metro confession

Summary:

She has played the possible scenarios that can happen in her head like a hundred times, thinking about possibly every option that could happen, and they aren’t that bad, but still, she is worried.

What if he doesn’t like the news? What if he is not happy? What if he thinks that her method of telling him wasn’t the right one?

What if he doesn’t like the idea and leaves her?

What if he asks for the divorce?

At that simply thought, Hitoka’s heart skips a beat, and her eyes almost water.

No, her Kuroo wouldn’t be like that. Her Kuroo wouldn’t leave her just like that.

Work Text:

Hitoka looks at the drinks she brought and is holding nervously. She is waiting, in front of the JVA building, since Tetsurou gets out of work later than her today. And like they agreed what feels like a long time ago, she is waiting for him. The drinks are a plus today, and the reason has to do with her nervousness, but also because she must tell him something.

Something very important and that will possibly change everything.

She sighs again, moving her fingers nervously while she holds the package where the drinks are. She brought his favorite from their favorite café and the waiting is killing her a little. Hitoka doesn’t know how he’ll react to her news and she definitely doesn’t know how exactly she is going to tell him, so that’s why she buys him his favorite drink. Is like pat a cat in the head and talk sweetly to him before getting him into a bath.

It was a cruel strategy, but she knew how Tetsurou worked after being married for over two years now.

She looks to her feet, thanking the Gods that she didn’t put on heels today. Well, she usually doesn’t use heels since she must walk around Tokyo all the time, but today she is thankful for it because the feet pain she is starting to feel, is not going to be double in the future.

Hitoka then looks at her watch and sees that Tetsurou should be getting out of the building she is waiting in front of, soon. That makes her more nervous and anxious than she already is.

But before she could torment herself with more bad thoughts, she hears her name. She snaps her head up to find that the man she was thinking about, is now approaching with his typical bright smirk.

She smiles by reflex and before she can greet him back, his arms all around her and her small self (who is smaller now because she isn’t wearing heels, even if she is a little taller than she was in high school) and she can’t stop herself from hugging him back, at least, with just one arm since the other was holding where the drinks are.

His hug is warm and big, also a little bit smelly, but that was normal for him. That makes her calm a little bit because Tetsurou’s hugs hold that power and she thinks that they forever will.

The hug is not long, because they are in public and the middle of a sidewalk, so as fast as he hugged her, he lets go of her, even though, he kisses her on the forehead like he always does before letting go completely.

When Hitoka’s eyes meet his, he is still grinning, like he hasn’t seen her in years when the truth was that they haven’t seen each other since the morning after he left her at her building.

“How are you kitten? Did you wait long?”, he asks and Hitoka’s heart skips a beat, like it usually happens every time he calls her kitten.

Tetsurou has been using that pet name since they met in that training camp in high school. Kitten and little crow are his darling or honey. It was weird at the beginning, she must accept that, but now she is used to it, even if her heart says otherwise.

“I’m okay. I didn’t wait long. But I brought you this”, she says, when they start walking home by the sidewalk. She stretches the drinks in his direction, and he looks surprised for a second before he takes it.

“Didn’t know it was White Day already”, he comments, looking inside the bag while she simply rolled her eyes. “Oh, is my favorite drink. Thanks, little crow”, and then he gives her a kiss in the temple even if they are walking and they have people all around them.

“You are welcome”, she mumbles, trying not to blush. She still can’t believe she blushes when she has been married to him for over two years already and they have been together for five in total.

He gives her her drink first and then he takes him and then he throws the bag in the trash. They walk while they drink, and they talk about their days. The usual questions they do and answer to each other every day when they are on their way home together.

Is not until they stop at the metro station, and after their drinks are long gone, that she remembers why she brought them in the first place. That makes her nervous again.

“Am”, she leans closer to him and he leans down a little to her hear. Even if they are adults now, she is still way smaller than him, so the sight of them right now is quite cute. Not to mention that they are holding hands. “I-I have to s-show you something”, she says, and it comes out way more quietly and insecure than she intended.

And the face Tetsurou gives her reflexes that.

“Okay? What is it?”, Hitoka swallows before she lets go of his hand. She looks for something in her bag and Tetsurou stops his cat-like staring at her when the metro stops ahead of them.

They walk inside and because everyone is on the streets at this hour, they don’t find seats, so, they stay close to each other, holding from a metal tube.

Tetsurou was going to say something, probably that her bag became Narnia because she wasn’t finding what she was looking for but when he looks down at her and sees what she is showing him, he freezes like a cat who just got his head wet.

The view will be comical if is not for the fact that Hitoka is totally worried about his sudden silence. Maybe it was a bad idea to show him the sonogram of their first baby ever in the metro.

“I- “, she starts, but then, Tetsurou interrupts her when he hugs her as his life depends on it. That caught her by surprise, but not enough to let go of the first photograph of their child.

“I knew it already”, he whispers in her ear and she steps back a little to look at him with wide surprised eyes.

“How?”

“You left a positive test on the trash a few weeks ago. I didn’t want to jump to conclusions, so I was waiting for you to confirm it”, he explains, in a low voice, like is a secret while he looks at her with a wide grin.

The only thing Hitoka can do is blink a few times until she hides her face behind one of her hands. Tetsurou chuckles at that.

“I’m happy to know that we are going to be parents”, he confesses. “Is the best news in the world”, she knows he is being sincere, she knows it better than anyone.

And Hitoka surprises herself crying. Tetsurou chuckles and hugs her again and kisses her on the head.

“I’m happy too”, she confesses a few seconds later.

“I hope they like volleyball”, and she laughs because there is no way on Earth that a daughter or son of Kuroo Tetsurou will not like volleyball.

The rest of their way home they are holding hands and talking about the future, planning it of course since they know that is official that the family is getting bigger.

Hitoka can’t be more relieved that Tetsurou is just as happy with the news as she was when she got them.
