This last case was one of the rough ones. The whole team was exhausted and everyone looked forward to the well-deserved weekend.
“Okay guys, what are your plans for the weekend?” Luke asked.
“Henry wants to go to the new theme park that just opened a few miles out of DC. So,, Will and I are taking the boys there. Honestly, I’d rather just stay home and relax for a while, but he was so excited about it and I couldn’t say no.” JJ answered with a thin smile on her face.
“I bet it’s still going to be fun.” Emily said.
“I think I’ll just stay home with my favorite bottle of wine and spend some quality time with Sergio.” She added.
Your team continued to talk about their weekend plans. Tara was about to meet up with an old friend while Rossi planned to spend the weekend with his daughter and grandson. Matt was generally busy with his family anyway, and Spencer’s mom just moved in with him recently.
“What about you guys?” Tara asked and pointed at you and Luke.
“Oh, I don’t have any plans. I mean, I’m just really tired and I don’t think I have the energy to even leave the house.” you chuckled
“Oh, I get that sometimes. You just gotta do nothing.” Luke said.
“I don’t have any plans either. I decided to stay home this time and give Roxy my undivided attention since she is always exited to have me all to herself.” He continued.
During your flight back home, you could feel Luke’s concerned gaze on you the whole time. You guys had been best friends for over a decade now, and by now, he knew exactly when something was wrong with you. You guys met back in the academy and hit it off immediately. He trained your shooting skills while you teaches him some interrogation techniques. You two became very close during your time at the academy, but after your graduation, you lost each other. He was assigned into the task force while you worked your way into the BAU. You two saw each other again after being separated for 7 years, and to be honest, that was the best day of your life. Hotch saw how happy you were seeing Luke again and he saw Luke’s potential, so he asked him to stay. It was wonderful., You loved working together with him, but with Luke becoming a profiler, he automatically improved his body language and profiling skills. He always knew exactly when you were hiding something or when you weren’t completely honest. This time wasn’t any different. Yes, you were tired, but there was something more., something was bothering you but weren’t quite sure what it was yourself.
Back at the BAU, your team got greeted by Penelope, who was excited to have her team back. She was amazing in every way possible. The whole team was. They all treated you like family since day one, even more than your own family ever did.
Everyone took their stuff and headed home. At the moment you wanted to leave, someone suddenly grabbed your arm and pulled you into a close hug.
“Hey! What was that for?” You were surprised but you couldn’t hold back a smile.
Luke looked down at you and chuckled. His eyes were warm and friendly, something you had always loved about him.
“Are you alright? You can always talk to me, you know that right?” Luke said with a concerned tone.
“I know, it’s just that this case was really exhausting and I feel like I need a break. An intense break.” You said tiredly.
“Yeah me too, but there is something else isn’t it?”Luke asked.
“Can you take me home, please? My car is broken and I don’t feel like taking the bus tonight.”
“Of course, whatever you need.” He said with a soft tone.
He locked arms with you and both of you walked out of the FBI building.
Back home, you immediately fell asleep the second you laid down. You planned to take a shower first, but your feet took youjust walked directly to the bedroom, and to be honest, you couldn’t care less.
The next morning, you woke up to several knocks on your bedroom door. You were still really tired but the knocking wouldn’t stop so you decided to just get up and open the door.
“Luke? What are you doing here? At this time? And what the hell is in that bag?”
“Uhm you seemed really stressed out and tired, and I know that you girls have some ways to make yourself feel more relaxed. So , I thought maybe you could use some sort of spa day?” He stumbled shyly with a small but unbelievably cute smile on his face.
You never really thought about this before, but he had a marvelous smile. And the more you looked at him, standing in your door with his bag full of beauty stuff, the more you realized how cute he was.
“Face masks?” You asked.
“A lot!” You both chuckled.
“Come in.” You said and let him in.
“Roxy my girl! Come here, she let us in!”
One second later, you heard little paws padding over the floor, and shortly after, Roxy’s cute fluffy head looked around the corner of your door. God, you loved this dog so much.
He put the bag on your couch and opened it, so you could see what he brought with him.
“Damn Luke, you really didn’t exaggerate when you said you brought a lot.”
“Well, I didn’t know what you like, but that’s not the only thing I brought., Look at this!”
He was so excited and as he showed you what he got, his shined lighter with every piece he put out of the bag. He has really pretty eyes and you had always loved them. The warm hazelnut brown always calmed you down somehow.
“Wait, you got nail polish? Do you know how much I already have? You didn’t have to buy this!”
“Oh, I know (Y/N) but do you have this color?
I think this shade of red would look really good on you., It matches the lipstick you sometimes wear, the one I love so much.”
“You are cute, you know that?” Your voice was soft and calm.
He didn’t answer but he had the biggest and most adorable smile on his face.
“Okay, I also got some of your favorite snacks so, if you want some, it’s all in here., Just take it. Oh, but not the dog stuff. I don’t think you would like it that much.” He chuckled.
“Oh, you think so?”
That made him laugh, in fact, you two always made each other laugh. He always managed to make you laugh or smile at least. He was the first person you called when something happened or even when you just wanted to talk. Everyone said that you guys loved each other, you are just too stubborn to admit it.
“Okay Lu, let’s go wash our face.” You said.
“Uhm what do you mean?” Luke asked.
“Before putting on a face mask you have to wash your face.”
“Yeah, but you said “our”.”
“Ohhhh I see. You thought you’d just come, give me all this stuff to make me feel better and then watch TV?”
“That is exactly what I thought.”
“Well… no. You said spa day let’s do spa day. TOGETHER! Or I’m not doing it.” You said with a small smirk on your face because you knew goddamn well that you won.
“Fine. But you’re not painting my nails!”
“We will see.” You winked and headed towards the bathroom.
“Oh Roxy, what did I get myself into?” He murmured under his breath.
“I can hear you idiot and now get your ass over here before I bring the water to you!”
“Okay okay…” He answered but he couldn’t stop himself from smiling.
He would’ve done everything to make you happy. Luke knew you guys were just friends but deep down he was asking himself if it was not more than just platonic love you guys had for each other.
“Okay so, if you want, you can use that face wash but I think water should be enough.”
“Alright.”
He said and began forming his hands into a bowl while gaining water from the faucet but instead of washing his face, he threw it all in your direction.
“Oh you gotta be kidding me! You want war? You get war!”
You took the cup that was next to you, filled it with water and before Luke was able to escape, you emptied it all over his face and shirt.
“Damn!” He said.
Looking around at the mess you just made, you both started laughing. It wasn’t just a sweet little laugh, you two were barely able to keep standing on your feet. It never never took much to make you laugh your asses off when you were together, that’s what you loved so much about him. You two could ugly laugh together at the smallest things and not feel embarrassed at all.
“Okay, I think our faces are clean now.” He tried to say but it was hard since he couldn’t stop laughing. When he calmed himself down, he continued,: “I’ll clean up and you go and prepare everything since you have more idea what to do than I do.”
You nodded and went to get the masks.
“Luuuu, what music do we wanna listen to? Or what show should I put on? Or what movie do we wanna watch?”
“Friends.”
“You watch friends?” You were surprised. You didn’t know he liked it.
“No, but you do and I wanna know why you love it so much.”
“Alright then, friends it’ll be.” You said happily.
You two were sitting on the couch, across from each other with Roxy laying on the floor, sleeping right next to you. Luke took some of the mask and gently applied to his face. You thought you might help correct him a little bit afterwards but he was surprisingly good at this. You did the same to yours but unlike Luke, you missed basically half of your face.
“Come here you missed something.”
“Oh boy, one could think you do this more often than me.” You snickered.
He softly covered the rest of your face, and while he did so, you stared directly into his soft hazelnut eyes. They were sparkling beautifully in the warm daylight of the midday sun that was shining through the window. He felt your glance on him so he stopped for a few seconds to look back at you. For a moment you both totally blended out your environment, just him and you and the rest of the world disappeared. You suddenly felt a slight prickling in your stomach that grew stronger and stronger the longer you held on to each other. You were confused because you had never thought of him in that way before but it made sense. He has always been there for you, when nobody else was and he basically knew everything about you. He even thought of buying natural masks, without any perfume because he knew how sensitive your skin was. He bought your favorite chocolate, the one with dried strawberries on it because he knew exactly how much you loved it. He also brought Roxy, not just because he didn’t want to leave her alone, because he knew how much you liked cuddling with her, especially when you were stressed.
You wanted to lean in for kiss, but before you could do so, he looked away and started talking again.
“Okay, I think you’re good now. How long does this have to stay on?”
It was hard for you to hide your disappointment but it might just be better this way. You guys were working together and despite the fact it wasn’t even allowed, it could cause trouble in the feld but nevertheless it was still Luke.
“Uhmmm I think like ten minutes?”
“Okay in the meantime, do you wanna tell me what’s wrong?”
“Why should something be wrong?”
“(Y/N)... I know this last case was hard, but there is something about you…” he wanted to continue but you interrupted him.
“Luke, listen. I really appreciate your concern and you are right., The Last case was really hard for me, but if you don’t mind, I’d rather just enjoy this day with you. I promise you I’m fine, I just need a break.” You said with a small smile on your face.
“Okay, but you promise me that you talk to me if anything changes right?“
“Luke, I promise. Now show me your nails, I wanna paint them.“
“You are kidding right?“ It couldn’t have been more obvious how shocked he was.
“Haha yes Lu, I am, calm down.” You chuckled.
“Good. But I can do yours if you want. Once we put these masks off of course.”
“Luke have you ever done it before?”
“Trust me (Y/N), I can do it.”
”Okay Lu let’s go wash this off, without flooding my bathroom this time” You grinned.
”Can't promise anything.” He smirked.
You two went to the bathroom to wash everything off, but what you didn’t know was that Roxy snuffed around in the meantime, looking for some snacks when she found your new red nail polish.
“Okay Lu, first, I want to order food. I’m starving.”
“Not like I didn’t buy tons of snacks already but OH MY GOD ROXY NO THAT‘S NOT A SNACK”
“Okay Luke, stay calm. We got this.”
Just stay calm
“Roxy, princess, come here and show me what you got there.”
Roxy just stared at you two before running around through your appartement with the nail polish still in her mouth. You two tried to catch her but instead of doing so, you run directly into each other, resulting in Luke falling on top of you. There it was again, that moment where all you could see was him. You wanted to say something but couldn’t. It was like he fixed you to the ground only with his gaze. You forgot everything around you, even Roxy who was now standing in the corner of the room watching you two.
Luke seemed to feel similar since he didn’t move or spoke, he just stared at you. He had that small but sweet smirk on his face, the one that you loved so much. He slowly came down to you until your faces were not even one inch away. Before you could think about what was going to happen next, he softly pressed his lips against yours. The kiss was gentle but still passionate. It was perfect. Suddenly everything made sense. All the times he was the only guy that ever made you happy and you didn’t even realize it. He was the only one who noticed when something was wrong. While you both forgot everything around you, Roxy slowly walked towards you two and dropped the nail polish right next to you on the floor. The sound of the glass meeting the ground was it what made Luke let go of you.
“That’s was your plan all the time wasn’t it?” He asked his dog.
Roxy looked back at him with the cutest face a dog could ever make.
“Come, let me help you up.”
“Thanks Lu.” You said while smiling shyly back at him.
“You still want me to paint your nails with this?”
“Later. For now I just wanna do this.”
Before he could even say something, your lips were meeting his again.
When you woke up this morning, you never would’ve thought that this would happen but turned out all you guys needed was a cute little spa day and a dog that was obviously way smarter than her owner and his best friend.
