Chapter Text
Kamome intermediate and high school is having a Spring Ball and everyone's invited! April 9, 6-10 pm!
Walking through his school halls Minamoto Kou read a flyer with those words. The Spring Ball. For such a prestigious family as the Minamotos, Kou had never been to anything like a ball. I should ask Yashiro to the ball. That was the first thought to come to mind and now he was set on going. The perfect plan to ask Yashiro out, a ball. Of course, that means dancing and unfortunately, he lacked such a skill. Guess that just means he's gotta learn.
Maybe Amane knows how to ballroom dance.
=======
"Hey, Amane would you by chance...know how to dance?" Kou asked, hoping for a positive answer.
"Huh? No, why are you asking?" Amane responded seeming to be occupied by his own thoughts.
"Oh, no reason just thought I'd ask..." Slightly disappointed but not surprised. Kou left Hanako to whatever he was doing and went on with his day thinking of other people who could help him.
Yooko and Satou...definitely not...Yako...even if she did she probably wouldn't help...maybe Mitsuba knows...ya Mitsuba.
And with that, it was decided to ask Mitsuba...would Mitsuba even help him or would he just call him a perv and ignore him. Wouldn't hurt to try right?
=======
The next day after school when Yokoo and Satou had already gone home, Kou got his chance to ask Mitsuba for help.
"Hey, Mitsuba can I ask you for a favor?" Kou asked while they were walking home together as usual.
With an obnoxious and tired sigh, Mitsuba responded "I don't know depends on what it is."
"Well, you see with the Spring Ball com-"
"Are you trying to ask me out to it? If so my answers no, your not even my type." Mitsuba cut off Kou before the boy was able to finish his sentence.
"No. I'm asking if you can help me learn how to ballroom dance so I can ask Yashiro out," He said trying not to get cut off this time.
"...Why are you asking me? Do I look like a dance teacher to you? Or is this your way of trying to get alone time with a cute boy like me so you can-"
"NO. You know I would never, quit saying things like that," This time Mitsuba was the one getting cut off. "Look if you don't want to help it's fine I can ask someone else I was just wondering anyway,"
"When did I say I wasn't going to help? I took a few dance classes back in primary...my mom forced me the old hag but I guess they'll come to use now." Mitsuba reluctantly said.
"R-really?" Kou had that sun-bright grin on his face and look as if he were going to jump on to Mitsuba and give him a hug any moment. Which was exactly what he did and then was quickly pushed away.
========
Mr. Tsuchigomori had unwillingly let the two boys borrow his classroom after class for Kou's dance lessons.
"As long as you don't stay here too late," The teacher huffed as he gave a spare key to the boys.
"Thank you, sir! We promise to be responsible!" Kou bowed as he took the key and ran into the room Mitsuba following.
"So to start what do you know about slow dancing?" Mitsuba asked as he and Kou pushed chairs against the wall to make space for the two of them.
"Well umm not much. Oh! I know you have to hold each other and do those fancy footsteps right!" The blond said enthusiastically.
"Ok, so you know nothing got it," Mitsuba rolled his eyes as he finished pushing the last desk aside. Mitsuba grabbed Kou's hand and started positioning his arms one holding the air's waist and the other as if he were holding a hand.
"Why can't I do it with you? You know so I can actually understand what I'm supposed to be doing right now." Kou asked rather confused. Mitsuba just stared at him for a good 10 seconds before responding.
"Your such a perv Kou," But even after saying that he moved Kou's right hand to his waist and the other holding his hand. Well kind of. Kou's arms were more like hovering over Mitsubas waist and hand.
"See, this is how you're going to hold Daik- I mean Yashiro at the ball... just without the hovering," The pink-haired boy instructed as he got out of Kou's loose hold. Mitsuba had now taken out a piece of paper and pen and started drawing something. Mitsuba explained that it was foot placements for slow dancing and then continued to explain it through his drawing. Kou listened intently to everything Mitsuba was saying as if Mitsuba was giving out top-secret information. Mitsuba then put down the paper to then do the steps himself instructing Kou to do the same which he did. Whilst doing so he tripped over his own foot three separate times. This went on for the next three's hours. With a very aggravated and annoyed sigh, Mitsuba helped the boy up after tripping for the probably eleventh time now. Mitsuba then collapsed onto the floor with a heavy sigh.
"Man, you suck at this," Mitsuba sighed as he took a sip from his water bottle.
"Thanks, we should head out now it's getting late," Kou said picking up his and Mitsubas things. Mitsuba heaved himself up taking his things from Kou and then locking the classroom door behind him. They walked home talking the whole way through, Mitsuba mostly just laughing at how bad Kou is at dancing.
"Same thing tomorrow?" Kou asked Mitsuba before he walking into his house.
"Sure just try not to be as bad as you were today," Mitsuba sarcastically said as he walking into his house waving his friend goodbye.
========
"Where were you all day?" Teru, Kou's older brother asked.
"Oh just hanging out with friends," Kou responded absentmindedly running up to his room after giving Tiara, his little sister a hug. His elder brother let out a slight snicker as he went back to reading and filling out papers for the student council. Kou now in his room threw his homework on his desk and plopped onto his bed. Too tired to do any work he laid there on his bed thinking about anything and everything but more specifically his dance lessons. That time was the most fun he had in a while. His school work has continued to pile up more and more and having to also cook for his family too, it was nice to take a break from it all. Kou slowly started to drowse off to sleep and before he knew it he was completely knocked out.
========
"Sousuke how was your day!" Mitsuba's mom asked she was in the kitchen cooking dinner when Mitsuba had walked in.
"Decent, Lame ass traffic safety earing wanted me to teach him how to dance though, that was a pain," Mitsuba said throwing his book bag onto the couch and going over to his mom to see what she was cooking.
"Dance lessons? What for?"
"There's a school ball coming up and he wants to ask out Yashiro to it," Mitsuba answered as he started setting up the table.
"Awww how cute young love! Sousuke who are you going to ask out?"
"hmm? No one I'm not even going,"
"WHAT? Why? Sousuke you're a teenager you should be having fun! Come on you should go what about you ask that pretty green-haired girl I always see you hang around!"
"What? No! Mom, she's a lesbian I can't ask her out. Besides, I don't even wanna go it's not a big deal."
"Oh, but it is Sousuke! Come on can you at least go for me just go with your friends you don't have to ask anyone out!" Mitsuba let out a deep sigh but agreed anyway it's the least he can do to make his mom happy anyways, why not. He can just go to hang out with Sakura and Natsuhiko. And watch Kou dance with Yashiro. Mitsuba pretends he didn't have that last thought and runs upstairs to his room slightly pink but it probably means nothing.
