Chapter Text

Standing in front of your broken window that out looked your yard and into the wilderness beyond. The third time this month, that thing or someone broke into your home and took your valuables. Closing up what you could of the window, you watched on into the vast outdoors helplessly. It didn't take long for you to find your dresser wide open, almost gutted like a fish. Tears were stinging your eyes at the hopeless predicament. Whoever this was, not only stole yours belongs but one that was very important to you. A ring that you wore on a special occasion was a parting gift from your mother before moving state to live your own life.

You yanked your coat and stormed out the door. Trudging on passed the police station, their fruitless efforts from the first two time were unacceptable. There was one man in town you could count on to help you out; his name was Mountain Tim. Now, you and Tim had met briefly countless times, overall respecting each other's roles in town. But word had buzzed about his wits and courteous attitude; it was something you wanted to count on. It wouldn't take long to find him a few minutes from your home. Petting his horse as it ate, the beast always had respect for Tim as well. Always calm and listened to his commands, impressive to a lot of people.

You watched on fir a minute before asking, "Mountain Tim, was it? I have a favour to ask". He perked up and turned to face you, tipping his hat as he approached nonchalantly.

"Ah, Y/N didn't think I'd see you. What seems to be the problem?"

"I'm having a thief... problem. Or pest, I don't know! Whatever it is, it's breaking into my home and stealing my belongs" you sound distressed as you continued to explain.
"They've stolen some important, irreplaceable items. I need your help, Tim" you rub your neck, expecting to be declined. Tim clicked his tongue, looking off in the distance. It seemed he could tell this has happened before with his slight nod of understanding.
"I'll try to have the vermin caught by the evening, but I'd like to see your home for some clues." You grasp his hand eagerly, which he looked back wide-eyed. "Thank you so much, Sir! I'll try to pay it back whatever way I can!" you sputtered frantically, grinning that you could count on someone in these desperate times. He chuckled and rolled his eyes before having you let go to retrieve it trusted stead, Ghost Rider In The Sky.

《 Time skip to returning to your home》

You had made some coffee for the two of you to discuss how you two would approach the situation. Mountain Tim was intently looking at the scratches on the window that was open this morning. He seemed puzzled as he scratched his head, even hoping out the window to check the outside for more. Naturally, you followed him to the window with both cups in hand. You were finding yourself staring at Mountain Tim, bright blue eyes, fluffy hair and a muscular, broad chest. Your heart fluttered a little at how the light hit him perfectly. Of course, he catches you staring but plays it off by asking for his cup, thanking you before drinking it.

"Right... It seems like some smart raccoon or coyote got it. But why the jewels? That's more a crows thing... how strange," he hypothesized. The scratches were far too tiny for a person to make; they did resemble claws also. Tim wandered more into your yard, only getting slower as he looked out into the wilderness. Tensed shoulders, you decided to follow him out as something felt wrong. You two were soon finding animal prints on the ground that quickly morph into a different animal than a person's shoe prints.

"Do you think it is a..."

"A skinwalker? A stretch. I have other theories."

You cocked your head slightly as he turns to you, sipping his coffee. You could see his determination in his eyes; an idea had hatched. "I believe it's a paranormal ability that someone gained; I've witnessed them before... I'm going to go look for them", he spoke rather cold.
"Take me with you. It is my belongings on the line", you demand. Tim only smirks, liking your matching determined attitude. He hands back the now empty cup then heads to get his horse.
You two settled the plan that you would hunt for this mysterious person or creature.
