Work Text:
He was shaking, more like quaking if you counted the way his limbs felt like they were being forcibly vibrated. His bones were knocking against each other and he couldn’t stop the stream of tears that fell down his face. What was he doing? Why was he here? Dabi didn’t have the answers to these questions, no one did.
His gaze slid to the body beside him. Tomura slept soundly beside him, because he trusted Dabi, trusted him to keep him safe, and watch him while he slept. He could ask him, ask him why he was here and why he couldn’t remember a single thing about himself. He smiled weakly, and he pushed the hair on Tomura’s forehead away from his eyes. He had scars, just like him, he was tired just like him. And they wanted similar things, Dabi knew that much.
Dabi didn’t mean to wake him up, he didn’t want the other to wake up and see him crying, see him weak and questioning his very existence. But little did he know Tomura didn’t care. Tomura didn’t think him weak, he sat up and looked up at Dabi with blurry eyes. Dabi didn’t bother rubbing the tears away, they were streaming down his face too quickly, his eyes easily a waterfall. Tomura seemed to stare at him in shock, because Dabi had never really cried before, not in front of him, or anyone. Dabi felt warmth around him the second he closed his eyes to let the bubbling tears fall. He felt safe at that moment. His eyes opened wide in shock when he felt lips against his cheeks. The wetness there spread, and he saw Tomura kissing his tears away. His tongue came out from his mouth to capture the waterworks that fell quickly from his eyes.
“Pain is always constant, in this unfair place where war surrounds us, there are moments where torment takes us over, and it’s uncontrollable. Even you are included in this torment, unable to think, unable to run away from the overwhelming sensations.” Tomura spoke softly against his skin, and Dabi felt himself leaning into the kisses, accepting the affection. He wasn’t sure what the feelings could be called but he was comforted thanks to Tomura, one of the many reasons he’s decided to stay.
