Chapter Text
“Hana! Are you up yet? You only have a few months left of school, please try not to miss any days!”
My life can be pretty much summed up in a singular word..
Chaotic
Literally, everything in my life had to be an ordeal
Waking up: Ordeal
Getting dressed: Ordeal
Going to school: Ordeal
I was seriously starting to question whether or not the gods above had it out for me. That was the only way to explain it.
Especially now, here I was having inflicted the worst pain of all upon myself and accidentally stayed up all night reading romance manga and only ending up with a few hours of sleep
“Hana you better have brushed your beady beads in the front of your head or I swear I’m shaving it.”
I sighed and rolled out of bed, happy that I showered the night before so I didn’t have to wake up early to do anything.
“I’M SERIOUS ABOUT SHAVING IT HANA”
Except brush my hair.
“I will mama!” I yell down the hall as I rip off my bonnet and put my uniform on.
I grabbed my shirt and quickly decided to go with the top with no wing holes since I didn’t feel like getting my wings pulled by children walking by me today.
Sitting down at my vanity, I stare at my reflection in the mirror and sighing, knowing I wasn’t anywhere near getting a boyfriend in my lifetime.
If my shoulder-length purple locs and my bright red devil horns didn’t make me look strange enough then my bright pink cat eyes and pointed elf ears definitely did.
Then to top it off I was 5’11 (152.4cm) tall and had large butterfly wings that took up way too much space.
As the kids in elementary put it, I looked like a strange mix between a giant demon and a fairy.
Completely different from the other tiny cute girls that went to my school.
Girls like Mina Ashido. Like of course she was pink and had strange eyes but everyone LOVED her. She could so easily make friends and that was so strange to me.
It made me wonder what I was doing wrong…
Deciding not to dwell on it any longer, I brushed my hair and ran out the door to school-
Or a least I tried before a brown arm stopped me at the door.
“Hana you have another letter from your father.” My mother said with a hint of sadness in her eyes. I could already hear what she was about to say and I wanted none of it. “You can’t keep avoiding him forever, you know it wasn’t your fau-”
Not waiting to hear the end of it I took the letter from her hands and ran out the door with a quick “I love you”
It doesn’t matter if it wasn’t my fault, I still caused it.
Arriving at the gates of Mustafa Private Middle School I put a large fake smile on my face before walking in.
Only to be quickly stopped by my second arm for the day
What’s with people and putting their arms in my way today .
“Ai! How are you todayyyyy~” Mina asked with a sparkle in her eyes that said she wasn’t just saying hi.
“Yes, Mina, what do you need?”
Mina feigned hurt.
“Girl, can’t a friend just say hi to her favorite tall person,” She said with a nervous grin.
Ah so that’s what she wants
“What do you need me to reach Ashido? I was hoping to get to class early so I could bribe Ms. Suzuki into letting me sleep during English.” I said and then yawned to get my point across.
Mina yawned in response and frowned because she knew I did it on purpose.
“Hikari got her backpack thrown in a tree by a rude boy and none of us can reach.” I sighed. I knew exactly which group of boys had done it. The same group that harassed me every day. I’d get the backpack out of the tree just to spite them at this point.
Walking over to the tree I realized quickly that I had a dilemma. The backpack was just barely out of my reach.
I jumped a few times and my fingers just barely grazed it. About to give up, suddenly someone punched the tree and the backpack came sailing into my arms.
Black hair and a sharp-toothed smile greeted us from behind the tree.
“Kirishima!” Mina yelled happily “You’re a lifesaver”
Kirishima gave Mina a lopsided smile and banged his fists together.
“Just trying to do the manly thing!” He said before towards his class.
My two brain cells zapped together in a moment of brilliance and I handed Hikari her backpack back and digging around in mine for something and running to catch up to Kirishima
“Kirishima wait!” I yelled. He stopped so suddenly I almost ran straight into his back.
Catching my breath I held out a notebook to him.
“You like Crimson Riot right?”
I remembered him yelling about it during lunch a few times with his friends.
His face lit up like a child on Christmas.
“Hell yeah I do! Why do you ask?”
Jutting out the notebook to him again I said “He saved me from drowning a couple of years back and I got his autograph on this. I never used it, save for a few pages but you could easily rip those out.” Remembering all of those pages were badly drawn photos of Crimson I quickly added “Actually make sure you burn them too”
Kirishima looked at the notebook and then back at me like I was an angel sent from heaven before pulling me into a strong hug.
“THIS IS SO MANLY. THANK YOU SO MUCH.”
I giggled and patted his back awkwardly
“You’re welcome but Kiri I can’t breathe”
He let go with a deep red blush on his face.
“Got that hero strength, practically already ready for the UA entrance exams”
He looked confused,
“Are you also applying to UA”
I did a dramatic All Might pose and smile.
“Was it that obvious? Hero Course all the way baby!”
With an All Might laugh I opened my mouth to say something else before the warning bell cut me off.
“See you later Kiri! Also, you look pretty good in red, have you ever thought about dying your hair?”
I didn’t wait for him to respond to my tease before rushing towards my class and catching up with Mina who was giving me an all too obvious look.
“Don’t you even start girl, I was just giving him a thank you”
“Do all thank yous end in romantic hugs with hot guys?”
“Minaaaaaa, I swear to god”
She giggled and pulled me along.
“I’m just saying, my cute fairy bestie could have a sexy shark boyfriend soon.”
“MINAAAAAAAAAAA”
Little known to us a sexy shark was staring at a precious gift and thinking of an equally just as precious girl.
The rest of the school day was uneventful.
Boring classes and preparing for final exams.
My grades were already good enough for UA and as long as I didn’t fail literally every test and assignment I got from here until exams I’d be fine so I didn’t pay too much attention.
By the end of the day, I was just ready to plop into my bed, that was until I got a notification about an All Might sighting nearby and I was suddenly wide awake. I quickly head to a building near the sighting and got permission to look out from their roof.
However, by the time I got on the roof, I realized my mistake as there was a fire in the completely other direction and I instantly knew I wasn’t getting to see the number 1 hero today.
Discouraged I sat on the railing and yawned.
I could just barely see the head of Mt. Lady and surprisingly I was satisfied with that.
When I become a hero it’s practically a given that I’d see other heroes every day. I should try and be more like Mina, looking more on the bright side of things.
Forcing myself to look more cheerful a large gust of wind hit me and I teetered along the railing, almost falling. Steading myself I gave myself a sigh of relief but was suddenly hit by a slime ball and sent over the edge.
My mind went in slow motion, I knew I'd die from the height I was at. I didn’t want to die.
I couldn’t die.
I made a promise that if I didn’t die that I’d contact my father
That I’d try my hardest to be more cheerful.
That I’d become the most selfless hero to walk the earth.
Letting out a blood-curdling screen I squeezed my eyes shut tight waiting for the impact.
Instead, I felt a strange weightless feeling and the hands of a man catching me.
“Aren’t heroes so reckless?” A deep voice said.
Then I opened my eyes to see brilliant light blue hair and determined red eyes
