At first you thought Din was someone to show his affection purely through his actions. And even though that’s still sort of true, you soon realized that he likes to show it through his words even more. Because Din is someone who always thinks about what he wants to say before speaking up, so his words are always truthful and full of meaning.
At the very beginning Din rarely talked though, too used to his bounty hunter life. He never really had to talk much with anyone or had someone to talk to consistently because he was always flying from one planet to the next, always collecting another quarry. He never had someone to share his journey with, so he got used to not speaking much. But then you entered his life and all that changed because suddenly he had someone to talk to. And talk to you he did.
Din takes every opportunity he has to shower you with adoration, sometimes even in Mando’a. He usually doesn’t reveal to you what all those foreign words mean right away just because he likes the puzzled look on your face, but you know their weight, you can hear their meaning in the pitch of his voice. When he speaks to you so softly, his voice a gentle whisper that could be whisked away by the smallest gust of wind, you know he just opened up his heart to you. You know he just said he loved you, the language in which he did that was unrelevant.
However, when he can’t tell you how much he loves you through words, for example when you two are on a foreign planet in the middle of a crowd, or sitting in a cantina where he doesn’t want to risk someone noticing just how close and important you are to him (he doesn’t want to put you in more danger), he always makes sure to show you in another way. Being it by gently placing his hand over yours that is resting on your knee underneath the table or placing it on your shoulder and slightly squeezing while walking through the streets, acting as if he is directing you with his hand even though in reality he just wants to be close to you in that moment. Sometimes he just sits beside you, your thighs touching because he is so close and you just know what he’s saying, what he’s conveying without words.
Even though Din is a bounty hunter forced to manhandle his unwilling quarries more often than not, he’s always soft and always very loving with you. His touches are always gentle.
He’s confident in the ways he tells you just how much he adores you. But where he isn’t so confident is when you tell him how much you love him.
You don’t see it yet but whenever you tell him you love him or whisper any other adorations to him, his eyes get wide underneath the helmet and a blush covers his cheeks, ears and neck. His heart begins to beat so fast and hard against his ribs he is surprised his ribs haven’t bruised yet. And he loves every second of his body reacting the way it does. He straight up melts when you are affectionate to him. He’ll scoop you up into his arms and place his covered forehead against yours while whispering back at you just how much he loves you.
If someone had told him that he would find you, that he would find someone that loves him so much they would agree to travel through the galaxy with him, not caring that they wouldn’t have somewhere to settle down or call a home… he wouldn’t have believed them. But here he is, with you. And he couldn’t be happier to share his affections with you completely unrestrained in the safety of the Razor Crest.
