Notes:

This is really short but I wanted to give this story a sort of closure that I feel like part 1 left open, also I wrote this months ago and forgot to post it but Larl is THE ship you know? So I couldn't not post it. Please enjoy.

Work Text:

They wake up the next morning to the sound of Loretta scratching at the bedroom door, wanting to be let out.

Jamie sighed, rubbing his eyes tiredly and got up to let the pug outside. He grabbed one of their dressing gowns on his way, not bothering to get fully dressed. The moment he opened the door to their backporch the dog was out in the speed of light and disappearing in a nearby bush.

The banker waited, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning himself against the glass.

The city was just waking up, he could hear the faint noises of construction work from a few streets down, cars honking at each other on their way to work, and someone humming a song as they showered with their windows open in the house next to them. The air was fresh and smelled of rain and dead leaves, the first sign that winter was almost upon them.

After a couple of minutes, Loretta reappeared, snorting heavily as she sprinted back into the house, trailing wet paw prints after her.

Before he could stop her, the pug hopped onto the big couch in their living room. Jamie rolled his eyes as he closed the door to their terrace. One of their housekeepers would have to wash the cushions later.

He went into the kitchen to prepare some coffee for himself and Karl, who was still sleeping upstairs.

The flowers from last night that stood on the kitchen isle where a reminder of what happened.

They had yet to discuss what to do next.

As quietly as possible, the banker placed the two mugs and pastries on a tray and carried it upstairs into the masters bedroom.

They had forgot to pull the blinds close last night and now the room was flooded in golden light.

Karl was still fast asleep, lying in the middle of their king size bed. The bedsheets pulled al the way up to his chin. Jamie smiled softly at the sight.

"Morning." He whispered, leaning in to press a kiss against Karl's fair hair. The CFO stirred in his sleep and blinked slowly, eyes ajusting against the sudden bright light.

"Huh?" Karl mumbled, visibly confused. "Oh!" He said when his eyes landed on Jamie. " 's too early." He grumbled, burying his head into the pillows.

"It's 8:30, in fact it's pretty late for our standards, we'd normally be at work now if-"

If. If it wasn't for Kendall. If it wasn't for Logan's stubbornness. If it wasn't for the fact that they had just returned from a hostage situation in a foreign country, an experience that would probably need some time to fade into the back of their minds.

They could do with a day off, or at least a morning off. And no matter how fucked Waystar was, no amount of money or Logan's wrath would get either of them out of bed right now.

Slowly, Jamie shuffled out of the slippers he had hastily put on to bring the dog outside before slipping under the warm covers again, pressing a mug of steaming coffee into his partners hands.

"Here, something to clear your thoughts."

"Thanks." They sat in silence for the most part, both staying off their phones for multiple reasons and instead opted for reading a book, in Karl's case, and lazily petting the dog, in Jamie's.

Loretta was enjoying her humans attention and snuggled herself in between the two of them.

"Jamie… About last night… I understand if you'd want me to move out…"

"What?"

"I can arrange something, I'll be out of the house by the end of the week and-"

"Fucks sake Karl what are you talking about? Is it because of the deal? I thought we were past this?"

"I mean you said we would talk in the morning so I assumed-"

"Oh Karl! For fucks sake! Stay! Just stay. We can figure everything out later. For now just stay. Please?"

And then there was silence again. A few minutes passed until Jamie could feel a hand wandering up his leg. A shiver ran down his spine at the feeling.

The hand stopped when it found his own hand and interwined them underneath the covers.

"Jamie?" Karl asked, pulling his reading glasses off and putting them on the bedside table, along with the book he had been reading.

"Yeah?" Jamie answered, staring deep into his partners blue eyes.

"I'm going to kiss you now."

The banker could feel a blush keeping up his neck, it felt like they were young men again and just figuring things out in one of Waystar's many storage room. The excitement, the rush of adrenaline. It was almost overwhelming.

"I love you." Jamie mumbled in-between kisses.

"Love you too, Jamie… no matter what.
