Work Text:

Getting through his first -and only- glass of whiskey highball was a nightmare, and an absolute mistake. He thought, getting one would be a good show off to Mob, who was coming to the bar for the first time. His usual order consisted of a mild drink that wouldn't even make an ant flinch. And well, his alcohol tolerance was definetly below one.

It was Dimple's idea to go to the bar. Shigeo turned 21, and it was very clear he was becoming an adult. Taller, smarter and more confident. The one who was a little boy grew to become a man. His personality didn't change that much, and that's what made Reigen so comfortable.

Those little details that did change however, made him stay in his seat, blankly staring at his drink. Mob looked at him, hinting a smile.

"Shishou?"

"Yeah?"

"What should I drink?" oh, right. He hasn't done anything besides sitting down and looking at the bottles

"Ehrm... Try the lemon sour. It's my usual!" the older one smiled, although he felt his face literally falling off

"Shishou, why are you drinking that then?"

"...It's good to change the routine, Mob."

He turned to the barista, and after some failed attempts of speaking too low for the music volume, he ordered the lemon sour.

Reigen took his phone out the moment Mob held his glass, ready to capture the moment. The young man's face twisted, making the older one start laughing like crazy. The picture ended up being a very blurry proof of his first bar drink.

After the first sips, Shigeo got used to the taste. It was sweet, though he was advised to slow down or the aftermath would be nasty.

"Honestly, Mob. Stop calling me Shishou" the black haired boy turned around, a bit startled

"Why?" the other man chuckled

"You've grown, you're not a middle schooler anymore. Aren't you finishing college in a bit?" Reigen drank his highball in what seemed to be a way of sealing his words "And it makes me feel old now, goddam"

"Okay... What do you want me to call you then?"

"Reigen it's fine. No honorifics, go nuts"

An hour or two passed, Mob didn't order anything else. He was pretty light headed now, but in comparison with his former master, a flushed face was not a defeat. It was time to leave, so he paid for the drinks and helped his companion get up.

They got to Reigen's apartment, and although he was no stranger to that place, it felt like intruding. He was not invited by him, he just had to leave him there and not in some dark alley, being past eleven at that point.

Putting on his shoes to leave, he could explain the situation to the older one the next day. He was only visiting Seasoning City for spring break. Turning the door knob, noise coming from the bedroom alerted him. I was sure he wouldn't get up...

"Mob!" he called

"Yes?" Reigen grabbed his head, barely sitting on his futon

"You... you were this small. Why are you taller than me now?" he's surely drunk

"Let's talk tomorrow. We got plenty of time"

"Look at you arranging the time now. Alright" Shigeo looked at him, until Reigen looked back "...happy birthday, Mob" and with a shy smile, the birthday celebration ended.

Sure, they'd have plenty of time. Plenty of time to talk about the stupid drinks, the awful alcohol tolerance of Reigen, and Mob's possible comeback to the city. About feeling old, and older.

Notes:

Some wholesome writing because I miss them a lot and I'd love to see how their dynamic develops into a friendship as Mob grows ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ

Take care, reading you later!
