Work Text:
Doppo doesn’t get why Hifumi always gets all excited about Valentine's Day. For him it's just a capitalistic celebration that puts way too much pressure on women. Doppo can remember how stressed his mother was buying chocolates for her co-workers and boss at her previous job. Fortunately, her actual work is better now and doesn't encourage that kind of stuff, but still, it's kinda sad that a lot of women feel pressured to spend tons of money.
The same is going to happen to men once White Day arrives, so it isn't completely unfair, but still… The unspoken pressure seems really suffocating. Doppo doesn’t even want to think that he'll soon enter the corporate world too…
Hifumi, on the other hand, has always been excited about this day. He likes how the stores are filled with chocolates and stuff to make chocolates, cute molds and all of that. Well, he likes to cook so it's kinda understandable. Still, stores get crowded with women, so it's not like he can go there and buy whatever he wants easily. Besides, since he is so popular, a bunch of girls try to confess their feelings for him on this day. Sometimes they even chase him through the school… How can he get excited about Valentine's Day when things like those happen?
"Hey! Can you move over? I want to talk to Hifumi-kun."
Can't they notice how scared he is? How he can't stop shaking while he clings to Doppo’s back?
"Hifumi-kun, you don't have to say anything. Just accept this!"
Just pushing and forcing their feelings on him, hoping that by some unknown reason Hifumi will reciprocate them. Can they really call something like that love?
"I know that you're scared, Izanami-kun. But can you at least look this way?"
Do they even care about him to begin with?
"Your brother said that my hair is super flashy and pretty and that his female friends love it…" Hifumi says on their way to their special spot for lunch. He tries to sound cheerful, but he isn't smiling at all, and just has a far away look on his face. "Maybe I should dye it? Would I look good with black hair?~"
Doppo remembers his brother saying that Hifumi looks like a character from a shoujo manga or something like that when he first met him. Still, even if Hifumi had a rainbow on his head, he's sure that he would still look charming.
"I don't think that you should change it for the sake of someone else…" It's weird to imagine Hifumi with another hair color. Doppo won’t mind too much if that is what Hifumi wanted, but he wants to do it to diverge attention from himself… "Besides, wouldn't everybody be curious about why you dyed your hair?"
"Hmm… You didn't answer my question though," Hifumi continues playfully. "Would I look that bad? I'm hurt~"
"There's no way that you would look bad, dummy," Doppo replies quickly, mentally cursing himself for falling into Hifumi's game. Hifumi could dye his hair rainbow and Doppo would still find him attractive, but that doesn't mean that he wants to admit that out loud. "B-But your current color suits you better."
"What about red hair like yours?" Hifumi asks as he latches onto Doppo, sounding happier this time. "I think that your hair is way prettier~"
"H-Hey, don't cling to me!" Doppo shoves Hifumi off lightly, but he just giggles.
They continue their way just like that. It's a bit annoying, but Doppo is secretly glad that Hifumi seems more happy now; he's really smiling this time and that makes Doppo's chest feel lighter.
That is, until they hear a nearby conversation.
"I couldn't talk to Izanami-kun," a girl says. From the tone of her voice it seems like she had been crying. "He was way too scared and then Kannonzaka-kun got in the middle…"
"Seriously?! I get that he's totally dreamy, but shouldn't he be over that?" Another girl replies, probably her friend. She sounds a little outraged. "It's been so long since, well, you know … How lame. He isn't worth it, Ayumi."
Doppo walks up to her immediately, without even noticing. Who does she think she is, running her mouth like that? She doesn't have any idea of what Hifumi has been through. It's really easy to say things like that when she doesn't live her life in fear.
He really feels his blood boil.
He's about to give her a piece of his mind when a muffled sob stops him.
Hifumi is crying.
She really touched a sore spot…
Hifumi's safety is way more important than starting fights though.
Doppo does his best to hold himself back and after taking a deep breath, he goes back to Hifumi's side.
"C'mon, let's get out of here." Doppo takes Hifumi's hand and leads the way.
Sometimes Hifumi feels way too overwhelmed and torn apart by the world. The offhand remarks about his phobia, the harshness of his classmates… it's too much for him to handle. He doesn't want to be like this either; he wants to go back to his cheerful and happy self, living his life without fear.
How long will it take him to be okay again?
He feels bad for all the girls that have tried to confess to him today. They must have put a lot of love and thought in their gifts. Hifumi knows that he can't return their feelings, even if he weren't afraid of them, but at least he would like to thank them for their consideration and thoughtfulness.
Besides, he really admires them for having the courage to confess to him… He really wishes that he could do the same.
"We're here," Doppo announces as he opens the rooftop door, letting go of his hand. Hifumi already misses his comforting warmth.
Fortunately, it's empty right now. Not many people like to have lunch here since it gets very windy and hot, which is why it's the perfect spot for them to hang around. Quietness for Doppo and no girls for Hifumi.
Once they sit down, Hifumi allows himself to fully cry.
Everybody tells him that he has to get over it, but nobody is willing to help him or anything.
"Here." Doppo hands him a packet of pocket tissues, which Hifumi gladly accepts.
Well, almost everybody.
Doppo just holds him, soft and patient. He's aware that he can't pull him back together, that's something that only Hifumi can do, so he just stays by his side, steadying his trembling hands and drying his tears once he has cried all that he needed to cry. His presence is soothing and calming. Despite sometimes being a bundle of nerves, Doppo's company brings him peace and hope. The world may seem cold and indifferent to his struggles, but Doppo's hand on his head reminds him that there's also kindness in the world. That he doesn't have to go through this alone, because Doppo is willing to be there for him.
"Last year you spent most of the day hiding in the restroom," Doppo says softly as he strokes his hair. "But you haven't done that today. That's something."
Sometimes fear seems to devour his entire existence and he can't imagine a future where things get better, where he's able to live a normal life. But Doppo helps him to change his perspective. Things may be bleak now, but that doesn't mean that they will be like this forever.
With Doppo on his side, Hifumi dares to dream a little.
He doesn't have enough courage to make those little dreams reality yet, but it's nice to fantasize about a world where he dares to face his fears.
"Want to listen to something?" Doppo asks after a while, offering him one of his earbuds.
Hifumi just hums and puts the earbud on. He isn't crying anymore, but keeps leaning his head on Doppo's shoulder.
"I've been trying to draw the ship in a bottle that you gave me," Doppo starts talking and the music becomes background noise for him. Usually he's the one that fills the silence, but it's nice to hear Doppo talk. "I hadn't drawn in a while, so all the sketches I've made are pretty awful… I'm really out of practice."
It sounds like Doppo is being too hard on himself again. Hifumi is sure that they aren't that bad as Doppo makes them sound. Still, he doesn't have the energy to rebut him.
"Still, it's fun. I didn't really notice how detailed the ship was until I started," Doppo sounds happy… It seems like he likes the challenge ahead of him. That's good, Hifumi is happy that his gift has motivated Doppo to draw again and that he appreciates it in a new light now. "You must have spent a lot of time making it…"
Doppo's voice is really beautiful and pleasant. Sometimes Hifumi likes to compare it to ocean waves, soothing and relaxing, always bringing him home. Just the sound of it makes him feel better. But it can also be merciless and unforgiving when people get on his bad side, drowning them ruthlessly.
Most of his classmates think that Doppo is a cold and distant person or a nervous wreck, but that can't be further from the truth. Doppo is extremely kind and warm, he just worries too much, because he cares too much. He may be a little anxious and shy, but he only needs a little push to come out of his shell! Doppo's world is a little bit complex, but very beautiful, Hifumi loves to hear about what's on his mind.
He always notices the smallest thing and never dismisses his troubles or worries, always willing to listen to him or to lend him his shoulder. Doppo is really an amazing guy!
Also… Doppo looks so handsome and cute when he gets all fired up or when he's concentrated! Hifumi didn't think that it was possible to be handsome and cute at the same time, but somehow Doppo was.
He's so glad to have met him and to be his friend.
He never urges him to feel better, he just tells him that he is here and that's enough for Hifumi. The fact that he's willing to stay by his side, no matter what, is enough for him.
"We should eat, it's getting kinda late," Doppo says softly, giving his hand a light squeeze while taking off his earbud.
"I don't really feel like eating…" Hifumi replies faintly. Crying always leaves him with a headache, and he just wants to sleep it away while Doppo holds his hand.
"If you don't eat now, you'll feel even worse later," Doppo points out, always the voice of reason. "Can you try eating half of it?"
The rest of the day happened in the same fashion, which is kinda sad and kinda infuriating considering that the fact that Hifumi had been crying really shows on his face…
Doppo is beyond glad when classes are finally over. Hifumi must be more relieved than him though, as it had been a pretty tiring day for him. Maybe they should go to a coffee shop or something… Doppo has some cash on him, so maybe they can share something if Hifumi wants to…
Or maybe he's way too tired from today and just wants to go home… Still, it wouldn't hurt to aー
"E-Excuse me…" A girl's voice breaks their silence as they're leaving the classroom. Doppo instinctively puts himself in front of Hifumi.
"A-Ah, I don't want to talk to Izanami-kun," she says quickly, looking flustered. "Who I want is to talk to you, Kannonzaka-kun…"
Him?
She wants to talk to him?
He and Hifumi are known to be weirdos, but Hifumi is the extremely handsome weirdo, while he's just the cold and distant weirdo. To say that he's taken aback by this is an understatement.
Doppo can only drop his defensive posture and open his eyes wide at her words. His mind still can't believe what he just heard.
"I'll wait in the bathroom," Hifumi says quickly and walks away. Leaving Doppo with no choice but to hear her out.
He's happy, he really is. Doppo is an amazing person and he's glad that someone else has noticed that too! Besides, she seemed like a nice and polite girl! And she has good taste, as she likes Doppo after all.
But his chest feels heavy and it hurts, it hurts a lot. He tries his best to smile, but it's useless. Just imagining his friend with a girlfriend, holding her hand, looking at her lovingly, is enough to put him on the edge. He never considered himself selfish, but as shameful as it is to admit, he wants to have Doppo all to himself.
"Stupid, stupid," he tosses water on his face, trying to shoo away those thoughts.
Doppo deserves to enjoy his life.
Ever since they were little, Doppo has been alway looking after him. Even when he isn't feeling well or is tired, he is always there for him.
He already does so much for him, so isn't it way too egoistical to ask more?
Doppo deserves to be with someone that isn't a burden to him. Someone that makes his life happier, not someone who only brings him troubles…
Even if he tries his best to convince himself of that… It still hurts. He wants to be that special someone for Doppo.
His bag feels heavy… Maybe if he had been braver and faster?
It doesn't matter now.
As long as Doppo is happy, Hifumi will do his best to bear with it.
Doppo did his best to turn her down politely, but she still looked extremely sad by the fact that he didn't accept her chocolates.
"Could you at least accept these? I've made them myself!"
"I think that it would be better if you shared them with your friends. Sorry…"
He didn't want to lift her hopes at all. And just accepting her chocolates when their feelings aren't mutual sounds too cruel.
"A-Ah! You don't have to worry about that. I already gave them chocolates!"
"Sorry, but I already have feelings for someone else."
Those words left his lips naturally. It felt weird but liberating saying that out loud. He's been aware for a while that his feelings for his friend are more than just platonic, but saying that out loud made it feel more real. Somebody else is now aware that he's in love, even if she doesn't know who he is in love with.
Words really make things more real.
Maybe confessing his feelings isn't as nerve-wracking as he thought?
He dismisses that thought as soon as it came. What Hifumi needs is a friend, so he should just keep being that.
Hifumi is already going through a lot, and he doesn't need to be burdened with Doppo’s feelings too.
"Sorry for making you wait."
"Doppo…" When Hifumi looks up, Doppo notices that his eyes are a little more puffy than before. Before he can ask him if something happened, Hifumi speaks again. "You can accept her feelings if you want."
"Huh?"
"You can have a girlfriend if you want. Don't worry about me."
"I'm not interested in that kind of stuff. Besides, I didn't even know her name before she confessed to me," Doppo replies quickly, confusion showing in his face. What is Hifumi talking about? "And don't say that. Of course I worry about you. You're my best friend."
Doppo tries to close their distance, but Hifumi moves away.
"Isn't it tiring to be with me?" His voice breaks. Hifumi tries his best to pull himself together, but it's useless. He's tired of being this pathetic in front of Doppo, but he can't stop his tears from falling down now. Still, he does his best to keep talking. "I'm always having breakdowns, you always have to comply with my eccentricities, you always have to protect me or comfort me… I-I'm just a burden to you!"
That's wrong!
While being with Hifumi is a lot of work, Doppo would never consider him a burden. He doesn't mind doing a bunch of bothersome stuff if that means that Hifumi will feel better or smile. Doppo is willing to act as his shield as many times as it takes, if it makes him feel safer. Hifumi is the most important person in his life, so he'll never be a burden to him.
"That's noー"
"You deserve better, Doppochin…" Tears stream down his face as his shoulders slightly shake. "You don't have to be unhappy for my sake."
Hifumi always wears his heart on his sleeve, sometimes he may come off as a self-serving guy, but in reality he's the most selfless person that Doppo has ever known.
He had spent the whole day struggling with his phobia, yet here he is, thinking about Doppo first.
Doppo used to think that Hifumi was like the sun, always shining, always full of energy and always radiant. Sometimes it was overwhelming, especially by how he made his way into his life, but he makes his world more colorful and enjoyable. Before he knew it, he was swept up by his presence and now he can't imagine his life without him.
However, sometimes Hifumi's shine becomes dimmer. Sometimes Hifumi just breaks down and he can't shine at all, and that's fine too. Hifumi can't and shouldn't force himself to be fine all the time.
Hifumi is more like the moon; it never shines the same and his light isn't enough to make darkness totally disappear, but his lovely glow makes it more bearable. A cheerful yet kind presence that accompanies him and makes him smile in this cold world. Even if he doesn't shine, just knowing that Hifumi is there is enough for him.
He makes everything around him beautiful and enjoyable. He makes him rethink his way of life and always listens to him patiently.
He makes him better. He makes him rise.
Hifumi is way too precious to him, how could Doppo just leave him behind?
Doppo often feels scared and insecure about many things about life, especially about life itself, but now, seeing Hifumi crying like this makes determination rise inside of him.
He hugs him. Doppo isn't usually the one that initiates physical contact, and when he does, it's light and never lasts too long. But now, he is hugging him so tightly and he doesn't want to let him go anytime soon.
It doesn't matter if Hifumi can feel how hard his heart is beating, he wants to hold him close. He needs to make sure that Hifumi knows how important he is to him.
"Idiot," Doppo buries his head in his shoulder. "I'll never push you away, so don't say stuff like that. I'm already happy with you, being around you makes me happy." Hifumi cries a little bit harder at his words, so Doppo starts to stroke his hair. "You're already the best for me."
Doppo wants Hifumi to be happy, to laugh a lot. He wants his eyes to gleam from excitement, not because of tears; Hifumi should only cry because of happiness and laughter.
He can't fight his battles for him, but he will do everything in his power to make his life easier. He will hold his hand and let him cling to his back if things get overwhelming, lend him his shoulder when he needs to cry and wait with him for the bad moments to pass.
He will stay by Hifumi's side for as long as he lets him.
Hopefully, for forever.
In the end, Doppo ends up just taking Hifumi home. He has to admit that he's a little sad by the fact that he couldn't do something to lift his spirits, but sometimes it's better to just lie on a bed after a long day.
Maybe tomorrow they can go to a coffee shop or something. They have a lot of days ahead of them, so he shouldn't get too depressed.
On their way to Hifumi's house, a raindrop falls on the road and soon more follow. The weather forecast didn't announce that it was going to rain… Good thing he didn't take out his umbrella from his bag.
"You didn't bring one?" Doppo asks as he sees Hifumi's troubled face.
"These days have been all pretty and sunny," Hifumi points out, his voice is a little hoarse from all the crying, but he sounds more cheerful now. "This rain really came out of nowhere."
"Well, yeah. But it's still winter." Sometimes good things happen for being a worrywart. "C'mere."
Doppo pulls him closer so they can both fit under his umbrella and Hifumi feels like his heart is going to burst. Still, it's kinda funny that Doppo is the one holding the umbrella, considering that Hifumi is now taller than him.
Even though it's raining and the sky no longer has its lovely orange color, with Doppo so close to him, Hifumi feels happy. Although, sometimes their shoulders bump a little and Hifumi feels his soul leaving his body.
His heart may not be ready for this, but he's still happy.
Still… There's something that he wants to do in order to end this day happily…
His house is only meters away now. This is his last chance to do this.
Hifumi takes a deep breath and does his best to steel his nerves.
"We're heー"
He wants to be brave. He needs to be brave.
"Wait, Doppo!" Hifumi interrupts him, grabbing his sleeve. Doppo looks at him confused as Hifumi starts to search for something in his bag.
His hands are all shaky, so it takes him a while to find what he's looking for. Doppo just waits patiently without saying anything. After a moment, Hifumi hands him a little box with a teal ribbon on it.
"I've been trying to give you this for the whole day, but there never was a right time…" The part of the day that he didn't spend crying, he spent it being chased and cornered by girls, with Doppo on his side acting as his human shield…
His voice may be all hoarse and his eyes are puffy, but at least he feels safer and braver than before.
Doppo just looks at the box, dumbfounded.
"I-It's my first time making chocolate, so maybe it won't be that good…" Hifumi says quickly, looking to the side and moving a little away from him. "I made sure to not make them overly sweet though! So I'm sure that they should be to your liking at least."
Doppo is kinda glad that Hifumi is looking away, because he must be red as a tomato at this point.
His brain still can't process the fact that Hifumi made chocolates. For him.
Hifumi made chocolates for him.
He's gonna die.
Does this mean that Hifumi feels the same way about him? That he also makes Hifumi feel all giddy and happy inside? Does he make Hifumi's world brighter too?
His feelings are overflowing. All the things that he has left unsaid are threatening to leave his lips. The dam is going to break, but he doesn't care. He doesn't want to hold back anymore.
But what about him?
Maybe this doesn't mean what he thinks it means. Hifumi likes cooking after all and he has mentioned before that it's relaxing and helps him to clear his mind. Maybe this is just a friendly gesture and he's just imagining things.
"Why?"
Hifumi looks back at him, obviously flustered, and Doppo really wants to punch himself for asking, but he needs to know his intentions behind it.
As much as he wants to close the distance between them, he needs to know that Hifumi feels the same too.
"I'm really glad to have met you, Doppochin. Despite everything, I'm able to feel happy everyday because you're here. You are really negative from time to time, but still, you're always so kind and gentle," Hifumi says, as he fiddles with his fingers and looks downwards. "Doppo Iー"
Should he really say it, when he can't even look Doppo at his face?
"I really appreciate having you by my side, so I wanted to do something for you."
In the end, this doesn't feel like the right moment either. Strangely, he doesn't feel angry with himself for backing down.
Letting Doppo know how important he is, is enough for now.
"But that isn't necessaー"
"I know! But I want to do things for you too! " Hifumi interrupts him, finally looking at his face again. "You're really important to me too. I'm really happy that you are my friend, Doppochin."
Doppo looks taken aback by his words, almost as if he didn't know how much he means to him, Silly Doppo . Thanks to him he's able to have enough strength to keep trying. Thanks to him he's able to dream.
"S-Sorry! I don't have anything for you… "
"It's fine! It's fine!" Hifumi replies quickly, looking a little flustered. "I didn't make them expecting something in return."
His reply and his smile don't sit well with Doppo. Hifumi should expect something in return, and Doppo is more than willing to give him something in return.
"Still, please wait a few more days!" Doppo says, looking directly into his eyes. He wanted to grab his hands to convey his feelings better, but his hands are full right now. "I'll give you something too!"
Hifumi looks dumbfounded for a while and Doppo fears that he might have offended him somehow. Before he can ask if he crossed a line or something, Hifumi looks at him fondly and smiles tenderly.
"Okay. I can't wait for it!"
Once he's in his room, Hifumi finally feels like himself again. He came apart a lot of times today, but now that he's just lying on his bed, he can finally compose himself.
Today has really been a train wreck. He hadn't cried that much in a while, he feels completely drained, but at least he doesn't have a headache.
Still, he's happy that despite everything, he managed to give Doppo his gift. Even when everything became extremely awkward.
Sweets are meant to bring happiness and comfort to those who eat them. Doppo may not have a sweet tooth, but still, Hifumi would like to bring more sweetness into his life!
He already did his very best last night, so now he just has to wait. Even if he can't see it, he really hopes that his hard work will pay off and that his chocolates will make Doppo smile.
Once he opens it he finds little chocolates hearts, decorated with tiny pink flowers on top of them inside of it. Hifumi said that this was his first time making chocolate, but they look extremely neat and evenly shaped. They even look better than the fancy chocolate that his mother buys for his father on this day…
And even if they weren't, these chocolates are more precious than any other in the world, because Hifumi made them.
Did Hifumi stay up late, perfecting his skills, so he could give him such a beautiful present?
Just thinking about that makes his heart pound harder. His face feels really hot, but he can't turn his gaze away from the box.
Why heart shaped chocolates?
"They're too pretty to be eaten…"
But not eating them would be rude to Hifumi's feelings and efforts. As much as he wants to treasure them for forever, Hifumi did say that he did his best to make them his liking… Just by thinking about it makes Doppo's heart pound harder.
He promised himself that he wouldn't overthink what happened, but Hifumi looked so cute all flustered giving him this box. How is he supposed to get that out of his head?
Doppo pops a chocolate heart in his mouth, trying to distract himself from thinking about what happened. It melts slowly but pleasantly in his mouth. Doppo isn't a fan of chocolate, but this tastes way too good. It has the perfect balance of bitterness and sweetness, bringing him comfort and peace. He can't help but smile as it softly melts on his tongue.
"Brother, did yoー Woah! Are those chocolates?" His brother storms into their room loudly, much to Doppo's dismay. As soon as he sees the chocolates, he's completely mesmerized. "They're so pretty! Did Hifumi-kun make them?!"
Doppo almost chokes on his chocolate.
The fact that his brother found him eating Hifumi's homemade chocolate makes him feel all embarrassed for some reason. This whole day no longer feels like a dream…
"Can I have some?!" his brother asks quickly, not even minding his coughing.
"Absolutely not," Doppo replies quickly, closing the box and bringing it close to his chest. "These are only for me."
"Eh?! That's not fair!" his brother whines loudly. It doesn't seem like he'll let this go so easily… "Hifumi-kun's cooking is the best. I want to try them too!"
"Didn't your friends already give you chocolates?"
"Yeah! But mom says that we have to share!" his brother points out quickly, grinning smugly. That smart-ass… He always says the same and Doppo always gets the short end of the stick. "Besides, you don't even like chocolate!"
"You didn't share your friends' chocolate with me," Doppo rebuts without missing a beat, he can play this game too. He's aware of how childish and immature he sounds, and he's really embarrassed about that. But he doesn't want to share these chocolates with nobody else… Well, with nobody else except Hifumi.
He's the one who made them, so it's only fair that he shares it with him. A part of him wanted to spend the rest of the day at Hifumi's house, even if that sends him into a cardiac arrest. He bets that Hifumi's chocolate would taste even more amazing from his liー
Enough! Enough!
He isn't going to follow that train of thought, especially when his brother is still here…
Doppo really hopes that his brother won't rat him out to his parents. He doesn't regret acting like this, but he doesn't want to get in trouble either.
"Next Valentine's Day I'll save some for you…" His brother finally says with a huff. At least it doesn't seem that he'll tell their parents about this.
Not that Doppo cares about it. His heart is fluttering relentlessly at the thought of Hifumi making chocolates for him in the future.
"I'm home," Doppo says as he turns the lights on and takes off his shoes.
There is no response, which was expected, but still makes him a little sad. Unfortunately, he couldn't come back home before Hifumi's shift started.
The only good thing about this is that he can wrap Hifumi's present with no worries. His boyfriend always tells him that he's supposed to give him something back on White Day, but Doppo feels bad if Hifumi is the only one giving him stuff.
Hifumi… He has come so far. His fear hasn't gone away, but he has found a way to deal with it. With hard work and courage, the scared crybaby became Shinjuku's number one host.
Now, most of Hifumi's days are filled with happiness.
Speaking of Hifumi, there's a big heart shaped box waiting for him on the table along with his dinner… As always, Doppo reads the note first.
To: My beloved Doppochin ( ˘ ³˘) ~♡
Good work today too!
Making these was so much fun! I hope that you can enjoy them as much as I did making them.
I wanted to give them to you in person, but it's ok! Tomorrow is Saturday after all~
Remember to eat properly before eating them though! And don't go to sleep too late~
Your lovely Hifumin~ ♡
Blush spreads across his face as soon as he's done reading.
"How do you expect me to sleep when you're not here, dummy?"
As his dinner reheats in the microwave, Doppo opens the box. It's not like he's gonna eat them before dinner, but he's kinda curious about how the chocolate that his boyfriend made looks like.
Inside, in the center, there is a little chocolate rose alongside a chocolate… tigridia? How did he make that?
"He keeps making them too pretty to eat."
Well, that's just like him, always doing everything wholeheartedly. He did write that he had fun making them… Doppo would have liked to see that.
"Echeverias, Bear's paws, Tiger Jaws…" Doppo mutters to himself as he recognizes the rest of the chocolate plants that are inside the box. "… He made all my plants."
Ah. He really wants to kiss him now.
Doppo has to hide his face behind his hands for a moment. He is gonna die. Hifumi wants to kill him from a heart attack.
Why did he leave him such a lovely present when he isn't here?
He better not receive calls from his office tomorrow, because he wants to spend the whole day with his boyfriend.
"Come back soon," Doppo says as he takes his plate off the microwave. "I miss you."
