok made sure Taehyung knew he was perfect the way he was made Jungkook’s heart pound in his chest.

Jungkook laughed as Hoseok turned and grabbed his hand, dragging him off towards the swings with Taehyung. To anyone watching them push Taehyung on the swings, they would’ve looked like a happy couple. To Jungkook and Hoseok, they were two friends who wanted to make Taehyung happy. They were two friends who wanted to ensure that Taehyung’s boxy smile stayed on his face. As Hoseok took over pushing the child, Jungkook took this moment to text Yoongi.

Jungkook

You didn’t tell me Hobi hyung was so cute!

And good with kids!

He just talked Taehyung down from a meltdown!

He’s a great parent, hyung!

Yoongi

Why was Taehyung crying?

Who the fuck made my kid cry?

Jungkook

Some rude children

They told him he was weird

Yoongi

Fuck them kids

What did Hoseok do about it?

I bet Taehyung wanted to go home.

Jungkook

Hobi hyung told him he was unique

He told Taehyung he was special

And that the other kids were jealous

He was so sweet to Taehyung

You got lucky with Hobi hyung!

Yoongi

Shut up

Or I’ll cut off your bunny foot

Jungkook

You need Jesus

Yoongi

And you need to shut up

It was nice to have Jungkook over for dinner that night. Jungkook would play with Taehyung like he was his father, and it made Hoseok happy. Jungkook sat in Yoongi’s chair and was more than willing to talk to Hoseok about his day. It felt like a family with Jungkook there. He was interested in Taehyung and Hoseok. He wanted to see them happy. He wanted to make them smile. He made the constant effort to be a part of their lives.

Hoseok was sad to see Jungkook leave.

After Jungkook left, Hoseok felt a wave of sadness wash over him. Part of him wished that Jungkook had found him first. He wished that Jungkook was the one he had the arranged marriage to. Yet, another part of him knew that if he was married to Jungkook then he would’ve never been able to be a parent to Taehyung. While Yoongi was not as loving as Jungkook, he did bring Taehyung into his life. Hoseok would rather be married to coldhearted Yoongi than the cheerful bunny Jungkook for the sole reason that Yoongi gave him Taehyung.

Speaking of Taehyung, the little boy was attempting to walk back to his room, as sleep was coming for him. He was about to fall forward until Hoseok rushed to him and scooped him into his arms. He smiled when he felt Taehyung wrap his arms around his neck and hold onto the fabric of his shirt. Taehyung snuggled his face into the crook of Hoseok’s neck and let out a sleepy sigh.

“Mommy sing to me.”

“Okay, baby.”

Hoseok was humming a tune as he walked down the hall to Taehyung’s bedroom. Hoseok didn’t hear Yoongi enter the house with a loud sigh. All that mattered to him was putting Taehyung to bed now. He had one arm under Taehyung to support him while his other arm maneuvered around him so that his hand was by his head, allowing his fingers to run through his luscious locks. He hadn’t known Taehyung long, but he learned that the little boy loved to be held, pet, and sung to sleep.

Yoongi yawned as he walked down the hall to see if Taehyung was sleeping. He poked his head in the room and smiled as he listened to Hoseok singing softly to the child, Everything will be okay. Everything will be alright. I know that it will go my way if you stay my baby, stay my baby.”

Taehyung was dozing off so Hoseok walked him over to his bed to tuck him in. Again, Taehyung reached for Hoseok’s face, holding his cheeks in his tiny hands. Hoseok smiled as he leaned in and rubbed their noses together for an eskimo kiss. Taehyung had a sleepy smile on his face as he released his parent from his hold.

The small child could hardly keep his eyes open, but both parents could tell he was trying to stay awake. He was trying to stay awake so he could hear his parent singing, “I’m never gonna give you up. I’m never gonna have enough. So, now till forever, stay my baby, stay my baby…”

Once he was sure Taehyung was asleep, he kissed his forehead and turned off his lamp. Hoseok quietly exited the room and turned to see Yoongi staring back at him, again. Hoseok covered his mouth with his hand, suppressing a scream. Yoongi shook his head as Hoseok tried to calm himself. Hoseok removed his hand and glared at the platinum blonde.

“Is this going to be a regular thing with you?!”

“How was your day?”

“Excuse me?”

“Did I stutter?”

Hoseok took a step back, shocked by the kindness and rudeness he experienced in less than ten seconds. Hoseok crossed his arms as he countered, “I’d prefer if you didn’t act like you care about me. You made it very clear to me what our relationship is last night. I don’t want to bother you, so I’ll leave you to do your nocturnal activities.”

“Goodnight, Yoongi.”

Yoongi wanted to stop him. He wanted to tell him to come back, but he didn’t. Instead, he watched as the little brunette walked down the hall and into his room. He walked down the hall and put his ear to the door, sighing as he heard Hoseok crying inside. He moved and placed his forehead on the door. He knew he did this to Hoseok. He knew he was cold last night. He wanted to have a decent relationship with Hoseok, but it seemed that last night weighed heavily on both of them.

Yoongi wanted to fix this, but he didn’t know how to. He stepped away from the door and made his way to his room. He pulled his phone from his pocket and started to text away in the group chat. He needed help. He needed to find some way to coexist with Hoseok and his method was not working.

Jin

Okay, Yoongi

Here’s what you’re gonna do…

Yoongi told himself he was going to wake up early, but that didn’t happen. He didn’t sleep that well last night. All he could think about were ways to improve his relationship with Hoseok. They had gotten off on the wrong foot, and Yoongi knew it was all his fault because of the way he spoke to his wife. His wife. That still felt strange to say. It was almost surreal to be able to say that he was married, to say he had a wife.

He hopped out of bed, ready to put in the work needed to have a happy and stable marriage with Hoseok. He threw on his dark clothes for the day and padded down the hall to the kitchen. He hoped that he had woken early enough to make breakfast for Hoseok and Taehyung, but he found his wife in front of the stove dancing to music again. Yoongi’s eyes softened when he heard that Hoseok was enjoying another song that he had produced.

And I got this rubber band on my wrist, on my wrist,

And I snap it every time that I think about your lips.

Hoseok was making pancakes this time, but he stopped for a second so he could dance. It was actually a rather endearing sight. Hoseok wearing sweatpants and a tank top, hair messy from sleep, dancing in the kitchen to one of Yoongi’s songs. Yoongi took this moment to appreciate his wife. He had such gorgeous golden skin and his brunette locks bounced as he moved. He had a heart shaped smile on his face as he slid over to the stove to flip a pancake over. He looked so happy, and Yoongi wanted to keep him that way. Yoongi always wanted to see this Hoseok.

Yoongi looked down when he felt a pair of small arms wrap around his leg. He smiled as he picked up Taehyung and walked him over to Hoseok. The little brunette was beaming at the sight of his husband and Taehyung, but Yoongi could tell he was happier to see the little boy. Yoongi gulped, it was time to be daring. He shifted Taehyung so that he was holding him with one arm. Yoongi’s newly freed arm wrapped around Hoseok’s waist so he could pull him over to plant a kiss on his cheek.

“Good morning, Hoseok.”

Hoseok was at a loss for words. A light pink blush dusted across his cheeks as it finally registered in his head that Yoongi just kissed his cheek. Hoseok looked up at Yoongi with wide eyes. He thought that Yoongi wasn’t one for displays of affection like this. Hoseok wondered if he was just doing it to satisfy Taehyung’s image of a loving family. The platinum blonde had a gummy smile on his face as he awaited Hoseok’s response. The smaller male blinked a few times and then returned with a shy smile.

“Good morning, Yoongi.”

“Did you sleep well?”

“I… yeah, I did. How did you sleep?”

“I’d sleep better if Taehyung didn’t snore.”

Hoseok covered his mouth to muffle the giggle that escaped his lips as Taehyung pouted in Yoongi’s arm. Taehyung shook his head and countered, “I don’t snore, dad! You sleep like a bear so you’re the one who probably snores the most, right, mommy? Right? You two sleep together so you know that it’s dad who snores, not me! I’m a good boy!”

The little brunette removed his hand and leaned in to kiss Taehyung’s forehead. He pinched the child’s cheeks playfully, “Even good boys can snore, Tae! I think your daddy forgets that he’s a heavy sleeper so he can’t hear that he’s the one snoring every night!”

Yoongi moved his free arm over his chest, pretending that he had just been shot. The platinum haired male groaned, “Oh, betrayed by my own wife! How could you expose me of such a thing, Hoseok?”

The trio laughed together until Taehyung wiggled out of his father’s arms to help set the table for breakfast. Yoongi snaked his arm back around Hoseok’s waist as he whispered to him, “Hey, I hope you know I didn’t kiss you for Taehyung. I’m not doing all of this for him. If you’d let me, I’d like to start over with you.”

“But you said-“

“Forget what I said. I was an asshole.”

“What do you want from me?”

“Whatever you’re willing to give me.”

Hoseok moved the pancakes over to a plate on the side. Hoseok was about to grab the plate but Yoongi placed his hand on top of his, causing both males to blush. Of course, Yoongi’s blush was more obvious because of how pale he was, but Hoseok kind of liked it. Hoseok couldn’t fight the feeling of butterflies in his stomach. He always thought Yoongi was handsome, but this was different now. Yoongi was making an effort to work on their relationship, whatever he wanted that to be. He didn’t want them to walk around pretending to care about each other, he wanted them to mean it.

“I’d like to start over with you, Yoongi.”

“Great. It's date night after you tuck Taehyung in.”

The little brunette squeaked when Yoongi leaned in and kissed his cheek again. Yoongi swiped the plate of pancakes from his wife and walked over to the table. Yoongi didn’t understand why his heart was racing when he kissed Hoseok’s cheek, but he liked it. He enjoyed making Hoseok blush because it turned the stubborn brunette into a shy puddle of goo. He liked how he was the one with the power to do that to Hoseok.

This morning felt like the best one Yoongi had in a long time. He didn’t feel any underlying tension from Hoseok this morning. Sure, he didn’t have many mornings to go from, but this one felt different. This one made Yoongi happy. He was laughing with his wife and child without a care in the world. Sometimes, he would look at Hoseok and he would smile. He would smile because this is how they could’ve been the past few days. They could’ve been this happy from the first day. Well, there was no use crying about it. All they could do was look towards the future now.

Once breakfast was over, Taehyung helped Hoseok with the dishes. Yoongi went into his room to grab his belongings. He had a giddy smile as he texted his friends and told them that the plan was working. He rolled his eyes when he saw Jin texted back to tell him that the plan would work because he came up with it. He smiled as he saw his friends arguing in the chat about who came up with the plan. He tucked his phone into his hoodie’s pocket as he stepped out of his room.

Taehyung was zooming around the living room, telling Hoseok about all the fun they were going to have today. Hoseok was about to reply but he squealed when Yoongi wrapped his arms around his waist and brought him close. Hoseok stared up at those once distant and cold brown eyes and saw that they changed. They seemed softer now, almost as if he were gazing into the eyes of a lover. Yoongi leaned in and whispered into his ear.

“Don’t forget about our date.”

“I… I won’t.”

“Good, now kiss me goodbye.”

Those words sounded so sweet coming from Yoongi. Hoseok gave a heart shaped smile as he reached up and held Yoongi’s face in his hands. Their faces were inches apart, and Yoongi was wondering if the little brunette was going to kiss him on the lips this time. He gulped, he wouldn’t mind it if Hoseok wanted to kiss him. He would gladly let his wife kiss him now.

“Tae, how many kisses does daddy get today?”

“Four!”

“You heard him, Yoongi!”

Yoongi couldn’t help but laugh when he felt Hoseok kiss both cheeks, his forehead, and then a finishing kiss on his nose. They could hear Taehyung gushing about how cute his parents were, and it warmed both of their hearts. It made them happy to know that their relationship made their son happy. Their son. Seeing as how Yoongi asked him on a date, he felt like he had the right to address Taehyung as his son, too.

The pair released each other and went their separate ways. Even though they were apart, they couldn’t stop thinking about one another. Yoongi couldn’t write one song that day that didn’t remind him of Hoseok or was written about the brunette. Hoseok kept spacing out while he was playing with Taehyung, thinking about what kind of a date Yoongi was going to take him on. He couldn’t believe that Yoongi went from telling him to leave him alone to being sweet and asking him on a date. He wondered what had changed in such a short period of time to make Yoongi do a complete 180.

Hoseok’s day consisted of playing Just Dance with Taehyung and getting lost in his thoughts. He liked that combination. He liked spending time with Taehyung during the day and then thinking of how nice it would be to be with Yoongi during the night. Hoseok was hopeful. He was hopeful that this date tonight would spring their relationship in the right direction. Hoseok was hopeful that he and Yoongi could be more like husband and wife, instead of roommates or even friends. He was hopeful that they could fall in love one day.

Yoongi’s day consisted of writing songs for famous artists to perform. He was writing more love songs today, which never happened before Hoseok came into his life. He was so used to writing songs about drugs, money, and hook ups that he didn’t realize how nice it was to write about something he was actually passionate about. He wouldn’t say that he was in love, but he was definitely smitten. He was sure that in due time, he could fall in love with Hoseok. He was sure he could fall in love because he wanted to. He wanted that with Hoseok and for once, it didn’t scare him.

It thrilled him.

The day went by relatively fast, as both males were preoccupied with Taehyung or work. Yoongi hoped that he would make it in time to hear Hoseok sing Taehyung to sleep, but just missed the lullaby. Yoongi sighed, he loved to hear Hoseok singing to their son. Hoseok walked into the kitchen and paused when he saw Yoongi standing there with a party sized pizza and a gummy smile on his face.

“Well, are you going to help me eat this?”

“Is this our date?”

“Is that alright?”

“It’s perfect.”

Hoseok grabbed plates while Yoongi brought the pizza over to the coffee table in front of the couch. Hoseok plopped down next to the platinum haired male, handing him a plate so they could dig into the pizza. Hoseok couldn’t help but giggle as he and Yoongi bumped their pieces of pizza together, as if to say “cheers.” Both males let out moans as they took their first bites of pizza, causing both of them to laugh.

Yoongi finished off his first piece and reached for another. Hoseok took another bite of his pizza as Yoongi looked at him and sighed, “Yah, I wanted to apologize to you. I know I was pretty fucking rude when we met. I know this is strange and new to both of us, so I’m sorry I was so insensitive. I didn’t even take your feelings into consideration. I was just so annoyed with this whole arranged marriage shit and I took it out on you. I’m sorry, Hoseok.”

“Hobi… call me Hobi.”

“Really?”

The little brunette snatched another piece of pizza. He nodded to Yoongi, “Yeah, people I’m close to call me Hobi, so you should, too. I know this wasn’t ideal for you, Yoongi, so I appreciate you taking me in. Honestly, I should be thanking you for everything you’re doing for me.”

He saw Yoongi cock an eyebrow at him in confusion as he shoveled food into his mouth. Hoseok avoided his gaze as he said softly, “I know you said your parents forced you into this, but I consented to this. Sure, I was sort of forced into this, but I agreed to do this arranged marriage with you.”

Yoongi watched as Hoseok blinked rapidly, clearly trying to keep himself from crying. Tears were glistening in his eyes as he continued, “My parents weren’t doing so well. They were both in the hospital suffering from terminal illnesses. My parents wanted to make sure I was going to be taken care of when they died, so their dying wish was for me to agree to this arranged marriage. It was after they passed that I came to Daegu to be with you.”

Hoseok was confused by Yoongi’s next actions. The platinum haired male placed his plate on the table and held his hands in front of his face. He moved so his legs were hung over the couch and touching the floor. He continued to hold his face in his hands as he stared at the floor. Hoseok was about to ask him if he was alright, but that’s when he heard Yoongi’s small voice.

“I’m such an asshole.”

“No, you’re not.”

“If I had known,” Yoongi shook his head in his hands, “Hobi, if I had known your parents died and wanted you to be in this arranged marriage… shit, I swear I would’ve been better to you from the start. Your parents just wanted me to take care of you and all I did was treat you like shit. God, I’m so fucking sorry. I don’t deserve you, I really don’t. You’ve been nothing but good to me and Taehyung, and I’ve acted like such a dick. Fuck, I’m sorry.”

Yoongi was going to continue with his rant but Hoseok grabbed his wrists and pulled him back on the couch to sit more comfortably. Hoseok pulled the other male’s hands from his face so that they could look at each other. Yoongi didn’t deserve those kind brown eyes staring back at him. He didn’t deserve that precious heart shaped smile. He didn’t deserve Hoseok’s warm hands holding his cold ones. He didn’t deserve Hoseok.

“I forgive you, Yoongi.”

“You shouldn’t.”

“You’re treating me good now. That’s what matters.”

The platinum haired male brought Hoseok’s hands to his lips and kissed the back of both of them. He squeezed them as he promised, “From now on, I’m going to treat you like a husband should treat his wife. I’m going to do everything I can to make sure that heart shaped smile is always on your face.”

Yoongi was surprised when he felt Hoseok squeeze his hands back. The little brunette smiled as he returned, “And from now on, I’ll do the same. I’ll treat you like a wife should treat his husband. Every day, I’ll do my best to make sure you have that gummy smile on your face. We’re in this together, Yoongi.”

“Why did this sound like wedding vows?”

“I thought you weren’t into that kind of stuff.”

“For you, I could be.”

“Aish, my husband is so cheesy!”

Both males liked the way those words sounded. My husband. They released each other the moment their stomachs growled at them to eat more pizza. As Hoseok grabbed another piece of pizza, he questioned, “Yoongi, I never got to ask you, but how old are you? Are you my hyung? I’m twenty-four.”

“You know what’s funnier than twenty-four?”

“Yoongi, don’t-“

“Twenty-five.”

Hoseok tried his best to not laugh, but Yoongi was laughing at the SpongeBob reference so he had no choice but to humor his husband and join him. Yoongi easily could’ve just told Hoseok that he was his hyung, but he had to be extra. Yoongi really just wanted to make Hoseok laugh. He watched as Hoseok had to put his pizza down so he could clap as he laughed. Yoongi thought it was adorable how his wife was a loud laugher, and a clapper.

Once the giggles had subsided, Yoongi took a bite of his pizza. The brunette had a small smile on his face as he asked, “You know, I don’t know what you do for a living, Yoongi. Can you tell me about what you do?”

“I could, but then I’d have to kill you.”

“Aish, stop making me laugh!”

“Your laugh is the best sound I have ever heard.”

Hoseok shook his head and reached over to playfully swat the other male. Yoongi returned the smile as he answered, “Okay, okay! I’m a music producer. Those songs that you’ve been dancing to in the morning are actually songs I’ve produced. Every time I see you dancing to one of my songs it makes me feel like… it makes me feel like I’ve written a hit song. I could win awards for these songs I write, but it doesn’t mean shit if you’re not dancing to them.”

There was a light pink blush spreading across Hoseok’s face, and Yoongi loved it. The platinum haired male sighed, “I love what I do, don’t get me wrong, like, look at where we live. I’m good at what I do, but if I had it my way… I’d be a rapper. I always dreamed of being a rapper, but I landed a good job as a music producer after college and worked my way up the ladder and now here I am.”

“You said you wanted to be a rapper,” Hoseok swallowed a bite of food, “so that must mean that you thought about what you would want your stage name to be, right? So, what did you pick? What’s your stage name?”

“Suga.”

“Suga… I like that. It’s cute.”

“I’m not cute.”

The little brunette rolled his eyes with a smile, clearly not believing that for a second. Hoseok was enjoying his seventh slice of pizza when Yoongi flipped the conversation around, “What about you? Were you doing something before you came here to be with me? What do you love to do?”

He loved the questions Yoongi was asking him. He chuckled before replying, “Yeah, you already found out I love to dance. Before I came out here I was actually a dance teacher. I taught all ages. It didn’t matter to me what age my students were or what music we were listening to. All that mattered was dancing.”

“What was your stage name?”

“J-hope.”

“J-hope… it suits you.”

They sat in a comfortable silence, smiling at each other when their mouths were full of pizza. Hoseok swallowed another piece and then looked to the older male, “Can I ask you something, Yoongi hyung? Well, I just asked a question right there, but you know what I mean. Can I ask you about how you became Tae’s father?”

Yoongi nodded. He knew that question was bound to come up sooner or later. He put his plate on the coffee table, finally starting to feel full after five slices. He noticed Hoseok was like a bottomless pit with the way he ate pizza like he had never seen food before. He was actually really impressed with Hoseok for moving onto his tenth slice of pizza. In a strange way, Yoongi found Hoseok more attractive knowing he could demolish a whole party sized pizza with a tiny bit of his partner’s help.

“I think I’ve mentioned Taehyung’s adopted,” Yoongi had a small smile on his face, “I guess my parents thought I needed a greater purpose in life, so they made me adopt a kid. I didn’t know Taehyung would become like my whole world. In a way, my parents were right. I did find a purpose in life when Taehyung came into my life. It wasn’t easy at first. I didn’t know what the hell I was doing. I was parenting him all on my own while also working a full-time job. I couldn’t be there for him like I should’ve been. He’s always known babysitters and a little bit of me, and that’s not fair. He would ask me where his mother was, and I would keep telling him that his mom was away… I didn’t want to tell him he would only have me. I just couldn’t help but feel like I wasn’t enough for him.”

Hoseok put his plate on the table so he could crawl over to Yoongi. He gently pushed Yoongi so he was laying on his back, which gave Hoseok the opportunity to snuggle on top of him. The platinum haired male let out a love filled sigh as he draped his arms around his wife. Hoseok was laying on him, nuzzling his face into the older male’s strong chest. This was their first time being pressed up against each other like this, but it felt right. It felt natural.

The little brunette looked up at the older male. He gave a warm smile as he stated, “You’re more than enough, Yoongi hyung. You’re so strong. You did your best to raise Taehyung on your own while managing work, too. It’s not easy to be a single parent, especially at such a young age. I think you’re doing your best, and that’s more than enough. All Taehyung can ask of you is for you to try your best. Don’t be too hard on yourself. I think you’re a great dad, Yoongi.”

“You make me want to be better.”

“What? Me?”

Yoongi nodded and squeezed the smaller male. He placed a quick kiss on Hoseok’s head before continuing, “Yeah, you. You’re the best mom a kid could have. I see the way he looks at you. He looks at you like you’re the one who put the sun in the sky every day. He always wants to be good because he just glows under your praise. He wasn’t anything like this before you came into our lives. You have this way about you, Hobi… you have this way of making everyone want to be better people.”

Yoongi didn’t have to be looking at Hoseok to know he was blushing. The platinum haired male sounded nervous as he asked, “Yah, Hobi? I have this… this sort of celebration coming up in a few months for the record label and I was wondering… if you would want to go with me? I’d really like to show off my wife to everyone at the label.”

“I’d love to, Yoongi.”

The two of them didn’t last much longer before sleep came washing over them. They had forgotten about the empty pizza box and the plates that littered the coffee table. They forgot to go into their separate rooms for the night. Hoseok forgot to cry himself to sleep while Yoongi forgot to spend hours thinking about how he could make his wife’s life easier. Instead, they allowed themselves to do something different and new.

They fell asleep in each other’s arms.

In a few short months, the Min trio became a family. It was after that night they slept together on the couch that Yoongi suggested Hoseok sleep with him every night. Yoongi also might have mentioned that the night they spent sleeping on the couch was the best night of sleep he ever had. Hoseok might have laughed at Yoongi back then, but he felt the same way. So, Hoseok moved out of that lonely room and into Yoongi’s master suite. Yoongi didn’t realize how much it sucked going to bed alone until he had Hoseok in his arms. Yoongi knew he never wanted to experience that kind of solitude again.

Yoongi and Hoseok’s relationship was progressing to the point where they would agree that they were dating, despite being married. It felt like they learned how to be a couple. They had their rough patches, but they knew how to work through their issues together. At first, they tried to be a couple for Taehyung, but now they could see that they were doing it for themselves, too. Yoongi and Hoseok wanted to be together. They wanted to love each other as husband and wife.

Yoongi and Hoseok stayed true to their couch vows and tried to be good to each other. Yoongi had come to know that Hoseok was an early bird, thus making him the designated breakfast cooker. The older male wanted to cook breakfast for Hoseok and Taehyung for once so he made the irrational decision to pick a fight with Hoseok so he would be forced to sleep on the couch. It wasn’t the smartest plan, but Yoongi wanted to surprise his family with breakfast for once. He even went the extra mile and fell asleep on the kitchen floor so he would be right next to the stove. When Yoongi woke up, he was on the couch and Hoseok was laughing at him from the kitchen, telling him if he wanted to cook breakfast that’s all he had to say. He didn’t need to pick a fight. It was in moments like that where Yoongi realized just how lucky he was to have Hoseok.

It was other days like today where Yoongi felt lucky to have Hoseok, as well. Tonight, they were going to the celebration at the record label. It was late so Taehyung would be asleep while they were gone, but they made sure a one of Yoongi’s cousins came over to watch him in case he woke up. Yoongi and Hoseok were getting ready when they heard their son screaming and crying from his room. Yoongi sent a knowing look towards his wife.

“You got a lullaby ready?”

“I think I’ll need your help on this one.”

Yoongi gave a gummy smile, silently telling Hoseok that he had his back for this lullaby. Hoseok made his way to Taehyung’s room and relieved Yoongi’s cousin from babysitting for the moment. It was in the moments where someone else had to put Taehyung to bed that the couple noticed he wouldn’t allow anyone but Hoseok to tuck him in. Only Hoseok could tame the beast, as Yoongi often joked.

As soon as Taehyung saw his parent, he rushed to him with a boxy smile on his face. Hoseok grabbed his hands and that’s when Yoongi started beat boxing from the doorway. Taehyung giggled as Hoseok started to dance to the older male’s mouth music.

Hoseok grinned at the child, “Come on, Tae, I need your help with this song! I know you know the words to our song! You start it, baby!”

“Mommy, sing to me!”

“I love you!”

“Sing to me, mommy, sing to me!”

“I love you!”

“Sing to me, mommy, sing to me!”

“I love you!”

“Sing to me, mommy, sing to me!”

“I love you!”

Yoongi felt tears prick at his eyes as he heard the pure love and adoration for Taehyung in Hoseok’s voice as he told their son he loved him. It was the most beautiful sight when Hoseok was dancing with their son and singing to him like this. Taehyung was beaming every time he got a response from his parent. This was Taehyung’s favorite song his parent sang to him because it meant that his father was present, as well. His father was providing the music while his mother was singing with him. Taehyung continued to smile as he danced with his parent.

“Tae, sing to me!”

“I love you!”

“Sing to me, Tae, sing to me!”

“I love you!”

“Sing to me, Tae, sing to me!”

“I love you!”

“Sing to me, Tae, sing to me!”

“I love you!”

Yoongi knew if he blinked, he would start crying. Hoseok gathered Taehyung in his arms, which led to the child reaching his hands out to touch his parent’s cheeks. God, Yoongi thought the sight before was beautiful but this was even better. Hoseok was swaying to the beat boxing as their child held onto his cheeks so that their faces were close together. Yoongi wished he had a camera to capture the moment, but he knew this would live on forever in his memories.

Hoseok tilted his head so that his nose was almost touching Taehyung’s. A stray tear fell down Hoseok’s cheek and onto the child’s hand as he smiled, “Taehyung, did you know that you used to live in my tummy? Taehyung, did you know I’m in love with being your mommy?”

The two of them went back and forth asking the other to sing to them and then replying with “I love you” until Taehyung started to get tired. Taehyung yawned as he tucked his head in the crook of his parent’s neck. He pressed a little kiss against his parent’s neck, causing Hoseok to choke back a sob. He moved so that one of his hands could run through Taehyung’s hair, just how he liked it.

This song always made Hoseok cry. He had tears rolling down his face as he quietly sang Taehyung to sleep, “You are my world. You are my world. My favorite boy. My, my, my, my… you are my world. My favorite boy. My favorite…”

Hoseok was a mess by the time he was putting Taehyung in his bed. He planted a soft kiss to the child’s forehead and turned off the lamp, just like always. He closed the door behind him and smiled when he saw Yoongi staring back at him. In the beginning, Yoongi’s presence would’ve scared him, but not anymore. He had since gotten used to Yoongi’s watchful brown eyes.

“Aish, you’re so emotional, Hobi.”

“That song is like a sucker punch to the feels.”

“Come on, we’ve got to get going.”

The two males finished getting ready, whispering sweet nothings to each other as they helped one another with their ties. They left their house hand in hand, and even held hands as Yoongi drove them to the venue. Hoseok squeezed his lover’s hand, silently letting him know that he was getting nervous. All of Yoongi’s coworkers were going to be at the celebration. Sure, Hoseok knew about Yoongi’s inner circle of friends but he could potentially meet his lover’s boss. He just didn’t want to mess anything up for Yoongi.

This would also be the first time Yoongi brought Hoseok out to a public event. This would be the first time people would hear that they found each other through an arranged marriage, so people were bound to have their opinions about that. Hoseok knew some people would probably think he was just with Yoongi for the money, but that wasn’t it. Hoseok’s parents did want him to be taken care of, but he stayed because he adored his partner and Taehyung.

Yoongi parked the car out front for the valet to park it for him. Hoseok was about to hop out of the car but Yoongi requested he stay put for a minute. Hoseok wasn’t sure what his lover was doing until he saw Yoongi open the car door for him. The little brunette blushed at the romantic gesture. He took Yoongi’s hand and allowed his lover to help him out. They kept their fingers intertwined as they walked past the flashing cameras belonging to the paparazzi.

They agreed to stop for one person’s camera to take a picture for a magazine. Yoongi and Hoseok let go of each other's hand. Hoseok and Yoongi wrapped an arm around each other’s waist. Yoongi chuckled as he pulled his lover closer to him, causing Hoseok to place his free hand on his chest to stabilize them. The camera flashed, capturing Yoongi and Hoseok looking back at each other with loving smiles on their faces. The platinum haired male could see the headlines about their relationship now, but he didn’t care. He had Hoseok, and that’s all that mattered.

The slipped into the building after they took the picture together. Hoseok gulped and reached for Yoongi’s hand, holding it like his life depended on it. Yoongi’s plan was to find his friends to help make Hoseok feel more comfortable in a place where everyone was unfamiliar. The last thing Yoongi wanted was for Hoseok to meet his boss when he was in a nervous and shy state like this. But of course, nothing ever really works out for Yoongi like he hoped it would.

His boss and his assistants smiled as they made their way over to the couple. Yoongi regretted having to let go of Hoseok’s hand, but he had to so he could shake his boss’s hand in a greeting. As soon as he was done shaking the man’s hand, he returned to Hoseok to hold his hand. He knew that Hoseok needed to be touching him and holding hands would draw the least amount of attention to them.

“Ah, Yoongi, and who is this?”

“This is Min Hoseok, my wife.”

“Your… wife?”

“Yes, Hoseok is my wife.”

Yoongi could tell Hoseok growing angry with each word the boss spoke, “Your wife… is a man? I mean no disrespect, Yoongi, but he looks more like your husband to me. Why would you go around calling him your wife if he’s clearly a man? It’s like you’re inviting people to talk about you.”

Yoongi was about to speak, but Hoseok opened his mouth first. Hoseok’s eyes narrowed as he snapped, “Excuse me, but you should be more sensitive and open minded to the way people prefer to be identified. This whole wife and husband gender role thing is fucking stupid. If I want to be Yoongi’s wife then, fuck it, I’m his wife. If he’s comfortable with it and I’m comfortable with it then it doesn’t matter what you think of it. You know what? Fuck you.”

No one said a word. Hoseok rarely lost his temper like that but being Yoongi’s wife meant a lot to him and he wasn’t about to let someone make him feel bad or weird about it. Hoseok’s eyes widened when he remembered he was talking to Yoongi’s boss. He had just swore at Yoongi’s boss. He literally said “fuck you” to his lover’s boss. He looked up at Yoongi and saw that the color had drained from his face. Yoongi was terrified that he was going to lose his job because his wife lost his temper. Both males were waiting for the bad news, but instead Yoongi’s boss dropped down on one knee and took Hoseok’s free hand in his.

“If you weren’t married I’d ask for your hand!”

“E-Excuse me?”

“You’re so passionate, I love it!”

“Huh?”

Yoongi’s boss pressed a kiss to the back of Hoseok’s hand before he removed himself from the floor. He dropped the brunette’s hand as he elaborated, “You don’t take anyone’s shit, do you? I like that! I love how you spoke out against gender roles and how you literally told me to fuck off! I swear, if you weren’t married to Yoongi I would’ve wifed you up in a heartbeat! You’re a lucky man, Min!”

Hoseok and Yoongi stood there in disbelief as the man clasped Yoongi’s shoulder and walked away with his assistants. Neither of them said anything. They were still trying to take in what just happened. Apparently, Yoongi’s boss liked Hoseok because he stood up to him. The two males blinked a few times before they turned to look at each other.

There was an embarrassed blush on Hoseok’s face. He wore a sad smile as he apologized, “I’m really sorry about that, Yoongi. I know this night means a lot to you and I could’ve ruined it. I promise, I’ll stay quiet and I won’t say a thing if another one of your coworkers comes up to us. I’ll even act like I don’t speak Korean!”

“I’m not mad at you,” Yoongi squeezed his hand and smiled, “I’m not mad at all. Honestly, that was fucking hot how you stood up to my boss like that. You don’t get feisty like that often, but I feel like I should make you mad now just to see that side of you again. Shit, baby, you’re getting me all riled up and the night’s still young.”

“Aish, we’re not doing that in public!”

“You’re right. Let’s wait till we get home.”

“Y-Yoongi!”

Yoongi chuckled as he leaned in and kissed his blushing lover’s cheek. The couple wandered around the large room. Yoongi felt like the world was moving in slow motion as he gazed upon Hoseok. He was laughing at something one of Yoongi’s coworkers had said. He was throwing his head back, his loud laugh overpowering the music that was playing softly throughout the room. Hoseok wasn’t even trying, but he was the center of attention. He was the one everyone couldn’t take their eyes off of.

Yoongi remembered all those times he had to come to these parties. He always showed up alone, so it always felt like he was forcing laughter and faking smiles when he spoke to other people. Yoongi’s tired eyes would be searching amongst the crowded sea of people for someone, anyone, worth talking to. Yoongi never really liked going to these parties. There were always people who would come up to him because they knew who he was. They knew he could elevate their status in the music industry. He hated those insincere people, they had no shame and Yoongi gave no fucks about what they wanted.

But enter Hoseok and everything changed.

He had told Hoseok months ago that he had a way about him that made people want to be better. But Hoseok also had such contagious positive energy. His entire being radiated like he was the sun. He had been constantly referred to as a ray of sunshine, and Yoongi would agree and disagree with that. Yes, Hoseok shined like the sun, but the sun only came out during the day. Hoseok stayed shining even when the sun was gone. Hoseok was like an eternal sun, an eternal star. Hoseok would never fade, nor would he ever lose his light. And just like that, Hoseok turned and smiled at him.

“I think I heard Jungkookie!”

“Let’s find him, Hobi.”

Hoseok tugged Yoongi through all the people, neither of them bothering to apologize to any people whose feet they stepped on along the way. Hoseok let go of his lover’s hand so he could pounce on Jungkook’s back. The two of them were laughing as they greeted one another. Yoongi smiled as the rest of their friends joined them. Jimin had two champagne glasses in his hands and made it very clear that both of them were for him. Namjoon had an arm around Jin’s waist, an obvious sign that he was trying to show everyone that his handsome boyfriend was off limits.

Once Hoseok hopped off of Jungkook, the six friends quickly found themselves sitting at a round table in front of the dance floor. They were all having a good time together. To anyone else who saw them, they would’ve thought that they were friends for years, instead of recently becoming a group of six. Hoseok fit right into their friend group like the missing piece to a puzzle. He seemed to balance out each friend perfectly, but everyone would agree that he balanced out Yoongi the best. They really were like dark and light, like the moon and the sun.

Hoseok was about to lean in to give his husband a kiss when Jimin shot up and darted over to the brunette. He grabbed him by his arm and yanked on him, “Hobi hyung, they’re playing the song we choreographed together! We have to dance! We have to show everyone our moves!”

“Is it okay if I go dance with Jimin, hyung?”

“You know you don’t have to ask me, Hobi.”

“I know.”

There was a bright smile on Hoseok’s face when he said that. He secretly knew Yoongi liked it when Hoseok double checked with him. He knew Yoongi would never deny him, but he also knew the older male liked being taken into consideration. Yoongi liked to know that he was a thought in Hoseok’s mind. Hoseok didn’t have to ask him if it was alright for him to dance with Jimin, but he appreciated that his lover wanted to confirm it with him.

Hoseok smiled and placed a soft kiss to his lover’s cheek before running to the dance floor with Jimin. Yoongi took a sip of his champagne as he watched Jimin and Hoseok dance together, gaining wolf whistles from the men around them. The way the two males moved was like water. It was like there wasn’t a single bone in their bodies as they moved so fluidly together. Yoongi would never get used to seeing Hoseok move like that.

There was a sense of pride that crept into Yoongi when he saw a man walk over to Hoseok to ask him to dance. The little brunette would show off his ring and then wave to the platinum haired male. Yoongi would give a smirk and hold up his glass to his lover, silently letting the other man that he was Hoseok’s husband. Yoongi loved how happy Hoseok was to show other men his wedding ring, to show that he was married. When they first met, Hoseok wouldn’t have done something like that. After Yoongi put in effort in to making their relationship work, Hoseok did, too.

“You really love him, don’t you?”

“Yeah, I do, Jin.”

“You got lucky with Hobi.”

Yoongi nodded and placed his glass on the table. He turned to Jin, listening to his hyung as he continued, “We hear about how arranged marriages don’t work out, but you made it work. Sure, you didn’t want to make it work at first, but look at you two now. You went from strangers to lovers in a couple months. Now, no one would believe you if you said you two met through an arranged marriage. You two look like you’ve always known each other, like you’ve always been in love.”

“You know,” Yoongi smiled at the memories, “we got off to a rocky start. I just wanted to play pretend with this whole arranged marriage, but he didn’t want to pretend. We bumped heads a couple times, and I wasn’t expecting that. I was expecting him to be submissive as hell, but he wasn’t. He’s stubborn, but to me that shows how passionate he is. He’s stubborn, positive, and possibly the kindest person I’ve ever met. Shit. Yeah, I did get lucky with him, I really did.”

“You’ve grown soft, Min Yoongi.”

“Yeah, and I blame Min Hoseok.”

While Jin and Yoongi were discussing the future, Jimin and Hoseok were enjoying their time on the dancefloor. It had been some time since Hoseok danced like this. It felt good. It felt amazing to be able to dance with a friend and lose track of everything happening around him. He lost himself in the music. Everything but the music and Jimin faded from his mind. All that mattered was having fun with the blonde.

Hoseok thought nothing of it when Jimin excused himself to get more alcohol. The little brunette carried on dancing, throwing in some body rolls here and there in case Yoongi was watching him. He knew Yoongi was a weak man for the way he moved when he was dancing. It wasn’t that Hoseok was trying to get his husband riled up, but… yeah, no, he was trying to get his husband riled up. He thought the hand on his wrist was Yoongi, but it wasn’t.

He gulped as he turned to face the man who grabbed him. It was a man around Namjoon’s height with a muscular build. His eyes were dark and full of lust, which immediately sent a shiver down Hoseok’s spine. The man smirked, loving the sight of the brunette cowering under his gaze. Hoseok tried to pull his wrist back, but it was no use. The man was set on keeping him in his hold.

“Uh, could you please let me go?”

“And why would I do that?”

“Because I’m married.”

“That ring doesn’t mean shit.”

Hoseok gawked at the man’s response. The stranger stepped closer to him as he smirked, “I saw you dancing with that blonde, but he doesn’t have a ring on his finger like you do. What game are you trying to play? You’re out here acting like you’re taken by that blonde, but I know better. I’ve been watching you. I know you’re being tease. I know you’re playing hard to get, aren’t you?”

Nothing disgusted Hoseok more than knowing this man had been watching him on the dancefloor. That was predator like behavior. He waited until Jimin left Hoseok to make his move. It was horrifying to think that someone was watching him and waiting for their moment to pounce on him so no one could save him. Yet, this man was bold to assume that Jimin was his husband.

“Let me go before my husband beats your ass.”

“You’re still going with that lie?”

“Yoongi! Help! Yoongi!”

Hoseok struggled against the man as he tried to pull him against his chest. Hoseok felt tears streaming down his face as he cried, “Don’t touch me! I said I’m married so get off! If you don’t let me go my husband will-“

The little brunette gasped as he felt the other man’s weight being forced off of him. Hoseok looked up to see Yoongi standing in front of him protectively. The platinum haired male was glaring at the other male, who seemed surprised that someone had came to his prey’s rescue. Hoseok moved his hand to his face and tried to wipe the tears away, but they just kept coming. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something bad could’ve happened if Yoongi didn’t hear him, if Yoongi didn’t come for him.

The man puffed out his chest, trying to intimidate Yoongi. It failed. Yoongi stepped up to the man and growled, “Don’t ever touch my wife! When you see a fucking ring on someone’s hand, leave them the fuck alone! I swear to God, if I see you near my wife again, you’ll regret it!”

You’re his husband? You’re the one who-“

“Who just beat your ass!”

The man wasn’t ready to get punched in the face, sending him sprawling to the floor. There was the sickening sound of the man’s nose cracking and breaking, but Yoongi didn’t care. He shook his hand, trying to force the slight pain away. There was a circle forming around them and that was when Yoongi realized the Min’s would be calling it an early night. He grabbed Hoseok’s hand and guided him out of the building while their friends stayed behind to try to distract everyone.

Hoseok brushed his tears away before they exited. He didn’t want the paparazzi to take pictures and make the headlines say that Yoongi made him cry. They didn’t even wait for the valet to tell them where the car was. Yoongi snatched his keys and dragged his wife towards the car. Neither of them said anything as Yoongi assisted Hoseok in the car before walking around to the driver’s side to hop in.

Hoseok held himself, fighting the urge to cry the entire ride home. The ride home was quiet, aside from a few sniffs from Hoseok here and there. As soon as they were parked, Hoseok rushed out of the car and into their home. He didn’t wait for Yoongi as he ran into their bedroom. He could hear Yoongi talking to his cousin, telling them that an incident had happened at the party and that’s why they were home early. He could hear the door closing. It must have been the cousin being relieved of their baby-sitting duties.

The little brunette was starting to hyperventilate as he threw his jacket off and pulled the tie off. He was trying to get rid of the clothes that connected him to that predator of a man. He felt two strong arms wrap around his waist and that’s when he lost it. He screamed into his hands and his body racked into sobs. He felt Yoongi turn him around so he could hide his face in the crook of his neck. Yoongi was humming to him, trying to help his wife calm down. His heart broke when he heard Hoseok whimper.

“I ruined your night. I’m sorry.”

“No, Hobi, no… you didn’t ruin my night.”

“I made us leave early.”

“No, I made us leave early.”

Yoongi pulled Hoseok out of his neck and kissed away the tears. He had a sad smile on his face as he whispered, “I made us leave early because I didn’t want anyone else to try to touch you like that. I should’ve been out there dancing with you so no one would get any ideas. I thought the ring would be enough, but I guess not. I’m sorry that asshole got close to you and touched you, Hobi.”

“He… he was watching me…”

“I should’ve hit him harder.”

Rage was bubbling within Yoongi. He couldn’t believe that someone had been stalking his wife on the dancefloor like an animal. Hoseok was just trying to dance and some entitled prick ruined that for him. Yoongi meant it, he should’ve hit that man harder. Yoongi might not be happy about the man eyeing his wife like a piece of meat, but he was relieved that he heard Hoseok and got there in time to stop him from doing any more harm.

“I’m safe now, right, Yoongi?”

“Yeah, I’ve got you.”

“You won’t let anything happen to me?”

“I promise I’ll always take care of you.”

The look in Yoongi’s eyes were vastly different from the stranger’s eyes. While the other male’s eyes held nothing but lust, Yoongi’s eyes held love and concern. Yoongi didn’t have to say anything else. All he had to do was look at Hoseok for him to know that he meant everything he said. Hoseok couldn’t help but smile. He was lucky to have Yoongi as his husband. He was lucky to have someone like Yoongi to share his life with, to share the good and the bad.

The platinum haired male was surprised when he felt Hoseok’s lips on his. As soon as Hoseok’s hands found his dyed locks, he knew they weren’t getting any sleep tonight. Yoongi lifted his wife so his legs were wrapped around his middle. The older male pushed Hoseok into the wall, causing a moan to emit from the little brunette from the pain-filled pleasure he felt. When his mouth opened, Yoongi’s tongue dove in and dominated the kiss. They pulled away, panting against each other.

“I want you to erase him.”

“Say less.”

Today marked a year since Hoseok came into Yoongi and Taehyung’s life. Yet, today also marked the day that Hoseok lost his wedding ring. He was frantically tearing the house apart as he tried to find the ring. He tried to backtrack everything he had done yesterday to see if there was the chance that his ring slipped off. He was ready to start pulling his hair out. He felt like shit for losing that ring. It was something that meant the world to the little brunette. It was physical proof that he belonged to Yoongi.

He covered his face with his hands. Yoongi was going to be so mad at him for losing the ring. Hoseok shook his head, Yoongi would probably be disappointed, and somehow that felt worse. It felt worse to know that Yoongi would be disappointed in him for losing the ring he gave him. He could deal with Yoongi being mad at him because the platinum haired male could never stay angry at him for long. But, Yoongi could stay disappointed for a long time, and Hoseok didn’t want that.

“Don’t cry, mommy.”

“Mommy lost something very important, Tae.”

“Can I help you look for it?”

“You love to be mommy’s little helper, don’t you?”

Taehyung smiled as he delicately pulled his parent’s hands from his face. Hoseok wanted to sob when he felt those tiny hands wiping his tears away. The older male grabbed Taehyung’s hands and kissed them before moving to press kisses all over the child’s face. Taehyung erupted into a fit of giggles as his parents showered him with love and affection. Hoseok pulled away and rubbed their noses together.

“Should we look outside, mommy?”

“Tae, you’re right! We were gardening yesterday!”

Hoseok held one of Taehyung’s hands as he walked the child outside. The little brunette was so preoccupied with finding the ring that he didn’t see how Taehyung looked back and winked to Yoongi. The platinum haired male gave his son a gummy smile and he carried on with their plan. Yoongi had recruited his son into assisting him with a plan that he should’ve done a long time ago.

Taehyung watched as his parent ran all over the backyard, searching around in the grass for what he had lost. He couldn’t help but giggle every time his parent threw his body back on the grass and groaned. Hoseok couldn’t believe that this was happening. He couldn’t believe that he had turned his home upside down and he still couldn’t find his ring. If it wasn’t outside then he had no idea where the ring could’ve been. He wanted to cry until he filled a reservoir. He wanted to dig a hole and bury himself alive. He wanted to scream until he lost his voice. He wanted to bang his head against the fence until he gave himself a concussion.

He just wanted his wedding ring.

Hoseok didn’t know how long he spent laying there fighting with himself to not cry. He looked up and that’s when he saw Taehyung holding a little hand out for him to take. Hoseok sighed. The ring wasn’t outside, either. He took the small hand and smiled as Taehyung attempted to help him up. Hoseok was barely paying attention to where his son was taking him. All he was thinking about was how he was going to explain this to Yoongi.

The little brunette nearly slipped, causing him to look down to see rose petals littering the floor. He blinked a few times, letting it register in his mind that there were rose petals leading him and Taehyung to his shared room. Taehyung smiled as he led his parent into his room. He released Hoseok’s hand, allowing the little brunette to take in the sight before him.

Hoseok covered his mouth with a hand as he saw that there were candles lit all around their room. There were rose petals laid out in the shape of a heart on their white bed sheets. While all of those sweet gestures were lovely, it was the sight of Yoongi on one knee that made him lose his breath. Yoongi was giving a gummy smile as he saw his wife was fanning his eyes, trying to prevent himself from crying.

“Aish, you’re so emotional, Hobi.”

“Wh-what’s going on, Yoon?”

“Move your hand. I want to see your smile.”

Hoseok stepped towards the platinum haired male, gasping as Yoongi snatched his left hand. The older male took a deep breath before saying, “Today was the day you walked into my life. Today was the day that you took a train to Daegu to become not only my wife, but Taehyung’s mommy. Today was the day you left your old life behind so that you could make a new one with us. Today was the day you became a Min.”

“You know,” Yoongi squeezed his lover’s hand, “I think we made the best of this. I know I told you I don’t do love, but you changed my life. I wasn’t a morning person before you came along, but once I saw you dancing in the kitchen to one of my songs, I knew I wanted to be a morning person just so I could see you happy like that again. I wasn’t a kind or sweet person, but seeing you blush when I kissed your cheek made me want to be kind and sweet. What I’m trying to say is, I wasn’t a good person until you came into my life… until you became my wife and Taehyung’s mom.”

There were fresh tears making their journeys down Hoseok’s cheeks. Yoongi smiled at the little brunette, “I know I didn’t make this easy on you, but I’m thankful you’re so stubborn. You stuck by my side those first few days, even when I was being moody and difficult. You made the best of the situation we were in, and it made me want to do the same. I’ve told you before, but you’ve got a way about you that makes people want to better themselves. You make me a better man, a better friend, a better husband, and a better father.”

Hoseok choked back a sob when he saw Yoongi reach behind him to pull the missing silver band from his pocket. Yoongi chuckled, “Yeah, sorry I made you worry, but I wanted to do this right. I hope you don’t mind but I wanted to propose to you the right way, with the ring I got for you. Hoseok, my best friend, the light of my life, my lover… I know we’re already married but… will you do it again with me? Jung Hoseok, will you marry me and become a Min?”

“Oh my God, yes, Yoongi, yes!”

As soon as the silver band was back on his finger where it belonged, Hoseok tackled his husband to the ground. Hoseok was kissing Yoongi’s face all over, causing the platinum haired male to burst into laughter. Yoongi already knew Hoseok would say yes, but a wave of relief still washed over him when he heard that magical word, yes. He knew Hoseok was his wife, but now it felt real. Before it was forced, but now it was natural. They both wanted this. They wanted each other for the rest of their lives. It didn’t feel like an arranged marriage if both of them wanted this.

Yoongi and Hoseok laughed when they felt Taehyung jump on top of them. Taehyung smiled as he felt his parents wrap their arms around him and kiss his cheeks. This felt real. This felt natural. This felt like a family, like a home. Yoongi smiled down at his wife, at the man who found a way to worm his way into everyone’s hearts like he was always there. Taehyung looked at his parents and gave his infamous boxy smile.

“Can I be the ring bearer? Can I? Can I?”

“Aish, you really are mommy and daddy’s good boy!”
