Chapter 1: Two Dots Part 1

Chapter Text

Todoroki had connected two dots. He’d connected them! The clues had all been there and he couldn’t believe he hadn’t put it together sooner. For weeks he’d been convinced that Midoriya was All Might’s secret love child, but how wrong he had been! It all started earlier that day when he and the rest of class 1A were enjoying some downtime in the dorms. Somehow the conversation had shifted to Midoriya’s parents.

“My mom is pretty amazing! She basically raised me on her own. My dad was never really an active part of my life,” the green-haired boy said with one of his trademark smiles.

“Heh, that asshole was even more useless than you Deku,” scoffed Bakugou, “He made Aunty Inko cry and he set my mom’s curtains on fire once.”

Todoroki’s head snapped up at that. Why would All Might light someone’s curtains on fire?

“Kacchan, I told you that was an accident. His quirk always got a little unstable during spring allergy season.”

“Midoriya,” Todoroki cut in before their conversation could devolve into a fight, “You’ve never mentioned your father before. What was his quirk?”

“He had a fire quirk! I guess we have that in common Todoroki…” Midoriya continued on as if he hadn’t just thrown Todoroki’s world off its axis (again). Midoriya’s father was a jerk with a fire quirk. Midoriya himself had an extremely powerful quirk that could potentially surpass even All Might. It was so obvious! Midoriya wasn’t All Might’s secret love child, he was Endeavor’s! Midoriya was his long-lost half-brother!

A knock on his door brought him out of his thoughts. Midoriya, his brother, stuck his head through the door.

“Hey, Todoroki I just wanted to let you know that dinner is ready! What are you doing?” Todoroki had crossed the room and placed a hand on Midoriya’s shoulder. He couldn’t imagine how hard it must have been to have to refer to his own brother by his surname, a surname that should have been his as well. He might not have known they were brothers at first, but that wasn’t going to stop him from being the best older brother he could be to his friend.

“Midoriya I… Thank you. I want you to know that I… just… You should call me Shouto.”

“Uh, sure? You can call me Izuku then if you want?”

Todoroki had to fight the sudden urge to cry.

“Todo- sorry um Shouto, are you feeling alright?” Midoriya, no Izuku, asked. His fears didn’t seem to be assuaged when he was pulled into a very awkward hug.

Midoriya was worried about Todoroki, or Shouto as he had asked to be called. It had been a few days since the other boy had started acting strangely around him. He had hoped the class outing to the mall would be a time to stage a quiet intervention, but the universe, or at least the league of villains, seemed to have other ideas. He dodged a blast of blue fire from Dabi and considered the serious possibility that their class was cursed. A huge wall of ice sprung up between him and the fire villain from where Todoroki had just incapacitated Spinner.

“Don’t touch my brother,” he said, icy tone a contrast with the flames licking up his arm, and what? Brother? Midoriya’s mind started whirring with the possibilities. Dabi did have a similar fire quirk to Endeavor and seemed to use a similar fighting style as Todoroki.

“So you finally figured it out Shouto. I have to say I’m a bit impressed,” Dabi drawled.

“Dabi? Did you know about my brother? How?” Todoroki was doing his confused head tilt, while Dabi seemed equally confused by his confusion.

“What are you talking about Shouto? Why wouldn’t I know that I’m your brother?” Todoroki’s eyes widened.

“You’re also my long-lost brother?”

“Yeah it’s me Touya, what do you mean also?” Izuku, who at this point had stopped attempting to do battle in favor of watching the unfolding drama, tensed as two pairs of eyes landed on him.

“Touya-nii I’d like to formally introduce you to our youngest brother, Izuku Midoriya, Endeavor’s secret love child.” Izuku stood absolutely rigid with shock at the sheer ridiculousness that had just left his friend’s mouth. Just… what?

“Wait, I thought he was All Might’s secret love child!” Said Dabi, and wait why did he look like he was considering this. Todoroki meanwhile was nodding sagely.

“Yes I thought so too at first, but then I learned some more about his father. Reason one, he has been an absent figure in Izuku’s life, probably because he was trying to surpass All Might. Two, he’s an asshole with a fire quirk who made Izuku’s mother cry.”

“That does sound like Endeavor,” Dabi muttered, stroking his burnt chin thoughtfully.

“Third and final point!” Todoroki held up a finger like a detective revealing the final clue to a murder mystery, “His father has a fire quirk that ended up burning Mrs. Bakugou’s curtains!” Dabi stared at Todoroki. Surely he would talk some sense into him, right?

“Oh my god, it all makes sense! His quirk is probably strong enough to surpass All Might’s too!” Izuku smacked his forehead. Great now there were two of them.

“It’s kind of a relief to know I wasn’t the only one who thought he was All Might’s secret love child though.” Todoroki looked a little bashful.

“Hmm. Shouto, have you considered that he could be both All Might and Endeavor’s kid? Maybe they were hit by a weird quirk?” Todoroki gasped.

“Touya you’re a genius! Why didn’t I think of that!” Izuku felt a frustrated scream starting to build in the back of his throat, but it was interrupted by the entrance of Kacchan.

“What are you idiots doing standing around? Come on Icy Hot, I expect this kind of uselessness from Deku but you should know better!” Todoroki bristled as Dabi lit his hands on fire.

“Don’t talk about our little brother like that Bakugou.”

“You’re little brother? Icy Hot what the fuck?”

“Kacchan please tell them that my dad is Hisashi Midoriya, not Endeavor!” Izuku was close to tears.

“Of course your asshole dad isn’t Endeavor! Why the fuck wouldn’t I have mentioned that?”

“But you said he had a fire quirk!”

“Yeah Icy Hot, a fire-breathing quirk!”

“He lit Aunty Mitsuki’s curtains on fire because he sneezed.”

“Oh.” There was an awkward silence as both Todoroki brothers seemed to procès this new information. In the distance, they heard Kamui Woods shout the name of his special attack. The pros must have finally arrived.

“Well, I guess that’s my cue. I’m sure I’ll be seeing you all again,” Dabi said as he stepped backward into the portal of swirling mist that had appeared behind him.

“Midoriya, I’d like to apologize. I apparently misinterpreted some things.” Todoroki would have looked stoic if it weren’t for the embarrassed flush painted across his face.

“Don’t worry about it Todoroki. Let’s just… all forget that this happened okay?”

“That sounds good.”

After speaking to the police and the pro heroes all Izuku wanted to do was go to bed. He paused at the sight of a plain white envelope with his name on it sitting on his pillow. Opening it he found a letter scrawled in messy handwriting.

Dear Izuku,

Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me. Believe me, I understand the urge to pretend not to be related to that flaming dumpster fire.

Sincerely Touya-nii

Izuku dropped his head onto his pillow to muffle his scream of frustration. Down the hall, Todoroki sat in deep contemplation. Midoriya had said that he wanted to forget that this whole misunderstanding had ever happened. He wondered if he should tell him that he had already told the rest of his family that they had a secret little brother. Probably not, after all, it was unlikely to come up again.

Mitsuki Bakugou stared with a furrowed brow at the package that had arrived in the mail earlier. Why the fuck was the flame hero Endeavor sending her new curtains?
