Work Text:
A rainy day in Mondstadt. And like any other rainy day, it only lasted for about a solid 30 minutes, until the sun shone again. Not that it affected me in any way though, because I was, of course, too busy with my potions and experiments within the comfort of my house. Oh pardon me, did i say house? i meant the small, crowded, one small room in which i slept, ate and experimented in.
For the past 8 days. straight.
How am i alive you ask? It's quite simple.
I'm not.
"... Did you not sleep again last night?" Diluc softly asked Albedo, as he walked in through the front door, his usual black coat, drenched, due to the unforeseen morning rain.
"No.. i suppose not. How has your day been?" the blonde hair boy asked, a gentle smile on his face despite the clear eyebags under his soul-less eyes.
"Not bad, just got drenched in the rain. Would you like me to make some coffee for you?"
Albedo replied, "It's alright, i already had some last night, or was that this morning? Oh, if you dont mind, before you go take a shower, can i ask you for a little favour?"
Curious, but no signs of the emotions shown on his face, Diluc simply nodded his head gently.
He knew that, whatever the shorter man asked of him, that he would be in no danger. Afterall, they had been "meeting" for 2 years already, but not neccesarily dating yet. The only "happening" that has happened to him so far because of Albedo's shannanigans has been that his hair once turned pink, instead of his iconic red. He didn't go outside for a whole month.
"Great! I'll get everything ready. You go ahead and take your shower. It'll be ready by the time you finish." The shorter one chirped happily, despite his clear fatigue.
Albedo hummed softly, as he started to finish off his experimental work, while the taller man left the room towards the bathroom. You didn't of course think that Albedo was working eight whole days straight without a reason, right? Blasphemy!
The reality was, was that Albedo was a softy. A huge softy.
Him and Diluc have been a "thing" for almost 2 years now, but not quite actually dating. No one had simply asked each other yet. They just clicked, and started to meet each other often, and then in no time, met each other daily.
He had always expected Diluc to be the one to ask him, if he was being honest, considering that he relied on him for most things that required dominance and lead. He himself was more of a follower, instead of a leader. Unless of course it had something to do with science. But Diluc never once hinted towards such a thing. The red haired man always just stayed by his side, no questions or hints, no change in his behaviour or expressions. Just the same old Diluc.
He couldn't handle it anymore. He had to officially make Diluc his. So that Jean, and whoever else eye'ing him couldn't get to him.
Possessive you say?
Yeah... you're right.
No cap he was possessive of Diluc. He had been by his side for 2 years. Thick and thin. Even when he accidently turned his hair pink due to a shampoo that he had made using Silk Flowers instead of Juyuen Chilli, he didn't say a word of dissaprovement to him, and just stayed inside the house. Even when Albedo didn't sleep for days and got cranky sometimes, he never once got mad at him or told him off... he only ever asked if he needed help, and have supported the blonde-haired man until now, in silence and comfort.
It's true that the man is not a man of many words. But in silence he has told Albedo so much. He has made him feel so much.
So much happiness.
Albedo could hear footsteps coming out of the shower just as he finished his experimental work. He gripped onto the object tightly in his hands, the object that took him months of trial and error, and eight whole days of pure work to get right. All that was left, was for the love of his life to walk out of the showers, and towards him.
Albedo saw red in the distance, obviously his lovers hair. He kneeled down, one knee on the floor of his messy room, and the object of his devotion in his hand, reaching out towards Diluc.
A ring with a single jewel in the middle. Red as fire itself. The ring band made out of gold, that almost shone like the sun. Two colours that represented them each, together, into a single object. He had used each of their hair, some resin, crystal butterflies and a few other items to make the object. It's harder than it sounds, trust.
"I-I think it's time that we make it official, Diluc! We have been together for 2 years, and you have been by my side this entire time. Your gentle smile, your deep voice, your maid-apron looks, and your red long hair, are everything and only thing i need in my life. You are like the flasks that i use when experimenting. The litmus test to my love and reason of life. Y-you're the reason i started to wear long coats, because i wanted to match you! P-please be my boyfriend!" Albedo blurted out, his face as red as Xiangling's cooking.
Silence filled the room, for what seemed like forever, until a sound broke the ice.
"Ehe?!" A high pitched voice responded.
A voice that didn't fit the profile of a 5'10 beast of a man who wields a burning claymore. A voice that did not fit the profile of a man who wears a black coat even during summer.
The voice wasn't Dilucs.
Albedo looked up instantly.
"Klee isn't Master Diluc! Klee came here looking for her bag! Have you seen it? I left my cookies and my treasure in it, and i cant find it anymore. Klee left it in Master Diluc's tavern bar earlier today, while drinking milk with Qiqi, and then we went to pick up butterflies-"
Klee did not realise in that moment, that Albedo had fainted already and checked out from the sheer embarrasement and nervousness. And Albedo did not realise that Klee wasn't the only one who had heard his confession.
For Diluc too, had heard it while following Klee from behind. Of course, he hid behind a wall, before listening to it all. Afterall, he had to get back at him for the pink hair right?
Oh, and Klee's bag? Qiqi stole it, saying she was going to use it to carry around her coconut milk.
