Work Text:
losing a friend
is so painful
how do
people bear with this pain?
for now,
i just want to be
in your healing presence
Yuuji wakes up to something soft grazing the features of his face - fluttering and gentle, like a rabbit's fur.
He opens his eyes to meet jade ones, tenderly gaze laced with a certain fondness.
"Megumi." The name spills from his slightly-chapped lips, raspy and desperate, like a call for help; nothing like the sounds of Itadori that Fushiguro knew
Pain ruthlessly tugs on his heartstrings like a mad marionette, guilt painting the expression of the green-eyed boy as Yuuji glanced at him through droopy eyes.
Megumi forces a small smile on, hand reaching out to caress a cheek, to which Yuuji responded by leaning into his touch, sighing upon feeling the warmth.
He feels the rough fingerprints brush over the lines of his face - the ones under his eyes. It was a soothing sensation that brought him utter solace. There was nothing more ecstatic than being in Fushiguro's presence, in his hands, no less.
Soon enough, a hand cards through the tousled locks of pink hair, delicate digits trailing down the curve of his ear, and to the fuzzy feel of Yuuji's undercut, curiosity tracing over the roughness in the dark section above his nape.
Just as Yuuji lies back down the bed, he drinks in the sight of Megumi who sat up to accommodate his current position. Pale moonlight shadowed over the fair features of his face, glowing with what he would call perfection.
He could see the lashes framing the green of his eyes, and the dark tufts of hair in contrast with the white surroundings.
“Are you going to stay?” Yuuji whispers.
Megumi nods, playing with the unruly locks of his peach hair in reassuring, circling motions. “I’ll be here with you. All night.”
Happiness swells in the pink-haired blob’s chest, buzzing bees and flapping butterflies manifesting in the almost hollow space of his heart, a small smile pulling on his lips. “Let’s go to sleep then.”
He watches as Fushiguro slowly retracts from his body, taking the book on his lap and sets it on the bedside table, making as little noise as possible before returning and joining Itadori in the comfort of the sheets.
He pulls the blanket over their waists, and then turns to his side, facing Yuuji with a fluttery smile. “Think you can sleep better now?”
“Yeah. Thanks for letting me sleep in your room tonight, Megumi.” This time, his name was smooth, heavenly and pleasantly sweet at the tip of his tongue. Pink washes over his cheeks upon the realization that he just started calling the other boy by first name basis.
Fushiguro seems to have noticed this just now as well, seeing as he raised a questioning eyebrow. “It’s okay. I like it the most when you’re the one saying it, Itadori.”
“You may call me by my first name as well.” He mumbles.
The raven-haired boy does not waste any thought. “Alright then, Yuuji.”
When Itadori thought that this boy wouldn’t make his heart race for more than just simple admiration, he knew damn well he was wrong.
Megumi’s eyelashes fluttered in a languid manner, seemingly having to been hit with a wave of drowsiness. A small yawn left his luscious lips.
“Sleepy?"
Fushiguro only nods, having little energy to speak. “Good night, Yuuji.”
“Good night, Megumi.”
It was as though Fushiguro immediately drifted to a deep slumber once he closed his soft jade gaze. He could hear the soft snores and the calm breathing that leaked from those rosy lips.
It was rather ironic that Itadori was wide awake when he came here to sleep. His heart is undeniably racing from the impactful words that Megumi uttered to him throughout this exchange.
Staring at Fushiguro Megumi's resting expression with a blush, the thought comes that he wouldn’t be tired of gazing at him all night.
i love you
and your face
your smiles
your kindness
your everything
won't you be mine?
