MONDAY 16TH APRIL 2001, 10:23PM
Okay, there are a lot of people here... shit...
The large hall of Giorno’s house has been filled rather quickly with politicians, world leaders, celebrities and ‘friends’ from all parts of the world to show their respect and celebrate the big day; Giorno’s sweet 16th birthday.
There are too many people, who was in charge of the guest list?
A classical band plays their music beautifully in the background but nonsense conversations infuse the air more - that annoyed Giorno. Giorno knew they weren’t truly here to genuinely celebrate his birthday but to make themselves look good so Giorno would agree to their deals, papers and hurtful policies. I’d still decline their deals even if they attend my birthday parties. Giorno would not be swayed that easily.
No, I believe it was Polnareff who was in charge of the guest list...
Giorno had been pulled to the centre of the hall to talk to some random politician about some boring story about him and his wife’s trip to England. Dear God, will he ever stop talking? Giorno looked around to distract himself. Smile and nod, just smile and nod ... God I’m such a fake. Eventually, he was staring at himself in the wall mirror to the left side of the hall - he looked stunning; he had his hair loose on his shoulders but still kept his iconic buns, chose a blue velvet suit with a ladybug pin to the collar, and black shiny five-eyelet Classic Oxford shoes to top the birthday outfit all off. He was happy about his fit at least. But dear God he would love to speak to someone he actually knew and liked.
Where’s Mista?
Giorno always preferred small gatherings, I mean small, only consisting of Polnareff and Mista - Trish has now gone to the United States for her studies into Fashion, leaving the boys to rule Italy. Giorno particularly likes gatherings such as the garden meetings they can have over the weekends, or the restaurant dinners talks on a random weekday. Except on Thursdays - because of Mista obviously. He didn’t want anyone else. No one understood him more than them two now.
I regret putting Polnareff in charge of all this...
His eyes wandering around the hall again, in search of either Polnareff to complain to or Mista to talk to. There, at the corner, was Dr Jotaro Kujo holding Polnareff surrounded by some American celebrities of science. Giorno liked Dr Kujo, he trusts him to and is forever in debt to him for what his father did to his family. Though it would make sense to hold such a huge grudge against Giorno, Dr Kujo forgave him and told him it’s in the past now, it wasn’t even his fault and should focus on the future. Giorno smiled at the memory and looked around some more to find his main person of interest.
Mista was nowhere to be found. Maybe he’s gone to the bathroom or hooking up with some girl in one of the hallways. Mista is a charming and confident young man, how could any girl not fall for him. At least someone is getting the girls. Giorno then contemplates over the fact he might not even have the chance to start dating since he’s so busy with running Italy - will he even get married? Have kids? Giorno sighed and realised he was still surrounded by random people and the politician is still talking about this god awful England trip. I need to get out of here...
“If you would excuse me, everybody,” Giorno said politely with a smile.
“O-Oh yes of course Don Giovanna!” the politician said chuckling. With that, Giorno turned around on his heel and walking towards the entrance of the hall.
The hallway echoed Giorno’s heels as he walked towards the back of his house. Was it really a house? More like a mansion, it was really just a building where all the important meeting and events, such as this one, occurred. He wouldn’t call this his ‘home’, though it did house of the most enchanted garden he ever laid eyes on. Yeah because I made it...
At last, he reached the golden arch doors of the back of the mansion and opened them slowly. Ah, finally. The cool air of Naples swiftly surrounded him and he felt calm. It was just what he needed. Closing the doors behind him, Giorno walks towards the mid-high stone wall. He looked ahead and there it was his beautiful garden. His garden under the full moon’s light made the place look truly magically, something from an old Disney’ Fantasia movie (which he was a fan of).
The garden was long, almost looks like it was never-ending - the house was on a very large plot of land. Giorno grew everything by hand or/and by the help of Gold Experience. The garden grew rather fast and now is the home for lots of creatures from the frogs in the misty pond to the left corner, to the owls that lived in the oak tree placed in the centre of the garden. The fairy-like lights were on, giving the garden a blue glow. It was captivating.
Giorno leans against the stone wall and looks up to the night sky. It was clear, the moon and the stars are out. Truly adding even more magic to his birthday - he appreciated it. Staring longer at the sky made his mind wander to them. Oh, I would love to see them right now. It just didn’t feel right not having them here, he couldn’t have achieved all this without their help. The guilt builds up again inside him and he begins to tremble a bit. It should have been me gone instead. I’m the one that risked it, my idea to overthrow Diavolo... it should’ve been me. I’m sorry Bruno, I’m sorry Abbacchio, I’m sorry Narancia... Giorno forced himself to stop thinking about them, it would have gotten out of hand - he breathes in and out. They wouldn’t want me being like this. I need to be happy, it’s my birthday after all.
His mind wanders again but to Mista. Really, where is he? Maybe drinking all the alcohol there is with some girl. Player. That actually makes Giorno think about his own relationship status. He’s never been with anyone before. Initially busy with school and now with the whole Mafia on his plate, he’s far too busy. It would be nice to have someone close like that, be it be a girl or a-
“Boo!”
“Ahh!” Giorno jumped, hand on his chest as if he was holding his heart. Before he could turn to see who would disturb his thinking, the culprit was laughing. Mista?
“I just knew you would be here, GioGio,” Mista laughed hard, “you’re more predictable than you make yourself out to be!” Mista joins Giorno’s right side and leans on the wall.
If Giorno looked good, you best believe Mista did too. Giorno liked it when his best friend dressed up and finally gets rid of his hat. I like it when his hair is out, it’s nicely cut short and fluffy. It does suit him entirely. He wore a simple black suit, which was a little tight because you can see his muscles trying to pop out a bit, with the white shirt being open to the collar, revealing his silver cross necklace. He just refuses to wear a tie, huh? But overall, he looked good.
“Oi, meanie,” Giorno hits Mista’s biceps. Of course, they would be hard. Mista does workout constantly, what did you expect? Giorno returns onto the wall, turns and faces Mista “Anyways, I was looking for you before, where were you?”
“O-Oh erm nothing to worry about,” Mista rubbed the back of his neck with an awkward laugh. Definitely just been with a girl.
“Alright, fair enough,” Giorno wiggles his eyebrow indicating he knows what’s up.
“A-And what about you? What are you doing here, instead of being in there?” Mista questions him pointing with his thumb in the direction of the hall inside. “Avoiding people again?”
“You know me so well,” Giorno smiled, “To be honest, I really needed some fresh air, I've just been... thinking,”
“Ah, I get you,”
They stay comfortably silent, just staring at the garden. After a while, Mista broke the silence.
“You know, when I was 16 I had no idea what the hell I was going to be or do in life. I was failing school and was thinking of dropping out - which, if you haven’t noticed, I did,” he joked whilst slightly elbowing Giorno’s arm, which invited Giorno to laugh as well. “But, I look at you and I admire how you had a set plan from the beginning of joining the Mafia, I don’t know if you planned this even before then,” I did “So, I’m somewhat proud and envy how committed you are on your goals at such a young age. It’s good, and you should never lose that focused head of yours. And it’s not just me, I know for sure Bruno would be triple proud of you, Narancia would be super psyched for you and Abbacchio... well he would’ve been happy too I bet,” Mista puts his arm around Giorno’s shoulders, “This isn’t your ordinary ‘I want to become a doctor’ or ‘I want to be a teacher’ you became the boss, the Don, of the fucking Mafia!? That’s some serious business right there for a 16-year-old!... I knew you were special from the beginning,” Mista poked Giorno’s cheek and giggled.
Mista...
Oh...
What’s this feeling? What is it?
Giorno couldn’t stop staring at Mista. What he just said, it’s sounded like it came straight from the heart. Is this what he thought of me this whole time? You know, in this moonlight, Mista does look good-
Giorno clears his throat. “Aw man, Mista that’s really nice of you to say that, really made my birthday,” he smiled. Mista turns and meets his eyes smiling. I do like his smiles, it’s always are so warm...
“Anytime dude, that’s what I’m here for! Y’know, I do see myself as your motivator as well as your bodyguard and best friend,” He turns back forward, looking up at the starry sky.
“Oh really?” Giorno giggled, slightly covering his giggles with his hand.
“Oh! I nearly forgot!” Mista stands up properly, shoving his hand in one of his back pockets. Seconds later, Mista hands him a tiny black box, his whole body bouncy with excitement for Giorno to open it quick.
“Oh,” Giorno was truly surprised. A present? A present. He’s never been given a present on his birthday before. This is truly a first.
Giorno grabs it and opens it. Laying inside, comfortably on a black cushion, was a gold and diamond ladybug brooch. It’s... it’s...
“Pretty beautiful, right?” Mista seemed pretty pleased with himself, as Giorno was speechless and just staring at the brooch, “I noticed how you liked collecting ladybug jewellery, especially the ones you had on your pink suit when I first met you. And I searched for your birthday gemstone and added gold to it because why not,” Mista grinned coyly.
“I-I love it... I’ll even wear it now-“ Giorno took it out of its box, quickly but carefully, and pinned it next to the one he has on.
I love it. He does really know me so well. I’m lost for words...
“Well, I’m glad you liked it! Now...” Mista turned Giorno’s body to face him and place both hands on his shoulders, staring into Giorno’s eyes.
Oh...
“Best we get back to the party, ey? We cut the cake, we all dance a bit, I drive you home and you can have the rest of the night off. I’ll entertain them world leaders longer for ya?” He winked, “sounds like a plan?”
Giorno nodded “Yeah, thank you Mista, all this, being my friend and all, I couldn’t have asked for more,” he smiled tenderly. I really mean it...
“It’s alright, that’s what best friends are for, right?” He lets go of Giorno. Giorno missed the heat on his shoulders. “I’ll meet you inside then,” With that being said, Mista turns and walks away whistling, disappearing into the house.
Holy shit
Oh no
I think I know what this is...
Am I catching feelings for Mista?
Giorno was confused but somewhat happy. He slightly rubbed the new brooch on his chest. Yeah... I’m so confused, what the fuck am I gonna do now?
